Exode 22KJV 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

KJV 2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
VULC 2 Si effringens fur domum sive suffodiens fuerit inventus, et accepto vulnere mortuus fuerit, percussor non erit reus sanguinis.
WLC 2 אִם־ זָרְחָ֥ה הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ עָלָ֖יו דָּמִ֣ים ל֑וֹ שַׁלֵּ֣ם יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם אִם־ אֵ֣ין ל֔וֹ וְנִמְכַּ֖ר בִּגְנֵבָתֽוֹ׃
KJV 3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
VULC 3 Quod si orto sole hoc fecerit, homicidium perpetravit, et ipse morietur. Si non habuerit quod pro furto reddat, ipse venundabitur.

KJV 4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
VULC 4 Si inventum fuerit apud eum quod furatus est, vivens : sive bos, sive asinus, sive ovis, duplum restituet.

KJV 5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
VULC 5 Si læserit quispiam agrum vel vineam, et dimiserit jumentum suum ut depascatur aliena : quidquid optimum habuerit in agro suo, vel in vinea, pro damni æstimatione restituet.

KJV 6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
VULC 6 Si egressus ignis invenerit spinas, et comprehenderit acervos frugum, sive stantes segetes in agris, reddet damnum qui ignem succenderit.
WLC 6 כִּֽי־ יִתֵּן֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־ רֵעֵ֜הוּ כֶּ֤סֶף אֽוֹ־ כֵלִים֙ לִשְׁמֹ֔ר וְגֻנַּ֖ב מִבֵּ֣ית הָאִ֑ישׁ אִם־ יִמָּצֵ֥א הַגַּנָּ֖ב יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנָֽיִם׃
KJV 7 If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
VULC 7 Si quis commendaverit amico pecuniam aut vas in custodiam, et ab eo, qui susceperat, furto ablata fuerint : si invenitur fur, duplum reddet :
WLC 7 אִם־ לֹ֤א יִמָּצֵא֙ הַגַּנָּ֔ב וְנִקְרַ֥ב בַּֽעַל־ הַבַּ֖יִת אֶל־ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים אִם־ לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֛ח יָד֖וֹ בִּמְלֶ֥אכֶת רֵעֵֽהוּ׃
KJV 8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
VULC 8 si latet fur, dominus domus applicabitur ad deos, et jurabit quod non extenderit manum in rem proximi sui,
WLC 8 עַֽל־ כָּל־ דְּבַר־ פֶּ֡שַׁע עַל־ שׁ֡וֹר עַל־ חֲ֠מוֹר עַל־ שֶׂ֨ה עַל־ שַׂלְמָ֜ה עַל־ כָּל־ אֲבֵדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ כִּי־ ה֣וּא זֶ֔ה עַ֚ד הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים יָבֹ֖א דְּבַר־ שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַרְשִׁיעֻן֙ אֱלֹהִ֔ים יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנַ֖יִם לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃
KJV 9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
VULC 9 ad perpetrandam fraudem, tam in bove quam in asino, et ove ac vestimento, et quidquid damnum inferre potest : ad deos utriusque causa perveniet, et si illi judicaverint, duplum restituet proximo suo.

KJV 10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
VULC 10 Si quis commendaverit proximo suo asinum, bovem, ovem, et omne jumentum ad custodiam, et mortuum fuerit, aut debilitatum, vel captum ab hostibus, nullusque hoc viderit :
WLC 10 שְׁבֻעַ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה תִּהְיֶה֙ בֵּ֣ין שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם אִם־ לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֛ח יָד֖וֹ בִּמְלֶ֣אכֶת רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְלָקַ֥ח בְּעָלָ֖יו וְלֹ֥א יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃
KJV 11 Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
VULC 11 jusjurandum erit in medio, quod non extenderit manum ad rem proximi sui : suscipietque dominus juramentum, et ille reddere non cogetur.
WLC 11 וְאִם־ גָּנֹ֥ב יִגָּנֵ֖ב מֵעִמּ֑וֹ יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם לִבְעָלָֽיו׃
KJV 12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

WLC 12 אִם־ טָרֹ֥ף יִטָּרֵ֖ף יְבִאֵ֣הוּ עֵ֑ד הַטְּרֵפָ֖ה לֹ֥א יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃
KJV 13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
VULC 13 si comestum a bestia, deferat ad eum quod occisum est, et non restituet.
WLC 13 וְכִֽי־ יִשְׁאַ֥ל אִ֛ישׁ מֵעִ֥ם רֵעֵ֖הוּ וְנִשְׁבַּ֣ר אוֹ־ מֵ֑ת בְּעָלָ֥יו אֵין־ עִמּ֖וֹ שַׁלֵּ֥ם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃
KJV 14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
VULC 14 Qui a proximo suo quidquam horum mutuo postulaverit, et debilitatum aut mortuum fuerit domino non præsente, reddere compelletur.
WLC 14 אִם־ בְּעָלָ֥יו עִמּ֖וֹ לֹ֣א יְשַׁלֵּ֑ם אִם־ שָׂכִ֣יר ה֔וּא בָּ֖א בִּשְׂכָרֽוֹ׃
KJV 15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
VULC 15 Quod si impræsentiarum dominus fuerit, non restituet, maxime si conductum venerat pro mercede operis sui.

KJV 16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
VULC 16 Si seduxerit quis virginem necdum desponsatam, dormieritque cum ea : dotabit eam, et habebit eam uxorem.
WLC 16 אִם־ מָאֵ֧ן יְמָאֵ֛ן אָבִ֖יהָ לְתִתָּ֣הּ ל֑וֹ כֶּ֣סֶף יִשְׁקֹ֔ל כְּמֹ֖הַר הַבְּתוּלֹֽת׃
KJV 17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
VULC 17 Si pater virginis dare noluerit, reddet pecuniam juxta modum dotis, quam virgines accipere consueverunt.

KJV 18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

KJV 19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

WLC 19 זֹבֵ֥חַ לָאֱלֹהִ֖ים יָֽחֳרָ֑ם בִּלְתִּ֥י לַיהוָ֖ה לְבַדּֽוֹ׃
KJV 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
VULC 20 Qui immolat diis, occidetur, præterquam Domino soli.
WLC 20 וְגֵ֥ר לֹא־ תוֹנֶ֖ה וְלֹ֣א תִלְחָצֶ֑נּוּ כִּֽי־ גֵרִ֥ים הֱיִיתֶ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
KJV 21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

KJV 23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

KJV 24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

KJV 25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
VULC 25 Si pecuniam mutuam dederis populo meo pauperi qui habitat tecum, non urgebis eum quasi exactor, nec usuris opprimes.

KJV 26 If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

KJV 27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

KJV 31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
