KJV 1 Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

VULC 1 [Taceant ad me insulæ,
et gentes mutent fortitudinem :
accedant, et tunc loquantur ;
simul ad judicium propinquemus.

WLC 1 הַחֲרִ֤ישׁוּ אֵלַי֙ אִיִּ֔ים וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים יַחֲלִ֣יפוּ כֹ֑חַ יִגְּשׁוּ֙ אָ֣ז יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ יַחְדָּ֖ו לַמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט נִקְרָֽבָה׃

KJV 2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

VULC 2 Quis suscitavit ab oriente Justum,
vocavit eum ut sequeretur se ?
Dabit in conspectu ejus gentes,
et reges obtinebit :
dabit quasi pulverem gladio ejus,
sicut stipulam vento raptam arcui ejus.

WLC 2 מִ֤י הֵעִיר֙ מִמִּזְרָ֔ח צֶ֖דֶק יִקְרָאֵ֣הוּ לְרַגְל֑וֹ יִתֵּ֨ן לְפָנָ֤יו גּוֹיִם֙ וּמְלָכִ֣ים יַ֔רְדְּ יִתֵּ֤ן כֶּֽעָפָר֙ חַרְבּ֔וֹ כְּקַ֥שׁ נִדָּ֖ף קַשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

KJV 3 He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

VULC 3 Persequetur eos, transibit in pace :
semita in pedibus ejus non apparebit.

WLC 3 יִרְדְּפֵ֖ם יַעֲב֣וֹר שָׁל֑וֹם אֹ֥רַח בְּרַגְלָ֖יו לֹ֥א יָבֽוֹא׃

KJV 4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

VULC 4 Quis hæc operatus est, et fecit,

primus et novissimus ego sum.

WLC 4 מִֽי־ פָעַ֣ל וְעָשָׂ֔ה קֹרֵ֥א הַדֹּר֖וֹת מֵרֹ֑אשׁ אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ רִאשׁ֔וֹן וְאֶת־ אַחֲרֹנִ֖ים אֲנִי־ הֽוּא׃

KJV 5 The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

VULC 5 Viderunt insulæ, et timuerunt ;
extrema terræ obstupuerunt :
appropinquaverunt, et accesserunt.

WLC 5 רָא֤וּ אִיִּים֙ וְיִירָ֔אוּ קְצ֥וֹת הָאָ֖רֶץ יֶחֱרָ֑דוּ קָרְב֖וּ וַיֶּאֱתָיֽוּן׃

KJV 6 They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

VULC 6 Unusquisque proximo suo auxiliabitur,
et fratri suo dicet : Confortare.

WLC 6 אִ֥ישׁ אֶת־ רֵעֵ֖הוּ יַעְזֹ֑רוּ וּלְאָחִ֖יו יֹאמַ֥ר חֲזָֽק׃

KJV 7 So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

VULC 7 Confortavit faber ærarius
percutiens malleo
eum, qui cudebat tunc temporis,
dicens : Glutino bonum est ;
et confortavit eum clavis, ut non moveretur.]

WLC 7 וַיְחַזֵּ֤ק חָרָשׁ֙ אֶת־ צֹרֵ֔ף מַחֲלִ֥יק פַּטִּ֖ישׁ אֶת־ ה֣וֹלֶם פָּ֑עַם אֹמֵ֤ר לַדֶּ֙בֶק֙ ט֣וֹב ה֔וּא וַיְחַזְּקֵ֥הוּ בְמַסְמְרִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִמּֽוֹט׃

KJV 8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Jacob quem elegi,

WLC 8 וְאַתָּה֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עַבְדִּ֔י יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּחַרְתִּ֑יךָ זֶ֖רַע אַבְרָהָ֥ם אֹהֲבִֽי׃

KJV 9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

VULC 9 in quo apprehendi te ab extremis terræ,
et a longinquis ejus vocavi te,
et dixi tibi : Servus meus es tu :
elegi te, et non abjeci te.

WLC 9 אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֶחֱזַקְתִּ֙יךָ֙ מִקְצ֣וֹת הָאָ֔רֶץ וּמֵאֲצִילֶ֖יהָ קְרָאתִ֑יךָ וָאֹ֤מַר לְךָ֙ עַבְדִּי־ אַ֔תָּה בְּחַרְתִּ֖יךָ וְלֹ֥א מְאַסְתִּֽיךָ׃

KJV 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

VULC 10 Ne timeas, quia ego tecum sum ;
ne declines, quia ego Deus tuus :
confortavi te, et auxiliatus sum tibi,
et suscepit te dextera Justi mei.

WLC 10 אַל־ תִּירָא֙ כִּ֣י עִמְּךָ־ אָ֔נִי אַל־ תִּשְׁתָּ֖ע כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֣י אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ אִמַּצְתִּ֙יךָ֙ אַף־ עֲזַרְתִּ֔יךָ אַף־ תְּמַכְתִּ֖יךָ בִּימִ֥ין צִדְקִֽי׃

KJV 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

VULC 11 Ecce confundentur et erubescent
omnes qui pugnant adversum te ;
erunt quasi non sint, et peribunt
viri qui contradicunt tibi.

WLC 11 הֵ֤ן יֵבֹ֙שׁוּ֙ וְיִכָּ֣לְמ֔וּ כֹּ֖ל הַנֶּחֱרִ֣ים בָּ֑ךְ יִֽהְי֥וּ כְאַ֛יִן וְיֹאבְד֖וּ אַנְשֵׁ֥י רִיבֶֽךָ׃

KJV 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

viros rebelles tuos ;
erunt quasi non sint, et veluti consumptio
homines bellantes adversum te.

KJV 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

VULC 13 Quia ego Dominus Deus tuus,
apprehendens manum tuam,
dicensque tibi : Ne timeas :
ego adjuvi te.

WLC 13 כִּ֗י אֲנִ֛י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מַחֲזִ֣יק יְמִינֶ֑ךָ הָאֹמֵ֥ר לְךָ֛ אַל־ תִּירָ֖א אֲנִ֥י עֲזַרְתִּֽיךָ׃

KJV 14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

VULC 14 Noli timere, vermis Jacob,
qui mortui estis ex Israël :
ego auxiliatus sum tibi, dicit Dominus,
et redemptor tuus Sanctus Israël.

KJV 15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

VULC 15 Ego posui te quasi plaustrum triturans novum,
habens rostra serrantia ;
triturabis montes, et comminues,
et colles quasi pulverem pones.

WLC 15 הִנֵּ֣ה שַׂמְתִּ֗יךְ לְמוֹרַג֙ חָר֣וּץ חָדָ֔שׁ בַּ֖עַל פִּֽיפִיּ֑וֹת תָּד֤וּשׁ הָרִים֙ וְתָדֹ֔ק וּגְבָע֖וֹת כַּמֹּ֥ץ תָּשִֽׂים׃

KJV 16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

VULC 16 Ventilabis eos, et ventus tollet,
et turbo disperget eos ;
et tu exsultabis in Domino,
in Sancto Israël lætaberis.

WLC 16 תִּזְרֵם֙ וְר֣וּחַ תִּשָּׂאֵ֔ם וּסְעָרָ֖ה תָּפִ֣יץ אוֹתָ֑ם וְאַתָּה֙ תָּגִ֣יל בַּֽיהוָ֔ה בִּקְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּתְהַלָּֽל׃

KJV 17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

VULC 17 Egeni et pauperes
quærunt aquas, et non sunt ;
lingua eorum siti aruit.
Ego Dominus exaudiam eos,
Deus Israël, non derelinquam eos.

KJV 18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

VULC 18 Aperiam in supinis collibus flumina,
et in medio camporum fontes :
ponam desertum in stagna aquarum,
et terram inviam in rivos aquarum.

KJV 19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

VULC 19 Dabo in solitudinem cedrum,
et spinam, et myrtum, et lignum olivæ ;
ponam in deserto abietem,
ulmum, et buxum simul :

KJV 20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

VULC 20 ut videant, et sciant,
et recogitent, et intelligant pariter,
quia manus Domini fecit hoc,
et Sanctus Israël creavit illud.

KJV 21 Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

dicit Dominus ;
Afferte, si quid forte habetis,
dicit rex Jacob.

KJV 22 Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

priora quæ fuerunt, nuntiate,
et ponemus cor nostrum,
et sciemus novissima eorum ;

KJV 23 Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

bene quoque aut male, si potestis, facite,
et loquamur et videamus simul.

KJV 24 Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

VULC 24 Ecce vos estis ex nihilo,
et opus vestrum ex eo quod non est :
abominatio est qui elegit vos.

WLC 24 הֵן־ אַתֶּ֣ם מֵאַ֔יִן וּפָעָלְכֶ֖ם מֵאָ֑פַע תּוֹעֵבָ֖ה יִבְחַ֥ר בָּכֶֽם׃

KJV 25 I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

vocabit nomen meum,

KJV 26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

et a principio ut dicamus : Justus es ?
Non est neque annuntians, neque prædicens,
neque audiens sermones vestros.

KJV 27 The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

KJV 28 For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

KJV 29 Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

ventus et inane simulacra eorum.]
