KJV ² And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

MAR ² Elle enfanta encore Abel son frère ; et Abel fut berger, et Caïn laboureur.

S21 ² Elle mit encore au monde le frère de Caïn, Abel. Abel fut berger et Caïn fut cultivateur.

KJV ³ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

KJV ⁵ But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

MAR ⁵ Mais il n'eut point d'égard à Caïn, ni à son oblation ; et Caïn fut fort irrité, et son visage fut abattu.

S21 ⁵ mais pas sur Caïn et sur son offrande. Caïn fut très irrité et il arbora un air sombre.

KJV ⁶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

MAR ⁶ Et l'Eternel dit à Caïn : Pourquoi es-tu irrité ? et pourquoi ton visage est-il abattu ?

S21 ⁶ L'Eternel dit à Caïn: «Pourquoi es-tu irrité et pourquoi arbores-tu un air sombre?

KJV ⁷ If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

MAR ⁷ Si tu fais bien, ne sera-t-il pas reçu ? mais si tu ne fais pas bien, le péché est à la porte ; or ses désirs se [rapportent] à toi, et tu as Seigneurie sur lui.

S21 ⁷ Certainement, si tu agis bien, tu te relèveras. Si en revanche tu agis mal, le péché est couché à la porte et ses désirs se portent vers toi, mais c'est à toi de dominer sur lui.»

KJV ⁸ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

KJV ¹¹ And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

MAR ¹¹ Maintenant donc tu [seras] maudit, [même] de la part de la terre, qui a ouvert sa bouche pour recevoir de ta main le sang de ton frère.

S21 ¹¹ Désormais, tu es maudit, chassé loin du sol qui s'est entrouvert pour boire le sang de ton frère versé par ta main.

KJV ¹² When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

KJV ¹⁴ Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

MAR ¹⁴ Voici, tu m'as chassé aujourd'hui de cette terre-ci, et je serai caché de devant ta face, et serai vagabond et fugitif sur la terre, et il arrivera que quiconque me trouvera, me tuera.

S21 ¹⁴ Voici que tu me chasses aujourd'hui de cette terre. Je serai caché loin de toi, je serai errant et vagabond sur la terre, et toute personne qui me trouvera pourra me tuer.»

KJV ¹⁵ And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

KJV ²² And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

MAR ²² Et Tsilla aussi enfanta Tubal-Caïn, qui fut forgeur de toute sorte d'instruments d'airain et de fer ; et la soeur de Tubal-Caïn fut Nahama.

S21 ²² De son côté, Tsilla mit au monde Tubal-Caïn. Il forgeait tous les outils en bronze et en fer. La sœur de Tubal-Caïn était Naama.

KJV ²³ And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

MAR ²³ Et Lémec dit à Hada et à Tsilla ses femmes : Femmes de Lémec, entendez ma voix, écoutez ma parole ; je tuerai un homme, moi étant blessé, même un jeune homme, moi étant meurtri.

S21 ²³ Lémec dit à ses femmes:
«Ada et Tsilla, écoutez-moi,
femmes de Lémec, prêtez attention à ce que je dis!
C'est que j'ai tué un homme pour ma blessure
et un enfant pour ma contusion.

KJV ²⁴ If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

MAR ²⁴ Car [si] Caïn est vengé sept fois davantage, Lémec le sera soixante-dix sept fois.

Lémec le sera 77 fois.»

KJV ²⁵ And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

MAR ²⁵ Et Adam connut encore sa femme, qui enfanta un fils, et il appela son nom Seth, car Dieu m'a, [dit-il], donné un autre fils au lieu d'Abel, que Caïn a tué.

S21 ²⁵ Adam eut encore des relations conjugales avec sa femme. Elle mit au monde un fils et l'appela Seth, car, dit-elle, «Dieu m'a donné un autre fils pour remplacer Abel que Caïn a tué.»

KJV ²⁶ And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

MAR ²⁶ Il naquit aussi un fils à Seth, et il l'appela Enos. Alors on commença d'appeler du nom de l'Eternel.

S21 ²⁶ Seth eut lui aussi un fils, et il l'appela Enosh. C'est alors que l'on commença à faire appel au nom de l'Eternel.
