KJV ² Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations.

OST ² Et toi, fils de l'homme, juge; juge la ville sanguinaire, et fais-lui connaître toutes ses abominations.

VULC ² Et tu, fili hominis, nonne judicas, nonne judicas civitatem sanguinum ?

WLC ² וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן־ אָדָ֔ם הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֥ט הֲתִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־ עִ֣יר הַדָּמִ֑ים וְה֣וֹדַעְתָּ֔הּ אֵ֖ת כָּל־ תּוֹעֲבוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ³ Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.

OST ³ Dis: Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Ville qui répands le sang dans ton sein, afin que ton jour arrive, et qui te fais des idoles pour en être souillée!

VULC ³ Et ostendes ei omnes abominationes suas, et dices : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Civitas effundens sanguinem in medio sui, ut veniat tempus ejus : et quæ fecit idola contra semetipsam, ut pollueretur.

WLC ³ וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה עִ֣יר שֹׁפֶ֥כֶת דָּ֛ם בְּתוֹכָ֖הּ לָב֣וֹא עִתָּ֑הּ וְעָשְׂתָ֧ה גִלּוּלִ֛ים עָלֶ֖יהָ לְטָמְאָֽה׃

KJV ⁴ Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.

OST ⁴ Par le sang que tu as répandu, tu t'es rendue coupable, et par les idoles que tu as faites, tu t'es souillée. Tu as avancé tes jours, et tu es parvenue au terme de tes années; c'est pourquoi je vais faire de toi un objet d'opprobre pour les nations, et de moquerie pour tous les pays.

VULC ⁴ In sanguine tuo, qui a te effusus est, deliquisti, et in idolis tuis, quæ fecisti, polluta es : et appropinquare fecisti dies tuos, et adduxisti tempus annorum tuorum : propterea dedi te opprobrium gentibus, et irrisionem universis terris.

WLC ⁴ בְּדָמֵ֨ךְ אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁפַ֜כְתְּ אָשַׁ֗מְתְּ וּבְגִלּוּלַ֤יִךְ אֲשֶׁר־ עָשִׂית֙ טָמֵ֔את וַתַּקְרִ֣יבִי יָמַ֔יִךְ וַתָּב֖וֹא עַד־ שְׁנוֹתָ֑יִךְ עַל־ כֵּ֗ן נְתַתִּ֤יךְ חֶרְפָּה֙ לַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְקַלָּסָ֖ה לְכָל־ הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁵ Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed.

OST ⁵ Ceux qui sont près et ceux qui sont loin se moqueront de toi, qui es souillée de réputation et remplie de troubles.

VULC ⁵ Quæ juxta sunt, et quæ procul a te, triumphabunt de te, sordida, nobilis, grandis interitu.

WLC ⁵ הַקְּרֹב֛וֹת וְהָרְחֹק֥וֹת מִמֵּ֖ךְ יִתְקַלְּסוּ־ בָ֑ךְ טְמֵאַ֣ת הַשֵּׁ֔ם רַבַּ֖ת הַמְּהוּמָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.

OST ⁶ Voici, dans ton sein les princes d'Israël contribuent de tout leur pouvoir à répandre le sang.

VULC ⁶ Ecce principes Israël singuli in brachio suo fuerunt in te, ad effundendum sanguinem.

WLC ⁶ הִנֵּה֙ נְשִׂיאֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִ֥ישׁ לִזְרֹע֖וֹ הָ֣יוּ בָ֑ךְ לְמַ֖עַן שְׁפָךְ־ דָּֽם׃

KJV ⁷ In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

OST ⁷ Chez toi, l'on méprise père et mère; chez toi, on use de violence envers l'étranger; chez toi, on opprime l'orphelin et la veuve.

VULC ⁷ Patrem et matrem contumeliis affecerunt : in te advenam calumniati sunt in medio tui : pupillum et viduam contristaverunt apud te.

WLC ⁷ אָ֤ב וָאֵם֙ הֵקַ֣לּוּ בָ֔ךְ לַגֵּ֛ר עָשׂ֥וּ בַעֹ֖שֶׁק בְּתוֹכֵ֑ךְ יָת֥וֹם וְאַלְמָנָ֖ה ה֥וֹנוּ בָֽךְ׃

KJV ⁸ Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

OST ⁸ Tu méprises mes choses saintes, et tu profanes mes sabbats.

VULC ⁸ Sanctuaria mea sprevisti, et sabbata mea polluisti.

WLC ⁸ קָדָשַׁ֖י בָּזִ֑ית וְאֶת־ שַׁבְּתֹתַ֖י חִלָּֽלְתְּ׃

KJV ⁹ In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit lewdness.

OST ⁹ Chez toi, se trouvent des calomniateurs pour répandre le sang; chez toi, on mange sur les montagnes; chez toi, l'on commet des atrocités.

VULC ⁹ Viri detractores fuerunt in te ad effundendum sanguinem, et super montes comederunt in te : scelus operati sunt in medio tui.

WLC ⁹ אַנְשֵׁ֥י רָכִ֛יל הָ֥יוּ בָ֖ךְ לְמַ֣עַן שְׁפָךְ־ דָּ֑ם וְאֶל־ הֶֽהָרִים֙ אָ֣כְלוּ בָ֔ךְ זִמָּ֖ה עָשׂ֥וּ בְתוֹכֵֽךְ׃

KJV ¹⁰ In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness: in thee have they humbled her that was set apart for pollution.

OST ¹⁰ Chez toi, on découvre la nudité d'un père; chez toi, l'on humilie la femme à l'époque de sa souillure.

VULC ¹⁰ Verecundiora patris discooperuerunt in te ; immunditiam menstruatæ humiliaverunt in te :

WLC ¹⁰ עֶרְוַת־ אָ֖ב גִּלָּה־ בָ֑ךְ טְמֵאַ֥ת הַנִּדָּ֖ה עִנּוּ־ בָֽךְ׃

KJV ¹¹ And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

OST ¹¹ Chez toi, l'un se livre à des abominations avec la femme de son prochain, l'autre souille sa belle-fille par l'inceste, et l'autre fait violence à sa soeur, la fille de son père.

VULC ¹¹ et unusquisque in uxorem proximi sui operatus est abominationem, et socer nurum suam polluit nefarie : frater sororem suam, filiam patris sui, oppressit in te.

WLC ¹¹ וְאִ֣ישׁ ׀ אֶת־ אֵ֣שֶׁת רֵעֵ֗הוּ עָשָׂה֙ תּֽוֹעֵבָ֔ה וְאִ֥ישׁ אֶת־ כַּלָּת֖וֹ טִמֵּ֣א בְזִמָּ֑ה וְאִ֛ישׁ אֶת־ אֲחֹת֥וֹ בַת־ אָבִ֖יו עִנָּה־ בָֽךְ׃

KJV ¹² In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.

OST ¹² Chez toi, l'on reçoit des présents pour répandre le sang; tu prends l'intérêt et l'usure, tu dépouilles ton prochain par la violence, et tu m'oublies, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.

VULC ¹² Munera acceperunt apud te ad effundendum sanguinem : usuram et superabundantiam accepisti, et avare proximos tuos calumniabaris : meique oblita es, ait Dominus Deus.

WLC ¹² שֹׁ֥חַד לָֽקְחוּ־ בָ֖ךְ לְמַ֣עַן שְׁפָךְ־ דָּ֑ם נֶ֧שֶׁךְ וְתַרְבִּ֣ית לָקַ֗חַתְּ וַתְּבַצְּעִ֤י רֵעַ֙יִךְ֙ בַּעֹ֔שֶׁק וְאֹתִ֣י שָׁכַ֔חַתְּ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

KJV ¹³ Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee.

OST ¹³ Voici, je frappe des mains à cause des spoliations que tu as commises, et du sang qui a été répandu au milieu de toi.

VULC ¹³ Ecce complosi manus meas super avaritiam tuam quam fecisti, et super sanguinem qui effusus est in medio tui.

WLC ¹³ וְהִנֵּה֙ הִכֵּ֣יתִי כַפִּ֔י אֶל־ בִּצְעֵ֖ךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֑ית וְעַ֨ל־ דָּמֵ֔ךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ בְּתוֹכֵֽךְ׃

KJV ¹⁴ Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

OST ¹⁴ Ton coeur tiendra-t-il bon, tes mains resteront-elles fermes, dans les jours où j'agirai contre toi? Moi, l'Éternel, j'ai parlé, et je le ferai.

VULC ¹⁴ Numquid sustinebit cor tuum, aut prævalebunt manus tuæ, in diebus quos ego faciam tibi ? Ego Dominus locutus sum, et faciam.

WLC ¹⁴ הֲיַעֲמֹ֤ד לִבֵּךְ֙ אִם־ תֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָה יָדַ֔יִךְ לַיָּמִ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י עֹשֶׂ֣ה אוֹתָ֑ךְ אֲנִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי וְעָשִֽׂיתִי׃

KJV ¹⁵ And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

OST ¹⁵ Je te disperserai parmi les nations; je te disséminerai en divers pays, et je ferai disparaître la souillure du milieu de toi.

VULC ¹⁵ Et dispergam te in nationes, et ventilabo te in terras, et deficere faciam immunditiam tuam a te.

WLC ¹⁵ וַהֲפִיצוֹתִ֤י אוֹתָךְ֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם וְזֵרִיתִ֖יךְ בָּאֲרָצ֑וֹת וַהֲתִמֹּתִ֥י טֻמְאָתֵ֖ךְ מִמֵּֽךְ׃

KJV ¹⁶ And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

OST ¹⁶ Alors tu seras avilie par toi-même, aux yeux des nations, et tu sauras que je suis l'Éternel.

VULC ¹⁶ Et possidebo te in conspectu gentium : et scies quia ego Dominus.

WLC ¹⁶ וְנִחַ֥לְתְּ בָּ֖ךְ לְעֵינֵ֣י גוֹיִ֑ם וְיָדַ֖עַתְּ כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.

OST ¹⁸ Fils de l'homme, la maison d'Israël est devenue pour moi comme des scories; ils sont tous de l'airain, de l'étain, du fer et du plomb dans un creuset; ce sont des scories d'argent.

VULC ¹⁸ Fili hominis, versa est mihi domus Israël in scoriam : omnes isti æs, et stannum, et ferrum, et plumbum in medio fornacis : scoria argenti facti sunt.

WLC ¹⁸ בֶּן־ אָדָ֕ם הָיוּ־ לִ֥י בֵֽית־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כֻּלָּ֡ם נְ֠חֹשֶׁת וּבְדִ֨יל וּבַרְזֶ֤ל וְעוֹפֶ֙רֶת֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ כּ֔וּר סִגִ֥ים כֶּ֖סֶף הָיֽוּ׃

KJV ¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

OST ¹⁹ C'est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Parce que vous êtes tous devenus semblables à des scories, voici je vous rassemblerai au milieu de Jérusalem.

WLC ¹⁹ לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֛עַן הֱי֥וֹת כֻּלְּכֶ֖ם לְסִגִ֑ים לָכֵן֙ הִנְנִ֣י קֹבֵ֣ץ אֶתְכֶ֔ם אֶל־ תּ֖וֹךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

KJV ²⁰ As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.

OST ²⁰ Comme on réunit dans le creuset l'argent, l'airain, le fer, le plomb et l'étain, et qu'on y souffle le feu afin de les fondre, ainsi je vous rassemblerai dans ma colère et dans ma fureur, et je vous mettrai au creuset pour vous fondre.

VULC ²⁰ congregatione argenti, et æris, et stanni, et ferri, et plumbi, in medio fornacis, ut succendam in ea ignem ad conflandum. Sic congregabo in furore meo, et in ira mea : et requiescam, et conflabo vos.

WLC ²⁰ קְבֻ֣צַת כֶּ֡סֶף וּ֠נְחֹשֶׁת וּבַרְזֶ֨ל וְעוֹפֶ֤רֶת וּבְדִיל֙ אֶל־ תּ֣וֹךְ כּ֔וּר לָפַֽחַת־ עָלָ֥יו אֵ֖שׁ לְהַנְתִּ֑יךְ כֵּ֤ן אֶקְבֹּץ֙ בְּאַפִּ֣י וּבַחֲמָתִ֔י וְהִנַּחְתִּ֥י וְהִתַּכְתִּ֖י אֶתְכֶֽם׃

KJV ²¹ Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst therof.

OST ²¹ Je vous amasserai, je soufflerai contre vous le feu de ma fureur, et vous serez fondus au milieu de Jérusalem.

VULC ²¹ Et congregabo vos, et succendam vos in igne furoris mei, et conflabimini in medio ejus.

WLC ²¹ וְכִנַּסְתִּ֣י אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְנָפַחְתִּ֥י עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם בְּאֵ֣שׁ עֶבְרָתִ֑י וְנִתַּכְתֶּ֖ם בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

KJV ²² As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

OST ²² Comme fond l'argent dans un creuset, ainsi vous serez fondus au milieu d'elle, et vous saurez que moi, l'Éternel, j'ai répandu sur vous ma fureur.

VULC ²² Ut conflatur argentum in medio fornacis, sic eritis in medio ejus : et scietis quia ego Dominus cum effuderim indignationem meam super vos.

WLC ²² כְּהִתּ֥וּךְ כֶּ֙סֶף֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ כּ֔וּר כֵּ֖ן תֻּתְּכ֣וּ בְתוֹכָ֑הּ וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי־ אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה שָׁפַ֥כְתִּי חֲמָתִ֖י עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁴ Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

OST ²⁴ Fils de l'homme, dis à Jérusalem: Tu es une terre qui n'a point été purifiée, et qui n'est point arrosée de pluie au jour de la colère.

VULC ²⁴ Fili hominis, dic ei : Tu es terra immunda, et non compluta in die furoris.

WLC ²⁴ בֶּן־ אָדָ֕ם אֱמָר־ לָ֕הּ אַ֣תְּ אֶ֔רֶץ לֹ֥א מְטֹהָרָ֖ה הִ֑יא לֹ֥א גֻשְׁמָ֖הּ בְּי֥וֹם זָֽעַם׃

KJV ²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.

OST ²⁵ Ses prophètes forment des complots en son sein; pareils au lion rugissant qui déchire sa proie, ils dévorent les âmes, ils s'emparent des richesses et des choses précieuses et multiplient les veuves au milieu d'elle.

VULC ²⁵ Conjuratio prophetarum in medio ejus : sicut leo rugiens, rapiensque prædam, animas devoraverunt : opes et pretium acceperunt : viduas ejus multiplicaverunt in medio illius.

WLC ²⁵ קֶ֤שֶׁר נְבִיאֶ֙יהָ֙ בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ כַּאֲרִ֥י שׁוֹאֵ֖ג טֹ֣רֵֽף טָ֑רֶף נֶ֣פֶשׁ אָכָ֗לוּ חֹ֤סֶן וִיקָר֙ יִקָּ֔חוּ אַלְמְנוֹתֶ֖יהָ הִרְבּ֥וּ בְתוֹכָֽהּ׃

KJV ²⁶ Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

OST ²⁶ Ses sacrificateurs violent ma loi et profanent mes choses saintes; ils ne distinguent pas entre ce qui est saint et ce qui est profane; ils ne font pas connaître la différence entre ce qui est souillé et ce qui est pur; ils ferment les yeux sur mes sabbats, et je suis profané au milieu d'eux.

VULC ²⁶ Sacerdotes ejus contempserunt legem meam, et polluerunt sanctuaria mea : inter sanctum et profanum non habuerunt distantiam, et inter pollutum et mundum non intellexerunt : et a sabbatis meis averterunt oculos suos, et coinquinabar in medio eorum.

WLC ²⁶ כֹּהֲנֶ֜יהָ חָמְס֣וּ תוֹרָתִי֮ וַיְחַלְּל֣וּ קָדָשַׁי֒ בֵּֽין־ קֹ֤דֶשׁ לְחֹל֙ לֹ֣א הִבְדִּ֔ילוּ וּבֵין־ הַטָּמֵ֥א לְטָה֖וֹר לֹ֣א הוֹדִ֑יעוּ וּמִשַׁבְּתוֹתַי֙ הֶעְלִ֣ימוּ עֵֽינֵיהֶ֔ם וָאֵחַ֖ל בְּתוֹכָֽם׃

KJV ²⁷ Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

OST ²⁷ Ses chefs dans son sein sont pareils à des loups qui dévorent leur proie en répandant le sang, en perdant les âmes pour commettre des rapines.

VULC ²⁷ Principes ejus in medio illius quasi lupi rapientes prædam ad effundendum sanguinem, et ad perdendas animas, et avare ad sectanda lucra.

WLC ²⁷ שָׂרֶ֣יהָ בְקִרְבָּ֔הּ כִּזְאֵבִ֖ים טֹ֣רְפֵי טָ֑רֶף לִשְׁפָּךְ־ דָּם֙ לְאַבֵּ֣ד נְפָשׁ֔וֹת לְמַ֖עַן בְּצֹ֥עַ בָּֽצַע׃

KJV ²⁸ And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.

OST ²⁸ Ses prophètes les enduisent de mortier; ils ont des visions trompeuses, et prononcent des oracles menteurs en disant: "Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel", quand l'Éternel n'a point parlé.

VULC ²⁸ Prophetæ autem ejus liniebant eos absque temperamento, videntes vana, et divinantes eis mendacium, dicentes : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : cum Dominus non sit locutus.

WLC ²⁸ וּנְבִיאֶ֗יהָ טָח֤וּ לָהֶם֙ תָּפֵ֔ל חֹזִ֣ים שָׁ֔וְא וְקֹסְמִ֥ים לָהֶ֖ם כָּזָ֑ב אֹמְרִ֗ים כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה וַֽיהוָ֖ה לֹ֥א דִבֵּֽר׃

KJV ²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.

OST ²⁹ Le peuple du pays use de violence; ils commettent des rapines, et font tort à l'affligé et au pauvre, et contrairement à toute justice ils oppriment l'étranger.

VULC ²⁹ Populi terræ calumniabantur calumniam, et rapiebant violenter : egenum et pauperem affligebant, et advenam opprimebant calumnia absque judicio.

WLC ²⁹ עַ֤ם הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ עָ֣שְׁקוּ עֹ֔שֶׁק וְגָזְל֖וּ גָּזֵ֑ל וְעָנִ֤י וְאֶבְיוֹן֙ הוֹנ֔וּ וְאֶת־ הַגֵּ֥ר עָשְׁק֖וּ בְּלֹ֥א מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

KJV ³⁰ And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

OST ³⁰ Je cherche au milieu d'eux quelqu'un qui relève la muraille, qui se tienne sur la brèche devant ma face en faveur du pays, afin que je ne le détruise pas; mais je ne trouve personne.

VULC ³⁰ Et quæsivi de eis virum qui interponeret sepem, et staret oppositus contra me pro terra, ne dissiparem eam : et non inveni.

WLC ³⁰ וָאֲבַקֵּ֣שׁ מֵהֶ֡ם אִ֣ישׁ גֹּֽדֵר־ גָּדֵר֩ וְעֹמֵ֨ד בַּפֶּ֧רֶץ לְפָנַ֛י בְּעַ֥ד הָאָ֖רֶץ לְבִלְתִּ֣י שַׁחֲתָ֑הּ וְלֹ֖א מָצָֽאתִי׃

KJV ³¹ Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
