KJV 1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

VULC 1 Et factum est, cum audisset rex Ezechias, scidit vestimenta sua, et obvolutus est sacco, et intravit in domum Domini.

WLC 1 וַיְהִ֗י כִּשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ וַיִּקְרַ֖ע אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֑יו וַיִּתְכַּ֣ס בַּשָּׂ֔ק וַיָּבֹ֖א בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

KJV 2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

VULC 2 Et misit Eliacim, qui erat super domum, et Sobnam scribam, et seniores de sacerdotibus, opertos saccis, ad Isaiam, filium Amos, prophetam,

WLC 2 וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח אֶת־ אֶלְיָקִ֨ים אֲשֶׁר־ עַל־ הַבַּ֜יִת וְאֵ֣ת ׀ שֶׁבְנָ֣א הַסּוֹפֵ֗ר וְאֵת֙ זִקְנֵ֣י הַכֹּהֲנִ֔ים מִתְכַּסִּ֖ים בַּשַּׂקִּ֑ים אֶל־ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־ אָמ֖וֹץ הַנָּבִֽיא׃

KJV 3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

VULC 3 et dixerunt ad eum : Hæc dicit Ezechias : Dies tribulationis, et correptionis, et blasphemiæ, dies hæc ; quia venerunt filii usque ad partum, et virtus non est pariendi.

WLC 3 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ יוֹם־ צָרָ֧ה וְתוֹכֵחָ֛ה וּנְאָצָ֖ה הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י בָ֤אוּ בָנִים֙ עַד־ מַשְׁבֵּ֔ר וְכֹ֥חַ אַ֖יִן לְלֵדָֽה׃

KJV 4 It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.

VULC 4 Si quomodo audiat Dominus Deus tuus verba Rabsacis, quem misit rex Assyriorum dominus suus ad blasphemandum Deum viventem et exprobrandum sermonibus quos audivit Dominus Deus tuus : leva ergo orationem pro reliquiis quæ repertæ sunt.

WLC 4 אוּלַ֡י יִשְׁמַע֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אֵ֣ת ׀ דִּבְרֵ֣י רַב־ שָׁקֵ֗ה אֲשֶׁר֩ שְׁלָח֨וֹ מֶֽלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֤וּר ׀ אֲדֹנָיו֙ לְחָרֵף֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים חַ֔י וְהוֹכִ֙יחַ֙ בַּדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁמַ֖ע יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ וְנָשָׂ֣אתָ תְפִלָּ֔ה בְּעַ֥ד הַשְּׁאֵרִ֖ית הַנִּמְצָאָֽה׃

KJV 5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

VULC 5 Et venerunt servi regis Ezechiæ ad Isaiam.

WLC 5 וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ עַבְדֵ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ אֶל־ יְשַׁעְיָֽהוּ׃

KJV 6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

VULC 6 Et dixit ad eos Isaias : Hæc dicetis domino vestro : Hæc dicit Dominus : Ne timeas a facie verborum quæ audisti, quibus blasphemaverunt pueri regis Assyriorum me.

WLC 6 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֔הוּ כֹּ֥ה תֹאמְר֖וּן אֶל־ אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֑ם כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אַל־ תִּירָא֙ מִפְּנֵ֤י הַדְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁמַ֔עְתָּ אֲשֶׁ֧ר גִּדְּפ֛וּ נַעֲרֵ֥י מֶלֶךְ־ אַשּׁ֖וּר אוֹתִֽי׃

KJV 7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

VULC 7 Ecce ego dabo ei spiritum, et audiet nuntium, et revertetur ad terram suam, et corruere eum faciam gladio in terra sua.

WLC 7 הִנְנִ֨י נוֹתֵ֥ן בּוֹ֙ ר֔וּחַ וְשָׁמַ֥ע שְׁמוּעָ֖ה וְשָׁ֣ב אֶל־ אַרְצ֑וֹ וְהִפַּלְתִּ֥יו בַּחֶ֖רֶב בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃

KJV 8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

VULC 8 Reversus est autem Rabsaces, et invenit regem Assyriorum præliantem adversus Lobnam : audierat enim quia profectus esset de Lachis.

WLC 8 וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ רַב־ שָׁקֵ֔ה וַיִּמְצָא֙ אֶת־ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר נִלְחָ֖ם עַל־ לִבְנָ֑ה כִּ֣י שָׁמַ֔ע כִּ֥י נָסַ֖ע מִלָּכִֽישׁ׃

KJV 9 And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

VULC 9 Et audivit de Tharaca rege Æthiopiæ, dicentes : Egressus est ut pugnet contra te. Quod cum audisset, misit nuntios ad Ezechiam, dicens :

WLC 9 וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע עַל־ תִּרְהָ֤קָה מֶֽלֶךְ־ כּוּשׁ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יָצָ֖א לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם אִתָּ֑ךְ וַיִּשְׁמַע֙ וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח מַלְאָכִ֔ים אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃

KJV 10 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

VULC 10 Hæc dicetis Ezechiæ regi Judæ, loquentes : Non te decipiat Deus tuus in quo tu confidis, dicens : Non dabitur Jerusalem in manu regis Assyriorum.

WLC 10 כֹּ֣ה תֹאמְר֗וּן אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אַל־ יַשִּֽׁאֲךָ֣ אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֛ה בּוֹטֵ֥חַ בּ֖וֹ לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֤א תִנָּתֵן֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

KJV 11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?

VULC 11 Ecce tu audisti omnia quæ fecerunt reges Assyriorum omnibus terris, quas subverterunt : et tu poteris liberari ?

WLC 11 הִנֵּ֣ה ׀ אַתָּ֣ה שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֜וּ מַלְכֵ֥י אַשּׁ֛וּר לְכָל־ הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת לְהַחֲרִימָ֑ם וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּנָּצֵֽל׃

KJV 12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?

VULC 12 Numquid eruerunt eos dii gentium quos subverterunt patres mei, Gozam, et Haram, et Reseph, et filios Eden qui erant in Thalassar ?

WLC 12 הַהִצִּ֨ילוּ אוֹתָ֜ם אֱלֹהֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִשְׁחִ֣יתוּ אֲבוֹתַ֔י אֶת־ גּוֹזָ֖ן וְאֶת־ חָרָ֑ן וְרֶ֥צֶף וּבְנֵי־ עֶ֖דֶן אֲשֶׁ֥ר בִּתְלַשָּֽׂר׃

KJV 13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?

VULC 13 Ubi est rex Emath, et rex Arphad, et rex urbis Sepharvaim, Ana, et Ava ?

WLC 13 אַיֵּ֤ה מֶֽלֶךְ־ חֲמָת֙ וּמֶ֣לֶךְ אַרְפָּ֔ד וּמֶ֖לֶךְ לָעִ֣יר סְפַרְוָ֑יִם הֵנַ֖ע וְעִוָּֽה׃

KJV 14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

VULC 14 Et tulit Ezechias libros de manu nuntiorum, et legit eos, et ascendit in domum Domini, et expandit eos Ezechias coram Domino :

WLC 14 וַיִּקַּ֨ח חִזְקִיָּ֧הוּ אֶת־ הַסְּפָרִ֛ים מִיַּ֥ד הַמַּלְאָכִ֖ים וַיִּקְרָאֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֙עַל֙ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וַיִּפְרְשֵׂ֥הוּ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV 15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

VULC 15 et oravit Ezechias ad Dominum, dicens :

WLC 15 וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל֙ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ אֶל־ יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

KJV 16 O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

VULC 16 Domine exercituum, Deus Israël, qui sedes super cherubim, tu es Deus solus omnium regnorum terræ : tu fecisti cælum et terram.

WLC 16 יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יֹשֵׁ֣ב הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים אַתָּה־ ה֤וּא הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לְבַדְּךָ֔ לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֑רֶץ אַתָּ֣ה עָשִׂ֔יתָ אֶת־ הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV 17 Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.

VULC 17 Inclina, Domine, aurem tuam, et audi ; aperi, Domine, oculos tuos, et vide : et audi omnia verba Sennacherib, quæ misit ad blasphemandum Deum viventem.

WLC 17 הַטֵּ֨ה יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אָזְנְךָ֙ וּֽשְׁמָ֔ע פְּקַ֧ח יְהוָ֛ה עֵינֶ֖ךָ וּרְאֵ֑ה וּשְׁמַ֗ע אֵ֚ת כָּל־ דִּבְרֵ֣י סַנְחֵרִ֔יב אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁלַ֔ח לְחָרֵ֖ף אֱלֹהִ֥ים חָֽי׃

KJV 18 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,

VULC 18 Vere enim, Domine, desertas fecerunt reges Assyriorum terras, et regiones earum,

WLC 18 אָמְנָ֖ם יְהוָ֑ה הֶחֱרִ֜יבוּ מַלְכֵ֥י אַשּׁ֛וּר אֶת־ כָּל־ הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת וְאֶת־ אַרְצָֽם׃

KJV 19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

VULC 19 et dederunt deos earum igni : non enim erant dii, sed opera manuum hominum, lignum et lapis, et comminuerunt eos.

WLC 19 וְנָתֹ֥ן אֶת־ אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם בָּאֵ֑שׁ כִּי֩ לֹ֨א אֱלֹהִ֜ים הֵ֗מָּה כִּ֣י אִם־ מַעֲשֵׂ֧ה יְדֵֽי־ אָדָ֛ם עֵ֥ץ וָאֶ֖בֶן וַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃

KJV 20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.

VULC 20 Et nunc, Domine Deus noster, salva nos de manu ejus, et cognoscant omnia regna terræ quia tu es Dominus solus.

WLC 20 וְעַתָּה֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֖נוּ מִיָד֑וֹ וְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ כָּל־ מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי־ אַתָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃

KJV 21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

VULC 21 Et misit Isaias, filius Amos, ad Ezechiam, dicens : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Pro quibus rogasti me de Sennacherib, rege Assyriorum,

WLC 21 וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ יְשַֽׁעְיָ֣הוּ בֶן־ אָמ֔וֹץ אֶל־ חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר֙ הִתְפַּלַּ֣לְתָּ אֵלַ֔י אֶל־ סַנְחֵרִ֖יב מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

KJV 22 This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

VULC 22 hoc est verbum quod locutus est Dominus super eum : [Despexit te et subsannavit te,
virgo filia Sion ;
post te caput movit,
filia Jerusalem.

WLC 22 זֶ֣ה הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁר־ דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה עָלָ֑יו בָּזָ֨ה לְךָ֜ לָעֲגָ֣ה לְךָ֗ בְּתוּלַת֙ בַּת־ צִיּ֔וֹן אַחֲרֶ֙יךָ֙ רֹ֣אשׁ הֵנִ֔יעָה בַּ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV 23 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

VULC 23 Cui exprobrasti ? et quem blasphemasti ?
et super quem exaltasti vocem,
et levasti altitudinem oculorum tuorum ?
ad Sanctum Israël.

WLC 23 אֶת־ מִ֤י חֵרַ֙פְתָּ֙ וְגִדַּ֔פְתָּ וְעַל־ מִ֖י הֲרִימ֣וֹתָה קּ֑וֹל וַתִּשָּׂ֥א מָר֛וֹם עֵינֶ֖יךָ אֶל־ קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV 24 By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

VULC 24 In manu servorum tuorum exprobrasti Domino,
et dixisti : In multitudine quadrigarum mearum
ego ascendi altitudinem montium juga Libani ;
et succidam excelsa cedrorum ejus,
et electas abietes illius,
et introibo altitudinem summitatis ejus,
saltum Carmeli ejus.

WLC 24 בְּיַ֣ד עֲבָדֶיךָ֮ חֵרַ֣פְתָּ ׀ אֲדֹנָי֒ וַתֹּ֗אמֶר בְּרֹ֥ב רִכְבִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י עָלִ֛יתִי מְר֥וֹם הָרִ֖ים יַרְכְּתֵ֣י לְבָנ֑וֹן וְאֶכְרֹ֞ת קוֹמַ֤ת אֲרָזָיו֙ מִבְחַ֣ר בְּרֹשָׁ֔יו וְאָבוֹא֙ מְר֣וֹם קִצּ֔וֹ יַ֖עַר כַּרְמִלּֽוֹ׃

KJV 25 I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places.

VULC 25 Ego fodi, et bibi aquam,
et exsiccavi vestigio pedis mei
omnes rivos aggerum.

WLC 25 אֲנִ֥י קַ֖רְתִּי וְשָׁתִ֣יתִי מָ֑יִם וְאַחְרִב֙ בְּכַף־ פְּעָמַ֔י כֹּ֖ל יְאֹרֵ֥י מָצֽוֹר׃

KJV 26 Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.

VULC 26 Numquid non audisti quæ olim fecerim ei ?
Ex diebus antiquis ego plasmavi illud ;
et nunc adduxi,
et factum est in eradicationem collium compugnantium,
et civitatum munitarum.

WLC 26 הֲלֽוֹא־ שָׁמַ֤עְתָּ לְמֵֽרָחוֹק֙ אוֹתָ֣הּ עָשִׂ֔יתִי מִ֥ימֵי קֶ֖דֶם וִיצַרְתִּ֑יהָ עַתָּ֣ה הֲבֵאתִ֔יהָ וּתְהִ֗י לְהַשְׁא֛וֹת גַּלִּ֥ים נִצִּ֖ים עָרִ֥ים בְּצֻרֽוֹת׃

KJV 27 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

VULC 27 Habitatores earum breviata manu
contremuerunt, et confusi sunt.
Facti sunt sicut fœnum agri,
et gramen pascuæ,
et herba tectorum,
quæ exaruit antequam maturesceret.

WLC 27 וְיֹֽשְׁבֵיהֶן֙ קִצְרֵי־ יָ֔ד חַ֖תּוּ וָבֹ֑שׁוּ הָי֞וּ עֵ֤שֶׂב שָׂדֶה֙ וִ֣ירַק דֶּ֔שֶׁא חֲצִ֣יר גַּגּ֔וֹת וּשְׁדֵמָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י קָמָֽה׃

KJV 28 But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

VULC 28 Habitationem tuam, et egressum tuum,
et introitum tuum cognovi,
et insaniam tuam contra me.

WLC 28 וְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛ וְצֵאתְךָ֥ וּבוֹאֲךָ֖ יָדָ֑עְתִּי וְאֵ֖ת הִֽתְרַגֶּזְךָ֥ אֵלָֽי׃

KJV 29 Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

VULC 29 Cum fureres adversum me,
superbia tua ascendit in aures meas.
Ponam ergo circulum in naribus tuis,
et frenum in labiis tuis,
et reducam te in viam
per quam venisti.]

WLC 29 יַ֚עַן הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ֣ אֵלַ֔י וְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ֖ עָלָ֣ה בְאָזְנָ֑י וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י חַחִ֜י בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ וּמִתְגִּי֙ בִּשְׂפָתֶ֔יךָ וַהֲשִׁ֣יבֹתִ֔יךָ בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁר־ בָּ֥אתָ בָּֽהּ׃

KJV 30 And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.

VULC 30 Tibi autem hoc erit signum : comede hoc anno quæ sponte nascuntur, et in anno secundo pomis vescere ; in anno autem tertio seminate et metite, et plantate vineas, et comedite fructum earum.

WLC 30 וְזֶה־ לְּךָ֣ הָא֔וֹת אָכ֤וֹל הַשָּׁנָה֙ סָפִ֔יחַ וּבַשָּׁנָ֥ה הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית שָׁחִ֑יס וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗ית זִרְע֧וּ וְקִצְר֛וּ וְנִטְע֥וּ כְרָמִ֖ים פִרְיָֽם׃

KJV 31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

VULC 31 Et mittet id quod salvatum fuerit de domo Juda, et quod reliquum est, radicem deorsum, et faciet fructum sursum :

WLC 31 וְיָ֨סְפָ֜ה פְּלֵיטַ֧ת בֵּית־ יְהוּדָ֛ה הַנִּשְׁאָרָ֖ה שֹׁ֣רֶשׁ לְמָ֑טָּה וְעָשָׂ֥ה פְרִ֖י לְמָֽעְלָה׃

KJV 32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

VULC 32 quia de Jerusalem exibunt reliquiæ, et salvatio de monte Sion : zelus Domini exercituum faciet istud.

WLC 32 כִּ֤י מִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ תֵּצֵ֣א שְׁאֵרִ֔ית וּפְלֵיטָ֖ה מֵהַ֣ר צִיּ֑וֹן קִנְאַ֛ת יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ זֹּֽאת׃

KJV 33 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

KJV 35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

KJV 37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

KJV 38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.
