KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

KJV ² For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

MAR ² Car ma main a fait toutes ces choses, et c'est par moi que toutes ces choses ont eu leur être, dit l'Eternel. Mais à qui regarderai-je ? à celui qui est affligé, et qui a l'esprit brisé, et qui tremble à ma parole.

VULC ² Omnia hæc manus mea fecit,
et facta sunt universa ista,
dicit Dominus ;
ad quem autem respiciam, nisi ad pauperculum,
et contritum spiritu, et trementem sermones meos ?

KJV ³ He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

MAR ³ Celui qui égorge un bœuf, [c'est comme] qui tuerait un homme ; celui qui sacrifie une brebis, c'est [comme] qui couperait le cou à un chien ; celui qui offre un gâteau, [c'est comme qui offrirait] le sang d'un pourceau ; celui qui fait un parfum d'encens, [c'est comme] qui bénirait une idole. Mais ils ont choisi leurs voies, et leur âme a pris plaisir en leurs abominations.

VULC ³ Qui immolat bovem, quasi qui interficiat virum ;
qui mactat pecus, quasi qui excerebret canem ;
qui offert oblationem, quasi qui sanguinem suillum offerat ;
qui recordatur thuris, quasi qui benedicat idolo.
Hæc omnia elegerunt in viis suis,
et in abominationibus suis anima eorum delectata est.

KJV ⁴ I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

MAR ⁴ Moi aussi je ferai attention à leurs tromperies, et je ferai venir sur eux les choses qu'ils craignent ; parce que j'ai crié, et qu'il n'y a eu personne qui répondît : que j'ai parlé, et qu'ils n'ont point écouté ; parce qu'ils ont fait ce qui me déplaît, et qu'ils ont choisi les choses auxquelles je ne prends point de plaisir.

VULC ⁴ Unde et ego eligam illusiones eorum,
et quæ timebant adducam eis ;
quia vocavi, et non erat qui responderet ;
locutus sum, et non audierunt ;
feceruntque malum in oculis meis,
et quæ nolui elegerunt.

KJV ⁵ Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

MAR ⁵ Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel, vous qui tremblez à sa parole ; vos frères qui vous haïssent, et qui vous rejettent comme une chose abominable, à cause de mon Nom, ont dit ; que l'Eternel montre sa gloire. Il sera donc vu à votre joie, mais eux seront honteux.

VULC ⁵ Audite verbum Domini,
qui tremitis ad verbum ejus.
Dixerunt fratres vestri odientes vos,
et abjicientes propter nomen meum :
Glorificetur Dominus,
et videbimus in lætitia vestra ;
ipsi autem confundentur.

KJV ⁶ A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

MAR ⁶ Un son éclatant vient de la ville, un son vient du Temple, le son de l'Eternel, rendant la pareille à ses ennemis.

VULC ⁶ Vox populi de civitate,
vox de templo,
vox Domini
reddentis retributionem inimicis suis.

KJV ⁷ Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

MAR ⁷ Elle a enfanté avant que de sentir le travail d'enfant ; elle a été délivrée d'un enfant mâle, avant que les tranchées lui vinssent.

VULC ⁷ Antequam parturiret, peperit ;
antequam veniret partus ejus,
peperit masculum.

KJV ⁸ Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

MAR ⁸ Qui entendit jamais une telle chose, et qui en a jamais vu de semblables ? Ferait-on qu'un pays fût enfanté en un jour ? ou une nation naîtrait-elle tout d'un coup, que Sion ait enfanté ses fils aussitôt qu'elle a été en travail d'enfant ?

VULC ⁸ Quis audivit umquam tale ?
et quis vidit huic simile ?
numquid parturiet terra in die una,
aut parietur gens simul,
quia parturivit et peperit
Sion filios suos ?

KJV ⁹ Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

MAR ⁹ Moi qui fais enfanter les autres, ne ferais-je point enfanter [Sion] ? a dit l'Eternel ; Moi qui donne de la postérité aux autres, l'empêcherais-je [d'enfanter ?] a dit ton Dieu.

dicit Dominus.
Si ego, qui generationem ceteris tribuo, sterilis ero ?
ait Dominus Deus tuus.

KJV ¹⁰ Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

KJV ¹³ As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

KJV ¹⁴ And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

MAR ¹⁴ Et vous le verrez, et votre cœur se réjouira, et vos os germeront comme l'herbe ; et la main de l'Eternel sera connue envers ses serviteurs ; mais il sera ému à indignation contre ses ennemis.

et ossa vestra quasi herba germinabunt :
et cognoscetur manus Domini servis ejus,
et indignabitur inimicis suis.

KJV ¹⁵ For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

KJV ¹⁶ For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

VULC ¹⁶ quia in igne Dominus dijudicabit,

KJV ¹⁷ They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

MAR ¹⁷ Ceux qui se sanctifient et se purifient au milieu des jardins, l'un après l'autre, qui mangent de la chair de pourceau, et des choses abominables, [comme] des souris, seront ensemble consumés, a dit l'Eternel.

simul consumentur, dicit Dominus.

KJV ¹⁸ For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

KJV ¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

VULC ¹⁹ Et ponam in eis signum,
et mittam ex eis qui salvati fuerint, ad gentes
in mare, in Africam, et Lydiam, tendentes sagittam ;
in Italiam et Græciam,
ad insulas longe,
ad eos qui non audierunt de me,
et non viderunt gloriam meam.
Et annuntiabunt gloriam meam gentibus ;

KJV ²⁰ And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.

MAR ²⁰ Et ils amèneront tous vos frères, d'entre toutes les nations, sur des chevaux, sur des chariots, et dans des litières, sur des mulets, et sur des dromadaires, pour offrande à l'Eternel, à la montagne de ma sainteté, à Jérusalem, a dit l'Eternel, comme lorsque les enfants d'Israël apportent l'offrande dans un vaisseau net, à la maison de l'Eternel.

VULC ²⁰ et adducent omnes fratres vestros
de cunctis gentibus
donum Domino,
in equis, et in quadrigis, et in lecticis,
et in mulis, et in carrucis,
ad montem sanctum meum
Jerusalem, dicit Dominus :
quomodo si inferant filii Israël munus
in vase mundo in domum Domini.

KJV ²¹ And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.

MAR ²¹ Et même j'en prendrai d'entre eux pour Sacrificateurs, [et] pour Lévites, a dit l'Eternel.

KJV ²² For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

KJV ²³ And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

VULC ²³ Et erit mensis ex mense,
et sabbatum ex sabbato :
veniet omnis caro ut adoret coram facie mea,
dicit Dominus.

KJV ²⁴ And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

MAR ²⁴ Et ils sortiront dehors, et verront les corps morts des hommes qui auront péché contre moi ; car leur ver ne mourra point, et leur feu ne sera point éteint ; et ils seront méprisés de tout le monde.

et ignis eorum non extinguetur :
