BAN ¹ Joseph fut emmené en Egypte, et Potiphar, officier de Pharaon, chef des gardes, homme égyptien, l'acheta des Ismaélites qui l'y avaient amené.

KJV ¹ And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

WLC ¹ וְיוֹסֵ֖ף הוּרַ֣ד מִצְרָ֑יְמָה וַיִּקְנֵ֡הוּ פּוֹטִיפַר֩ סְרִ֨יס פַּרְעֹ֜ה שַׂ֤ר הַטַּבָּחִים֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִצְרִ֔י מִיַּד֙ הַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹרִדֻ֖הוּ שָֽׁמָּה׃

BAN ² Et l'Eternel fut avec Joseph, et Joseph menait toutes choses à bien et son maître, l'Egyptien, le plaça dans sa maison.

KJV ² And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

WLC ² וַיְהִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֶת־ יוֹסֵ֔ף וַיְהִ֖י אִ֣ישׁ מַצְלִ֑יחַ וַיְהִ֕י בְּבֵ֥ית אֲדֹנָ֖יו הַמִּצְרִֽי׃

BAN ³ Et son maître vit que l'Eternel était avec lui, et que l'Eternel faisait réussir entre ses mains tout ce qu'il faisait.

KJV ³ And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

WLC ³ וַיַּ֣רְא אֲדֹנָ֔יו כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה אִתּ֑וֹ וְכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁר־ ה֣וּא עֹשֶׂ֔ה יְהוָ֖ה מַצְלִ֥יחַ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁴ Et Joseph trouva grâce à ses yeux, et il fut employé à son service, et son maître l'établit sur sa maison et lui remit tout ce qui lui appartenait.

KJV ⁴ And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

WLC ⁴ וַיִּמְצָ֨א יוֹסֵ֥ף חֵ֛ן בְּעֵינָ֖יו וַיְשָׁ֣רֶת אֹת֑וֹ וַיַּפְקִדֵ֙הוּ֙ עַל־ בֵּית֔וֹ וְכָל־ יֶשׁ־ ל֖וֹ נָתַ֥ן בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁵ Et dès qu'il l'eut établi sur sa maison et sur tout ce qui lui appartenait, l'Eternel bénit la maison de l'Egyptien à cause de Joseph. Et la bénédiction de l'Eternel fut sur tout ce qui lui appartenait, dans la maison et aux champs.

KJV ⁵ And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

WLC ⁵ וַיְהִ֡י מֵאָז֩ הִפְקִ֨יד אֹת֜וֹ בְּבֵית֗וֹ וְעַל֙ כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶשׁ־ ל֔וֹ וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־ בֵּ֥ית הַמִּצְרִ֖י בִּגְלַ֣ל יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיְהִ֞י בִּרְכַּ֤ת יְהוָה֙ בְּכָל־ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶשׁ־ ל֔וֹ בַּבַּ֖יִת וּבַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

BAN ⁶ Et il abandonna aux soins de Joseph tout ce qui lui appartenait, et avec lui il ne s'informa plus de rien, si ce n'est des aliments qu'il prenait. Et Joseph était beau de taille et beau de visage.

KJV ⁶ And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

WLC ⁶ וַיַּעֲזֹ֣ב כָּל־ אֲשֶׁר־ לוֹ֮ בְּיַד־ יוֹסֵף֒ וְלֹא־ יָדַ֤ע אִתּוֹ֙ מְא֔וּמָה כִּ֥י אִם־ הַלֶּ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁר־ ה֣וּא אוֹכֵ֑ל וַיְהִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף יְפֵה־ תֹ֖אַר וִיפֵ֥ה מַרְאֶֽה׃

BAN ⁷ Et il arriva après ces choses que la femme de son maître jeta les yeux sur Joseph et dit : Couche avec moi.

KJV ⁷ And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

WLC ⁷ וַיְהִ֗י אַחַר֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַתִּשָּׂ֧א אֵֽשֶׁת־ אֲדֹנָ֛יו אֶת־ עֵינֶ֖יהָ אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֑ף וַתֹּ֖אמֶר שִׁכְבָ֥ה עִמִּֽי׃
