DRB ¹ Et il arriva, dans les jours d'Achaz, fils de Jotham, fils d'Ozias, roi de Juda, que Retsin, roi de Syrie*, et Pékakh, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, montèrent à Jérusalem pour lui faire la guerre ; ** mais ils ne purent pas l'assiéger.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

WLC ¹ וַיְהִ֡י בִּימֵ֣י אָ֠חָז בֶּן־ יוֹתָ֨ם בֶּן־ עֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה עָלָ֣ה רְצִ֣ין מֶֽלֶךְ־ אֲ֠רָם וּפֶ֨קַח בֶּן־ רְמַלְיָ֤הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה עָלֶ֑יהָ וְלֹ֥א יָכֹ֖ל לְהִלָּחֵ֥ם עָלֶֽיהָ׃

DRB ² Et on rapporta à la maison de David, disant : La Syrie est venue prêter appui à* Éphraïm. Et son cœur fut agité, et le cœur de son peuple, comme les arbres de la forêt sont agités devant le vent.

KJV ² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

WLC ² וַיֻּגַּ֗ד לְבֵ֤ית דָּוִד֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר נָ֥חָֽה אֲרָ֖ם עַל־ אֶפְרָ֑יִם וַיָּ֤נַע לְבָבוֹ֙ וּלְבַ֣ב עַמּ֔וֹ כְּנ֥וֹעַ עֲצֵי־ יַ֖עַר מִפְּנֵי־ רֽוּחַ׃

DRB ³ Et l'Éternel dit à Ésaïe : Sors à la rencontre d'Achaz, toi et Shear-Jashub*, ton fils, au bout de l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur, sur la route du champ du foulon ;

KJV ³ Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶֽל־ יְשַׁעְיָהוּ֒ צֵא־ נָא֙ לִקְרַ֣את אָחָ֔ז אַתָּ֕ה וּשְׁאָ֖ר יָשׁ֣וּב בְּנֶ֑ךָ אֶל־ קְצֵ֗ה תְּעָלַת֙ הַבְּרֵכָ֣ה הָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה אֶל־ מְסִלַּ֖ת שְׂדֵ֥ה כוֹבֵֽס׃

DRB ⁴ et tu lui diras : Prends garde et sois tranquille ; ne crains point, et que ton cœur ne défaille pas devant ces deux bouts* de tisons fumants, devant l'ardeur de la colère de Retsin et de la Syrie, et du fils de Remalia.

KJV ⁴ And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

WLC ⁴ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֵ֠לָיו הִשָּׁמֵ֨ר וְהַשְׁקֵ֜ט אַל־ תִּירָ֗א וּלְבָבְךָ֙ אַל־ יֵרַ֔ךְ מִשְּׁנֵ֨י זַנְב֧וֹת הָאוּדִ֛ים הָעֲשֵׁנִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה בָּחֳרִי־ אַ֛ף רְצִ֥ין וַאֲרָ֖ם וּבֶן־ רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃

DRB ⁵ Parce que la Syrie a formé contre toi de mauvais desseins, Éphraïm [aussi] et le fils de Remalia, disant :

KJV ⁵ Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

WLC ⁵ יַ֗עַן כִּֽי־ יָעַ֥ץ עָלֶ֛יךָ אֲרָ֖ם רָעָ֑ה אֶפְרַ֥יִם וּבֶן־ רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ לֵאמֹֽר׃

DRB ⁶ Montons contre Juda, et jetons-y l'alarme, et faisons-y pour nous une brèche, et établissons pour roi au milieu d'elle le fils de Tabeël ;

KJV ⁶ Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

WLC ⁶ נַעֲלֶ֤ה בִֽיהוּדָה֙ וּנְקִיצֶ֔נָּה וְנַבְקִעֶ֖נָּה אֵלֵ֑ינוּ וְנַמְלִ֥יךְ מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ אֵ֖ת בֶּן־ טָֽבְאַֽל׃

DRB ⁷ ainsi dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel : Il ne s'accomplira pas et n'aura pas lieu ;

KJV ⁷ Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

WLC ⁷ כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה לֹ֥א תָק֖וּם וְלֹ֥א תִֽהְיֶֽה׃

DRB ⁸ car le chef de la Syrie, c'est Damas, et le chef de Damas, c'est Retsin. Et encore soixante-cinq ans, et Éphraïm cessera* d'être un peuple ;

KJV ⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

WLC ⁸ כִּ֣י רֹ֤אשׁ אֲרָם֙ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְרֹ֥אשׁ דַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק רְצִ֑ין וּבְע֗וֹד שִׁשִּׁ֤ים וְחָמֵשׁ֙ שָׁנָ֔ה יֵחַ֥ת אֶפְרַ֖יִם מֵעָֽם׃

DRB ⁹ et le chef d'Éphraïm, c'est la Samarie, et le chef de la Samarie, c'est le fils de Remalia. Si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne subsisterez pas.

KJV ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

WLC ⁹ וְרֹ֤אשׁ אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וְרֹ֥אשׁ שֹׁמְר֖וֹן בֶּן־ רְמַלְיָ֑הוּ אִ֚ם לֹ֣א תַאֲמִ֔ינוּ כִּ֖י לֹ֥א תֵאָמֵֽנוּ׃

DRB ¹⁰ Et l'Éternel parla encore à Achaz, disant :

KJV ¹⁰ Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

WLC ¹⁰ וַיּ֣וֹסֶף יְהוָ֔ה דַּבֵּ֥ר אֶל־ אָחָ֖ז לֵאמֹֽר׃

DRB ¹¹ Demande pour toi un signe de la part de l'Éternel, ton Dieu ; demande-le dans les lieux bas ou dans les hauteurs d'en haut.

KJV ¹¹ Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

WLC ¹¹ שְׁאַל־ לְךָ֣ א֔וֹת מֵעִ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ הַעְמֵ֣ק שְׁאָ֔לָה א֖וֹ הַגְבֵּ֥הַּ לְמָֽעְלָה׃

DRB ¹² Et Achaz dit : Je ne [le] demanderai pas, et je ne tenterai pas l'Éternel.

KJV ¹² But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָחָ֑ז לֹא־ אֶשְׁאַ֥ל וְלֹֽא־ אֲנַסֶּ֖ה אֶת־ יְהוָֽה׃

DRB ¹³ Et il dit : Écoutez donc, maison de David : Est-ce peu de chose pour vous de lasser [la patience] des hommes, que vous lassiez aussi [la patience de] mon Dieu ?

KJV ¹³ And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

WLC ¹³ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר שִׁמְעוּ־ נָ֖א בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֑ד הַמְעַ֤ט מִכֶּם֙ הַלְא֣וֹת אֲנָשִׁ֔ים כִּ֥י תַלְא֖וּ גַּ֥ם אֶת־ אֱלֹהָֽי׃

DRB ¹⁴ C'est pourquoi le Seigneur, lui, vous donnera un signe : Voici, la vierge concevra et elle enfantera un fils, et appellera son nom Emmanuel*.

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

WLC ¹⁴ לָ֠כֵן יִתֵּ֨ן אֲדֹנָ֥י ה֛וּא לָכֶ֖ם א֑וֹת הִנֵּ֣ה הָעַלְמָ֗ה הָרָה֙ וְיֹלֶ֣דֶת בֵּ֔ן וְקָרָ֥את שְׁמ֖וֹ עִמָּ֥נוּ אֵֽל׃

DRB ¹⁵ Il mangera du caillé* et du miel, pour savoir rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.

KJV ¹⁵ Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

WLC ¹⁵ חֶמְאָ֥ה וּדְבַ֖שׁ יֹאכֵ֑ל לְדַעְתּ֛וֹ מָא֥וֹס בָּרָ֖ע וּבָח֥וֹר בַּטּֽוֹב׃

DRB ¹⁶ Car avant que l'enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le pays des deux rois duquel tu as peur* sera abandonné.

KJV ¹⁶ For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

WLC ¹⁶ כִּ֠י בְּטֶ֨רֶם יֵדַ֥ע הַנַּ֛עַר מָאֹ֥ס בָּרָ֖ע וּבָחֹ֣ר בַּטּ֑וֹב תֵּעָזֵ֤ב הָאֲדָמָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַתָּ֣ה קָ֔ץ מִפְּנֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י מְלָכֶֽיהָ׃

DRB ¹⁷ L'Éternel fera venir sur toi, et sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père, des jours qui ne sont pas venus depuis le jour qu'Éphraïm s'est retiré de Juda, - [savoir] le roi d'Assyrie.

KJV ¹⁷ The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

WLC ¹⁷ יָבִ֨יא יְהוָ֜ה עָלֶ֗יךָ וְעַֽל־ עַמְּךָ֮ וְעַל־ בֵּ֣ית אָבִיךָ֒ יָמִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־ בָ֔אוּ לְמִיּ֥וֹם סוּר־ אֶפְרַ֖יִם מֵעַ֣ל יְהוּדָ֑ה אֵ֖ת מֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

DRB ¹⁸ Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que l'Éternel sifflera la mouche qui est au bout des fleuves* d'Égypte, et l'abeille qui est dans le pays d'Assyrie ;

KJV ¹⁸ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

WLC ¹⁸ וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא יִשְׁרֹ֤ק יְהוָה֙ לַזְּב֔וּב אֲשֶׁ֥ר בִּקְצֵ֖ה יְאֹרֵ֣י מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלַ֨דְּבוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּאֶ֥רֶץ אַשּֽׁוּר׃

DRB ¹⁹ et elles viendront et se poseront toutes dans les vallées désertes et dans les fentes des rochers, et sur toutes les broussailles, et sur tous les pâturages.

KJV ¹⁹ And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

WLC ¹⁹ וּבָ֨אוּ וְנָח֤וּ כֻלָּם֙ בְּנַחֲלֵ֣י הַבַּתּ֔וֹת וּבִנְקִיקֵ֖י הַסְּלָעִ֑ים וּבְכֹל֙ הַנַּ֣עֲצוּצִ֔ים וּבְכֹ֖ל הַנַּהֲלֹלִֽים׃

DRB ²⁰ En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir pris à louage au delà du fleuve, avec le roi d'Assyrie, la tête et les poils des pieds, et il* enlèvera aussi la barbe.

KJV ²⁰ In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

WLC ²⁰ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֡וּא יְגַלַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָי֩ בְּתַ֨עַר הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י נָהָר֙ בְּמֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר אֶת־ הָרֹ֖אשׁ וְשַׂ֣עַר הָרַגְלָ֑יִם וְגַ֥ם אֶת־ הַזָּקָ֖ן תִּסְפֶּֽה׃

DRB ²¹ Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, qu'un homme nourrira une jeune vache et deux brebis ;

KJV ²¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

WLC ²¹ וְהָיָ֖ה בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא יְחַיֶּה־ אִ֛ישׁ עֶגְלַ֥ת בָּקָ֖ר וּשְׁתֵּי־ צֹֽאן׃

DRB ²² et il arrivera que, de l'abondance du lait qu'elles donneront, il mangera du caillé ; car tous ceux qui seront de reste au milieu du pays mangeront du caillé* et du miel.

KJV ²² And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

WLC ²² וְהָיָ֗ה מֵרֹ֛ב עֲשׂ֥וֹת חָלָ֖ב יֹאכַ֣ל חֶמְאָ֑ה כִּֽי־ חֶמְאָ֤ה וּדְבַשׁ֙ יֹאכֵ֔ל כָּל־ הַנּוֹתָ֖ר בְּקֶ֥רֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

DRB ²³ Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que tout lieu où il y avait mille ceps de mille [pièces] d'argent, sera [abandonné] aux ronces et aux épines ;

KJV ²³ And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

WLC ²³ וְהָיָה֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִֽהְיֶ֣ה כָל־ מָק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֧ר יִֽהְיֶה־ שָּׁ֛ם אֶ֥לֶף גֶּ֖פֶן בְּאֶ֣לֶף כָּ֑סֶף לַשָּׁמִ֥יר וְלַשַּׁ֖יִת יִֽהְיֶֽה׃

DRB ²⁴ on y viendra avec des flèches et avec l'arc, car tout le pays sera ronces et épines.

KJV ²⁴ With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

WLC ²⁴ בַּחִצִּ֥ים וּבַקֶּ֖שֶׁת יָ֣בוֹא שָׁ֑מָּה כִּי־ שָׁמִ֥יר וָשַׁ֖יִת תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה כָל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

DRB ²⁵ Et toutes les montagnes qu'on cultivait avec la bêche, - on n'y viendra pas, par crainte des ronces et des épines ; et elles seront un lieu pour y envoyer le bœuf, et pour que les brebis le foulent.

KJV ²⁵ And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.

WLC ²⁵ וְכֹ֣ל הֶהָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּמַּעְדֵּר֙ יֵעָ֣דֵר֔וּן לֹֽא־ תָב֣וֹא שָׁ֔מָּה יִרְאַ֖ת שָׁמִ֣יר וָשָׁ֑יִת וְהָיָה֙ לְמִשְׁלַ֣ח שׁ֔וֹר וּלְמִרְמַ֖ס שֶֽׂה׃
