DRB ¹ Ainsi dit l'Éternel : Où est la lettre de divorce de votre mère que j'ai renvoyée ? Ou, qui est celui de mes créanciers auquel je vous ai vendus ? Voici, vous vous êtes vendus par vos iniquités, et à cause de vos transgressions votre mère a été renvoyée.

KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

DRB ² Pourquoi suis-je venu, et il n'y a eu personne ? [Pourquoi] ai-je appelé, et il n'y a eu personne qui répondît ? Ma main est-elle devenue trop courte pour que je puisse racheter, et n'y a-t-il pas de force en moi pour délivrer ? Voici, par ma réprimande je dessèche la mer, je fais des rivières un désert ; leurs poissons deviennent puants, faute d'eau, et meurent de soif.

KJV ² Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

VULC ² Quia veni, et non erat vir ;
vocavi, et non erat qui audiret.
Numquid abbreviata et parvula facta est manus mea,
ut non possim redimere ?

DRB ³ Je revêts les cieux de noirceur, et je leur donne un sac pour couverture.

KJV ³ I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

VULC ³ Induam cælos tenebris,
et saccum ponam operimentum eorum.]

WLC ³ אַלְבִּ֥ישׁ שָׁמַ֖יִם קַדְר֑וּת וְשַׂ֖ק אָשִׂ֥ים כְּסוּתָֽם׃

DRB ⁴ Le Seigneur l'Éternel m'a donné la langue des savants*, pour que je sache soutenir par une parole** celui qui est las. Il [me] réveille chaque matin, il réveille mon oreille pour que j'écoute comme ceux qu'on enseigne***.

KJV ⁴ The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

linguam eruditam,

DRB ⁵ Le Seigneur l'Éternel m'a ouvert l'oreille, et moi je n'ai pas été rebelle, je ne me suis pas retiré en arrière.

KJV ⁵ The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

VULC ⁵ Dominus Deus aperuit mihi aurem,
ego autem non contradico :
retrorsum non abii.

WLC ⁵ אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ פָּתַֽח־ לִ֣י אֹ֔זֶן וְאָנֹכִ֖י לֹ֣א מָרִ֑יתִי אָח֖וֹר לֹ֥א נְסוּגֹֽתִי׃

DRB ⁶ J'ai donné mon dos à ceux qui frappaient, et mes joues à ceux qui arrachaient le poil ; je n'ai pas caché ma face à l'opprobre et aux crachats.

KJV ⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

VULC ⁶ Corpus meum dedi percutientibus,

et conspuentibus in me.

DRB ⁷ Mais le Seigneur l'Éternel m'aidera : c'est pourquoi je ne serai pas confondu ; c'est pourquoi j'ai dressé ma face comme un caillou, et je sais que je ne serai pas confus.

KJV ⁷ For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

ideo non sum confusus ;
ideo posui faciem meam ut petram durissimam,

DRB ⁸ Celui qui me justifie est proche : qui contestera avec moi ? - tenons-nous là ensemble. Qui plaidera contre moi en jugement ? - qu'il s'approche de moi !

KJV ⁸ He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

VULC ⁸ Juxta est qui justificat me ; quis contradicet mihi ?

quis est adversarius meus ? accedat ad me.

WLC ⁸ קָרוֹב֙ מַצְדִּיקִ֔י מִֽי־ יָרִ֥יב אִתִּ֖י נַ֣עַמְדָה יָּ֑חַד מִֽי־ בַ֥עַל מִשְׁפָּטִ֖י יִגַּ֥שׁ אֵלָֽי׃

DRB ⁹ Voici, le Seigneur l'Éternel m'aidera : qui me condamnera ? Voici, ils vieilliront tous comme un vêtement, la teigne les dévorera.

KJV ⁹ Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

VULC ⁹ Ecce Dominus Deus auxiliator meus ;
quis est qui condemnet me ?
Ecce omnes quasi vestimentum conterentur ;
tinea comedet eos.

WLC ⁹ הֵ֣ן אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ יַֽעֲזָר־ לִ֔י מִי־ ה֖וּא יַרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי הֵ֤ן כֻּלָּם֙ כַּבֶּ֣גֶד יִבְל֔וּ עָ֖שׁ יֹאכְלֵֽם׃

DRB ¹⁰ Qui d'entre vous craint l'Éternel, qui entend la voix de son serviteur, quiconque marche dans les ténèbres et n'a pas de lumière, qu'il se confie dans le nom de l'Éternel et s'appuie sur son Dieu.

KJV ¹⁰ Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.

DRB ¹¹ Voici, vous tous qui allumez un feu, qui vous entourez d'étincelles, marchez à la lumière de votre feu et des étincelles que vous avez allumées ; c'est ici ce que vous aurez de ma main : vous coucherez dans la douleur.

KJV ¹¹ Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
