BAN ² Qui a fait lever de l'Orient celui dont la justice rencontre les pas ? Qui lui a livré les nations et lui a soumis les rois ? Il réduit leur glaive en poussière ; il rend leur arc semblable à la paille qu'emporte le vent ;

KJV ² Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

WLC ² מִ֤י הֵעִיר֙ מִמִּזְרָ֔ח צֶ֖דֶק יִקְרָאֵ֣הוּ לְרַגְל֑וֹ יִתֵּ֨ן לְפָנָ֤יו גּוֹיִם֙ וּמְלָכִ֣ים יַ֔רְדְּ יִתֵּ֤ן כֶּֽעָפָר֙ חַרְבּ֔וֹ כְּקַ֥שׁ נִדָּ֖ף קַשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

BAN ³ il les poursuit et passe en paix par un chemin où son pied n'avait point marché.

KJV ³ He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

WLC ³ יִרְדְּפֵ֖ם יַעֲב֣וֹר שָׁל֑וֹם אֹ֥רַח בְּרַגְלָ֖יו לֹ֥א יָבֽוֹא׃

BAN ⁴ Qui a accompli cela ? qui l'a fait ? Celui qui appelle les générations depuis le commencement, moi, l'Eternel, qui suis le premier ; et je suis, moi aussi, avec les derniers.

KJV ⁴ Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

WLC ⁴ מִֽי־ פָעַ֣ל וְעָשָׂ֔ה קֹרֵ֥א הַדֹּר֖וֹת מֵרֹ֑אשׁ אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ רִאשׁ֔וֹן וְאֶת־ אַחֲרֹנִ֖ים אֲנִי־ הֽוּא׃

BAN ⁵ Les îles le voient et sont saisies de crainte ; les bouts de la terre tremblent ; ils approchent et viennent ;

KJV ⁵ The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

WLC ⁵ רָא֤וּ אִיִּים֙ וְיִירָ֔אוּ קְצ֥וֹת הָאָ֖רֶץ יֶחֱרָ֑דוּ קָרְב֖וּ וַיֶּאֱתָיֽוּן׃

BAN ⁶ chacun aide son voisin et dit à son frère : Prends courage !

KJV ⁶ They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

BAN ⁷ Le forgeron encourage le fondeur, le polisseur au marteau celui qui frappe l'enclume ; il dit de la soudure : elle est bonne, puis il le fixe avec des clous, pour qu'il ne branle pas.

KJV ⁷ So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

BAN ⁸ Mais toi, Israël, mon serviteur, Jacob, que j'ai choisi, race d'Abraham mon ami ;

KJV ⁸ But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

BAN ⁹ toi que j'ai été prendre aux bouts de la terre et que j'ai appelé de ses extrémités ; toi à qui j'ai dit : Tu es mon serviteur ; je t'ai choisi, et ne t'ai point rejeté,

BAN ¹⁰ ne crains point, car je suis avec toi ; ne t'effraye point, car je suis ton Dieu ; je t'ai pris à moi ; je t'aide aussi, et je te soutiens par la droite de ma justice.

KJV ¹¹ Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

BAN ¹² tu les chercheras, et tu ne les trouveras plus, ceux qui te querellent ; ils seront semblables au néant, réduits à rien, ceux qui te font la guerre !

KJV ¹² Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

BAN ¹⁵ Voici, je fais de toi une herse pointue, neuve, à deux tranchants ; tu fouleras les montagnes et tu les broieras, et tu rendras les collines semblables à de la balle ;

KJV ¹⁵ Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

BAN ¹⁶ tu les vanneras, et le vent les emportera, et l'ouragan les dispersera ; mais toi, tu tressailleras de joie en l'Eternel ; tu te glorifieras dans le Saint d'Israël.

KJV ¹⁶ Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

BAN ¹⁷ Les malheureux et les pauvres, qui cherchent des eaux et n'en trouvent point, et leur langue est dévorée par la soif, moi, l'Eternel, je les exaucerai ; moi, le Dieu d'Israël, je ne les abandonnerai point.

KJV ¹⁷ When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

BAN ¹⁸ Je ferai jaillir des fleuves sur les sommets dépouillés et des sources au milieu des vallées ; je changerai le désert en un lac et la terre aride en fontaines d'eau ;

KJV ¹⁸ I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

WLC ¹⁸ אֶפְתַּ֤ח עַל־ שְׁפָיִים֙ נְהָר֔וֹת וּבְת֥וֹךְ בְּקָע֖וֹת מַעְיָנ֑וֹת אָשִׂ֤ים מִדְבָּר֙ לַאֲגַם־ מַ֔יִם וְאֶ֥רֶץ צִיָּ֖ה לְמוֹצָ֥אֵי מָֽיִם׃

BAN ¹⁹ je mettrai dans le désert le cèdre, l'acacia, le myrte et l'olivier ; je mettrai ensemble dans la steppe le cyprès, le platane et le buis ;

KJV ¹⁹ I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

WLC ¹⁹ אֶתֵּ֤ן בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ אֶ֣רֶז שִׁטָּ֔ה וַהֲדַ֖ס וְעֵ֣ץ שָׁ֑מֶן אָשִׂ֣ים בָּעֲרָבָ֗ה בְּר֛וֹשׁ תִּדְהָ֥ר וּתְאַשּׁ֖וּר יַחְדָּֽו׃

BAN ²⁰ afin que tous voient et sachent et remarquent et comprennent que c'est la main de l'Eternel qui a fait cela, et le Saint d'Israël qui l'a créé.

KJV ²⁰ That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

BAN ²¹ Présentez votre cause, dit l'Eternel ; produisez vos raisons, dit le Roi de Jacob.

KJV ²¹ Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

WLC ²¹ קָרְב֥וּ רִֽיבְכֶ֖ם יֹאמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה הַגִּ֙ישׁוּ֙ עֲצֻמ֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם יֹאמַ֖ר מֶ֥לֶךְ יַעֲקֹֽב׃

BAN ²² Qu'ils les produisent et nous déclarent ce qui doit arriver ! Déclarez-nous quelles sont les choses anciennes que vous avez prédites, et nous y appliquerons notre coeur pour en connaître l'issue ; ou bien faites-nous entendre les choses à venir !

KJV ²² Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

WLC ²² יַגִּ֙ישׁוּ֙ וְיַגִּ֣ידוּ לָ֔נוּ אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּקְרֶ֑ינָה הָרִאשֹׁנ֣וֹת ׀ מָ֣ה הֵ֗נָּה הַגִּ֜ידוּ וְנָשִׂ֤ימָה לִבֵּ֙נוּ֙ וְנֵדְעָ֣ה אַחֲרִיתָ֔ן א֥וֹ הַבָּא֖וֹת הַשְׁמִיעֻֽנוּ׃

BAN ²³ Annoncez les choses qui doivent arriver plus tard, et nous saurons que vous êtes des dieux ; faites du bien ou du mal, afin que nous le voyons et nous en étonnions ensemble !

KJV ²³ Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

WLC ²³ הַגִּ֙ידוּ֙ הָאֹתִיּ֣וֹת לְאָח֔וֹר וְנֵ֣דְעָ֔ה כִּ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים אַתֶּ֑ם אַף־ תֵּיטִ֣יבוּ וְתָרֵ֔עוּ וְנִשְׁתָּ֖עָה יַחְדָּֽו׃

BAN ²⁴ Voilà, vous n'êtes rien ; et vos oeuvres ne sont que néant ; abominable est celui qui vous choisit !

KJV ²⁴ Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

BAN ²⁵ Je l'ai suscité du septentrion, et il est venu du soleil levant, celui qui invoque mon nom ; il marche sur les princes comme sur la boue, comme le potier foule l'argile.

KJV ²⁵ I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

BAN ²⁶ Qui a déclaré cela dès le commencement, pour que nous le sachions ; bien à l'avance, pour que nous disions : C'est vrai ! Non, personne ne l'a annoncé ; personne ne l'a fait entendre ; personne n'a entendu vos paroles !

KJV ²⁶ Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

BAN ²⁷ Le premier, je dis à Sion : Les voici ! Les voici ! et j'envoie à Jérusalem un messager de bonnes nouvelles.

KJV ²⁷ The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

BAN ²⁹ Voilà, ils ne sont tous que vanité ; leurs oeuvres sont néant ; leurs idoles, du vent et du vide !

KJV ²⁹ Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
