DRB ¹ Et Abram monta d'Égypte vers le midi*, lui, et sa femme, et tout ce qui était à lui, et Lot avec lui.

KJV ¹ And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.

KJV ² And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

DRB ³ Et il s'en alla, en ses traites, du midi jusqu'à Béthel, jusqu'au lieu où était sa tente au commencement, entre Béthel et Aï,

KJV ³ And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;

MAR ³ Et il s'en retourna en suivant la route qu'il avait tenue du Midi à Béthel, jusqu'au lieu où il avait dressé ses tentes au commencement, entre Béthel et Haï,

DRB ⁴ au lieu où était l'autel qu'il y avait fait auparavant ; et Abram invoqua là le nom de l'Éternel.

KJV ⁴ Unto the place of the altar, which he had make there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

MAR ⁴ Au même lieu où était l'autel qu'il y avait bâti au commencement, et Abram invoqua là le nom de l'Eternel.

DRB ⁵ Et Lot aussi, qui allait avec Abram, avait du menu et du gros bétail, et des tentes.

KJV ⁵ And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

MAR ⁵ Lot aussi qui marchait avec Abram, avait des brebis, des boeufs, et des tentes.

DRB ⁶ Et le pays ne pouvait les porter pour qu'ils habitassent ensemble ; car leur bien était grand, et ils ne pouvaient habiter ensemble.

KJV ⁶ And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

MAR ⁶ Et la terre ne les pouvait porter pour demeurer ensemble ; car leur bien était si grand, qu'ils ne pouvaient demeurer l'un avec l'autre.

DRB ⁷ Et il y eut querelle entre les bergers des troupeaux d'Abram et les bergers des troupeaux de Lot. Et le Cananéen et le Phérézien habitaient alors dans le pays.

KJV ⁷ And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

MAR ⁷ De sorte qu'il y eut querelle entre les pasteurs du bétail d'Abram, et les pasteurs du bétail de Lot ; or en ce temps-là les Cananéens et les Phérésiens demeuraient au pays.

DRB ⁸ Et Abram dit à Lot : Qu'il n'y ait point, je te prie, de contestation entre moi et toi, et entre mes bergers et tes bergers, car nous sommes frères*.

KJV ⁸ And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

MAR ⁸ Et Abram dit à Lot : Je te prie qu'il n'y ait point de dispute entre moi et toi, ni entre mes pasteurs et les tiens ; car nous sommes frères.

DRB ⁹ Tout le pays n'est-il pas devant toi ? Sépare-toi, je te prie, d'avec moi. Si [tu prends] la gauche, j'irai à droite ; et si [tu prends] la droite, j'irai à gauche.

KJV ⁹ Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

MAR ⁹ Tout le pays n'est-il pas à ta disposition ? sépare-toi, je te prie, d'avec moi. Si [tu choisis] la gauche, je prendrai la droite ; et si [tu prends] la droite, je m'en irai à la gauche.

DRB ¹⁰ Et Lot leva ses yeux et vit toute la plaine du Jourdain, qui était arrosée partout, avant que l'Éternel détruisît Sodome et Gomorrhe, comme le jardin de l'Éternel, comme le pays d'Égypte, quand tu viens à Tsoar.

KJV ¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

MAR ¹⁰ Et Lot élevant ses yeux, vit toute la plaine du Jourdain qui, avant que l'Eternel eût détruit Sodome et Gomorrhe, était arrosée partout, jusqu'à ce qu'on vienne à Tsohar, comme le jardin de l'Eternel, [et] comme le pays d'Egypte.

DRB ¹¹ Et Lot choisit pour lui toute la plaine du Jourdain ; et Lot partit vers l'orient. Et ils se séparèrent l'un de l'autre :

KJV ¹¹ Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

MAR ¹¹ Et Lot choisit pour lui toute la plaine du Jourdain, et alla du coté d'Orient ; ainsi ils se séparèrent l'un de l'autre.

DRB ¹² Abram habita dans le pays de Canaan, et Lot habita dans les villes de la plaine, et dressa ses tentes jusqu'à Sodome.

KJV ¹² Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

MAR ¹² Abram demeura au pays de Canaan, et Lot demeura dans les villes de la plaine, et dressa ses tentes jusqu'à Sodome.

DRB ¹⁴ Et l'Éternel dit à Abram, après que Lot se fut séparé de lui : Lève tes yeux, et regarde, du lieu où tu es, vers le nord, et vers le midi, et vers l'orient, et vers l'occident ;

KJV ¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

MAR ¹⁴ Et l'Eternel dit à Abram, après que Lot se fut séparé de lui : Lève maintenant tes yeux, et regarde du lieu où tu es, vers le Septentrion, le Midi, l'Orient, et l'Occident.

DRB ¹⁵ car tout le pays que tu vois, je te le donnerai, et à ta semence, pour toujours ;

KJV ¹⁵ For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

MAR ¹⁵ Car je te donnerai, et à ta postérité pour jamais, tout le pays que tu vois.

DRB ¹⁶ et je ferai que ta semence sera comme la poussière de la terre ; en sorte que, si quelqu'un peut compter la poussière de la terre, ta semence aussi sera comptée.

KJV ¹⁶ And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

MAR ¹⁶ Et je ferai que ta postérité sera comme la poussière de la terre ; que si quelqu'un peut compter la poussière de la terre, il comptera aussi ta postérité.

DRB ¹⁷ Lève-toi, et promène-toi dans le pays en long et en large, car je te le donnerai.

KJV ¹⁷ Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

DRB ¹⁸ Et Abram leva ses tentes, et vint et habita auprès des chênes de Mamré, qui sont à Hébron ; et il bâtit là un autel à l'Éternel.

KJV ¹⁸ Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

MAR ¹⁸ Abram donc ayant transporté ses tentes, alla demeurer dans les plaines de Mamré, qui est en Hébron, et il bâtit là un autel à l'Eternel.
