KJV ² And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

S21 ² La terre n'était que chaos et vide. Il y avait des ténèbres à la surface de l'abîme et l'Esprit de Dieu planait au-dessus de l'eau.

VULC ² Terra autem erat inanis et vacua, et tenebræ erant super faciem abyssi : et spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas.

KJV ³ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

S21 ³ Dieu dit: «Qu'il y ait de la lumière!» et il y eut de la lumière.

VULC ³ Dixitque Deus : Fiat lux. Et facta est lux.

WLC ³ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֖ים יְהִ֣י א֑וֹר וַֽיְהִי־ אֽוֹר׃

KJV ⁴ And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

S21 ⁴ Dieu vit que la lumière était bonne, et il sépara la lumière des ténèbres.

VULC ⁴ Et vidit Deus lucem quod esset bona : et divisit lucem a tenebris.

KJV ⁵ And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

S21 ⁵ Dieu appela la lumière jour, et les ténèbres nuit. Il y eut un soir et il y eut un matin. Ce fut le premier jour.

VULC ⁵ Appellavitque lucem Diem, et tenebras Noctem : factumque est vespere et mane, dies unus.

WLC ⁵ וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ לָאוֹר֙ י֔וֹם וְלַחֹ֖שֶׁךְ קָ֣רָא לָ֑יְלָה וַֽיְהִי־ עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי־ בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם אֶחָֽד׃

KJV ⁶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

S21 ⁶ Dieu dit: «Qu'il y ait une étendue entre les eaux pour les séparer les unes des autres!»

VULC ⁶ Dixit quoque Deus : Fiat firmamentum in medio aquarum : et dividat aquas ab aquis.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יְהִ֥י רָקִ֖יעַ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַמָּ֑יִם וִיהִ֣י מַבְדִּ֔יל בֵּ֥ין מַ֖יִם לָמָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁷ And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

S21 ⁷ Dieu fit l'étendue et sépara ainsi l'eau qui est au-dessous de l'étendue de celle qui est au-dessus. Cela se passa ainsi.

VULC ⁷ Et fecit Deus firmamentum, divisitque aquas, quæ erant sub firmamento, ab his, quæ erant super firmamentum. Et factum est ita.

WLC ⁷ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִים֮ אֶת־ הָרָקִיעַ֒ וַיַּבְדֵּ֗ל בֵּ֤ין הַמַּ֙יִם֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מִתַּ֣חַת לָרָקִ֔יעַ וּבֵ֣ין הַמַּ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֖ר מֵעַ֣ל לָרָקִ֑יעַ וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

WLC ⁸ וַיִּקְרָ֧א אֱלֹהִ֛ים לָֽרָקִ֖יעַ שָׁמָ֑יִם וַֽיְהִי־ עֶ֥רֶב וַֽיְהִי־ בֹ֖קֶר י֥וֹם שֵׁנִֽי׃

KJV ⁹ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

S21 ⁹ Dieu dit: «Que les eaux qui sont au-dessous du ciel se rassemblent à un seul endroit et que le sec apparaisse!» Et cela se passa ainsi.

VULC ⁹ Dixit vero Deus : Congregentur aquæ, quæ sub cælo sunt, in locum unum : et appareat arida. Et factum est ita.

WLC ⁹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים יִקָּו֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם מִתַּ֤חַת הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ אֶל־ מָק֣וֹם אֶחָ֔ד וְתֵרָאֶ֖ה הַיַּבָּשָׁ֑ה וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

S21 ¹⁰ Dieu appela le sec terre, et la masse des eaux mers. Dieu vit que c'était bon.

VULC ¹⁰ Et vocavit Deus aridam Terram, congregationesque aquarum appellavit Maria. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ לַיַּבָּשָׁה֙ אֶ֔רֶץ וּלְמִקְוֵ֥ה הַמַּ֖יִם קָרָ֣א יַמִּ֑ים וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־ טֽוֹב׃

KJV ¹¹ And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

S21 ¹¹ Puis Dieu dit: «Que la terre produise de la verdure, de l'herbe à graine, des arbres fruitiers qui donnent du fruit selon leur espèce et qui contiennent leur semence sur la terre!» Et cela se passa ainsi:

VULC ¹¹ Et ait : Germinet terra herbam virentem, et facientem semen, et lignum pomiferum faciens fructum juxta genus suum, cujus semen in semetipso sit super terram. Et factum est ita.

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים תַּֽדְשֵׁ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ דֶּ֔שֶׁא עֵ֚שֶׂב מַזְרִ֣יעַ זֶ֔רַע עֵ֣ץ פְּרִ֞י עֹ֤שֶׂה פְּרִי֙ לְמִינ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר זַרְעוֹ־ ב֖וֹ עַל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ¹² And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

S21 ¹² la terre produisit de la verdure, de l'herbe à graine selon son espèce et des arbres qui donnent du fruit et contiennent leur semence selon leur espèce. Dieu vit que c'était bon.

VULC ¹² Et protulit terra herbam virentem, et facientem semen juxta genus suum, lignumque faciens fructum, et habens unumquodque sementem secundum speciem suam. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

KJV ¹⁴ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

S21 ¹⁴ Dieu dit: «Qu'il y ait des luminaires dans l'étendue du ciel pour séparer le jour de la nuit! Ils serviront de signes pour marquer les époques, les jours et les années,

VULC ¹⁴ Dixit autem Deus : Fiant luminaria in firmamento cæli, et dividant diem ac noctem, et sint in signa et tempora, et dies et annos :

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים יְהִ֤י מְאֹרֹת֙ בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם לְהַבְדִּ֕יל בֵּ֥ין הַיּ֖וֹם וּבֵ֣ין הַלָּ֑יְלָה וְהָי֤וּ לְאֹתֹת֙ וּלְמ֣וֹעֲדִ֔ים וּלְיָמִ֖ים וְשָׁנִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁵ And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

S21 ¹⁵ ainsi que de luminaires dans l'étendue du ciel pour éclairer la terre.» Et cela se passa ainsi:

VULC ¹⁵ ut luceant in firmamento cæli, et illuminent terram. Et factum est ita.

WLC ¹⁵ וְהָי֤וּ לִמְאוֹרֹת֙ בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם לְהָאִ֖יר עַל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ¹⁶ And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

S21 ¹⁶ Dieu fit les deux grands luminaires, le plus grand pour présider au jour et le plus petit pour présider à la nuit. Il fit aussi les étoiles.

VULC ¹⁶ Fecitque Deus duo luminaria magna : luminare majus, ut præesset diei : et luminare minus, ut præesset nocti : et stellas.

WLC ¹⁶ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת־ שְׁנֵ֥י הַמְּאֹרֹ֖ת הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים אֶת־ הַמָּא֤וֹר הַגָּדֹל֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַיּ֔וֹם וְאֶת־ הַמָּא֤וֹר הַקָּטֹן֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַלַּ֔יְלָה וְאֵ֖ת הַכּוֹכָבִֽים׃

KJV ¹⁷ And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

VULC ¹⁷ Et posuit eas in firmamento cæli, ut lucerent super terram,

WLC ¹⁷ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם לְהָאִ֖יר עַל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁸ And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

S21 ¹⁸ pour dominer sur le jour et la nuit et pour séparer la lumière des ténèbres. Dieu vit que c'était bon.

VULC ¹⁸ et præessent diei ac nocti, et dividerent lucem ac tenebras. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

WLC ¹⁸ וְלִמְשֹׁל֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם וּבַלַּ֔יְלָה וּֽלֲהַבְדִּ֔יל בֵּ֥ין הָא֖וֹר וּבֵ֣ין הַחֹ֑שֶׁךְ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־ טֽוֹב׃

KJV ²⁰ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

S21 ²⁰ Dieu dit: «Que l'eau pullule d'animaux vivants et que des oiseaux volent dans le ciel au-dessus de la terre!»

VULC ²⁰ Dixit etiam Deus : Producant aquæ reptile animæ viventis, et volatile super terram sub firmamento cæli.

WLC ²⁰ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יִשְׁרְצ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם שֶׁ֖רֶץ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֑ה וְעוֹף֙ יְעוֹפֵ֣ף עַל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ עַל־ פְּנֵ֖י רְקִ֥יעַ הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

KJV ²¹ And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

S21 ²¹ Dieu créa les grands poissons et tous les animaux vivants capables de se déplacer: l'eau en pullula selon leur espèce. Il créa aussi tous les oiseaux selon leur espèce. Dieu vit que c'était bon,

VULC ²¹ Creavitque Deus cete grandia, et omnem animam viventem atque motabilem, quam produxerant aquæ in species suas, et omne volatile secundum genus suum. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

WLC ²¹ וַיִּבְרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת־ הַתַּנִּינִ֖ם הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים וְאֵ֣ת כָּל־ נֶ֣פֶשׁ הַֽחַיָּ֣ה ׀ הָֽרֹמֶ֡שֶׂת אֲשֶׁר֩ שָׁרְצ֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם לְמִֽינֵהֶ֗ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־ ע֤וֹף כָּנָף֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־ טֽוֹב׃

KJV ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

S21 ²² et il les bénit en disant: «Reproduisez-vous, devenez nombreux et remplissez les mers, et que les oiseaux se multiplient sur la terre!»

VULC ²² Benedixitque eis, dicens : Crescite, et multiplicamini, et replete aquas maris : avesque multiplicentur super terram.

KJV ²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

S21 ²⁴ Dieu dit: «Que la terre produise des animaux vivants selon leur espèce: du bétail, des reptiles et des animaux terrestres selon leur espèce.» Et cela se passa ainsi.

VULC ²⁴ Dixit quoque Deus : Producat terra animam viventem in genere suo, jumenta, et reptilia, et bestias terræ secundum species suas. Factumque est ita.

WLC ²⁴ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים תּוֹצֵ֨א הָאָ֜רֶץ נֶ֤פֶשׁ חַיָּה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ בְּהֵמָ֥ה וָרֶ֛מֶשׂ וְחַֽיְתוֹ־ אֶ֖רֶץ לְמִינָ֑הּ וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

KJV ²⁵ And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

S21 ²⁵ Dieu fit les animaux terrestres selon leur espèce, le bétail selon son espèce et tous les reptiles de la terre selon leur espèce. Dieu vit que c'était bon.

VULC ²⁵ Et fecit Deus bestias terræ juxta species suas, et jumenta, et omne reptile terræ in genere suo.
Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum,

WLC ²⁵ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִים֩ אֶת־ חַיַּ֨ת הָאָ֜רֶץ לְמִינָ֗הּ וְאֶת־ הַבְּהֵמָה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־ רֶ֥מֶשׂ הָֽאֲדָמָ֖ה לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־ טֽוֹב׃

KJV ²⁶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

S21 ²⁶ Puis Dieu dit: «Faisons l'homme à notre image, à notre ressemblance! Qu'il domine sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel, sur le bétail, sur toute la terre et sur tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre.»

VULC ²⁶ et ait : Faciamus hominem ad imaginem et similitudinem nostram : et præsit piscibus maris, et volatilibus cæli, et bestiis, universæque terræ, omnique reptili, quod movetur in terra.

WLC ²⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים נַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה אָדָ֛ם בְּצַלְמֵ֖נוּ כִּדְמוּתֵ֑נוּ וְיִרְדּוּ֩ בִדְגַ֨ת הַיָּ֜ם וּבְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם וּבַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּבְכָל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וּבְכָל־ הָרֶ֖מֶשׂ הָֽרֹמֵ֥שׂ עַל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ²⁷ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

S21 ²⁷ Dieu créa l'homme à son image, il le créa à l'image de Dieu. *Il créa l'homme et la femme. 

VULC ²⁷ Et creavit Deus hominem ad imaginem suam : ad imaginem Dei creavit illum, masculum et feminam creavit eos.

WLC ²⁷ וַיִּבְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ אֶת־ הָֽאָדָם֙ בְּצַלְמ֔וֹ בְּצֶ֥לֶם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בָּרָ֣א אֹת֑וֹ זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בָּרָ֥א אֹתָֽם׃

KJV ²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

S21 ²⁸ Dieu les bénit et leur dit: «Reproduisez-vous, devenez nombreux, remplissez la terre et soumettez-la! Dominez sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel et sur tout animal qui se déplace sur la terre!»

VULC ²⁸ Benedixitque illis Deus, et ait : Crescite et multiplicamini, et replete terram, et subjicite eam, et dominamini piscibus maris, et volatilibus cæli, et universis animantibus, quæ moventur super terram.

WLC ²⁸ וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹתָם֮ אֱלֹהִים֒ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לָהֶ֜ם אֱלֹהִ֗ים פְּר֥וּ וּרְב֛וּ וּמִלְא֥וּ אֶת־ הָאָ֖רֶץ וְכִבְשֻׁ֑הָ וּרְד֞וּ בִּדְגַ֤ת הַיָּם֙ וּבְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּבְכָל־ חַיָּ֖ה הָֽרֹמֶ֥שֶׂת עַל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

S21 ²⁹ Dieu dit aussi: «Je vous donne toute herbe à graine sur toute la surface de la terre, ainsi que tout arbre portant des fruits avec pépins ou noyau: ce sera votre nourriture.

VULC ²⁹ Dixitque Deus : Ecce dedi vobis omnem herbam afferentem semen super terram, et universa ligna quæ habent in semetipsis sementem generis sui, ut sint vobis in escam :

WLC ²⁹ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים הִנֵּה֩ נָתַ֨תִּי לָכֶ֜ם אֶת־ כָּל־ עֵ֣שֶׂב ׀ זֹרֵ֣עַ זֶ֗רַע אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־ פְּנֵ֣י כָל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֶת־ כָּל־ הָעֵ֛ץ אֲשֶׁר־ בּ֥וֹ פְרִי־ עֵ֖ץ זֹרֵ֣עַ זָ֑רַע לָכֶ֥ם יִֽהְיֶ֖ה לְאָכְלָֽה׃

KJV ³⁰ And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

S21 ³⁰ A tout animal de la terre, à tout oiseau du ciel et à tout ce qui se déplace sur la terre, à ce qui est animé de vie, je donne toute herbe verte pour nourriture.» Et cela se passa ainsi.

VULC ³⁰ et cunctis animantibus terræ, omnique volucri cæli, et universis quæ moventur in terra, et in quibus est anima vivens, ut habeant ad vescendum. Et factum est ita.

WLC ³⁰ וּֽלְכָל־ חַיַּ֣ת הָ֠אָרֶץ וּלְכָל־ ע֨וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם וּלְכֹ֣ל ׀ רוֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל־ הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־ בּוֹ֙ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֔ה אֶת־ כָּל־ יֶ֥רֶק עֵ֖שֶׂב לְאָכְלָ֑ה וַֽיְהִי־ כֵֽן׃

S21 ³¹ Dieu regarda tout ce qu'il avait fait, et il constata que c'était très bon. Il y eut un soir et il y eut un matin. Ce fut le sixième jour.
