KJV ⁸ And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

KJV ⁹ And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

VULC ⁹ Cumque vidisset Sara filium Agar Ægyptiæ ludentem cum Isaac filio suo, dixit ad Abraham :

WLC ⁹ וַתֵּ֨רֶא שָׂרָ֜ה אֶֽת־ בֶּן־ הָגָ֧ר הַמִּצְרִ֛ית אֲשֶׁר־ יָלְדָ֥ה לְאַבְרָהָ֖ם מְצַחֵֽק׃

KJV ¹⁰ Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

VULC ¹⁰ Ejice ancillam hanc, et filium ejus : non enim erit hæres filius ancillæ cum filio meo Isaac.

WLC ¹⁰ וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְאַבְרָהָ֔ם גָּרֵ֛שׁ הָאָמָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את וְאֶת־ בְּנָ֑הּ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יִירַשׁ֙ בֶּן־ הָאָמָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את עִם־ בְּנִ֖י עִם־ יִצְחָֽק׃

KJV ¹¹ And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.

VULC ¹¹ Dure accepit hoc Abraham pro filio suo.

WLC ¹¹ וַיֵּ֧רַע הַדָּבָ֛ר מְאֹ֖ד בְּעֵינֵ֣י אַבְרָהָ֑ם עַ֖ל אוֹדֹ֥ת בְּנֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹² And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

VULC ¹² Cui dixit Deus : Non tibi videatur asperum super puero, et super ancilla tua : omnia quæ dixerit tibi Sara, audi vocem ejus : quia in Isaac vocabitur tibi semen.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶל־ אַבְרָהָ֗ם אַל־ יֵרַ֤ע בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ עַל־ הַנַּ֣עַר וְעַל־ אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ כֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר תֹּאמַ֥ר אֵלֶ֛יךָ שָׂרָ֖ה שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלָ֑הּ כִּ֣י בְיִצְחָ֔ק יִקָּרֵ֥א לְךָ֖ זָֽרַע׃

KJV ¹³ And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

VULC ¹³ Sed et filium ancillæ faciam in gentem magnam, quia semen tuum est.

WLC ¹³ וְגַ֥ם אֶת־ בֶּן־ הָאָמָ֖ה לְג֣וֹי אֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ כִּ֥י זַרְעֲךָ֖ הֽוּא׃

KJV ¹⁴ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

VULC ¹⁴ Surrexit itaque Abraham mane, et tollens panem et utrem aquæ, imposuit scapulæ ejus, tradiditque puerum, et dimisit eam. Quæ cum abiisset, errabat in solitudine Bersabee.

KJV ¹⁵ And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

VULC ¹⁵ Cumque consumpta esset aqua in utre, abjecit puerum subter unam arborum, quæ ibi erant.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיִּכְל֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם מִן־ הַחֵ֑מֶת וַתַּשְׁלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־ הַיֶּ֔לֶד תַּ֖חַת אַחַ֥ד הַשִּׂיחִֽם׃

KJV ¹⁶ And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

KJV ¹⁷ And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

VULC ¹⁷ Exaudivit autem Deus vocem pueri : vocavitque angelus Dei Agar de cælo, dicens : Quid agis Agar ? noli timere : exaudivit enim Deus vocem pueri de loco in quo est.

KJV ¹⁸ Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

KJV ¹⁹ And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

VULC ¹⁹ Aperuitque oculos ejus Deus : quæ videns puteum aquæ, abiit, et implevit utrem, deditque puero bibere.

WLC ¹⁹ וַיִּפְקַ֤ח אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶת־ עֵינֶ֔יהָ וַתֵּ֖רֶא בְּאֵ֣ר מָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ וַתְּמַלֵּ֤א אֶת־ הַחֵ֙מֶת֙ מַ֔יִם וַתַּ֖שְׁקְ אֶת־ הַנָּֽעַר׃

KJV ²⁰ And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

VULC ²⁰ Et fuit cum eo : qui crevit, et moratus est in solitudine, factusque est juvenis sagittarius.

WLC ²⁰ וַיְהִ֧י אֱלֹהִ֛ים אֶת־ הַנַּ֖עַר וַיִּגְדָּ֑ל וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר וַיְהִ֖י רֹבֶ֥ה קַשָּֽׁת׃

KJV ²¹ And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

VULC ²¹ Habitavitque in deserto Pharan, et accepit illi mater sua uxorem de terra Ægypti.

WLC ²¹ וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּמִדְבַּ֣ר פָּארָ֑ן וַתִּֽקַּֽח־ ל֥וֹ אִמּ֛וֹ אִשָּׁ֖ה מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
