BAN ¹ Et les cieux et la terre et toute leur armée furent achevés.

KJV ¹ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

WLC ¹ וַיְכֻלּ֛וּ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ וְכָל־ צְבָאָֽם׃

BAN ² Et Dieu acheva au septième jour toute l'oeuvre qu'il avait faite. Et il cessa au septième jour de travailler à toute l'oeuvre qu'il avait faite.

KJV ² And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

WLC ² וַיְכַ֤ל אֱלֹהִים֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה וַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י מִכָּל־ מְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָֽׂה׃

BAN ³ Et Dieu bénit le septième jour et le sanctifia, parce qu'en ce jour-là il avait cessé de travailler à toute l'oeuvre qu'il avait créée pour la faire.

KJV ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

WLC ³ וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־ י֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁ אֹת֑וֹ כִּ֣י ב֤וֹ שָׁבַת֙ מִכָּל־ מְלַאכְתּ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁר־ בָּרָ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

BAN ⁴ C'est là ce qui est procédé des cieux et de la terre quand ils furent créés, au jour où l'Eternel Dieu fit une terre et des cieux.

KJV ⁴ These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

WLC ⁴ אֵ֣לֶּה תוֹלְד֧וֹת הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ בְּהִבָּֽרְאָ֑ם בְּי֗וֹם עֲשׂ֛וֹת יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶ֥רֶץ וְשָׁמָֽיִם׃

BAN ⁵ Il n'y avait encore sur la terre aucun arbrisseau des champs, et aucune herbe des champs n'avait encore germé ; car l'Eternel Dieu n'avait pas fait pleuvoir sur la terre et il n'y avait pas d'homme pour cultiver le sol ;

KJV ⁵ And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

WLC ⁵ וְכֹ֣ל ׀ שִׂ֣יחַ הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה טֶ֚רֶם יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֔רֶץ וְכָל־ עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה טֶ֣רֶם יִצְמָ֑ח כִּי֩ לֹ֨א הִמְטִ֜יר יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאָדָ֣ם אַ֔יִן לַֽעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת־ הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

BAN ⁶ et une vapeur montait de la terre et arrosait toute la face du sol.

KJV ⁶ But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

WLC ⁶ וְאֵ֖ד יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה מִן־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה אֶֽת־ כָּל־ פְּנֵֽי־ הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

BAN ⁷ Et l'Eternel Dieu forma l'homme de la poussière du sol, et il souffla dans ses narines un souffle de vie, et l'homme devint un être animé.

KJV ⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

WLC ⁷ וַיִּיצֶר֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת־ הָֽאָדָ֗ם עָפָר֙ מִן־ הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה וַיִּפַּ֥ח בְּאַפָּ֖יו נִשְׁמַ֣ת חַיִּ֑ים וַֽיְהִ֥י הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְנֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּֽה׃

BAN ⁸ Et l'Eternel Dieu planta un arbre en Eden, à l'orient, et il mit là l'homme qu'il avait formé.

KJV ⁸ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

WLC ⁸ וַיִּטַּ֞ע יְהוָ֧ה אֱלֹהִ֛ים גַּן־ בְעֵ֖דֶן מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַיָּ֣שֶׂם שָׁ֔ם אֶת־ הָֽאָדָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָֽר׃

BAN ⁹ Et l'Eternel Dieu fit pousser du sol tout arbre agréable à voir et bon à manger, et l'arbre de vie au milieu du jardin et l'arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal.

KJV ⁹ And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

WLC ⁹ וַיַּצְמַ֞ח יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ מִן־ הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה כָּל־ עֵ֛ץ נֶחְמָ֥ד לְמַרְאֶ֖ה וְט֣וֹב לְמַאֲכָ֑ל וְעֵ֤ץ הַֽחַיִּים֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַגָּ֔ן וְעֵ֕ץ הַדַּ֖עַת ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et un fleuve sortait d'Eden pour arroser le jardin, et de là il se partageait et devenait quatre fleuves.

KJV ¹⁰ And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

WLC ¹⁰ וְנָהָרּ֙ יֹצֵ֣א מֵעֵ֔דֶן לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת אֶת־ הַגָּ֑ן וּמִשָּׁם֙ יִפָּרֵ֔ד וְהָיָ֖ה לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה רָאשִֽׁים׃

BAN ¹¹ Le nom de l'un est Pischon ; c'est celui qui entoure toute la terre de Havila où est l'or

KJV ¹¹ The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

WLC ¹¹ שֵׁ֥ם הָֽאֶחָ֖ד פִּישׁ֑וֹן ה֣וּא הַסֹּבֵ֗ב אֵ֚ת כָּל־ אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽחֲוִילָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֖ם הַזָּהָֽב׃

BAN ¹² Et l'or de cette terre-là est bon ; c'est là qu'est le bdellium et la pierre de Schoham.

KJV ¹² And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

WLC ¹² וּֽזֲהַ֛ב הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִ֖וא ט֑וֹב שָׁ֥ם הַבְּדֹ֖לַח וְאֶ֥בֶן הַשֹּֽׁהַם׃

BAN ¹³ Et le nom du second fleuve est Guihon ; c'est celui qui entoure toute la terre de Cusch.

KJV ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

WLC ¹³ וְשֵֽׁם־ הַנָּהָ֥ר הַשֵּׁנִ֖י גִּיח֑וֹן ה֣וּא הַסּוֹבֵ֔ב אֵ֖ת כָּל־ אֶ֥רֶץ כּֽוּשׁ׃

BAN ¹⁴ Et le nom du troisième fleuve est Hiddékel, qui coule à l'orient d'Assur. Et le quatrième fleuve est l'Euphrate.

KJV ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

WLC ¹⁴ וְשֵׁ֨ם הַנָּהָ֤ר הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ חִדֶּ֔קֶל ה֥וּא הַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְ קִדְמַ֣ת אַשּׁ֑וּר וְהַנָּהָ֥ר הָֽרְבִיעִ֖י ה֥וּא פְרָֽת׃

BAN ¹⁵ Et l'Eternel Dieu prit l'homme et le plaça dans le jardin d'Eden pour le cultiver et pour le garder.

KJV ¹⁵ And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּקַּ֛ח יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־ הָֽאָדָ֑ם וַיַּנִּחֵ֣הוּ בְגַן־ עֵ֔דֶן לְעָבְדָ֖הּ וּלְשָׁמְרָֽהּ׃

BAN ¹⁶ Et l'Eternel Dieu donna à l'homme cet ordre : Tu mangeras librement de tout arbre du jardin ;

KJV ¹⁶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

WLC ¹⁶ וַיְצַו֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים עַל־ הָֽאָדָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר מִכֹּ֥ל עֵֽץ־ הַגָּ֖ן אָכֹ֥ל תֹּאכֵֽל׃

BAN ¹⁷ mais de l'arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal, tu n'en mangeras pas, car au jour où tu en mangeras, tu mourras certainement.

KJV ¹⁷ But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

WLC ¹⁷ וּמֵעֵ֗ץ הַדַּ֙עַת֙ ט֣וֹב וָרָ֔ע לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל מִמֶּ֑נּוּ כִּ֗י בְּי֛וֹם אֲכָלְךָ֥ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ מ֥וֹת תָּמֽוּת׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et l'Eternel Dieu dit : Il n'est pas bon que l'homme soit seul ; je lui ferai une aide qui soit sa pareille.

KJV ¹⁸ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹא־ ט֛וֹב הֱי֥וֹת הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְבַדּ֑וֹ אֶֽעֱשֶׂהּ־ לּ֥וֹ עֵ֖זֶר כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁹ Et l'Eternel Dieu forma du sol tout animal des champs et tout oiseau des cieux, et les fit venir vers l'homme pour voir comment il les appellerait, et pour que, selon que l'homme appellerait un être vivant, ce fût son nom.

KJV ¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּצֶר֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֜ים מִן־ הָֽאֲדָמָ֗ה כָּל־ חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ וְאֵת֙ כָּל־ ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיָּבֵא֙ אֶל־ הָ֣אָדָ֔ם לִרְא֖וֹת מַה־ יִּקְרָא־ ל֑וֹ וְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִקְרָא־ ל֧וֹ הָֽאָדָ֛ם נֶ֥פֶשׁ חַיָּ֖ה ה֥וּא שְׁמֽוֹ׃

BAN ²⁰ Et l'homme donna des noms à tous les bestiaux et aux oiseaux des cieux et à toutes les bêtes sauvages ; et il ne trouva pas pour l'homme une aide qui fût sa pareille.

KJV ²⁰ And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

WLC ²⁰ וַיִּקְרָ֨א הָֽאָדָ֜ם שֵׁמ֗וֹת לְכָל־ הַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּלְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּלְכֹ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וּלְאָדָ֕ם לֹֽא־ מָצָ֥א עֵ֖זֶר כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃

BAN ²¹ Et l'Eternel Dieu fil tomber un profond assoupissement sur l'homme, qui s'endormit, et il prit une de ses côtes et referma la chair à sa place,

KJV ²¹ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

WLC ²¹ וַיַּפֵּל֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ תַּרְדֵּמָ֛ה עַל־ הָאָדָ֖ם וַיִּישָׁ֑ן וַיִּקַּ֗ח אַחַת֙ מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר בָּשָׂ֖ר תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃

BAN ²² et de la côte qu'il avait prise de l'homme, l'Eternel Dieu forma une femme, et il l'amena vers l'homme.

KJV ²² And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

WLC ²² וַיִּבֶן֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ אֶֽת־ הַצֵּלָ֛ע אֲשֶׁר־ לָקַ֥ח מִן־ הָֽאָדָ֖ם לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיְבִאֶ֖הָ אֶל־ הָֽאָדָֽם׃

BAN ²³ Et l'homme dit : Celle-ci cette fois est os de mes os et chair de ma chair ; celle-ci sera appelée femme parce qu'elle a été prise de l'homme.

KJV ²³ And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

WLC ²³ וַיֹּאמֶר֮ הָֽאָדָם֒ זֹ֣את הַפַּ֗עַם עֶ֚צֶם מֵֽעֲצָמַ֔י וּבָשָׂ֖ר מִבְּשָׂרִ֑י לְזֹאת֙ יִקָּרֵ֣א אִשָּׁ֔ה כִּ֥י מֵאִ֖ישׁ לֻֽקֳחָה־ זֹּֽאת׃

BAN ²⁴ C'est pourquoi l'homme laissera son père et sa mère et il s'attachera à sa femme, et ils deviendront une seule chair.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

WLC ²⁴ עַל־ כֵּן֙ יַֽעֲזָב־ אִ֔ישׁ אֶת־ אָבִ֖יו וְאֶת־ אִמּ֑וֹ וְדָבַ֣ק בְּאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ וְהָי֖וּ לְבָשָׂ֥ר אֶחָֽד׃

BAN ²⁵ Et l'homme et sa femme étaient tous deux nus, sans en avoir honte.

KJV ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

WLC ²⁵ וַיִּֽהְי֤וּ שְׁנֵיהֶם֙ עֲרוּמִּ֔ים הָֽאָדָ֖ם וְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֖א יִתְבֹּשָֽׁשׁוּ׃
