KJV ² Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

OST ² Et toi, fils de l'homme, ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, au sujet du pays d'Israël: La fin arrive; voici la fin pour les quatre extrémités du pays!

VULC ² Et tu, fili hominis, hæc dicit Dominus Deus terræ Israël : [Finis venit : venit finis super quatuor plagas terræ.

KJV ³ Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

OST ³ Maintenant, c'est la fin pour toi; j'enverrai sur toi ma colère; je te jugerai selon ta conduite, et je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.

VULC ³ Nunc finis super te, et immittam furorem meum in te :
et judicabo te juxta vias tuas,
et ponam contra te omnes abominationes tuas.

KJV ⁴ And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

OST ⁴ Mon oeil ne t'épargnera point, et je n'aurai pas de compassion, mais je ferai retomber sur toi ta conduite, et tes abominations seront au milieu de toi. Et vous saurez que je suis l'Éternel.

VULC ⁴ Et non parcet oculus meus super te, et non miserebor :
sed vias tuas ponam super te, et abominationes tuæ in medio tui erunt,
et scietis quia ego Dominus.

KJV ⁵ Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.

OST ⁵ Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Un malheur, un malheur unique! le voici qui arrive!

VULC ⁵ Hæc dicit Dominus Deus :
Afflictio una, afflictio ecce venit.

KJV ⁶ An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.

OST ⁶ La fin vient, la fin vient! Elle s'est réveillée contre toi; la voici qui vient!

VULC ⁶ Finis venit, venit finis :
evigilavit adversum te, ecce venit.

KJV ⁷ The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.

OST ⁷ Ton tour est venu, habitant du pays! Le temps est arrivé, le jour approche, jour d'effroi, et non plus de cris joyeux dans les montagnes.

VULC ⁷ Venit contritio super te, qui habitas in terra :
venit tempus, prope est dies occisionis,
et non gloriæ montium.

KJV ⁸ Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

OST ⁸ Maintenant je vais bientôt répandre ma fureur sur toi, et assouvir contre toi ma colère; je te jugerai selon tes voies, et je ferai retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.

VULC ⁸ Nunc de propinquo effundam iram meam super te,
et complebo furorem meum in te :
et judicabo te juxta vias tuas,
et imponam tibi omnia scelera tua,

KJV ¹⁰ Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

VULC ¹⁰ Ecce dies, ecce venit :
egressa est contritio,
floruit virga, germinavit superbia,

KJV ¹¹ Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of their's: neither shall there be wailing for them.

et non erit requies in eis.

KJV ¹² The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

OST ¹² Le temps vient, le jour approche; que l'acheteur ne se réjouisse point et que le vendeur ne mène point deuil, car le courroux va éclater contre toute leur multitude!

VULC ¹² Venit tempus, appropinquavit dies :
qui emit, non lætetur,
et qui vendit, non lugeat :
quia ira super omnem populum ejus.

KJV ¹³ For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

OST ¹³ Car le vendeur ne recouvrera pas ce qu'il a vendu, quand même il serait encore vivant; car la prophétie concernant toute leur multitude ne sera point révoquée; et aucun, grâce à son iniquité, ne maintiendra sa vie.

VULC ¹³ Quia qui vendit, ad id quod vendidit non revertetur :
et adhuc in viventibus vita eorum :
visio enim ad omnem multitudinem ejus non regredietur,
et vir in iniquitate vitæ suæ non confortabitur.]

KJV ¹⁴ They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

KJV ¹⁵ The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

KJV ¹⁶ But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

KJV ¹⁷ All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.

KJV ¹⁸ They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

VULC ¹⁸ Et accingent se ciliciis,
et operiet eos formido :
et in omni facie confusio,
et in universis capitibus eorum calvitium.

KJV ¹⁹ They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

OST ¹⁹ Ils jetteront leur argent par les rues, et leur or leur sera en abomination; ni leur argent, ni leur or ne pourront les délivrer au jour de la grande colère de l'Éternel; ils n'en rassasieront point leur âme, ni n'en rempliront leurs entrailles, car ce fut là la pierre d'achoppement de leur iniquité.

VULC ¹⁹ Argentum eorum foras projicietur,
et aurum eorum in sterquilinium erit :
argentum eorum et aurum eorum
non valebit liberare eos in die furoris Domini :
animam suam non saturabunt,
et ventres eorum non implebuntur,
quia scandalum iniquitatis eorum factum est.

KJV ²⁰ As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.

OST ²⁰ Ils étaient fiers de cette splendide parure; ils en ont fait les images de leurs abominations, de leurs idoles; c'est pourquoi j'en ferai pour eux une chose souillée.

VULC ²⁰ Et ornamentum monilium suorum in superbiam posuerunt,
et imagines abominationum suarum et simulacrorum fecerunt ex eo :
propter hoc dedi eis illud in immunditiam.

KJV ²¹ And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.

OST ²¹ Je la livrerai en proie aux mains des étrangers, et comme butin aux méchants de la terre, afin qu'ils la profanent.

VULC ²¹ Et dabo illud in manus alienorum ad diripiendum,
et impiis terræ in prædam,
et contaminabunt illud.

KJV ²² My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.

OST ²² Et je détournerai d'eux ma face, et l'on souillera mon sanctuaire; des furieux y entreront et le profaneront.

VULC ²² Et avertam faciem meam ab eis,
et violabunt arcanum meum :
et introibunt in illud emissarii,
et contaminabunt illud.

KJV ²³ Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

VULC ²³ Fac conclusionem,
quoniam terra plena est judicio sanguinum,
et civitas plena iniquitate.

KJV ²⁴ Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

OST ²⁴ Et je ferai venir les plus méchantes des nations, afin qu'elles s'emparent de leurs maisons; je mettrai un terme à l'orgueil des puissants, et leurs saints lieux seront profanés.

VULC ²⁴ Et adducam pessimos de gentibus,
et possidebunt domos eorum :
et quiescere faciam superbiam potentium,
et possidebunt sanctuaria eorum.

KJV ²⁵ Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

OST ²⁵ La destruction arrive! Ils cherchent le salut, mais il n'y en a point.

VULC ²⁵ Angustia superveniente, requirent pacem,
et non erit.

KJV ²⁶ Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.

OST ²⁶ Il arrive malheur sur malheur; on apprend nouvelle sur nouvelle; ils demandent des visions au prophète; la loi fait défaut au sacrificateur, et le conseil aux anciens.

VULC ²⁶ Conturbatio super conturbationem veniet,
et auditus super auditum :
et quærent visionem de propheta,
et lex peribit a sacerdote,
et consilium a senioribus.

KJV ²⁷ The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

OST ²⁷ Le roi mène deuil, le prince s'épouvante, et les mains du peuple du pays sont tremblantes. Je les traiterai selon leurs voies; je les jugerai comme ils le méritent, et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.

VULC ²⁷ Rex lugebit, et princeps induetur mœrore,
et manus populi terræ conturbabuntur :
secundum viam eorum faciam eis,
et secundum judicia eorum judicabo eos,
et scient quia ego Dominus.]
