KJV ⁸ And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

S21 ⁸ L'enfant grandit et fut sevré. Abraham fit un grand festin le jour où Isaac fut sevré.

KJV ⁹ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

S21 ⁹ Sara vit rire le fils que l'Egyptienne Agar avait donné à Abraham.

KJV ¹⁰ Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

S21 ¹⁰ Alors elle dit à Abraham: *«Chasse cette esclave et son fils, car le fils de cette esclave n'héritera pas avec mon fils, avec Isaac.»

KJV ¹¹ And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.

S21 ¹¹ Cette parole déplut beaucoup à Abraham parce que c'était son fils.

KJV ¹² And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

S21 ¹² Cependant, Dieu dit à Abraham: «Que cela ne te déplaise pas à cause de l'enfant et de ton esclave. Quoi que te dise Sara, écoute-la, car *c'est par Isaac qu'une descendance te sera assurée.

KJV ¹³ And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

S21 ¹³ Je ferai aussi une nation du fils de l'esclave, car il est ta descendance.»

KJV ¹⁴ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

S21 ¹⁴ Abraham se leva de bon matin. Il prit du pain et une outre d'eau qu'il donna à Agar et plaça sur son épaule. Il lui remit aussi l'enfant et la renvoya. Elle s'en alla et se perdit dans le désert de Beer-Shéba.

KJV ¹⁵ And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

S21 ¹⁵ Quand l'eau de l'outre fut épuisée, elle laissa l'enfant sous un des arbrisseaux

KJV ¹⁶ And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

S21 ¹⁶ et alla s'asseoir vis-à-vis, à la distance d'une portée d'arc, car elle se disait: «Je ne veux pas voir mourir mon enfant!» Elle s'assit donc vis-à-vis de lui et se mit à pleurer tout haut.

KJV ¹⁷ And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

S21 ¹⁷ Dieu entendit les cris de l'enfant. L'ange de Dieu appela Agar depuis le ciel et lui dit: «Qu'as-tu, Agar? N'aie pas peur, car Dieu a entendu les cris de l'enfant là où il se trouve.

KJV ¹⁸ Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

S21 ¹⁸ Lève-toi, relève l'enfant et tiens-le par la main, car je ferai de lui une grande nation.»

KJV ¹⁹ And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

S21 ¹⁹ Dieu lui ouvrit les yeux et elle vit un puits. Elle alla remplir l'outre d'eau et donna à boire à l'enfant.

KJV ²⁰ And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

S21 ²⁰ Dieu fut avec l'enfant. Celui-ci grandit, habita dans le désert et devint tireur à l'arc.

KJV ²¹ And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

S21 ²¹ Il s'installa dans le désert de Paran et sa mère prit pour lui une femme égyptienne.
