KJV ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

KJV ² Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.

LSG ² Parle aux enfants d'Israël ; qu'ils se détournent, et qu'ils campent devant Pi Hahiroth, entre Migdol et la mer, vis-à-vis de Baal Tsephon ; c'est en face de ce lieu que vous camperez, près de la mer.

WLC ² דַּבֵּר֮ אֶל־ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וְיָשֻׁ֗בוּ וְיַחֲנוּ֙ לִפְנֵי֙ פִּ֣י הַחִירֹ֔ת בֵּ֥ין מִגְדֹּ֖ל וּבֵ֣ין הַיָּ֑ם לִפְנֵי֙ בַּ֣עַל צְפֹ֔ן נִכְח֥וֹ תַחֲנ֖וּ עַל־ הַיָּֽם׃

KJV ³ For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

LSG ³ Pharaon dira des enfants d'Israël: Ils sont égarés dans le pays ; le désert les enferme.

WLC ³ וְאָמַ֤ר פַּרְעֹה֙ לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל נְבֻכִ֥ים הֵ֖ם בָּאָ֑רֶץ סָגַ֥ר עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃

KJV ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.

LSG ⁴ J'endurcirai le coeur de Pharaon, et il les poursuivra ; mais Pharaon et toute son armée serviront à faire éclater ma gloire, et les Égyptiens sauront que je suis l'Éternel. Et les enfants d'Israël firent ainsi.

WLC ⁴ וְחִזַּקְתִּ֣י אֶת־ לֵב־ פַּרְעֹה֮ וְרָדַ֣ף אַחֲרֵיהֶם֒ וְאִכָּבְדָ֤ה בְּפַרְעֹה֙ וּבְכָל־ חֵיל֔וֹ וְיָדְע֥וּ מִצְרַ֖יִם כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ⁵ And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

LSG ⁵ On annonça au roi d'Égypte que le peuple avait pris la fuite. Alors le coeur de Pharaon et celui de ses serviteurs furent changés à l'égard du peuple. Ils dirent: Qu'avons-nous fait, en laissant aller Israël, dont nous n'aurons plus les services ?

WLC ⁵ וַיֻּגַּד֙ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם כִּ֥י בָרַ֖ח הָעָ֑ם וַ֠יֵּהָפֵךְ לְבַ֨ב פַּרְעֹ֤ה וַעֲבָדָיו֙ אֶל־ הָעָ֔ם וַיֹּֽאמרוּ֙ מַה־ זֹּ֣את עָשִׂ֔ינוּ כִּֽי־ שִׁלַּ֥חְנוּ אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵעָבְדֵֽנוּ׃

KJV ⁶ And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

LSG ⁶ Et Pharaon attela son char, et il prit son peuple avec lui.

WLC ⁶ וַיֶּאְסֹ֖ר אֶת־ רִכְבּ֑וֹ וְאֶת־ עַמּ֖וֹ לָקַ֥ח עִמּֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁷ And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.

LSG ⁷ Il prit six cent chars d'élite, et tous les chars de l'Égypte ; il y avait sur tous des combattants.

WLC ⁷ וַיִּקַּ֗ח שֵׁשׁ־ מֵא֥וֹת רֶ֙כֶב֙ בָּח֔וּר וְכֹ֖ל רֶ֣כֶב מִצְרָ֑יִם וְשָׁלִשִׁ֖ם עַל־ כֻּלּֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

LSG ⁸ L'Éternel endurcit le coeur de Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, et Pharaon poursuivit les enfants d'Israël. Les enfants d'Israël étaient sortis la main levée.

WLC ⁸ וַיְחַזֵּ֣ק יְהֹוָ֗ה אֶת־ לֵ֤ב פַּרְעֹה֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיִּרְדֹּ֕ף אַחֲרֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יֹצְאִ֖ים בְּיָ֥ד רָמָֽה׃

KJV ⁹ But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

LSG ⁹ Les Égyptiens les poursuivirent ; et tous les chevaux, les chars de Pharaon, ses cavaliers et son armée, les atteignirent campés près de la mer, vers Pi Hahiroth, vis-à-vis de Baal Tsephon.

WLC ⁹ וַיִּרְדְּפ֨וּ מִצְרַ֜יִם אַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם וַיַּשִּׂ֤יגוּ אוֹתָם֙ חֹנִ֣ים עַל־ הַיָּ֔ם כָּל־ סוּס֙ רֶ֣כֶב פַּרְעֹ֔ה וּפָרָשָׁ֖יו וְחֵיל֑וֹ עַל־ פִּי֙ הַֽחִירֹ֔ת לִפְנֵ֖י בַּ֥עַל צְפֹֽן׃

KJV ¹⁰ And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

LSG ¹⁰ Pharaon approchait. Les enfants d'Israël levèrent les yeux, et voici, les Égyptiens étaient en marche derrière eux. Et les enfants d'Israël eurent une grande frayeur, et crièrent à l'Éternel.

WLC ¹⁰ וּפַרְעֹ֖ה הִקְרִ֑יב וַיִּשְׂאוּ֩ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל אֶת־ עֵינֵיהֶ֜ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה מִצְרַ֣יִם ׀ נֹסֵ֣עַ אַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם וַיִּֽירְאוּ֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֶל־ יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹¹ And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

LSG ¹¹ Ils dirent à Moïse: N'y avait-il pas des sépulcres en Égypte, sans qu'il fût besoin de nous mener mourir au désert ? Que nous as-tu fait en nous faisant sortir d'Égypte ?

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּאמְרוּ֮ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁה֒ הַֽמִבְּלִ֤י אֵין־ קְבָרִים֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם לְקַחְתָּ֖נוּ לָמ֣וּת בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר מַה־ זֹּאת֙ עָשִׂ֣יתָ לָּ֔נוּ לְהוֹצִיאָ֖נוּ מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹² Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

LSG ¹² N'est-ce pas là ce que nous te disions en Égypte: Laisse-nous servir les Égyptiens, car nous aimons mieux servir les Égyptiens que de mourir au désert ?

WLC ¹² הֲלֹא־ זֶ֣ה הַדָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁר֩ דִּבַּ֨רְנוּ אֵלֶ֤יךָ בְמִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר חֲדַ֥ל מִמֶּ֖נּוּ וְנַֽעַבְדָ֣ה אֶת־ מִצְרָ֑יִם כִּ֣י ט֥וֹב לָ֙נוּ֙ עֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־ מִצְרַ֔יִם מִמֻּתֵ֖נוּ בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

KJV ¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

LSG ¹³ Moïse répondit au peuple: Ne craignez rien, restez en place, et regardez la délivrance que l'Éternel va vous accorder en ce jour ; car les Égyptiens que vous voyez aujourd'hui, vous ne les verrez plus jamais.

WLC ¹³ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֣ה אֶל־ הָעָם֮ אַל־ תִּירָאוּ֒ הִֽתְיַצְב֗וּ וּרְאוּ֙ אֶת־ יְשׁוּעַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר רְאִיתֶ֤ם אֶת־ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ הַיּ֔וֹם לֹ֥א תֹסִ֛יפוּ לִרְאֹתָ֥ם ע֖וֹד עַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃

KJV ¹⁴ The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

LSG ¹⁴ L'Éternel combattra pour vous ; et vous, gardez le silence.

WLC ¹⁴ יְהוָ֖ה יִלָּחֵ֣ם לָכֶ֑ם וְאַתֶּ֖ם תַּחֲרִישֽׁוּן׃

KJV ¹⁵ And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

LSG ¹⁵ L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Pourquoi ces cris ? Parle aux enfants d'Israël, et qu'ils marchent.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה מַה־ תִּצְעַ֖ק אֵלָ֑י דַּבֵּ֥ר אֶל־ בְּנֵי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְיִסָּֽעוּ׃

KJV ¹⁶ But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

LSG ¹⁶ Toi, lève ta verge, étends ta main sur la mer, et fends-la ; et les enfants d'Israël entreront au milieu de la mer à sec.

WLC ¹⁶ וְאַתָּ֞ה הָרֵ֣ם אֶֽת־ מַטְּךָ֗ וּנְטֵ֧ה אֶת־ יָדְךָ֛ עַל־ הַיָּ֖ם וּבְקָעֵ֑הוּ וְיָבֹ֧אוּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּת֥וֹךְ הַיָּ֖ם בַּיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃

KJV ¹⁷ And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

LSG ¹⁷ Et moi, je vais endurcir le coeur des Égyptiens, pour qu'ils y entrent après eux: et Pharaon et toute son armée, ses chars et ses cavaliers, feront éclater ma gloire.

WLC ¹⁷ וַאֲנִ֗י הִנְנִ֤י מְחַזֵּק֙ אֶת־ לֵ֣ב מִצְרַ֔יִם וְיָבֹ֖אוּ אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם וְאִכָּבְדָ֤ה בְּפַרְעֹה֙ וּבְכָל־ חֵיל֔וֹ בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃

KJV ¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

LSG ¹⁸ Et les Égyptiens sauront que je suis l'Éternel, quand Pharaon, ses chars et ses cavaliers, auront fait éclater ma gloire.

WLC ¹⁸ וְיָדְע֥וּ מִצְרַ֖יִם כִּי־ אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֑ה בְּהִכָּבְדִ֣י בְּפַרְעֹ֔ה בְּרִכְבּ֖וֹ וּבְפָרָשָֽׁיו׃

KJV ¹⁹ And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:

LSG ¹⁹ L'ange de Dieu, qui allait devant le camp d'Israël, partit et alla derrière eux ; et la colonne de nuée qui les précédait, partit et se tint derrière eux.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּסַּ֞ע מַלְאַ֣ךְ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים הַהֹלֵךְ֙ לִפְנֵי֙ מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּסַּ֞ע עַמּ֤וּד הֶֽעָנָן֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֖ד מֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁰ And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.

LSG ²⁰ Elle se plaça entre le camp des Égyptiens et le camp d'Israël. Cette nuée était ténébreuse d'un côté, et de l'autre elle éclairait la nuit. Et les deux camps n'approchèrent point l'un de l'autre pendant toute la nuit.

WLC ²⁰ וַיָּבֹ֞א בֵּ֣ין ׀ מַחֲנֵ֣ה מִצְרַ֗יִם וּבֵין֙ מַחֲנֵ֣ה יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיְהִ֤י הֶֽעָנָן֙ וְהַחֹ֔שֶׁךְ וַיָּ֖אֶר אֶת־ הַלָּ֑יְלָה וְלֹא־ קָרַ֥ב זֶ֛ה אֶל־ זֶ֖ה כָּל־ הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

KJV ²¹ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

LSG ²¹ Moïse étendit sa main sur la mer. Et l'Éternel refoula la mer par un vent d'orient, qui souffla avec impétuosité toute la nuit ; il mit la mer à sec, et les eaux se fendirent.

WLC ²¹ וַיֵּ֨ט מֹשֶׁ֣ה אֶת־ יָדוֹ֮ עַל־ הַיָּם֒ וַיּ֣וֹלֶךְ יְהוָ֣ה ׀ אֶת־ הַ֠יָּם בְּר֨וּחַ קָדִ֤ים עַזָּה֙ כָּל־ הַלַּ֔יְלָה וַיָּ֥שֶׂם אֶת־ הַיָּ֖ם לֶחָרָבָ֑ה וַיִּבָּקְע֖וּ הַמָּֽיִם׃

KJV ²² And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

LSG ²² Les enfants d'Israël entrèrent au milieu de la mer à sec, et les eaux formaient comme une muraille à leur droite et à leur gauche.

WLC ²² וַיָּבֹ֧אוּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּת֥וֹךְ הַיָּ֖ם בַּיַּבָּשָׁ֑ה וְהַמַּ֤יִם לָהֶם֙ חֹמָ֔ה מִֽימִינָ֖ם וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם׃

KJV ²³ And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

LSG ²³ Les Égyptiens les poursuivirent ; et tous les chevaux de Pharaon, ses chars et ses cavaliers, entrèrent après eux au milieu de la mer.

WLC ²³ וַיִּרְדְּפ֤וּ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּ֚ל ס֣וּס פַּרְעֹ֔ה רִכְבּ֖וֹ וּפָרָשָׁ֑יו אֶל־ תּ֖וֹךְ הַיָּֽם׃

KJV ²⁴ And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

LSG ²⁴ A la veille du matin, l'Éternel, de la colonne de feu et de nuée, regarda le camp des Égyptiens, et mit en désordre le camp des Égyptiens.

WLC ²⁴ וַֽיְהִי֙ בְּאַשְׁמֹ֣רֶת הַבֹּ֔קֶר וַיַּשְׁקֵ֤ף יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מַחֲנֵ֣ה מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּעַמּ֥וּד אֵ֖שׁ וְעָנָ֑ן וַיָּ֕הָם אֵ֖ת מַחֲנֵ֥ה מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ²⁵ And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.

LSG ²⁵ Il ôta les roues de leurs chars et en rendit la marche difficile. Les Égyptiens dirent alors: Fuyons devant Israël, car l'Éternel combat pour lui contre les Égyptiens.

WLC ²⁵ וַיָּ֗סַר אֵ֚ת אֹפַ֣ן מַרְכְּבֹתָ֔יו וַֽיְנַהֲגֵ֖הוּ בִּכְבֵדֻ֑ת וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מִצְרַ֗יִם אָנ֙וּסָה֙ מִפְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֣י יְהוָ֔ה נִלְחָ֥ם לָהֶ֖ם בְּמִצְרָֽיִם

KJV ²⁶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.

LSG ²⁶ L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Étends ta main sur la mer ; et les eaux reviendront sur les Égyptiens, sur leurs chars et sur leurs cavaliers.

WLC ²⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־ מֹשֶׁ֔ה נְטֵ֥ה אֶת־ יָדְךָ֖ עַל־ הַיָּ֑ם וְיָשֻׁ֤בוּ הַמַּ֙יִם֙ עַל־ מִצְרַ֔יִם עַל־ רִכְבּ֖וֹ וְעַל־ פָּרָשָֽׁיו׃

KJV ²⁷ And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

LSG ²⁷ Moïse étendit sa main sur la mer. Et vers le matin, la mer reprit son impétuosité, et les Égyptiens s'enfuirent à son approche ; mais l'Éternel précipita les Égyptiens au milieu de la mer.

WLC ²⁷ וַיֵּט֩ מֹשֶׁ֨ה אֶת־ יָד֜וֹ עַל־ הַיָּ֗ם וַיָּ֨שָׁב הַיָּ֜ם לִפְנ֥וֹת בֹּ֙קֶר֙ לְאֵ֣יתָנ֔וֹ וּמִצְרַ֖יִם נָסִ֣ים לִקְרָאת֑וֹ וַיְנַעֵ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־ מִצְרַ֖יִם בְּת֥וֹךְ הַיָּֽם׃

KJV ²⁸ And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

LSG ²⁸ Les eaux revinrent, et couvrirent les chars, les cavaliers et toute l'armée de Pharaon, qui étaient entrés dans la mer après les enfants d'Israël ; et il n'en échappa pas un seul.

WLC ²⁸ וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ הַמַּ֗יִם וַיְכַסּ֤וּ אֶת־ הָרֶ֙כֶב֙ וְאֶת־ הַפָּ֣רָשִׁ֔ים לְכֹל֙ חֵ֣יל פַּרְעֹ֔ה הַבָּאִ֥ים אַחֲרֵיהֶ֖ם בַּיָּ֑ם לֹֽא־ נִשְׁאַ֥ר בָּהֶ֖ם עַד־ אֶחָֽד׃

KJV ²⁹ But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

LSG ²⁹ Mais les enfants d'Israël marchèrent à sec au milieu de la mer, et les eaux formaient comme une muraille à leur droite et à leur gauche.

WLC ²⁹ וּבְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל הָלְכ֥וּ בַיַּבָּשָׁ֖ה בְּת֣וֹךְ הַיָּ֑ם וְהַמַּ֤יִם לָהֶם֙ חֹמָ֔ה מִֽימִינָ֖ם וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם

KJV ³⁰ Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.

LSG ³⁰ En ce jour, l'Éternel délivra Israël de la main des Égyptiens ; et Israël vit sur le rivage de la mer les Égyptiens qui étaient morts.

WLC ³⁰ וַיּ֨וֹשַׁע יְהוָ֜ה בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֛וּא אֶת־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מִיַּ֣ד מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיַּ֤רְא יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶת־ מִצְרַ֔יִם מֵ֖ת עַל־ שְׂפַ֥ת הַיָּֽם׃

KJV ³¹ And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

LSG ³¹ Israël vit la main puissante que l'Éternel avait dirigée contre les Égyptiens. Et le peuple craignit l'Éternel, et il crut en l'Éternel et en Moïse, son serviteur.

WLC ³¹ וַיַּ֨רְא יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־ הַיָּ֣ד הַגְּדֹלָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָׂ֤ה יְהוָה֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם וַיִּֽירְא֥וּ הָעָ֖ם אֶת־ יְהוָ֑ה וַיַּֽאֲמִ֙ינוּ֙ בַּֽיהוָ֔ה וּבְמֹשֶׁ֖ה עַבְדּֽוֹ׃
