KJV ² Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

LSG ² Ainsi parle l'Éternel, qui t'a fait, Et qui t'a formé dès ta naissance, Celui qui est ton soutien: Ne crains rien, mon serviteur Jacob, Mon Israël, que j'ai choisi.

KJV ³ For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

LSG ³ Car je répandrai des eaux sur le sol altéré, Et des ruisseaux sur la terre desséchée ; Je répandrai mon esprit sur ta race, Et ma bénédiction sur tes rejetons.

WLC ³ כִּ֤י אֶצָּק־ מַ֙יִם֙ עַל־ צָמֵ֔א וְנֹזְלִ֖ים עַל־ יַבָּשָׁ֑ה אֶצֹּ֤ק רוּחִי֙ עַל־ זַרְעֶ֔ךָ וּבִרְכָתִ֖י עַל־ צֶאֱצָאֶֽיךָ׃

KJV ⁴ And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

LSG ⁴ Ils pousseront comme au milieu de l'herbe, Comme les saules près des courants d'eau.

WLC ⁴ וְצָמְח֖וּ בְּבֵ֣ין חָצִ֑יר כַּעֲרָבִ֖ים עַל־ יִבְלֵי־ מָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁵ One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

LSG ⁵ Celui-ci dira: Je suis à l'Éternel ; Celui-là se réclamera du nom de Jacob ; Cet autre écrira de sa main: à l'Éternel ! Et prononcera avec amour le nom d'Israël.

KJV ⁶ Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

LSG ⁶ Ainsi parle l'Éternel, roi d'Israël et son rédempteur, L'Éternel des armées: Je suis le premier et je suis le dernier, Et hors moi il n'y a point de Dieu.

WLC ⁶ כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֨ר יְהוָ֧ה מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל וְגֹאֲל֖וֹ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת אֲנִ֤י רִאשׁוֹן֙ וַאֲנִ֣י אַחֲר֔וֹן וּמִבַּלְעָדַ֖י אֵ֥ין אֱלֹהִֽים׃

KJV ⁷ And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

LSG ⁷ Qui a, comme moi, fait des prédictions (Qu'il le déclare et me le prouve !), Depuis que j'ai fondé le peuple ancien ? Qu'ils annoncent l'avenir et ce qui doit arriver !

WLC ⁷ וּמִֽי־ כָמ֣וֹנִי יִקְרָ֗א וְיַגִּידֶ֤הָ וְיַעְרְכֶ֙הָ֙ לִ֔י מִשּׂוּמִ֖י עַם־ עוֹלָ֑ם וְאֹתִיּ֛וֹת וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תָּבֹ֖אנָה יַגִּ֥ידוּ לָֽמוֹ׃

KJV ⁸ Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

LSG ⁸ N'ayez pas peur, et ne tremblez pas ; Ne te l'ai-je pas dès longtemps annoncé et déclaré ? Vous êtes mes témoins: Y a-t-il un autre Dieu que moi ? Il n'y a pas d'autre rocher, je n'en connais point.

WLC ⁸ אַֽל־ תִּפְחֲדוּ֙ וְאַל־ תִּרְה֔וּ הֲלֹ֥א מֵאָ֛ז הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֥יךָ וְהִגַּ֖דְתִּי וְאַתֶּ֣ם עֵדָ֑י הֲיֵ֤שׁ אֱל֙וֹהַּ֙ מִבַּלְעָדַ֔י וְאֵ֥ין צ֖וּר בַּל־ יָדָֽעְתִּי׃

KJV ⁹ They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

LSG ⁹ Ceux qui fabriquent des idoles ne sont tous que vanité, Et leurs plus belles oeuvres ne servent à rien ; Elles le témoignent elles-mêmes: Elles n'ont ni la vue, ni l'intelligence, Afin qu'ils soient dans la confusion.

WLC ⁹ יֹֽצְרֵי־ פֶ֤סֶל כֻּלָּם֙ תֹּ֔הוּ וַחֲמוּדֵיהֶ֖ם בַּל־ יוֹעִ֑ילוּ וְעֵדֵיהֶ֣ם הֵׄ֗מָּׄהׄ בַּל־ יִרְא֛וּ וּבַל־ יֵדְע֖וּ לְמַ֥עַן יֵבֹֽשׁוּ׃

KJV ¹⁰ Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

LSG ¹⁰ Qui est-ce qui fabrique un dieu, ou fond une idole, Pour n'en retirer aucune utilité ?

WLC ¹⁰ מִֽי־ יָצַ֥ר אֵ֖ל וּפֶ֣סֶל נָסָ֑ךְ לְבִלְתִּ֖י הוֹעִֽיל׃

KJV ¹¹ Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

KJV ¹² The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

LSG ¹² Le forgeron fait une hache, Il travaille avec le charbon, Et il la façonne à coups de marteau ; Il la forge d'un bras vigoureux ; Mais a-t-il faim, le voilà sans force ; Ne boit-il pas d'eau, le voilà épuisé.

WLC ¹² חָרַ֤שׁ בַּרְזֶל֙ מַֽעֲצָ֔ד וּפָעַל֙ בַּפֶּחָ֔ם וּבַמַּקָּב֖וֹת יִצְּרֵ֑הוּ וַיִּפְעָלֵ֙הוּ֙ בִּזְר֣וֹעַ כֹּח֔וֹ גַּם־ רָעֵב֙ וְאֵ֣ין כֹּ֔חַ לֹא־ שָׁ֥תָה מַ֖יִם וַיִּיעָֽף׃

KJV ¹³ The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

LSG ¹³ Le charpentier étend le cordeau, Fait un tracé au crayon, Façonne le bois avec un couteau, Et marque ses dimensions avec le compas ; Et il produit une figure d'homme, Une belle forme humaine, Pour qu'elle habite dans une maison.

WLC ¹³ חָרַ֣שׁ עֵצִים֮ נָ֣טָה קָו֒ יְתָאֲרֵ֣הוּ בַשֶּׂ֔רֶד יַעֲשֵׂ֙הוּ֙ בַּמַּקְצֻע֔וֹת וּבַמְּחוּגָ֖ה יְתָאֳרֵ֑הוּ וַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֙הוּ֙ כְּתַבְנִ֣ית אִ֔ישׁ כְּתִפְאֶ֥רֶת אָדָ֖ם לָשֶׁ֥בֶת בָּֽיִת׃

KJV ¹⁴ He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

KJV ¹⁵ Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

LSG ¹⁵ Ces arbres servent à l'homme pour brûler, Il en prend et il se chauffe. Il y met aussi le feu pour cuire du pain ; Et il en fait également un dieu, qu'il adore, Il en fait une idole, devant laquelle il se prosterne.

WLC ¹⁵ וְהָיָ֤ה לְאָדָם֙ לְבָעֵ֔ר וַיִּקַּ֤ח מֵהֶם֙ וַיָּ֔חָם אַף־ יַשִּׂ֖יק וְאָ֣פָה לָ֑חֶם אַף־ יִפְעַל־ אֵל֙ וַיִּשְׁתָּ֔חוּ עָשָׂ֥הוּ פֶ֖סֶל וַיִּסְגָּד־ לָֽמוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁶ He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

LSG ¹⁶ Il brûle au feu la moitié de son bois, Avec cette moitié il cuit de la viande, Il apprête un rôti, et se rassasie ; Il se chauffe aussi, et dit: Ha ! Ha ! Je me chauffe, je vois la flamme !

WLC ¹⁶ חֶצְיוֹ֙ שָׂרַ֣ף בְּמוֹ־ אֵ֔שׁ עַל־ חֶצְיוֹ֙ בָּשָׂ֣ר יֹאכֵ֔ל יִצְלֶ֥ה צָלִ֖י וְיִשְׂבָּ֑ע אַף־ יָחֹם֙ וְיֹאמַ֣ר הֶאָ֔ח חַמּוֹתִ֖י רָאִ֥יתִי אֽוּר׃

KJV ¹⁷ And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

WLC ¹⁷ וּשְׁאֵ֣רִית֔וֹ לְאֵ֥ל עָשָׂ֖ה לְפִסְל֑וֹ ל֤וֹ וְיִשְׁתַּ֙חוּ֙ וְיִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל אֵלָ֔יו וְיֹאמַר֙ הַצִּילֵ֔נִי כִּ֥י אֵלִ֖י אָֽתָּה׃

KJV ¹⁸ They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

LSG ¹⁸ Ils n'ont ni intelligence, ni entendement, Car on leur a fermé les yeux pour qu'ils ne voient point, Et le coeur pour qu'ils ne comprennent point.

WLC ¹⁸ לֹ֥א יָדְע֖וּ וְלֹ֣א יָבִ֑ינוּ כִּ֣י טַ֤ח מֵֽרְאוֹת֙ עֵֽינֵיהֶ֔ם מֵהַשְׂכִּ֖יל לִבֹּתָֽם׃

KJV ¹⁹ And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

LSG ¹⁹ Il ne rentre pas en lui-même, Et il n'a ni l'intelligence, ni le bon sens de dire: J'en ai brûlé une moitié au feu, J'ai cuit du pain sur les charbons, J'ai rôti de la viande et je l'ai mangée ; Et avec le reste je ferais une abomination ! Je me prosternerais devant un morceau de bois !

WLC ¹⁹ וְלֹא־ יָשִׁ֣יב אֶל־ לִבּ֗וֹ וְלֹ֨א דַ֥עַת וְלֹֽא־ תְבוּנָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ חֶצְי֞וֹ שָׂרַ֣פְתִּי בְמוֹ־ אֵ֗שׁ וְ֠אַף אָפִ֤יתִי עַל־ גֶּחָלָיו֙ לֶ֔חֶם אֶצְלֶ֥ה בָשָׂ֖ר וְאֹכֵ֑ל וְיִתְרוֹ֙ לְתוֹעֵבָ֣ה אֶעֱשֶׂ֔ה לְב֥וּל עֵ֖ץ אֶסְגּֽוֹד׃

KJV ²⁰ He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

WLC ²⁰ רֹעֶ֣ה אֵ֔פֶר לֵ֥ב הוּתַ֖ל הִטָּ֑הוּ וְלֹֽא־ יַצִּ֤יל אֶת־ נַפְשׁוֹ֙ וְלֹ֣א יֹאמַ֔ר הֲל֥וֹא שֶׁ֖קֶר בִּימִינִֽי׃

KJV ²¹ Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

LSG ²¹ Souviens-toi de ces choses, ô Jacob ! O Israël ! car tu es mon serviteur ; Je t'ai formé, tu es mon serviteur ; Israël, je ne t'oublierai pas.

KJV ²² I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

KJV ²³ Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

LSG ²³ Cieux, réjouissez-vous ! car l'Éternel a agi ; Profondeurs de la terre, retentissez d'allégresse ! Montagnes, éclatez en cris de joie ! Vous aussi, forêts, avec tous vos arbres ! Car l'Éternel a racheté Jacob, Il a manifesté sa gloire en Israël.

WLC ²³ רָנּ֨וּ שָׁמַ֜יִם כִּֽי־ עָשָׂ֣ה יְהוָ֗ה הָרִ֙יעוּ֙ תַּחְתִּיּ֣וֹת אָ֔רֶץ פִּצְח֤וּ הָרִים֙ רִנָּ֔ה יַ֖עַר וְכָל־ עֵ֣ץ בּ֑וֹ כִּֽי־ גָאַ֤ל יְהוָה֙ יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וּבְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל יִתְפָּאָֽר׃

KJV ²⁴ Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

KJV ²⁵ That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

LSG ²⁵ J'anéantis les signes des prophètes de mensonge, Et je proclame insensés les devins ; Je fais reculer les sages, Et je tourne leur science en folie.

WLC ²⁵ מֵפֵר֙ אֹת֣וֹת בַּדִּ֔ים וְקֹסְמִ֖ים יְהוֹלֵ֑ל מֵשִׁ֧יב חֲכָמִ֛ים אָח֖וֹר וְדַעְתָּ֥ם יְשַׂכֵּֽל׃

KJV ²⁶ That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

LSG ²⁶ Je confirme la parole de mon serviteur, Et j'accomplis ce que prédisent mes envoyés ; Je dis de Jérusalem: Elle sera habitée, Et des villes de Juda: Elles seront rebâties ; Et je relèverai leurs ruines.

KJV ²⁷ That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

WLC ²⁷ הָאֹמֵ֥ר לַצּוּלָ֖ה חֳרָ֑בִי וְנַהֲרֹתַ֖יִךְ אוֹבִֽישׁ׃

KJV ²⁸ That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

LSG ²⁸ Je dis de Cyrus: Il est mon berger, Et il accomplira toute ma volonté ; Il dira de Jérusalem: Qu'elle soit rebâtie ! Et du temple: Qu'il soit fondé !

KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

WLC ¹ כֹּה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָה֮ לִמְשִׁיחוֹ֮ לְכ֣וֹרֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־ הֶחֱזַ֣קְתִּי בִֽימִינ֗וֹ לְרַד־ לְפָנָיו֙ גּוֹיִ֔ם וּמָתְנֵ֥י מְלָכִ֖ים אֲפַתֵּ֑חַ לִפְתֹּ֤חַ לְפָנָיו֙ דְּלָתַ֔יִם וּשְׁעָרִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִסָּגֵֽרוּ׃

KJV ² I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

LSG ² Qu'il tient par la main, Pour terrasser les nations devant lui, Et pour relâcher la ceinture des rois, Pour lui ouvrir les portes, Afin qu'elles ne soient plus fermées ; Je marcherai devant toi, J'aplanirai les chemins montueux, Je romprai les portes d'airain, Et je briserai les verrous de fer.

WLC ² אֲנִי֙ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ אֵלֵ֔ךְ וַהֲדוּרִ֖ים דַּלְת֤וֹת נְחוּשָׁה֙ אֲשַׁבֵּ֔ר וּבְרִיחֵ֥י בַרְזֶ֖ל אֲגַדֵּֽעַ׃

KJV ³ And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

LSG ³ Je te donnerai des trésors cachés, Des richesses enfouies, Afin que tu saches Que je suis l'Éternel qui t'appelle par ton nom, Le Dieu d'Israël.

WLC ³ וְנָתַתִּ֤י לְךָ֙ אוֹצְר֣וֹת חֹ֔שֶׁךְ וּמַטְמֻנֵ֖י מִסְתָּרִ֑ים לְמַ֣עַן תֵּדַ֗ע כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֧י יְהוָ֛ה הַקּוֹרֵ֥א בְשִׁמְךָ֖ אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁷ I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

KJV ⁸ Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.

KJV ⁹ Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

KJV ²⁰ Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.

KJV ²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

LSG ²¹ Déclarez-le, et faites-les venir ! Qu'ils prennent conseil les uns des autres ! Qui a prédit ces choses dès le commencement, Et depuis longtemps les a annoncées ? N'est-ce pas moi, l'Éternel ? Il n'y a point d'autre Dieu que moi, Je suis le seul Dieu juste et qui sauve.

KJV ²² Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

KJV ²⁴ Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

KJV ⁴ And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

KJV ⁵ To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?

KJV ⁷ They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.

WLC ¹² שִׁמְע֥וּ אֵלַ֖י אַבִּ֣ירֵי לֵ֑ב הָרְחוֹקִ֖ים מִצְּדָקָֽה׃

KJV ¹³ I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.

LSG ¹³ Je fais approcher ma justice: elle n'est pas loin ; Et mon salut: il ne tardera pas. Je mettrai le salut en Sion, Et ma gloire sur Israël.

WLC ¹³ קֵרַ֤בְתִּי צִדְקָתִי֙ לֹ֣א תִרְחָ֔ק וּתְשׁוּעָתִ֖י לֹ֣א תְאַחֵ֑ר וְנָתַתִּ֤י בְצִיּוֹן֙ תְּשׁוּעָ֔ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּפְאַרְתִּֽי׃

KJV ¹ Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

LSG ¹ Descends, et assieds-toi dans la poussière, Vierge, fille de Babylone ! Assieds-toi à terre, sans trône, Fille des Chaldéens ! On ne t'appellera plus délicate et voluptueuse.

WLC ¹ רְדִ֣י ׀ וּשְׁבִ֣י עַל־ עָפָ֗ר בְּתוּלַת֙ בַּת־ בָּבֶ֔ל שְׁבִי־ לָאָ֥רֶץ אֵין־ כִּסֵּ֖א בַּת־ כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים כִּ֣י לֹ֤א תוֹסִ֙יפִי֙ יִקְרְאוּ־ לָ֔ךְ רַכָּ֖ה וַעֲנֻגָּֽה׃

KJV ² Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.

LSG ² Prends les meules, et mouds de la farine ; Ote ton voile, relève les pans de ta robe, Découvre tes jambes, traverse les fleuves !

WLC ² קְחִ֥י רֵחַ֖יִם וְטַ֣חֲנִי קָ֑מַח גַּלִּ֨י צַמָּתֵ֧ךְ חֶשְׂפִּי־ שֹׁ֛בֶל גַּלִּי־ שׁ֖וֹק עִבְרִ֥י נְהָרֽוֹת׃

KJV ³ Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.

LSG ³ Ta nudité sera découverte, Et ta honte sera vue. J'exercerai ma vengeance, Je n'épargnerai personne. -

WLC ³ תִּגָּל֙ עֶרְוָתֵ֔ךְ גַּ֥ם תֵּרָאֶ֖ה חֶרְפָּתֵ֑ךְ נָקָ֣ם אֶקָּ֔ח וְלֹ֥א אֶפְגַּ֖ע אָדָֽם׃

KJV ⁴ As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

LSG ⁴ Notre rédempteur, c'est celui qui s'appelle l'Éternel des armées, C'est le Saint d'Israël. -

WLC ⁴ גֹּאֲלֵ֕נוּ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמ֑וֹ קְד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

KJV ⁵ Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

LSG ⁵ Assieds-toi en silence, et va dans les ténèbres, Fille des Chaldéens ! On ne t'appellera plus la souveraine des royaumes.

WLC ⁵ שְׁבִ֥י דוּמָ֛ם וּבֹ֥אִי בַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ בַּת־ כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים כִּ֣י לֹ֤א תוֹסִ֙יפִי֙ יִקְרְאוּ־ לָ֔ךְ גְּבֶ֖רֶת מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁶ I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

LSG ⁶ J'étais irrité contre mon peuple, J'avais profané mon héritage, Et je les avais livrés entre tes mains: Tu n'as pas eu pour eux de la compassion, Tu as durement appesanti ton joug sur le vieillard.

WLC ⁶ קָצַ֣פְתִּי עַל־ עַמִּ֗י חִלַּ֙לְתִּי֙ נַחֲלָתִ֔י וָאֶתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיָדֵ֑ךְ לֹא־ שַׂ֤מְתְּ לָהֶם֙ רַחֲמִ֔ים עַל־ זָקֵ֕ן הִכְבַּ֥דְתְּ עֻלֵּ֖ךְ מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ⁷ And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

LSG ⁷ Tu disais: A toujours je serai souveraine ! Tu n'as point mis dans ton esprit, Tu n'as point songé que cela prendrait fin.

WLC ⁷ וַתֹּ֣אמְרִ֔י לְעוֹלָ֖ם אֶהְיֶ֣ה גְבָ֑רֶת עַ֣ד לֹא־ שַׂ֥מְתְּ אֵ֙לֶּה֙ עַל־ לִבֵּ֔ךְ לֹ֥א זָכַ֖רְתְּ אַחֲרִיתָֽהּ׃

KJV ⁸ Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

LSG ⁸ Écoute maintenant ceci, voluptueuse, Qui t'assieds avec assurance, Et qui dis en ton coeur: Moi, et rien que moi ! Je ne serai jamais veuve, Et je ne serai jamais privée d'enfants !

WLC ⁸ וְעַתָּ֞ה שִׁמְעִי־ זֹ֤את עֲדִינָה֙ הַיּוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת לָבֶ֔טַח הָאֹֽמְרָה֙ בִּלְבָ֔בָהּ אֲנִ֖י וְאַפְסִ֣י ע֑וֹד לֹ֤א אֵשֵׁב֙ אַלְמָנָ֔ה וְלֹ֥א אֵדַ֖ע שְׁכֽוֹל׃

KJV ⁹ But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.

LSG ⁹ Ces deux choses t'arriveront subitement, au même jour, La privation d'enfants et le veuvage ; Elles fondront en plein sur toi, Malgré la multitude de tes sortilèges, Malgré le grand nombre de tes enchantements.

WLC ⁹ וְתָבֹאנָה֩ לָּ֨ךְ שְׁתֵּי־ אֵ֥לֶּה רֶ֛גַע בְּי֥וֹם אֶחָ֖ד שְׁכ֣וֹל וְאַלְמֹ֑ן כְּתֻמָּם֙ בָּ֣אוּ עָלַ֔יִךְ בְּרֹ֣ב כְּשָׁפַ֔יִךְ בְּעָצְמַ֥ת חֲבָרַ֖יִךְ מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ¹⁰ For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.

LSG ¹⁰ Tu avais confiance dans ta méchanceté, Tu disais: Personne ne me voit ! Ta sagesse et ta science t'ont séduite. Et tu disais en ton coeur: Moi, et rien que moi !

WLC ¹⁰ וַתִּבְטְחִ֣י בְרָעָתֵ֗ךְ אָמַרְתְּ֙ אֵ֣ין רֹאָ֔נִי חָכְמָתֵ֥ךְ וְדַעְתֵּ֖ךְ הִ֣יא שׁוֹבְבָ֑תֶךְ וַתֹּאמְרִ֣י בְלִבֵּ֔ךְ אֲנִ֖י וְאַפְסִ֥י עֽוֹד׃

KJV ¹¹ Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.

LSG ¹¹ Le malheur viendra sur toi, Sans que tu en voies l'aurore ; La calamité tombera sur toi, Sans que tu puisses la conjurer ; Et la ruine fondra sur toi tout à coup, A l'improviste.

WLC ¹¹ וּבָ֧א עָלַ֣יִךְ רָעָ֗ה לֹ֤א תֵדְעִי֙ שַׁחְרָ֔הּ וְתִפֹּ֤ל עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ הֹוָ֔ה לֹ֥א תוּכְלִ֖י כַּפְּרָ֑הּ וְתָבֹ֨א עָלַ֧יִךְ פִּתְאֹ֛ם שׁוֹאָ֖ה לֹ֥א תֵדָֽעִי׃

KJV ¹² Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.

LSG ¹² Reste donc au milieu de tes enchantements Et de la multitude de tes sortilèges, Auxquels tu as consacré ton travail dès ta jeunesse ; Peut-être pourras-tu en tirer profit, Peut-être deviendras-tu redoutable.

WLC ¹² עִמְדִי־ נָ֤א בַחֲבָרַ֙יִךְ֙ וּבְרֹ֣ב כְּשָׁפַ֔יִךְ בַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָגַ֖עַתְּ מִנְּעוּרָ֑יִךְ אוּלַ֛י תּוּכְלִ֥י הוֹעִ֖יל אוּלַ֥י תַּעֲרֽוֹצִי׃

KJV ¹³ Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.

LSG ¹³ Tu t'es fatiguée à force de consulter: Qu'ils se lèvent donc et qu'ils te sauvent, Ceux qui connaissent le ciel, Qui observent les astres, Qui annoncent, d'après les nouvelles lunes, Ce qui doit t'arriver !

WLC ¹³ נִלְאֵ֖ית בְּרֹ֣ב עֲצָתָ֑יִךְ יַעַמְדוּ־ נָ֨א וְיוֹשִׁיעֻ֜ךְ שָׁמַ֗יִם הַֽחֹזִים֙ בַּכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים מֽוֹדִיעִם֙ לֶחֳדָשִׁ֔ים מֵאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָבֹ֖אוּ עָלָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ¹⁴ Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

LSG ¹⁴ Voici, ils sont comme de la paille, le feu les consume, Ils ne sauveront pas leur vie des flammes: Ce ne sera pas du charbon dont on se chauffe, Ni un feu auprès duquel on s'assied.

WLC ¹⁴ הִנֵּ֨ה הָי֤וּ כְקַשׁ֙ אֵ֣שׁ שְׂרָפָ֔תַם לֹֽא־ יַצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־ נַפְשָׁ֖ם מִיַּ֣ד לֶֽהָבָ֑ה אֵין־ גַּחֶ֣לֶת לַחְמָ֔ם א֖וּר לָשֶׁ֥בֶת נֶגְדּֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁵ Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

LSG ¹⁵ Tel sera le sort de ceux que tu te fatiguais à consulter. Et ceux avec qui tu as trafiqué dès ta jeunesse Se disperseront chacun de son côté: Il n'y aura personne qui vienne à ton secours.

WLC ¹⁵ כֵּ֥ן הָיוּ־ לָ֖ךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָגָ֑עַתְּ סֹחֲרַ֣יִךְ מִנְּעוּרַ֗יִךְ אִ֤ישׁ לְעֶבְרוֹ֙ תָּע֔וּ אֵ֖ין מוֹשִׁיעֵֽךְ׃

KJV ¹ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

LSG ¹ Écoutez ceci, maison de Jacob, Vous qui portez le nom d'Israël, Et qui êtes sortis des eaux de Juda ; Vous qui jurez par le nom de l'Éternel, Et qui invoquez le Dieu d'Israël, Mais sans vérité ni droiture !

WLC ¹ שִׁמְעוּ־ זֹ֣את בֵּֽית־ יַעֲקֹ֗ב הַנִּקְרָאִים֙ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וּמִמֵּ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה יָצָ֑אוּ הַֽנִּשְׁבָּעִ֣ים ׀ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֗ה וּבֵאלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יַזְכִּ֔ירוּ לֹ֥א בֶאֱמֶ֖ת וְלֹ֥א בִצְדָקָֽה׃

KJV ² For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

LSG ² Car ils prennent leur nom de la ville sainte, Et ils s'appuient sur le Dieu d'Israël, Dont le nom est l'Éternel des armées.

WLC ² כִּֽי־ מֵעִ֤יר הַקֹּ֙דֶשׁ֙ נִקְרָ֔אוּ וְעַל־ אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל נִסְמָ֑כוּ יְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃

KJV ³ I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

LSG ³ Dès longtemps j'ai fait les premières prédictions, Elles sont sorties de ma bouche, et je les ai publiées: Soudain j'ai agi, et elles se sont accomplies.

WLC ³ הָרִֽאשֹׁנוֹת֙ מֵאָ֣ז הִגַּ֔דְתִּי וּמִפִּ֥י יָצְא֖וּ וְאַשְׁמִיעֵ֑ם פִּתְאֹ֥ם עָשִׂ֖יתִי וַתָּבֹֽאנָה׃

KJV ⁴ Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

LSG ⁴ Sachant que tu es endurci, Que ton cou est une barre de fer, Et que tu as un front d'airain,

WLC ⁴ מִדַּעְתִּ֕י כִּ֥י קָשֶׁ֖ה אָ֑תָּה וְגִ֤יד בַּרְזֶל֙ עָרְפֶּ֔ךָ וּמִצְחֲךָ֖ נְחוּשָֽׁה׃

KJV ⁵ I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

LSG ⁵ Je t'ai annoncé dès longtemps ces choses, je te les ai déclarées avant qu'elles arrivassent, Afin que tu ne dises pas: C'est mon idole qui les a faites, C'est mon image taillée ou mon image en fonte qui les a ordonnées.

WLC ⁵ וָאַגִּ֤יד לְךָ֙ מֵאָ֔ז בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּב֖וֹא הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֑יךָ פֶּן־ תֹּאמַר֙ עָצְבִּ֣י עָשָׂ֔ם וּפִסְלִ֥י וְנִסְכִּ֖י צִוָּֽם׃

KJV ⁶ Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

LSG ⁶ Tu entends ! Considère tout cela ! Et vous, ne l'avouerez-vous pas ?... Maintenant, je t'annonce des choses nouvelles, Cachées, inconnues de toi.

WLC ⁶ שָׁמַ֤עְתָּֽ חֲזֵה֙ כֻּלָּ֔הּ וְאַתֶּ֖ם הֲל֣וֹא תַגִּ֑ידוּ הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֤יךָ חֲדָשׁוֹת֙ מֵעַ֔תָּה וּנְצֻר֖וֹת וְלֹ֥א יְדַעְתָּֽם׃

KJV ⁷ They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

LSG ⁷ Elles se produisent à présent, et n'appartiennent point au passé ; Jusqu'à leur avènement tu n'en avais aucune connaissance, Afin que tu ne dises pas: Voici, je le savais.

WLC ⁷ עַתָּ֤ה נִבְרְאוּ֙ וְלֹ֣א מֵאָ֔ז וְלִפְנֵי־ י֖וֹם וְלֹ֣א שְׁמַעְתָּ֑ם פֶּן־ תֹּאמַ֖ר הִנֵּ֥ה יְדַעְתִּֽין׃

KJV ⁸ Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

LSG ⁸ Tu n'en as rien appris, tu n'en as rien su, Et jadis ton oreille n'en a point été frappée: Car je savais que tu serais infidèle, Et que dès ta naissance tu fus appelé rebelle.

WLC ⁸ גַּ֣ם לֹֽא־ שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ גַּ֚ם לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתָּ גַּ֕ם מֵאָ֖ז לֹא־ פִתְּחָ֣ה אָזְנֶ֑ךָ כִּ֤י יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ בָּג֣וֹד תִּבְגּ֔וֹד וּפֹשֵׁ֥עַ מִבֶּ֖טֶן קֹ֥רָא לָֽךְ׃

KJV ⁹ For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

LSG ⁹ A cause de mon nom, je suspends ma colère ; A cause de ma gloire, je me contiens envers toi, Pour ne pas t'exterminer.

WLC ⁹ לְמַ֤עַן שְׁמִי֙ אַאֲרִ֣יךְ אַפִּ֔י וּתְהִלָּתִ֖י אֶחֱטָם־ לָ֑ךְ לְבִלְתִּ֖י הַכְרִיתֶֽךָ׃

KJV ¹⁰ Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

LSG ¹⁰ Je t'ai mis au creuset, mais non pour retirer de l'argent ; Je t'ai éprouvé dans la fournaise de l'adversité.

WLC ¹⁰ הִנֵּ֥ה צְרַפְתִּ֖יךָ וְלֹ֣א בְכָ֑סֶף בְּחַרְתִּ֖יךָ בְּכ֥וּר עֹֽנִי׃

KJV ¹¹ For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

LSG ¹¹ C'est pour l'amour de moi, pour l'amour de moi, que je veux agir ; Car comment mon nom serait-il profané ? Je ne donnerai pas ma gloire à un autre.

WLC ¹¹ לְמַעֲנִ֧י לְמַעֲנִ֛י אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה כִּ֣י אֵ֣יךְ יֵחָ֑ל וּכְבוֹדִ֖י לְאַחֵ֥ר לֹֽא־ אֶתֵּֽן׃

KJV ¹² Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

LSG ¹² Écoute-moi, Jacob ! Et toi, Israël, que j'ai appelé ! C'est moi, moi qui suis le premier, C'est aussi moi qui suis le dernier.

KJV ¹³ Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

LSG ¹³ Ma main a fondé la terre, Et ma droite a étendu les cieux: Je les appelle, et aussitôt ils se présentent.

WLC ¹³ אַף־ יָדִי֙ יָ֣סְדָה אֶ֔רֶץ וִֽימִינִ֖י טִפְּחָ֣ה שָׁמָ֑יִם קֹרֵ֥א אֲנִ֛י אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם יַעַמְד֥וּ יַחְדָּֽו׃

KJV ¹⁴ All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

LSG ¹⁴ Vous tous, assemblez-vous, et écoutez ! Qui d'entre eux a annoncé ces choses ? Celui que l'Éternel aime exécutera sa volonté contre Babylone, Et son bras s'appesantira sur les Chaldéens.

WLC ¹⁴ הִקָּבְצ֤וּ כֻלְּכֶם֙ וּֽשֲׁמָ֔עוּ מִ֥י בָהֶ֖ם הִגִּ֣יד אֶת־ אֵ֑לֶּה יְהוָ֣ה אֲהֵב֔וֹ יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה חֶפְצוֹ֙ בְּבָבֶ֔ל וּזְרֹע֖וֹ כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

KJV ¹⁵ I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

LSG ¹⁵ Moi, moi, j'ai parlé, et je l'ai appelé ; Je l'ai fait venir, et son oeuvre réussira.

WLC ¹⁵ אֲנִ֥י אֲנִ֛י דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי אַף־ קְרָאתִ֑יו הֲבִיאֹתִ֖יו וְהִצְלִ֥יחַ דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁶ Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

LSG ¹⁶ Approchez-vous de moi, et écoutez ! Dès le commencement, je n'ai point parlé en cachette, Dès l'origine de ces choses, j'ai été là. Et maintenant, le Seigneur, l'Éternel, m'a envoyé avec son esprit.

WLC ¹⁶ קִרְב֧וּ אֵלַ֣י שִׁמְעוּ־ זֹ֗את לֹ֤א מֵרֹאשׁ֙ בַּסֵּ֣תֶר דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי מֵעֵ֥ת הֱיוֹתָ֖הּ שָׁ֣ם אָ֑נִי וְעַתָּ֗ה אֲדֹנָ֧י יְהוִ֛ה שְׁלָחַ֖נִי וְרוּחֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁷ Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

LSG ¹⁷ Ainsi parle l'Éternel, ton rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël: Moi, l'Éternel, ton Dieu, je t'instruis pour ton bien, Je te conduis dans la voie que tu dois suivre.

KJV ¹⁸ O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

LSG ¹⁸ Oh ! si tu étais attentif à mes commandements ! Ton bien-être serait comme un fleuve, Et ton bonheur comme les flots de la mer ;

WLC ¹⁸ ל֥וּא הִקְשַׁ֖בְתָּ לְמִצְוֺתָ֑י וַיְהִ֤י כַנָּהָר֙ שְׁלוֹמֶ֔ךָ וְצִדְקָתְךָ֖ כְּגַלֵּ֥י הַיָּֽם׃

KJV ¹⁹ Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

LSG ¹⁹ Ta postérité serait comme le sable, Et les fruits de tes entrailles comme les grains de sable ; Ton nom ne serait point effacé, anéanti devant moi.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיְהִ֤י כַחוֹל֙ זַרְעֶ֔ךָ וְצֶאֱצָאֵ֥י מֵעֶ֖יךָ כִּמְעֹתָ֑יו לֹֽא־ יִכָּרֵ֧ת וְֽלֹא־ יִשָּׁמֵ֛ד שְׁמ֖וֹ מִלְּפָנָֽי׃

KJV ²⁰ Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

LSG ²⁰ Sortez de Babylone, fuyez du milieu des Chaldéens ! Avec une voix d'allégresse annoncez-le, publiez-le, Faites-le savoir jusqu'à l'extrémité de la terre, Dites: L'Éternel a racheté son serviteur Jacob !

WLC ²⁰ צְא֣וּ מִבָּבֶל֮ בִּרְח֣וּ מִכַּשְׂדִּים֒ בְּק֣וֹל רִנָּ֗ה הַגִּ֤ידוּ הַשְׁמִ֙יעוּ֙ זֹ֔את הוֹצִיא֖וּהָ עַד־ קְצֵ֣ה הָאָ֑רֶץ אִמְר֕וּ גָּאַ֥ל יְהוָ֖ה עַבְדּ֥וֹ יַעֲקֹֽב׃

KJV ²¹ And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

LSG ²¹ Et ils n'auront pas soif dans les déserts où il les conduira: Il fera jaillir pour eux l'eau du rocher, Il fendra le rocher, Et l'eau coulera.

WLC ²¹ וְלֹ֣א צָמְא֗וּ בָּחֳרָבוֹת֙ הֽוֹלִיכָ֔ם מַ֥יִם מִצּ֖וּר הִזִּ֣יל לָ֑מוֹ וַיִּ֨בְקַע־ צ֔וּר וַיָּזֻ֖בוּ מָֽיִם׃

KJV ²² There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
