Genèse 3KJV 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
VULC 1 Sed et serpens erat callidior cunctis animantibus terræ quæ fecerat Dominus Deus. Qui dixit ad mulierem : Cur præcepit vobis Deus ut non comederetis de omni ligno paradisi ?

KJV 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
VULC 2 Cui respondit mulier : De fructu lignorum, quæ sunt in paradiso, vescimur :
WLC 2 וַתֹּ֥אמֶר הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה אֶל־ הַנָּחָ֑שׁ מִפְּרִ֥י עֵֽץ־ הַגָּ֖ן נֹאכֵֽל׃
KJV 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
VULC 3 de fructu vero ligni quod est in medio paradisi, præcepit nobis Deus ne comederemus, et ne tangeremus illud, ne forte moriamur.

KJV 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
VULC 4 Dixit autem serpens ad mulierem : Nequaquam morte moriemini.
WLC 4 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַנָּחָ֖שׁ אֶל־ הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה לֹֽא־ מ֖וֹת תְּמֻתֽוּן׃
KJV 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
VULC 5 Scit enim Deus quod in quocumque die comederitis ex eo, aperientur oculi vestri, et eritis sicut dii, scientes bonum et malum.
WLC 5 כִּ֚י יֹדֵ֣עַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים כִּ֗י בְּיוֹם֙ אֲכָלְכֶ֣ם מִמֶּ֔נּוּ וְנִפְקְח֖וּ עֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם וִהְיִיתֶם֙ כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים יֹדְעֵ֖י ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃
KJV 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
VULC 6 Vidit igitur mulier quod bonum esset lignum ad vescendum, et pulchrum oculis, aspectuque delectabile : et tulit de fructu illius, et comedit : deditque viro suo, qui comedit.

KJV 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
VULC 7 Et aperti sunt oculi amborum ; cumque cognovissent se esse nudos, consuerunt folia ficus, et fecerunt sibi perizomata.
WLC 7 וַתִּפָּקַ֙חְנָה֙ עֵינֵ֣י שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם וַיֵּ֣דְע֔וּ כִּ֥י עֵֽירֻמִּ֖ם הֵ֑ם וַֽיִּתְפְּרוּ֙ עֲלֵ֣ה תְאֵנָ֔ה וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם חֲגֹרֹֽת׃
KJV 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
VULC 8 Et cum audissent vocem Domini Dei deambulantis in paradiso ad auram post meridiem, abscondit se Adam et uxor ejus a facie Domini Dei in medio ligni paradisi.

KJV 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
VULC 9 Vocavitque Dominus Deus Adam, et dixit ei : Ubi es ?
WLC 9 וַיִּקְרָ֛א יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־ הָֽאָדָ֑ם וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ אַיֶּֽכָּה׃
KJV 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
VULC 10 Qui ait : Vocem tuam audivi in paradiso, et timui, eo quod nudus essem, et abscondi me.
WLC 10 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אֶת־ קֹלְךָ֥ שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי בַּגָּ֑ן וָאִירָ֛א כִּֽי־ עֵירֹ֥ם אָנֹ֖כִי וָאֵחָבֵֽא׃
KJV 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
VULC 11 Cui dixit : Quis enim indicavit tibi quod nudus esses, nisi quod ex ligno de quo præceperam tibi ne comederes, comedisti ?
WLC 11 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מִ֚י הִגִּ֣יד לְךָ֔ כִּ֥י עֵירֹ֖ם אָ֑תָּה הֲמִן־ הָעֵ֗ץ אֲשֶׁ֧ר צִוִּיתִ֛יךָ לְבִלְתִּ֥י אֲכָל־ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ אָכָֽלְתָּ׃
KJV 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
VULC 12 Dixitque Adam : Mulier, quam dedisti mihi sociam, dedit mihi de ligno, et comedi.
WLC 12 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר הָֽאָדָ֑ם הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תָּה עִמָּדִ֔י הִ֛וא נָֽתְנָה־ לִּ֥י מִן־ הָעֵ֖ץ וָאֹכֵֽל׃
KJV 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
VULC 13 Et dixit Dominus Deus ad mulierem : Quare hoc fecisti ? Quæ respondit : Serpens decepit me, et comedi.

KJV 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
VULC 14 Et ait Dominus Deus ad serpentem : [Quia fecisti hoc,
maledictus es inter omnia animantia, et bestias terræ :
super pectus tuum gradieris, et terram comedes cunctis diebus vitæ tuæ.
WLC 14 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֥ים ׀ אֶֽל־ הַנָּחָשׁ֮ כִּ֣י עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּאת֒ אָר֤וּר אַתָּה֙ מִכָּל־ הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה וּמִכֹּ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה עַל־ גְּחֹנְךָ֣ תֵלֵ֔ךְ וְעָפָ֥ר תֹּאכַ֖ל כָּל־ יְמֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃
KJV 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
VULC 15 Inimicitias ponam inter te et mulierem,
et semen tuum et semen illius :
ipsa conteret caput tuum,
et tu insidiaberis calcaneo ejus.]

KJV 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
VULC 16 Mulieri quoque dixit : Multiplicabo ærumnas tuas, et conceptus tuos : in dolore paries filios, et sub viri potestate eris, et ipse dominabitur tui.

KJV 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
VULC 17 Adæ vero dixit : Quia audisti vocem uxoris tuæ, et comedisti de ligno, ex quo præceperam tibi ne comederes, maledicta terra in opere tuo : in laboribus comedes ex ea cunctis diebus vitæ tuæ.

KJV 20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

KJV 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

KJV 22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
VULC 22 et ait : Ecce Adam quasi unus ex nobis factus est, sciens bonum et malum : nunc ergo ne forte mittat manum suam, et sumat etiam de ligno vitæ, et comedat, et vivat in æternum.

KJV 23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
VULC 23 Et emisit eum Dominus Deus de paradiso voluptatis, ut operaretur terram de qua sumptus est.
WLC 23 וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֛הוּ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים מִגַּן־ עֵ֑דֶן לַֽעֲבֹד֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֻקַּ֖ח מִשָּֽׁם׃
KJV 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
