KJV ¹ And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

KJV ² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

WLC ² וַֽיְהִ֖י בְּנָסְעָ֣ם מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַֽיִּמְצְא֥וּ בִקְעָ֛ה בְּאֶ֥רֶץ שִׁנְעָ֖ר וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ שָֽׁם׃

KJV ³ And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

WLC ³ וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־ רֵעֵ֗הוּ הָ֚בָה נִלְבְּנָ֣ה לְבֵנִ֔ים וְנִשְׂרְפָ֖ה לִשְׂרֵפָ֑ה וַתְּהִ֨י לָהֶ֤ם הַלְּבֵנָה֙ לְאָ֔בֶן וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ר הָיָ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם לַחֹֽמֶר׃

KJV ⁴ And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

WLC ⁴ וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ הָ֣בָה ׀ נִבְנֶה־ לָּ֣נוּ עִ֗יר וּמִגְדָּל֙ וְרֹאשׁ֣וֹ בַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְנַֽעֲשֶׂה־ לָּ֖נוּ שֵׁ֑ם פֶּן־ נָפ֖וּץ עַל־ פְּנֵ֥י כָל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ⁵ And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

WLC ⁵ וַיֵּ֣רֶד יְהוָ֔ה לִרְאֹ֥ת אֶת־ הָעִ֖יר וְאֶת־ הַמִּגְדָּ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנ֖וּ בְּנֵ֥י הָאָדָֽם׃

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

WLC ⁶ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה הֵ֣ן עַ֤ם אֶחָד֙ וְשָׂפָ֤ה אַחַת֙ לְכֻלָּ֔ם וְזֶ֖ה הַחִלָּ֣ם לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת וְעַתָּה֙ לֹֽא־ יִבָּצֵ֣ר מֵהֶ֔ם כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָזְמ֖וּ לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

KJV ⁷ Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

WLC ⁷ הָ֚בָה נֵֽרְדָ֔ה וְנָבְלָ֥ה שָׁ֖ם שְׂפָתָ֑ם אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמְע֔וּ אִ֖ישׁ שְׂפַ֥ת רֵעֵֽהוּ׃

KJV ⁸ So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

WLC ⁸ וַיָּ֨פֶץ יְהוָ֥ה אֹתָ֛ם מִשָּׁ֖ם עַל־ פְּנֵ֣י כָל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וַֽיַּחְדְּל֖וּ לִבְנֹ֥ת הָעִֽיר׃

KJV ⁹ Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

WLC ⁹ עַל־ כֵּ֞ן קָרָ֤א שְׁמָהּ֙ בָּבֶ֔ל כִּי־ שָׁ֛ם בָּלַ֥ל יְהוָ֖ה שְׂפַ֣ת כָּל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וּמִשָּׁם֙ הֱפִיצָ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה עַל־ פְּנֵ֖י כָּל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁰ These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

WLC ¹⁰ אֵ֚לֶּה תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת שֵׁ֔ם שֵׁ֚ם בֶּן־ מְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֔ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֑ד שְׁנָתַ֖יִם אַחַ֥ר הַמַּבּֽוּל׃

KJV ¹¹ And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ¹¹ וַֽיְחִי־ שֵׁ֗ם אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֔ד חֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹² And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

WLC ¹² וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁ֣ד חַ֔י חָמֵ֥שׁ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ שָֽׁלַח׃

KJV ¹³ And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ¹³ וַֽיְחִ֣י אַרְפַּכְשַׁ֗ד אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ שֶׁ֔לַח שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁴ And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

WLC ¹⁴ וְשֶׁ֥לַח חַ֖י שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ עֵֽבֶר׃

KJV ¹⁵ And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ¹⁵ וַֽיְחִי־ שֶׁ֗לַח אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ עֵ֔בֶר שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁶ And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:

WLC ¹⁶ וַֽיְחִי־ עֵ֕בֶר אַרְבַּ֥ע וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ פָּֽלֶג׃

KJV ¹⁷ And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ¹⁷ וַֽיְחִי־ עֵ֗בֶר אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ פֶּ֔לֶג שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹⁸ And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

WLC ¹⁸ וַֽיְחִי־ פֶ֖לֶג שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ רְעֽוּ׃

KJV ¹⁹ And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ¹⁹ וַֽיְחִי־ פֶ֗לֶג אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ רְע֔וּ תֵּ֥שַׁע שָׁנִ֖ים וּמָאתַ֣יִם שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ²⁰ And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:

WLC ²⁰ וַיְחִ֣י רְע֔וּ שְׁתַּ֥יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ שְׂרֽוּג׃

KJV ²¹ And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ²¹ וַיְחִ֣י רְע֗וּ אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ שְׂר֔וּג שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִ֖ים וּמָאתַ֣יִם שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ²² And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

WLC ²² וַיְחִ֥י שְׂר֖וּג שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ נָחֽוֹר׃

KJV ²³ And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ²³ וַיְחִ֣י שְׂר֗וּג אַחֲרֵ֛י הוֹלִיד֥וֹ אֶת־ נָח֖וֹר מָאתַ֣יִם שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ²⁴ And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

WLC ²⁴ וַיְחִ֣י נָח֔וֹר תֵּ֥שַׁע וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־ תָּֽרַח׃

KJV ²⁵ And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

WLC ²⁵ וַיְחִ֣י נָח֗וֹר אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־ תֶּ֔רַח תְּשַֽׁע־ עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

KJV ²⁶ And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

WLC ²⁶ וַֽיְחִי־ תֶ֖רַח שִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֙וֹלֶד֙ אֶת־ אַבְרָ֔ם אֶת־ נָח֖וֹר וְאֶת־ הָרָֽן׃

KJV ²⁷ Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

WLC ²⁷ וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת תֶּ֔רַח תֶּ֚רַח הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־ אַבְרָ֔ם אֶת־ נָח֖וֹר וְאֶת־ הָרָ֑ן וְהָרָ֖ן הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־ לֽוֹט׃

KJV ²⁸ And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

WLC ²⁸ וַיָּ֣מָת הָרָ֔ן עַל־ פְּנֵ֖י תֶּ֣רַח אָבִ֑יו בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מוֹלַדְתּ֖וֹ בְּא֥וּר כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

KJV ²⁹ And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

WLC ²⁹ וַיִּקַּ֨ח אַבְרָ֧ם וְנָח֛וֹר לָהֶ֖ם נָשִׁ֑ים שֵׁ֤ם אֵֽשֶׁת־ אַבְרָם֙ שָׂרָ֔י וְשֵׁ֤ם אֵֽשֶׁת־ נָחוֹר֙ מִלְכָּ֔ה בַּת־ הָרָ֥ן אֲבִֽי־ מִלְכָּ֖ה וַֽאֲבִ֥י יִסְכָּֽה׃

KJV ³⁰ But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

WLC ³⁰ וַתְּהִ֥י שָׂרַ֖י עֲקָרָ֑ה אֵ֥ין לָ֖הּ וָלָֽד׃

KJV ³¹ And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

WLC ³¹ וַיִּקַּ֨ח תֶּ֜רַח אֶת־ אַבְרָ֣ם בְּנ֗וֹ וְאֶת־ ל֤וֹט בֶּן־ הָרָן֙ בֶּן־ בְּנ֔וֹ וְאֵת֙ שָׂרַ֣י כַּלָּת֔וֹ אֵ֖שֶׁת אַבְרָ֣ם בְּנ֑וֹ וַיֵּצְא֨וּ אִתָּ֜ם מֵא֣וּר כַּשְׂדִּ֗ים לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ אַ֣רְצָה כְּנַ֔עַן וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ עַד־ חָרָ֖ן וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ שָֽׁם׃

KJV ³² And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.

WLC ³² וַיִּהְי֣וּ יְמֵי־ תֶ֔רַח חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וּמָאתַ֣יִם שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּ֥מָת תֶּ֖רַח בְּחָרָֽן׃
