KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

MAR ¹ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel ; où sont les lettres de divorce de votre mère que j'ai renvoyée ? ou qui est celui de mes créanciers à qui je vous aie vendus ? voilà, vous avez été vendus pour vos iniquités, et votre mère a été renvoyée pour vos forfaits.

Quis est hic liber repudii matris vestræ,
quo dimisi eam ?
aut quis est creditor meus,

Ecce in iniquitatibus vestris venditi estis,

KJV ² Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.

MAR ² Pourquoi suis-je venu, et il ne s'est trouvé personne ? j'ai crié, et il n'y a personne qui ait répondu. Ma main est-elle en quelque sorte raccourcie, tellement que je ne puisse pas racheter ? ou n'y a-t-il plus de force en moi pour délivrer ? Voici, je fais tarir la mer, quand je la tance ; je réduis les fleuves en désert, tellement que leur poisson devient puant, étant mort de soif, parce qu'il n'y a point d'eau.

VULC ² Quia veni, et non erat vir ;
vocavi, et non erat qui audiret.
Numquid abbreviata et parvula facta est manus mea,
ut non possim redimere ?
aut non est in me virtus ad liberandum ?
Ecce in increpatione mea desertum faciam mare,
ponam flumina in siccum ;
computrescent pisces sine aqua,
et morientur in siti.

WLC ² מַדּ֨וּעַ בָּ֜אתִי וְאֵ֣ין אִ֗ישׁ קָרָֽאתִי֮ וְאֵ֣ין עוֹנֶה֒ הֲקָצ֨וֹר קָצְרָ֤ה יָדִי֙ מִפְּד֔וּת וְאִם־ אֵֽין־ בִּ֥י כֹ֖חַ לְהַצִּ֑יל הֵ֣ן בְּגַעֲרָתִ֞י אַחֲרִ֣יב יָ֗ם אָשִׂ֤ים נְהָרוֹת֙ מִדְבָּ֔ר תִּבְאַ֤שׁ דְּגָתָם֙ מֵאֵ֣ין מַ֔יִם וְתָמֹ֖ת בַּצָּמָֽא׃

KJV ³ I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

MAR ³ Je revêts les cieux de noirceur, et je mets un sac pour leur couverture.

KJV ⁴ The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

MAR ⁴ Le Seigneur l'Eternel m'a donné la langue des savants, pour savoir assaisonner la parole à celui qui est accablé de [maux] ; chaque matin il me réveille soigneusement afin que je prête l'oreille aux discours des sages.

linguam eruditam,
ut sciam sustentare eum qui lassus est verbo.
Erigit mane,
mane erigit mihi aurem,
ut audiam quasi magistrum.

KJV ⁵ The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

KJV ⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

MAR ⁶ J'ai exposé mon dos à ceux qui me frappaient, et mes joues à ceux qui me tiraient le poil, je n'ai point caché mon visage en arrière des opprobres, ni des crachats.

VULC ⁶ Corpus meum dedi percutientibus,
et genas meas vellentibus ;
faciem meam non averti ab increpantibus
et conspuentibus in me.

WLC ⁶ גֵּוִי֙ נָתַ֣תִּי לְמַכִּ֔ים וּלְחָיַ֖י לְמֹֽרְטִ֑ים פָּנַי֙ לֹ֣א הִסְתַּ֔רְתִּי מִכְּלִמּ֖וֹת וָרֹֽק׃

KJV ⁷ For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

MAR ⁷ Mais le Seigneur l'Eternel m'a aidé, c'est pourquoi je n'ai point été confus ; et ainsi, j'ai rendu mon visage semblable à un caillou ; car je sais que je ne serai point rendu honteux.

VULC ⁷ Dominus Deus auxiliator meus,
ideo non sum confusus ;
ideo posui faciem meam ut petram durissimam,
et scio quoniam non confundar.

WLC ⁷ וַאדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ יַֽעֲזָר־ לִ֔י עַל־ כֵּ֖ן לֹ֣א נִכְלָ֑מְתִּי עַל־ כֵּ֞ן שַׂ֤מְתִּי פָנַי֙ כַּֽחַלָּמִ֔ישׁ וָאֵדַ֖ע כִּי־ לֹ֥א אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃

KJV ⁸ He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

MAR ⁸ Celui qui me justifie est près ; qui est-ce qui plaidera contre moi ? comparaissons ensemble ; qui est-ce qui est mon adverse partie ? qu'il approche de moi.

VULC ⁸ Juxta est qui justificat me ; quis contradicet mihi ?

quis est adversarius meus ? accedat ad me.

WLC ⁸ קָרוֹב֙ מַצְדִּיקִ֔י מִֽי־ יָרִ֥יב אִתִּ֖י נַ֣עַמְדָה יָּ֑חַד מִֽי־ בַ֥עַל מִשְׁפָּטִ֖י יִגַּ֥שׁ אֵלָֽי׃

KJV ⁹ Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

MAR ⁹ Voilà, le Seigneur, l'Eternel m'aidera, qui sera-ce qui me condamnera ? voilà, eux tous seront usés comme un vêtement, la teigne les rongera.

VULC ⁹ Ecce Dominus Deus auxiliator meus ;
quis est qui condemnet me ?
Ecce omnes quasi vestimentum conterentur ;
tinea comedet eos.

WLC ⁹ הֵ֣ן אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ יַֽעֲזָר־ לִ֔י מִי־ ה֖וּא יַרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי הֵ֤ן כֻּלָּם֙ כַּבֶּ֣גֶד יִבְל֔וּ עָ֖שׁ יֹאכְלֵֽם׃

KJV ¹⁰ Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.

MAR ¹⁰ Qui est celui d'entre vous qui craigne l'Eternel, [et] qui écoute la voix de son serviteur ? Que celui qui a marché dans les ténèbres, et qui n'avait point de clarté, ait confiance au Nom de l'Eternel, et qu'il s'appuie sur son Dieu.

audiens vocem servi sui ?
Qui ambulavit in tenebris,

speret in nomine Domini,
et innitatur super Deum suum.

WLC ¹⁰ מִ֤י בָכֶם֙ יְרֵ֣א יְהוָ֔ה שֹׁמֵ֖עַ בְּק֣וֹל עַבְדּ֑וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ הָלַ֣ךְ חֲשֵׁכִ֗ים וְאֵ֥ין נֹ֙גַהּ֙ ל֔וֹ יִבְטַח֙ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה וְיִשָּׁעֵ֖ן בֵּאלֹהָֽיו׃

KJV ¹¹ Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

MAR ¹¹ Voilà, vous tous qui allumez le feu, et qui vous ceignez d'étincelles, marchez à la lueur de votre feu, et dans les étincelles que vous avez embrasées ; ceci vous a été fait de ma main, vous serez gisants dans les tourments.

accincti flammis :
ambulate in lumine ignis vestri,
et in flammis quas succendistis ;
