KJV ¹ And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.

S21 ¹ La sixième année, le cinquième jour du sixième mois, alors que j'étais assis dans ma maison et que les anciens de Juda étaient assis devant moi, la main du Seigneur, de l'Eternel, est tombée sur moi.

VULC ¹ Et factum est in anno sexto, in sexto mense, in quinta mensis, ego sedebam in domo mea, et senes Juda sedebant coram me, et cecidit ibi super me manus Domini Dei.

WLC ¹ וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשִּׁשִּׁ֗ית בַּשִּׁשִּׁי֙ בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֣ה לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ אֲנִי֙ יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בְּבֵיתִ֔י וְזִקְנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה יוֹשְׁבִ֣ים לְפָנָ֑י וַתִּפֹּ֤ל עָלַי֙ שָׁ֔ם יַ֖ד אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהֹוִֽה׃

KJV ² Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

S21 ² J'ai regardé et j'ai vu apparaître une forme qui avait l'aspect du feu. Depuis ce qui semblait être ses hanches jusqu'en bas, c'était du feu, et depuis ce qui semblait être ses hanches jusqu'en haut, c'était resplendissant, une sorte d'éclat étincelant.

VULC ² Et vidi : et ecce similitudo quasi aspectus ignis : ab aspectu lumborum ejus et deorsum, ignis : et a lumbis ejus et sursum, quasi aspectus splendoris, ut visio electri.

WLC ² וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה וְהִנֵּ֤ה דְמוּת֙ כְּמַרְאֵה־ אֵ֔שׁ מִמַּרְאֵ֥ה מָתְנָ֛יו וּלְמַ֖טָּה אֵ֑שׁ וּמִמָּתְנָ֣יו וּלְמַ֔עְלָה כְּמַרְאֵה־ זֹ֖הַר כְּעֵ֥ין הַחַשְׁמַֽלָה׃

KJV ³ And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

S21 ³ Il a tendu ce qui avait la forme d'une main et m'a attrapé par les cheveux. L'Esprit m'a enlevé entre terre et ciel et m'a transporté dans des visions divines à Jérusalem, devant l'entrée intérieure orientée vers le nord. C'était là qu'était installée l'idole de la jalousie qui provoque la jalousie de l'Eternel.

VULC ³ Et emissa similitudo manus apprehendit me in cincinno capitis mei, et elevavit me spiritus inter terram et cælum : et adduxit me in Jerusalem, in visione Dei, juxta ostium interius quod respiciebat ad aquilonem, ubi erat statutum idolum zeli ad provocandam æmulationem.

WLC ³ וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ תַּבְנִ֣ית יָ֔ד וַיִּקָּחֵ֖נִי בְּצִיצִ֣ת רֹאשִׁ֑י וַתִּשָּׂ֣א אֹתִ֣י ר֣וּחַ ׀ בֵּֽין־ הָאָ֣רֶץ וּבֵ֣ין הַשָּׁמַ֡יִם וַתָּבֵא֩ אֹתִ֨י יְרוּשָׁלְַ֜מָה בְּמַרְא֣וֹת אֱלֹהִ֗ים אֶל־ פֶּ֜תַח שַׁ֤עַר הַפְּנִימִית֙ הַפּוֹנֶ֣ה צָפ֔וֹנָה אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֣ם מוֹשַׁ֔ב סֵ֖מֶל הַקִּנְאָ֥ה הַמַּקְנֶֽה׃

KJV ⁴ And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

S21 ⁴ La gloire du Dieu d'Israël était là, telle que je l'avais vue en vision dans la vallée.

VULC ⁴ Et ecce ibi gloria Dei Israël, secundum visionem quam videram in campo.

WLC ⁴ וְהִ֨נֵּה־ שָׁ֔ם כְּב֖וֹד אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כַּמַּרְאֶ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר רָאִ֖יתִי בַּבִּקְעָֽה׃

KJV ⁵ Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

S21 ⁵ Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, lève donc les yeux du côté du nord!» J'ai levé les yeux du côté du nord, et voici que cette idole de la jalousie était au nord de la porte qui conduit à l'autel, dans le passage.

VULC ⁵ Et dixit ad me : Fili hominis, leva oculos tuos ad viam aquilonis. Et levavi oculos meos ad viam aquilonis, et ecce ab aquilone portæ altaris idolum zeli in ipso introitu.

WLC ⁵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י בֶּן־ אָדָ֕ם שָׂא־ נָ֥א עֵינֶ֖יךָ דֶּ֣רֶךְ צָפ֑וֹנָה וָאֶשָּׂ֤א עֵינַי֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ צָפ֔וֹנָה וְהִנֵּ֤ה מִצָּפוֹן֙ לְשַׁ֣עַר הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ סֵ֛מֶל הַקִּנְאָ֥ה הַזֶּ֖ה בַּבִּאָֽה׃

KJV ⁶ He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.

S21 ⁶ Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, vois-tu ce qu'ils font? Vois-tu à quelles pratiques abominables s'adonne ici la communauté d'Israël pour que je m'éloigne de mon sanctuaire? Mais tu verras encore d'autres pratiques tout aussi abominables.»

VULC ⁶ Et dixit ad me : Fili hominis, putasne vides tu quid isti faciunt, abominationes magnas quas domus Israël facit hic, ut procul recedam a sanctuario meo ? et adhuc conversus videbis abominationes majores.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י בֶּן־ אָדָ֕ם הֲרֹאֶ֥ה אַתָּ֖ה עֹשִׂ֑ים תּוֹעֵב֨וֹת גְּדֹל֜וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּֽית־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל ׀ עֹשִׂ֣ים פֹּ֗ה לְרָֽחֳקָה֙ מֵעַ֣ל מִקְדָּשִׁ֔י וְעוֹד֙ תָּשׁ֣וּב תִּרְאֶ֔ה תּוֹעֵב֖וֹת גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁷ And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

S21 ⁷ Il m'a alors conduit à l'entrée du parvis. En regardant, j'ai vu un trou dans le mur.

VULC ⁷ Et introduxit me ad ostium atrii, et vidi, et ecce foramen unum in pariete.

WLC ⁷ וַיָּבֵ֥א אֹתִ֖י אֶל־ פֶּ֣תַח הֶֽחָצֵ֑ר וָאֶרְאֶ֕ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה חֹר־ אֶחָ֖ד בַּקִּֽיר׃

KJV ⁸ Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

S21 ⁸ Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, perce donc le mur!» J'ai percé le mur et une entrée est apparue.

VULC ⁸ Et dixit ad me : Fili hominis, fode parietem. Et cum fodissem parietem, apparuit ostium unum.

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י בֶּן־ אָדָ֖ם חֲתָר־ נָ֣א בַקִּ֑יר וָאֶחְתֹּ֣ר בַּקִּ֔יר וְהִנֵּ֖ה פֶּ֥תַח אֶחָֽד׃

KJV ⁹ And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

S21 ⁹ Alors il m'a dit: «Entre et vois à quelles pratiques abominables et funestes ils s'adonnent ici!»

VULC ⁹ Et dixit ad me : Ingredere, et vide abominationes pessimas quas isti faciunt hic.

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלָ֑י בֹּ֤א וּרְאֵה֙ אֶת־ הַתּוֹעֵב֣וֹת הָרָע֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם עֹשִׂ֖ים פֹּֽה׃

KJV ¹⁰ So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.

S21 ¹⁰ Je suis entré et, en regardant, j'ai vu qu'il y avait toutes sortes de représentations de reptiles et de bêtes monstrueuses, ainsi que toutes les idoles de la communauté d'Israël, peintes sur le mur tout autour.

VULC ¹⁰ Et ingressus vidi, et ecce omnis similitudo reptilium et animalium, abominatio, et universa idola domus Israël, depicta erant in pariete in circuitu per totum :

WLC ¹⁰ וָאָבוֹא֮ וָֽאֶרְאֶה֒ וְהִנֵּ֨ה כָל־ תַּבְנִ֜ית רֶ֤מֶשׂ וּבְהֵמָה֙ שֶׁ֔קֶץ וְכָל־ גִּלּוּלֵ֖י בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מְחֻקֶּ֥ה עַל־ הַקִּ֖יר סָבִ֥יב ׀ סָבִֽיב׃

KJV ¹¹ And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

S21 ¹¹ Il y avait 70 hommes, des anciens de la communauté d'Israël, qui se tenaient debout devant ces idoles. Jaazania, le fils de Shaphan, était au milieu d'eux. Chacun avait un encensoir à la main, et l'odeur provenant du nuage d'encens se diffusait.

VULC ¹¹ et septuaginta viri de senioribus domus Israël : et Jezonias filius Saphan stabat in medio eorum stantium ante picturas : et unusquisque habebat thuribulum in manu sua, et vapor nebulæ de thure consurgebat.

WLC ¹¹ וְשִׁבְעִ֣ים אִ֣ישׁ מִזִּקְנֵ֣י בֵֽית־ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל וְיַאֲזַנְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־ שָׁפָ֜ן עֹמֵ֤ד בְּתוֹכָם֙ עֹמְדִ֣ים לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם וְאִ֥ישׁ מִקְטַרְתּ֖וֹ בְּיָד֑וֹ וַעֲתַ֥ר עֲנַֽן־ הַקְּטֹ֖רֶת עֹלֶֽה׃

KJV ¹² Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

S21 ¹² Il m'a dit: «Fils de l'homme, vois-tu ce que les anciens de la communauté d'Israël font en secret, chacun dans sa chambre pleine d'images sacrées? De fait, ils se disent: ‘L'Eternel ne nous voit pas, l'Eternel a abandonné le pays.'»

VULC ¹² Et dixit ad me : Certe vides, fili hominis, quæ seniores domus Israël faciunt in tenebris, unusquisque in abscondito cubiculi sui : dicunt enim : Non videt Dominus nos ; dereliquit Dominus terram.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַי֮ הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־ אָדָם֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר זִקְנֵ֤י בֵֽית־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עֹשִׂ֣ים בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ אִ֖ישׁ בְּחַדְרֵ֣י מַשְׂכִּית֑וֹ כִּ֣י אֹמְרִ֗ים אֵ֤ין יְהוָה֙ רֹאֶ֣ה אֹתָ֔נוּ עָזַ֥ב יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹³ He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.

S21 ¹³ Il m'a dit: «Tu verras encore d'autres pratiques tout aussi abominables auxquelles ils s'adonnent.»

VULC ¹³ Et dixit ad me : Adhuc conversus videbis abominationes majores, quas isti faciunt.

WLC ¹³ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלָ֑י ע֣וֹד תָּשׁ֥וּב תִּרְאֶ֛ה תּוֹעֵב֥וֹת גְּדֹל֖וֹת אֲשֶׁר־ הֵ֥מָּה עֹשִֽׂים׃

KJV ¹⁴ Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

S21 ¹⁴ Puis il m'a conduit devant l'entrée du temple de l'Eternel, du côté nord. Il y avait là des femmes assises, en train de pleurer Thammuz.

VULC ¹⁴ Et introduxit me per ostium portæ domus Domini quod respiciebat ad aquilonem, et ecce ibi mulieres sedebant plangentes Adonidem.

WLC ¹⁴ וַיָּבֵ֣א אֹתִ֗י אֶל־ פֶּ֙תַח֙ שַׁ֣עַר בֵּית־ יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֶל־ הַצָּפ֑וֹנָה וְהִנֵּה־ שָׁם֙ הַנָּשִׁ֣ים יֹֽשְׁב֔וֹת מְבַכּ֖וֹת אֶת־ הַתַּמּֽוּז׃

KJV ¹⁵ Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.

S21 ¹⁵ Il m'a dit: «As-tu vu, fils de l'homme? Tu verras encore d'autres pratiques abominables plus grandes que celles-là.»

VULC ¹⁵ Et dixit ad me : Certe vidisti, fili hominis : adhuc conversus videbis abominationes majores his.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלַ֖י הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־ אָדָ֑ם ע֣וֹד תָּשׁ֥וּב תִּרְאֶ֛ה תּוֹעֵב֥וֹת גְּדֹל֖וֹת מֵאֵֽלֶּה׃

KJV ¹⁶ And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

S21 ¹⁶ Puis il m'a conduit dans le parvis intérieur de la maison de l'Eternel. Et voici qu'à l'entrée du temple de l'Eternel, entre le portique et l'autel, il y avait environ 25 hommes qui tournaient le dos au temple de l'Eternel et regardaient vers l'est. Ils se prosternaient en direction de l'est, devant le soleil.

VULC ¹⁶ Et introduxit me in atrium domus Domini interius, et ecce in ostio templi Domini, inter vestibulum et altare, quasi viginti quinque viri dorsa habentes contra templum Domini, et facies ad orientem : et adorabant ad ortum solis.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיָּבֵ֣א אֹתִ֗י אֶל־ חֲצַ֣ר בֵּית־ יְהוָה֮ הַפְּנִימִית֒ וְהִנֵּה־ פֶ֜תַח הֵיכַ֣ל יְהוָ֗ה בֵּ֤ין הָֽאוּלָם֙ וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ כְּעֶשְׂרִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה אִ֑ישׁ אֲחֹ֨רֵיהֶ֜ם אֶל־ הֵיכַ֤ל יְהוָה֙ וּפְנֵיהֶ֣ם קֵ֔דְמָה וְהֵ֛מָּה מִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֥ם קֵ֖דְמָה לַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃

KJV ¹⁷ Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.

S21 ¹⁷ Il m'a dit: «As-tu vu, fils de l'homme? N'est-ce pas suffisant pour la communauté de Juda de s'adonner aux pratiques abominables auxquelles elle s'est livrée ici? Faut-il encore qu'ils remplissent le pays de violence et ne cessent pas de m'irriter? Les voici qui approchent le rameau de leur nez!

VULC ¹⁷ Et dixit ad me : Certe vidisti, fili hominis : numquid leve est hoc domui Juda, ut facerent abominationes istas quas fecerunt hic, quia replentes terram iniquitate, conversi sunt ad irritandum me ? et ecce applicant ramum ad nares suas.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַי֮ הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־ אָדָם֒ הֲנָקֵל֙ לְבֵ֣ית יְהוּדָ֔ה מֵעֲשׂ֕וֹת אֶת־ הַתּוֹעֵב֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָֽשׂוּ־ פֹ֑ה כִּֽי־ מָלְא֨וּ אֶת־ הָאָ֜רֶץ חָמָ֗ס וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ לְהַכְעִיסֵ֔נִי וְהִנָּ֛ם שֹׁלְחִ֥ים אֶת־ הַזְּמוֹרָ֖ה אֶל־ אַפָּֽם׃

KJV ¹⁸ Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

S21 ¹⁸ Moi aussi, j'agirai avec fureur. Mon regard sera sans pitié et je n'aurai aucune compassion. Quand ils crieront à pleine voix vers moi, je ne les écouterai pas.»

VULC ¹⁸ Ergo et ego faciam in furore : non parcet oculus meus, nec miserebor : et cum clamaverint ad aures meas voce magna, non exaudiam eos.

WLC ¹⁸ וְגַם־ אֲנִי֙ אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה בְחֵמָ֔ה לֹֽא־ תָח֥וֹס עֵינִ֖י וְלֹ֣א אֶחְמֹ֑ל וְקָרְא֤וּ בְאָזְנַי֙ ק֣וֹל גָּד֔וֹל וְלֹ֥א אֶשְׁמַ֖ע אוֹתָֽם׃
