BAN ¹ Et l'Eternel parla à Moïse, disant :

BAN ² Parle aux fils d'Israël et dis-leur de retourner et de camper devant Pi-Hahiroth, entre Migdol et la mer ; vous camperez devant Baal-Tséphon, en face de ce lieu-là, au bord de la mer.

KJV ² Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

VULC ² Loquere filiis Israël : Reversi castrametentur e regione Phihahiroth, quæ est inter Magdalum et mare contra Beelsephon : in conspectu ejus castra ponetis super mare.

BAN ³ Et Pharaon dira des fils d'Israël : Ils sont égarés dans le pays ; le désert les tient enfermés.

KJV ³ For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

VULC ³ Dicturusque est Pharao super filiis Israël : Coarctati sunt in terra ; conclusit eos desertum.

BAN ⁴ Et j'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon et il les poursuivra, et je triompherai de Pharaon et de toute son armée, et l'Egypte saura que je suis l'Eternel.
Et les fils d'Israël firent ainsi.

KJV ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

VULC ⁴ Et indurabo cor ejus, ac persequetur vos : et glorificabor in Pharaone, et in omni exercitu ejus ; scientque Ægyptii quia ego sum Dominus. Feceruntque ita.

BAN ⁵ On annonça au roi d'Egypte que le peuple s'était enfui, et Pharaon et ses serviteurs changèrent de sentiment à l'égard du peuple et ils dirent : Qu'avons-nous fait de laisser aller Israël pour ne plus nous servir ?

KJV ⁵ And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

VULC ⁵ Et nuntiatum est regi Ægyptiorum quod fugisset populus : immutatumque est cor Pharaonis et servorum ejus super populo, et dixerunt : Quid voluimus facere ut dimitteremus Israël, ne serviret nobis ?

BAN ⁶ Et Pharaon attela son char et prit ses troupes avec lui :

KJV ⁶ And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

VULC ⁶ Junxit ergo currum, et omnem populum suum assumpsit secum.

BAN ⁷ il prit six cents chars d'élite et tous les chars d'Egypte ; sur chacun étaient des officiers.

KJV ⁷ And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

VULC ⁷ Tulitque sexcentos currus electos, et quidquid in Ægypto curruum fuit : et duces totius exercitus.

BAN ⁸ Et l'Eternel endurcit le coeur de Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et il alla à la poursuite des fils d'Israël ; car les fils d'Israël partaient tête levée.

KJV ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

VULC ⁸ Induravitque Dominus cor Pharaonis regis Ægypti, et persecutus est filios Israël : at illi egressi sunt in manu excelsa.

BAN ⁹ Les Egyptiens les poursuivirent donc et les atteignirent comme ils étaient campés au bord de la mer ; tous les attelages de Pharaon, ses cavaliers et son armée les atteignirent près de Pi-Hahiroth, devant Baal-Tséphon.

KJV ⁹ But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

VULC ⁹ Cumque persequerentur Ægyptii vestigia præcedentium, repererunt eos in castris super mare : omnis equitatus et currus Pharaonis, et universus exercitus, erant in Phihahiroth contra Beelsephon.

BAN ¹⁰ Et Pharaon s'était approché. Et les fils d'Israël levèrent les yeux et aperçurent les Egyptiens en marche derrière eux, et ils eurent une grande crainte. Et les fils d'Israël crièrent à l'Eternel

KJV ¹⁰ And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

VULC ¹⁰ Cumque appropinquasset Pharao, levantes filii Israël oculos, viderunt Ægyptios post se, et timuerunt valde : clamaveruntque ad Dominum,

BAN ¹¹ et ils dirent à Moïse : Est-ce faute de sépulcres en Egypte que tu nous as pris pour que nous mourions dans le désert ? Que nous as-tu fait en nous tirant d'Egypte ?

KJV ¹¹ And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

VULC ¹¹ et dixerunt ad Moysen : Forsitan non erant sepulchra in Ægypto, ideo tulisti nos ut moreremur in solitudine : quid hoc facere voluisti, ut educeres nos ex Ægypto ?

BAN ¹² N'est-ce pas ce que nous te disions en Egypte quand nous disions : Laisse-nous, nous voulons servir les Egyptiens !
Car mieux valait pour nous servir les Egyptiens que mourir dans le désert.

KJV ¹² Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

VULC ¹² nonne iste est sermo, quem loquebamur ad te in Ægypto, dicentes : Recede a nobis, ut serviamus Ægyptiis ? multo enim melius erat servire eis, quam mori in solitudine.

BAN ¹³ Et Moïse dit au peuple : Ne craignez pas. Tenez-vous là et voyez la délivrance de l'Eternel qu'il opérera pour vous aujourd'hui ; car si aujourd'hui vous avez vu les Egyptiens, vous ne les reverrez plus jamais.

KJV ¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

VULC ¹³ Et ait Moyses ad populum : Nolite timere : state, et videte magnalia Domini quæ facturus est hodie : Ægyptios enim, quos nunc videtis, nequaquam ultra videbitis usque in sempiternum.

BAN ¹⁴ L'Eternel combattra pour vous, et vous, vous vous tiendrez tranquilles.

KJV ¹⁴ The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

VULC ¹⁴ Dominus pugnabit pro vobis, et vos tacebitis.

BAN ¹⁵ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : Que cries-tu à moi ? Dis aux fils d'Israël de se mettre en marche ;

KJV ¹⁵ And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

VULC ¹⁵ Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Quid clamas ad me ? loquere filiis Israël ut proficiscantur.

BAN ¹⁶ et toi, lève ton bâton, étends ta main sur la mer, fends-la, et que les fils d'Israël entrent au milieu de la mer, sur le sec.

KJV ¹⁶ But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

VULC ¹⁶ Tu autem eleva virgam tuam, et extende manum tuam super mare, et divide illud : ut gradiantur filii Israël in medio mari per siccum.

BAN ¹⁷ Et moi, je vais endurcir le coeur des Egyptiens et ils entreront à leur suite, et je triompherai de Pharaon, de toute son armée, de ses chars et de ses cavaliers.

KJV ¹⁷ And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

VULC ¹⁷ Ego autem indurabo cor Ægyptiorum ut persequantur vos : et glorificabor in Pharaone, et in omni exercitu ejus, et in curribus et in equitibus illius.

BAN ¹⁸ Et les Egyptiens sauront que je suis l'Eternel, quand j'aurai triomphé de Pharaon, de ses chars et de ses cavaliers.

KJV ¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

VULC ¹⁸ Et scient Ægyptii quia ego sum Dominus cum glorificatus fuero in Pharaone, et in curribus atque in equitibus ejus.

BAN ¹⁹ Or l'ange de Dieu qui marchait devant le camp d'Israël passa derrière eux et la colonne de nuée partit de devant eux et se tint derrière eux :

KJV ¹⁹ And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

VULC ¹⁹ Tollensque se angelus Dei, qui præcedebat castra Israël, abiit post eos : et cum eo pariter columna nubis, priora dimittens, post tergum

BAN ²⁰ elle vint entre le camp des Egyptiens et le camp d'Israël ; elle était nuée et obscurité, et la nuit elle éclairait. Et ils n'approchèrent point les uns des autres de toute la nuit.

KJV ²⁰ And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

VULC ²⁰ stetit, inter castra Ægyptiorum et castra Israël : et erat nubes tenebrosa, et illuminans noctem, ita ut ad se invicem toto noctis tempore accedere non valerent.

BAN ²¹ Et Moïse étendit sa main sur la mer, et l'Eternel fit refluer la mer par un violent vent d'orient qui souffla toute la nuit, et il mit la mer à sec ; les eaux se fendirent,

KJV ²¹ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

VULC ²¹ Cumque extendisset Moyses manum super mare, abstulit illud Dominus flante vento vehementi et urente tota nocte, et vertit in siccum : divisaque est aqua.

BAN ²² et les fils d'Israël entrèrent au milieu de la mer, sur le sec, et les eaux étaient pour eux une muraille à droite et à gauche.

KJV ²² And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

VULC ²² Et ingressi sunt filii Israël per medium sicci maris : erat enim aqua quasi murus a dextra eorum et læva.

BAN ²³ Les Egyptiens les poursuivirent et tous les chevaux de Pharaon, ses chars et ceux qui les montaient entrèrent après eux au milieu de la mer.

KJV ²³ And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

VULC ²³ Persequentesque Ægyptii ingressi sunt post eos, et omnis equitatus Pharaonis, currus ejus et equites per medium maris.

BAN ²⁴ Et pendant la veille du matin, l'Eternel, dans la colonne de nuée et de feu, regarda vers le camp des Egyptiens. Il épouvanta le camp des Egyptiens ;

KJV ²⁴ And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

VULC ²⁴ Jamque advenerat vigilia matutina, et ecce respiciens Dominus super castra Ægyptiorum per columnam ignis et nubis, interfecit exercitum eorum,

BAN ²⁵ ils firent reculer leurs chars et ne les conduisirent qu'à grand-peine. Et les Egyptiens dirent : Fuyons devant Israël, car l'Eternel combat pour eux contre l'Egypte.

KJV ²⁵ And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

VULC ²⁵ et subvertit rotas curruum, ferebanturque in profundum. Dixerunt ergo Ægyptii : Fugiamus Israëlem : Dominus enim pugnat pro eis contra nos.

BAN ²⁶ Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse : Etends ta main sur la mer, et que les eaux rebroussent sur les Egyptiens, sur leurs chars et sur leurs cavaliers.

KJV ²⁶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

VULC ²⁶ Et ait Dominus ad Moysen : Extende manum tuam super mare, ut revertantur aquæ ad Ægyptios super currus et equites eorum.

BAN ²⁷ Et Moïse étendit la main sur la mer, et au point du jour la mer reprit sa place, et les Egyptiens, en fuyant, la rencontrèrent, et l'Eternel culbuta les Egyptiens au milieu de la mer.

KJV ²⁷ And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

VULC ²⁷ Cumque extendisset Moyses manum contra mare, reversum est primo diluculo ad priorem locum : fugientibusque Ægyptiis occurrerunt aquæ, et involvit eos Dominus in mediis fluctibus.

BAN ²⁸ Les eaux, en revenant, couvrirent les chars et ceux qui les montaient, de toute l'armée de Pharaon, qui étaient entrés dans la mer après Israël. Il n'en demeura pas un.

KJV ²⁸ And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

VULC ²⁸ Reversæque sunt aquæ, et operuerunt currus et equites cuncti exercitus Pharaonis, qui sequentes ingressi fuerant mare : nec unus quidem superfuit ex eis.

BAN ²⁹ Or les fils d'Israël avaient traversé la mer à sec, et les eaux leur avaient servi de muraille à droite et à gauche.

KJV ²⁹ But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

VULC ²⁹ Filii autem Israël perrexerunt per medium sicci maris, et aquæ eis erant quasi pro muro a dextris et a sinistris :

BAN ³⁰ Et l'Eternel sauva en ce jour-là Israël de la main des Egyptiens, et Israël vit les Egyptiens morts sur le rivage de la mer.

KJV ³⁰ Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

VULC ³⁰ liberavitque Dominus in die illa Israël de manu Ægyptiorum.

BAN ³¹ Et Israël vit la grande puissance que l'Eternel avait déployée contre les Egyptiens, et le peuple craignit l'Eternel et il crut à l'Eternel et à Moïse son serviteur.

KJV ³¹ And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

VULC ³¹ Et viderunt Ægyptios mortuos super littus maris, et manum magnam quam exercuerat Dominus contra eos : timuitque populus Dominum, et crediderunt Domino, et Moysi servo ejus.
