KJV ² Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

OST ² Fils de l'homme, il y avait deux femmes, filles d'une même mère.

WLC ² בֶּן־ אָדָ֑ם שְׁתַּ֣יִם נָשִׁ֔ים בְּנ֥וֹת אֵם־ אַחַ֖ת הָיֽוּ׃

KJV ³ And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.

OST ³ Elles se prostituèrent en Égypte; elles se prostituèrent dans leur jeunesse; là leurs mamelles furent pressées, leur sein virginal y fut flétri.

WLC ³ וַתִּזְנֶ֣ינָה בְמִצְרַ֔יִם בִּנְעוּרֵיהֶ֖ן זָנ֑וּ שָׁ֚מָּה מֹעֲכ֣וּ שְׁדֵיהֶ֔ן וְשָׁ֣ם עִשּׂ֔וּ דַּדֵּ֖י בְּתוּלֵיהֶֽן׃

KJV ⁴ And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

OST ⁴ L'aînée se nommait Ohola et sa soeur Oholiba. Elles m'appartenaient, et enfantèrent des fils et des filles. Celle qui s'appelle Ohola, c'est Samarie, et Oholiba, c'est Jérusalem.

WLC ⁴ וּשְׁמוֹתָ֗ן אָהֳלָ֤ה הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ וְאָהֳלִיבָ֣ה אֲחוֹתָ֔הּ וַתִּֽהְיֶ֣ינָה לִ֔י וַתֵּלַ֖דְנָה בָּנִ֣ים וּבָנ֑וֹת וּשְׁמוֹתָ֕ן שֹׁמְר֣וֹן אָהֳלָ֔ה וִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם אָהֳלִיבָֽה׃

KJV ⁵ And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,

OST ⁵ Ohola me fut infidèle, et s'éprit de ses amants, les Assyriens, ses voisins,

WLC ⁵ וַתִּ֥זֶן אָהֳלָ֖ה תַּחְתָּ֑י וַתַּעְגַּב֙ עַֽל־ מְאַהֲבֶ֔יהָ אֶל־ אַשּׁ֖וּר קְרוֹבִֽים׃

KJV ⁶ Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.

OST ⁶ Vêtus de pourpre, gouverneurs et seigneurs, tous beaux jeunes hommes, des cavaliers montés sur des coursiers.

WLC ⁶ לְבֻשֵׁ֤י תְכֵ֙לֶת֙ פַּח֣וֹת וּסְגָנִ֔ים בַּח֥וּרֵי חֶ֖מֶד כֻּלָּ֑ם פָּרָשִׁ֕ים רֹכְבֵ֖י סוּסִֽים׃

KJV ⁷ Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

OST ⁷ Elle commit adultère avec eux tous, l'élite des enfants d'Assur; elle se souilla avec tous ceux dont elle s'était éprise, et avec toutes leurs idoles.

WLC ⁷ וַתִּתֵּ֤ן תַּזְנוּתֶ֙יהָ֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם מִבְחַ֥ר בְּנֵֽי־ אַשּׁ֖וּר כֻּלָּ֑ם וּבְכֹ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־ עָֽגְבָ֛ה בְּכָל־ גִּלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם נִטְמָֽאָה׃

KJV ⁸ Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.

OST ⁸ Elle n'a pas renoncé à ses prostitutions d'Égypte; car ils avaient déshonoré sa jeunesse, flétri son sein virginal, et répandu sur elle la souillure.

WLC ⁸ וְאֶת־ תַּזְנוּתֶ֤יהָ מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ לֹ֣א עָזָ֔בָה כִּ֤י אוֹתָהּ֙ שָׁכְב֣וּ בִנְעוּרֶ֔יהָ וְהֵ֥מָּה עִשּׂ֖וּ דַּדֵּ֣י בְתוּלֶ֑יהָ וַיִּשְׁפְּכ֥וּ תַזְנוּתָ֖ם עָלֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ⁹ Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

OST ⁹ C'est pourquoi je l'ai livrée aux mains de ses amants, aux mains des enfants d'Assur, dont elle s'était éprise.

WLC ⁹ לָכֵ֥ן נְתַתִּ֖יהָ בְּיַד־ מְאַֽהֲבֶ֑יהָ בְּיַד֙ בְּנֵ֣י אַשּׁ֔וּר אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָגְבָ֖ה עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹⁰ These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.

OST ¹⁰ Ils ont découvert sa nudité; ils ont enlevé ses fils et ses filles, et l'ont fait périr elle-même par l'épée. Elle est devenue fameuse parmi les femmes, après les jugements exercés sur elle.

WLC ¹⁰ הֵמָּה֮ גִּלּ֣וּ עֶרְוָתָהּ֒ בָּנֶ֤יהָ וּבְנוֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ לָקָ֔חוּ וְאוֹתָ֖הּ בַּחֶ֣רֶב הָרָ֑גוּ וַתְּהִי־ שֵׁם֙ לַנָּשִׁ֔ים וּשְׁפוּטִ֖ים עָ֥שׂוּ בָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹¹ And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.

OST ¹¹ Sa soeur Oholiba avait vu cela; néanmoins elle fut plus déréglée encore dans sa passion, et dans ses prostitutions elle a fait pire que sa soeur.

WLC ¹¹ וַתֵּ֙רֶא֙ אֲחוֹתָ֣הּ אָהֳלִיבָ֔ה וַתַּשְׁחֵ֥ת עַגְבָתָ֖הּ מִמֶּ֑נָּה וְאֶת־ תַּ֨זְנוּתֶ֔יהָ מִזְּנוּנֵ֖י אֲחוֹתָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹² She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

OST ¹² Elle s'éprit des enfants d'Assur, gouverneurs et seigneurs, ses voisins, magnifiquement vêtus, cavaliers montés sur des coursiers, tous beaux jeunes hommes.

WLC ¹² אֶל־ בְּנֵי֩ אַשּׁ֨וּר עָגָ֜בָה פַּח֨וֹת וּסְגָנִ֤ים קְרֹבִים֙ לְבֻשֵׁ֣י מִכְל֔וֹל פָּרָשִׁ֖ים רֹכְבֵ֣י סוּסִ֑ים בַּח֥וּרֵי חֶ֖מֶד כֻּלָּֽם׃

KJV ¹³ Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way,

OST ¹³ Je vis qu'elle s'était souillée, et que toutes les deux suivaient la même voie.

WLC ¹³ וָאֵ֖רֶא כִּ֣י נִטְמָ֑אָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ אֶחָ֖ד לִשְׁתֵּיהֶֽן׃

KJV ¹⁴ And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion,

OST ¹⁴ Mais elle est allée plus loin encore dans ses prostitutions; car elle vit des peintures d'hommes sur la muraille, des images de Caldéens peints en vermillon.

WLC ¹⁴ וַתּ֖וֹסֶף אֶל־ תַּזְנוּתֶ֑יהָ וַתֵּ֗רֶא אַנְשֵׁי֙ מְחֻקֶּ֣ה עַל־ הַקִּ֔יר צַלְמֵ֣י חֲקֻקִ֖ים בַּשָּׁשַֽׁר׃

KJV ¹⁵ Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity:

OST ¹⁵ Ils portaient des ceintures autour de leurs reins, et sur leurs têtes des rubans flottants de diverses couleurs; ils avaient tous l'aspect de nobles guerriers, portraits des enfants de Babylone en Caldée, leur pays natal.

WLC ¹⁵ חֲגוֹרֵ֨י אֵז֜וֹר בְּמָתְנֵיהֶ֗ם סְרוּחֵ֤י טְבוּלִים֙ בְּרָ֣אשֵׁיהֶ֔ם מַרְאֵ֥ה שָׁלִשִׁ֖ים כֻּלָּ֑ם דְּמ֤וּת בְּנֵֽי־ בָבֶל֙ כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים אֶ֖רֶץ מוֹלַדְתָּֽם׃

KJV ¹⁶ And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

KJV ¹⁷ And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them.

OST ¹⁷ Et les enfants de Babylone sont venus vers elle, pour partager la couche des amours, et ils l'ont souillée par leurs adultères; elle aussi s'est souillée avec eux, puis son coeur s'est détaché d'eux.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ אֵלֶ֤יהָ בְנֵֽי־ בָבֶל֙ לְמִשְׁכַּ֣ב דֹּדִ֔ים וַיְטַמְּא֥וּ אוֹתָ֖הּ בְּתַזְנוּתָ֑ם וַתִּ֨טְמָא־ בָ֔ם וַתֵּ֥קַע נַפְשָׁ֖הּ מֵהֶֽם׃

KJV ¹⁸ So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister.

OST ¹⁸ Elle a mis à nu ses adultères; elle a découvert sa nudité, et mon coeur s'est détaché d'elle, comme il s'était détaché de sa soeur;

WLC ¹⁸ וַתְּגַל֙ תַּזְנוּתֶ֔יהָ וַתְּגַ֖ל אֶת־ עֶרְוָתָ֑הּ וַתֵּ֤קַע נַפְשִׁי֙ מֵֽעָלֶ֔יהָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר נָקְעָ֥ה נַפְשִׁ֖י מֵעַ֥ל אֲחוֹתָֽהּ׃

KJV ¹⁹ Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

OST ¹⁹ Car elle a multiplié ses prostitutions, en songeant aux jours de sa jeunesse, où elle s'était prostituée au pays d'Égypte.

WLC ¹⁹ וַתַּרְבֶּ֖ה אֶת־ תַּזְנוּתֶ֑יהָ לִזְכֹּר֙ אֶת־ יְמֵ֣י נְעוּרֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר זָנְתָ֖ה בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ²⁰ For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

OST ²⁰ Elle s'est éprise de ces débauchés dont la chair est comme la chair des ânes, et l'ardeur pareille à celle des chevaux.

WLC ²⁰ וַֽתַּעְגְּבָ֔ה עַ֖ל פִּֽלַגְשֵׁיהֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר בְּשַׂר־ חֲמוֹרִים֙ בְּשָׂרָ֔ם וְזִרְמַ֥ת סוּסִ֖ים זִרְמָתָֽם׃

KJV ²¹ Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.

OST ²¹ Tu es retournée aux crimes de ta jeunesse, alors que les Égyptiens pressaient tes mamelles, à cause de ton sein virginal.

WLC ²¹ וַֽתִּפְקְדִ֔י אֵ֖ת זִמַּ֣ת נְעוּרָ֑יִךְ בַּעְשׂ֤וֹת מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ דַּדַּ֔יִךְ לְמַ֖עַן שְׁדֵ֥י נְעוּרָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ²² Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;

OST ²² C'est pourquoi, Oholiba, ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'excite contre toi tes amants dont ton coeur s'est détaché; je les amène de toute part contre toi:

KJV ²³ The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.

OST ²³ Les enfants de Babylone et tous les Caldéens, chefs, princes et nobles, et tous les enfants d'Assur avec eux, de beaux jeunes hommes, tous gouverneurs et seigneurs, guerriers fameux, tous montés sur des coursiers.

KJV ²⁴ And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.

OST ²⁴ Ils viennent contre toi avec des armes, des chars, de grands trains et une foule de peuples; ils t'environnent de toute part avec des pavois, des boucliers, des casques; je remets entre leurs mains le jugement; ils te jugeront à leur façon.

WLC ²⁴ וּבָ֣אוּ עָלַ֡יִךְ הֹ֠צֶן רֶ֤כֶב וְגַלְגַּל֙ וּבִקְהַ֣ל עַמִּ֔ים צִנָּ֤ה וּמָגֵן֙ וְקוֹבַ֔ע יָשִׂ֥ימוּ עָלַ֖יִךְ סָבִ֑יב וְנָתַתִּ֤י לִפְנֵיהֶם֙ מִשְׁפָּ֔ט וּשְׁפָט֖וּךְ בְּמִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁵ And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.

OST ²⁵ Je donne libre cours à l'ardeur de ma jalousie contre toi, et ils te traiteront avec fureur; ils te couperont le nez et les oreilles; et ce qui restera de toi périra par l'épée; ils enlèveront tes fils et tes filles, et ce qui restera de toi sera dévoré par le feu.

WLC ²⁵ וְנָתַתִּ֨י קִנְאָתִ֜י בָּ֗ךְ וְעָשׂ֤וּ אוֹתָךְ֙ בְּחֵמָ֔ה אַפֵּ֤ךְ וְאָזְנַ֙יִךְ֙ יָסִ֔ירוּ וְאַחֲרִיתֵ֖ךְ בַּחֶ֣רֶב תִּפּ֑וֹל הֵ֗מָּה בָּנַ֤יִךְ וּבְנוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ יִקָּ֔חוּ וְאַחֲרִיתֵ֖ךְ תֵּאָכֵ֥ל בָּאֵֽשׁ׃

KJV ²⁶ They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.

OST ²⁶ Ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements, et enlèveront les ornements dont tu te pares.

WLC ²⁶ וְהִפְשִׁיט֖וּךְ אֶת־ בְּגָדָ֑יִךְ וְלָקְח֖וּ כְּלֵ֥י תִפְאַרְתֵּֽךְ׃

KJV ²⁷ Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.

OST ²⁷ Je mettrai un terme à tes infamies et à tes prostitutions du pays d'Égypte; tu ne lèveras plus les yeux vers eux, et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'Égypte.

WLC ²⁷ וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֤י זִמָּתֵךְ֙ מִמֵּ֔ךְ וְאֶת־ זְנוּתֵ֖ךְ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלֹֽא־ תִשְׂאִ֤י עֵינַ֙יִךְ֙ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וּמִצְרַ֖יִם לֹ֥א תִזְכְּרִי־ עֽוֹד׃

KJV ²⁸ For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:

OST ²⁸ Car ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, je te livre aux mains de ceux que tu hais, aux mains de ceux dont ton coeur s'est détaché.

WLC ²⁸ כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה הִנְנִי֙ נֹֽתְנָ֔ךְ בְּיַ֖ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׂנֵ֑את בְּיַ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־ נָקְעָ֥ה נַפְשֵׁ֖ךְ מֵהֶֽם׃

KJV ²⁹ And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

OST ²⁹ Ils te traiteront avec haine, ils t'enlèveront tout le fruit de tes labeurs; ils te laisseront nue, entièrement nue, et aussi sera mise à découvert la honte de tes impudicités, de ton crime et de tes prostitutions.

WLC ²⁹ וְעָשׂ֨וּ אוֹתָ֜ךְ בְּשִׂנְאָ֗ה וְלָקְחוּ֙ כָּל־ יְגִיעֵ֔ךְ וַעֲזָב֖וּךְ עֵירֹ֣ם וְעֶרְיָ֑ה וְנִגְלָה֙ עֶרְוַ֣ת זְנוּנַ֔יִךְ וְזִמָּתֵ֖ךְ וְתַזְנוּתָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ³⁰ I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.

OST ³⁰ On te fera ces choses, parce que tu t'es prostituée auprès des nations, que tu t'es souillée avec leurs idoles.

WLC ³⁰ עָשֹׂ֥ה אֵ֖לֶּה לָ֑ךְ בִּזְנוֹתֵךְ֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י גוֹיִ֔ם עַ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ נִטְמֵ֖את בְּגִלּוּלֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ³¹ Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand.

OST ³¹ Tu as marché dans la voie de ta soeur, c'est pourquoi je mettrai sa coupe dans ta main.

WLC ³¹ בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ אֲחוֹתֵ֖ךְ הָלָ֑כְתְּ וְנָתַתִּ֥י כוֹסָ֖הּ בְּיָדֵֽךְ׃

KJV ³² Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.

OST ³² Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Tu boiras la coupe de ta soeur, coupe profonde et large; tu deviendras un objet de dérision et de moquerie; grande est sa capacité.

WLC ³² כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֔ה כּ֤וֹס אֲחוֹתֵךְ֙ תִּשְׁתִּ֔י הָעֲמֻקָּ֖ה וְהָרְחָבָ֑ה תִּהְיֶ֥ה לִצְחֹ֛ק וּלְלַ֖עַג מִרְבָּ֥ה לְהָכִֽיל׃

KJV ³³ Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

OST ³³ Tu seras remplie d'ivresse et de douleur; c'est une coupe de désolation et de stupeur que la coupe de ta soeur Samarie.

WLC ³³ שִׁכָּר֥וֹן וְיָג֖וֹן תִּמָּלֵ֑אִי כּ֚וֹס שַׁמָּ֣ה וּשְׁמָמָ֔ה כּ֖וֹס אֲחוֹתֵ֥ךְ שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

KJV ³⁴ Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

OST ³⁴ Tu la boiras, tu la videras, tu en rongeras les morceaux, et tu te déchireras le sein. Car j'ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.

WLC ³⁴ וְשָׁתִ֨ית אוֹתָ֜הּ וּמָצִ֗ית וְאֶת־ חֲרָשֶׂ֛יהָ תְּגָרֵ֖מִי וְשָׁדַ֣יִךְ תְּנַתֵּ֑קִי כִּ֚י אֲנִ֣י דִבַּ֔רְתִּי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

KJV ³⁵ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

OST ³⁵ C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Parce que tu m'as mis en oubli, et que tu m'as rejeté derrière ton dos, porte donc aussi la peine de tes infamies et de tes adultères.

WLC ³⁵ לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֚עַן שָׁכַ֣חַתְּ אוֹתִ֔י וַתַּשְׁלִ֥יכִי אוֹתִ֖י אַחֲרֵ֣י גַוֵּ֑ךְ וְגַם־ אַ֛תְּ שְׂאִ֥י זִמָּתֵ֖ךְ וְאֶת־ תַּזְנוּתָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ³⁶ The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;

OST ³⁶ Et l'Éternel me dit: Fils de l'homme, ne jugeras-tu pas Ohola. et Oholiba? Mets sous leurs yeux leurs abominations.

KJV ³⁷ That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.

OST ³⁷ Elles ont commis adultère, et il y a du sang à leurs mains; elles ont commis adultère avec leurs idoles; et même, les enfants qu'elles ont enfantés, elles les ont fait passer par le feu pour être dévorés!

KJV ³⁸ Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

OST ³⁸ Voici ce qu'elles m'ont encore fait: en un même jour, elles ont souillé mon sanctuaire et profané mes sabbats;

KJV ³⁹ For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.

OST ³⁹ Après avoir immolé leurs enfants à leurs idoles, elles sont entrées le même jour dans mon sanctuaire pour le profaner! Voilà ce qu'elles ont fait au milieu de ma maison.

KJV ⁴⁰ And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,

OST ⁴⁰ Bien plus, elles ont fait chercher des hommes venant d'un pays éloigné; elles leur ont envoyé des messagers, et voici, ils sont venus. Pour eux tu t'es lavée, tu as fardé ton visage, et tu t'es parée d'ornements.

KJV ⁴¹ And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.

WLC ⁴¹ וְיָשַׁבְתְּ֙ עַל־ מִטָּ֣ה כְבוּדָּ֔ה וְשֻׁלְחָ֥ן עָר֖וּךְ לְפָנֶ֑יהָ וּקְטָרְתִּ֥י וְשַׁמְנִ֖י שַׂ֥מְתְּ עָלֶֽיהָ׃

KJV ⁴² And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

OST ⁴² Là on entendait le bruit d'une multitude joyeuse; et parmi cette foule d'hommes, on a fait venir des Sabéens du désert, qui ont mis des bracelets aux mains des deux soeurs, et de magnifiques couronnes sur leur tête.

KJV ⁴³ Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?

KJV ⁴⁴ Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.

KJV ⁴⁵ And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

OST ⁴⁵ Mais des hommes justes les jugeront comme on juge des femmes adultères, comme on juge celles qui répandent le sang, car elles sont adultères et il y a du sang à leurs mains.

KJV ⁴⁶ For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.

OST ⁴⁷ Et cette multitude les assommera à coups de pierres, et les taillera en pièces par l'épée; ils égorgeront leurs fils et leurs filles; ils brûleront leurs maisons par le feu.

WLC ⁴⁷ וְרָגְמ֨וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֥ן אֶ֙בֶן֙ קָהָ֔ל וּבָרֵ֥א אוֹתְהֶ֖ן בְּחַרְבוֹתָ֑ם בְּנֵיהֶ֤ם וּבְנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ יַהֲרֹ֔גוּ וּבָתֵּיהֶ֖ן בָּאֵ֥שׁ יִשְׂרֹֽפוּ׃

KJV ⁴⁸ Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.

KJV ⁴⁹ And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

OST ⁴⁹ On fera retomber sur vous-mêmes vos infamies; vous porterez la peine de vos péchés d'idolâtrie, et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
