KJV ¹ And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

KJV ² And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.

MAR ² Et voici, sept jeunes vaches belles à voir, grasses et en bon point, montaient [hors] du fleuve, et paissaient dans des marécages.

WLC ² וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִן־ הַיְאֹ֗ר עֹלֹת֙ שֶׁ֣בַע פָּר֔וֹת יְפ֥וֹת מַרְאֶ֖ה וּבְרִיאֹ֣ת בָּשָׂ֑ר וַתִּרְעֶ֖ינָה בָּאָֽחוּ׃

KJV ³ And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.

MAR ³ Et voici sept autres jeunes vaches, laides à voir, et maigres, montaient [hors] du fleuve après les autres, et se tenaient auprès des autres jeunes vaches sur le bord du fleuve.

WLC ³ וְהִנֵּ֞ה שֶׁ֧בַע פָּר֣וֹת אֲחֵר֗וֹת עֹל֤וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶן֙ מִן־ הַיְאֹ֔ר רָע֥וֹת מַרְאֶ֖ה וְדַקּ֣וֹת בָּשָׂ֑ר וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֛דְנָה אֵ֥צֶל הַפָּר֖וֹת עַל־ שְׂפַ֥ת הַיְאֹֽר׃

KJV ⁴ And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

MAR ⁴ Et les jeunes vaches laides à voir, et maigres, mangèrent les sept jeunes vaches belles à voir, et grasses. Alors Pharaon s'éveilla.

WLC ⁴ וַתֹּאכַ֣לְנָה הַפָּר֗וֹת רָע֤וֹת הַמַּרְאֶה֙ וְדַקֹּ֣ת הַבָּשָׂ֔ר אֵ֚ת שֶׁ֣בַע הַפָּר֔וֹת יְפֹ֥ת הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה וְהַבְּרִיאֹ֑ת וַיִּיקַ֖ץ פַּרְעֹֽה׃

KJV ⁵ And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

MAR ⁵ Puis il se rendormit, et songea pour la seconde fois, et il lui semblait que sept épis grenus et beaux sortaient d'un même tuyau.

WLC ⁵ וַיִּישָׁ֕ן וַֽיַּחֲלֹ֖ם שֵׁנִ֑ית וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀ שֶׁ֣בַע שִׁבֳּלִ֗ים עֹל֛וֹת בְּקָנֶ֥ה אֶחָ֖ד בְּרִיא֥וֹת וְטֹבֽוֹת׃

KJV ⁶ And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

MAR ⁶ Ensuite il lui semblait que sept autres épis minces et flétris par le vent d'Orient, germaient après ceux-là.

WLC ⁶ וְהִנֵּה֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שִׁבֳּלִ֔ים דַּקּ֖וֹת וּשְׁדוּפֹ֣ת קָדִ֑ים צֹמְח֖וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶֽן׃

KJV ⁷ And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.

MAR ⁷ Et les épis minces engloutirent les sept épis grenus et pleins. Alors Pharaon s'éveilla ; et voilà le songe.

WLC ⁷ וַתִּבְלַ֙עְנָה֙ הַשִּׁבֳּלִ֣ים הַדַּקּ֔וֹת אֵ֚ת שֶׁ֣בַע הַֽשִּׁבֳּלִ֔ים הַבְּרִיא֖וֹת וְהַמְּלֵא֑וֹת וַיִּיקַ֥ץ פַּרְעֹ֖ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה חֲלֽוֹם׃

KJV ⁸ And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

MAR ⁸ Et il arriva au matin que son esprit fut effrayé, et il envoya appeler tous les magiciens et tous les sages d'Egypte, et leur récita ses songes, mais il n'y avait personne qui les lui interprétât.

KJV ⁹ Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

KJV ¹⁰ Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:

MAR ¹⁰ Lorsque Pharaon fut irrité contre ses serviteurs, et nous fit mettre, le grand Panetier et moi, en prison, dans la maison du Prévôt de l'hôtel ;

KJV ¹¹ And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

KJV ¹² And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

MAR ¹² Or il y avait là avec nous un garçon Hébreu, serviteur du Prévôt de l'hôtel, et nous lui contâmes nos songes, et il nous les expliqua, donnant à chacun l'explication selon son songe.

WLC ¹² וְשָׁ֨ם אִתָּ֜נוּ נַ֣עַר עִבְרִ֗י עֶ֚בֶד לְשַׂ֣ר הַטַּבָּחִ֔ים וַנְּ֨סַפֶּר־ ל֔וֹ וַיִּפְתָּר־ לָ֖נוּ אֶת־ חֲלֹמֹתֵ֑ינוּ אִ֥ישׁ כַּחֲלֹמ֖וֹ פָּתָֽר׃

KJV ¹³ And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

KJV ¹⁴ Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

KJV ¹⁵ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.

MAR ¹⁵ Et Pharaon dit à Joseph : J'ai songé un songe, et il n'[y a] personne qui l'explique ; or j'ai appris que tu sais expliquer les songes.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר פַּרְעֹה֙ אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֔ף חֲל֣וֹם חָלַ֔מְתִּי וּפֹתֵ֖ר אֵ֣ין אֹת֑וֹ וַאֲנִ֗י שָׁמַ֤עְתִּי עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תִּשְׁמַ֥ע חֲל֖וֹם לִפְתֹּ֥ר אֹתֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁶ And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

MAR ¹⁶ Et Joseph répondit à Pharaon, en disant : Ce sera Dieu, et non pas moi, qui répondra [ce qui concerne] la prospérité de Pharaon.

KJV ¹⁷ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

KJV ¹⁹ And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

MAR ¹⁹ Et voici, sept autres jeunes vaches montaient après celles-là, chétives, si laides, et si maigres, que je n'en ai jamais vu de semblables en laideur dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

KJV ²⁰ And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:

KJV ²¹ And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.

MAR ²¹ Qui entrèrent dans leur ventre, sans qu'il parut qu'elles y fussent entrées ; car elles étaient aussi laides à voir qu'au commencement ; alors je me réveillai.

KJV ²² And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

KJV ²³ And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

KJV ²⁴ And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.

MAR ²⁴ Mais les épis minces engloutirent les sept beaux épis ; et j'ai dit [ces songes] aux magiciens ; mais aucun ne me les a expliqués.

KJV ²⁵ And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

MAR ²⁵ Et Joseph répondit à Pharaon : Ce que Pharaon a songé n'est qu'une même chose ; Dieu a déclaré à Pharaon ce qu'il s'en va faire.

KJV ²⁶ The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

KJV ²⁷ And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

KJV ²⁸ This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

MAR ²⁸ C'est ce que j'ai dit à Pharaon, [savoir] que Dieu a fait voir à Pharaon ce qu'il s'en va faire.

WLC ²⁸ ה֣וּא הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים עֹשֶׂ֖ה הֶרְאָ֥ה אֶת־ פַּרְעֹֽה׃

KJV ²⁹ Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

MAR ²⁹ Voici, sept ans viennent [auxquels il y aura] une grande abondance dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ²⁹ הִנֵּ֛ה שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִ֖ים בָּא֑וֹת שָׂבָ֥ע גָּד֖וֹל בְּכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ³⁰ And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

MAR ³⁰ Mais après ces années-là viendront sept ans de famine ; alors on oubliera toute cette abondance au pays d'Egypte, et la famine consumera le pays.

WLC ³⁰ וְ֠קָמוּ שֶׁ֜בַע שְׁנֵ֤י רָעָב֙ אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ן וְנִשְׁכַּ֥ח כָּל־ הַשָּׂבָ֖ע בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְכִלָּ֥ה הָרָעָ֖ב אֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ³¹ And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

MAR ³¹ Et on ne reconnaîtra plus cette abondance au pays, à cause de la famine qui viendra après ; car elle sera très-grande.

WLC ³¹ וְלֹֽא־ יִוָּדַ֤ע הַשָּׂבָע֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ מִפְּנֵ֛י הָרָעָ֥ב הַה֖וּא אַחֲרֵי־ כֵ֑ן כִּֽי־ כָבֵ֥ד ה֖וּא מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ³² And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

MAR ³² Et quant à ce que le songe a été réitéré à Pharaon pour la seconde fois, c'est que la chose est arrêtée de Dieu, et que Dieu se hâte de l'exécuter.

WLC ³² וְעַ֨ל הִשָּׁנ֧וֹת הַחֲל֛וֹם אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֖ה פַּעֲמָ֑יִם כִּֽי־ נָכ֤וֹן הַדָּבָר֙ מֵעִ֣ם הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וּמְמַהֵ֥ר הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים לַעֲשֹׂתֽוֹ׃

KJV ³³ Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

MAR ³³ Or maintenant, que Pharaon choisisse un homme entendu et sage, et qu'il l'établisse sur le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ³³ וְעַתָּה֙ יֵרֶ֣א פַרְעֹ֔ה אִ֖ישׁ נָב֣וֹן וְחָכָ֑ם וִישִׁיתֵ֖הוּ עַל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ³⁴ Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

MAR ³⁴ Que Pharaon aussi fasse ceci : Qu'il établisse des Commissaires sur le pays, et qu'il prenne la cinquième partie [du revenu] du pays d'Egypte durant les sept années d'abondance.

WLC ³⁴ יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה פַרְעֹ֔ה וְיַפְקֵ֥ד פְּקִדִ֖ים עַל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ וְחִמֵּשׁ֙ אֶת־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּשֶׁ֖בַע שְׁנֵ֥י הַשָּׂבָֽע׃

KJV ³⁵ And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

MAR ³⁵ Et qu'on amasse tous les vivres de ces bonnes années qui viendront, et que le blé qu'on amassera, [demeure] sous la puissance de Pharaon pour nourriture dans les villes, et qu'on le garde.

WLC ³⁵ וְיִקְבְּצ֗וּ אֶת־ כָּל־ אֹ֙כֶל֙ הַשָּׁנִ֣ים הַטֹּבֹ֔ת הַבָּאֹ֖ת הָאֵ֑לֶּה וְיִצְבְּרוּ־ בָ֞ר תַּ֧חַת יַד־ פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֹ֥כֶל בֶּעָרִ֖ים וְשָׁמָֽרוּ׃

KJV ³⁶ And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

MAR ³⁶ Et ces vivres-là seront pour la provision du pays durant les sept années de famine qui seront au pays d'Egypte, afin que le pays ne soit pas consumé par la famine.

WLC ³⁶ וְהָיָ֨ה הָאֹ֤כֶל לְפִקָּדוֹן֙ לָאָ֔רֶץ לְשֶׁ֙בַע֙ שְׁנֵ֣י הָרָעָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּהְיֶ֖יןָ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וְלֹֽא־ תִכָּרֵ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ בָּרָעָֽב׃

KJV ³⁷ And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

MAR ³⁷ Et la chose plut à Pharaon, et à tous ses serviteurs.

WLC ³⁷ וַיִּיטַ֥ב הַדָּבָ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וּבְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־ עֲבָדָֽיו׃

KJV ³⁸ And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

MAR ³⁸ Et Pharaon dit à ses serviteurs : Pourrions-nous trouver un homme semblable à celui-ci, qui eût l'Esprit de Dieu ?

WLC ³⁸ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶל־ עֲבָדָ֑יו הֲנִמְצָ֣א כָזֶ֔ה אִ֕ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֛ר ר֥וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֖ים בּֽוֹ׃

KJV ³⁹ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

MAR ³⁹ Et Pharaon dit à Joseph : Puisque Dieu t'a fait connaître toutes ces choses, il n'y a personne qui soit si entendu ni si sage que toi.

WLC ³⁹ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר פַּרְעֹה֙ אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֔ף אַחֲרֵ֨י הוֹדִ֧יעַ אֱלֹהִ֛ים אוֹתְךָ֖ אֶת־ כָּל־ זֹ֑את אֵין־ נָב֥וֹן וְחָכָ֖ם כָּמֽוֹךָ׃

KJV ⁴⁰ Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

MAR ⁴⁰ Tu seras sur ma maison, et tout mon peuple te baisera la bouche ; seulement je serai, plus grand que toi quant au trône.

WLC ⁴⁰ אַתָּה֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה עַל־ בֵּיתִ֔י וְעַל־ פִּ֖יךָ יִשַּׁ֣ק כָּל־ עַמִּ֑י רַ֥ק הַכִּסֵּ֖א אֶגְדַּ֥ל מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

KJV ⁴¹ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁴¹ Pharaon dit encore à Joseph : Regarde, je t'ai établi sur tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁴¹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֑ף רְאֵה֙ נָתַ֣תִּי אֹֽתְךָ֔ עַ֖ל כָּל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁴² And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

MAR ⁴² Alors Pharaon ôta son anneau de sa main, et le mit en celle de Joseph, et le fit vêtir d'habits de fin lin, et lui mit un collier d'or au cou.

WLC ⁴² וַיָּ֨סַר פַּרְעֹ֤ה אֶת־ טַבַּעְתּוֹ֙ מֵעַ֣ל יָד֔וֹ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֖הּ עַל־ יַ֣ד יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיַּלְבֵּ֤שׁ אֹתוֹ֙ בִּגְדֵי־ שֵׁ֔שׁ וַיָּ֛שֶׂם רְבִ֥ד הַזָּהָ֖ב עַל־ צַוָּארֽוֹ׃

KJV ⁴³ And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁴³ Et le fit monter sur le chariot qui était le second après le sien, et on criait devant lui ; qu'on s'agenouille ; et il l'établit sur tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁴³ וַיַּרְכֵּ֣ב אֹת֗וֹ בְּמִרְכֶּ֤בֶת הַמִּשְׁנֶה֙ אֲשֶׁר־ ל֔וֹ וַיִּקְרְא֥וּ לְפָנָ֖יו אַבְרֵ֑ךְ וְנָת֣וֹן אֹת֔וֹ עַ֖ל כָּל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁴⁴ And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁴⁴ Et Pharaon dit à Joseph : Je suis Pharaon, mais sans toi nul ne lèvera la main ni le pied dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁴⁴ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֖ף אֲנִ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וּבִלְעָדֶ֗יךָ לֹֽא־ יָרִ֨ים אִ֧ישׁ אֶת־ יָד֛וֹ וְאֶת־ רַגְל֖וֹ בְּכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁴⁵ And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁴⁵ Et Pharaon appela le nom de Joseph Tsaphenath-Pahanéah, et lui donna pour femme Asenath, fille de Potiphérah, Gouverneur d'On ; et Joseph alla [visiter] le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁴⁵ וַיִּקְרָ֨א פַרְעֹ֣ה שֵׁם־ יוֹסֵף֮ צָֽפְנַ֣ת פַּעְנֵחַ֒ וַיִּתֶּן־ ל֣וֹ אֶת־ אָֽסְנַ֗ת בַּת־ פּ֥וֹטִי פֶ֛רַע כֹּהֵ֥ן אֹ֖ן לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֖ף עַל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁴⁶ And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁴⁶ Or Joseph était âgé de trente ans, quand il se présenta devant Pharaon Roi d'Egypte, et étant sorti de devant Pharaon, il passa par tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁴⁶ וְיוֹסֵף֙ בֶּן־ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה בְּעָמְד֕וֹ לִפְנֵ֖י פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־ מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיֵּצֵ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה וַֽיַּעְבֹ֖ר בְּכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁴⁷ And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.

MAR ⁴⁷ Et la terre rapporta très-abondamment durant les sept années de fertilité.

WLC ⁴⁷ וַתַּ֣עַשׂ הָאָ֔רֶץ בְּשֶׁ֖בַע שְׁנֵ֣י הַשָּׂבָ֑ע לִקְמָצִֽים׃

KJV ⁴⁸ And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.

MAR ⁴⁸ Et [Joseph] amassa tous les grains de ces sept années, qui furent [recueillis] au pays d'Egypte, et mit ces grains dans les villes ; en chaque ville les grains des champs d'alentour.

WLC ⁴⁸ וַיִּקְבֹּ֞ץ אֶת־ כָּל־ אֹ֣כֶל ׀ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר הָיוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיִּתֶּן־ אֹ֖כֶל בֶּעָרִ֑ים אֹ֧כֶל שְׂדֵה־ הָעִ֛יר אֲשֶׁ֥ר סְבִיבֹתֶ֖יהָ נָתַ֥ן בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

KJV ⁴⁹ And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.

MAR ⁴⁹ Ainsi Joseph amassa une grande quantité de blé, comme le sable de la mer ; tellement qu'on cessa de le mesurer, parce qu'il était sans nombre.

WLC ⁴⁹ וַיִּצְבֹּ֨ר יוֹסֵ֥ף בָּ֛ר כְּח֥וֹל הַיָּ֖ם הַרְבֵּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד עַ֛ד כִּי־ חָדַ֥ל לִסְפֹּ֖ר כִּי־ אֵ֥ין מִסְפָּֽר׃

KJV ⁵⁰ And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

MAR ⁵⁰ Or avant que la [première] année de la famine vînt, il naquit deux enfants à Joseph, qu'Asenath fille de Potiphérah, Gouverneur d'On, lui enfanta.

WLC ⁵⁰ וּלְיוֹסֵ֤ף יֻלַּד֙ שְׁנֵ֣י בָנִ֔ים בְּטֶ֥רֶם תָּב֖וֹא שְׁנַ֣ת הָרָעָ֑ב אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָֽלְדָה־ לּוֹ֙ אָֽסְנַ֔ת בַּת־ פּ֥וֹטִי פֶ֖רַע כֹּהֵ֥ן אֽוֹן׃

KJV ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

MAR ⁵¹ Et Joseph nomma le premier-né, Manassé ; parce que, [dit-il], Dieu m'a fait oublier tous mes travaux, et toute la maison de mon père.

KJV ⁵² And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

MAR ⁵² Et il nomma le second, Ephraïm ; parce que, [dit-il], Dieu m'a fait fructifier au pays de mon affliction.

WLC ⁵² וְאֵ֛ת שֵׁ֥ם הַשֵּׁנִ֖י קָרָ֣א אֶפְרָ֑יִם כִּֽי־ הִפְרַ֥נִי אֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּאֶ֥רֶץ עָנְיִֽי׃

KJV ⁵³ And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.

WLC ⁵³ וַתִּכְלֶ֕ינָה שֶׁ֖בַע שְׁנֵ֣י הַשָּׂבָ֑ע אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁵⁴ And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

MAR ⁵⁴ Et les sept années de la famine commencèrent, comme Joseph l'avait prédit. Et la famine fut dans tous les pays ; mais il y avait du pain dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁵⁴ וַתְּחִלֶּ֜ינָה שֶׁ֣בַע שְׁנֵ֤י הָרָעָב֙ לָב֔וֹא כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר אָמַ֣ר יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיְהִ֤י רָעָב֙ בְּכָל־ הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת וּבְכָל־ אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם הָ֥יָה לָֽחֶם׃

KJV ⁵⁵ And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

MAR ⁵⁵ Puis tout le pays d'Egypte fut affamé, et le peuple cria à Pharaon pour [avoir du] pain. Et Pharaon répondit à tous les Egyptiens : Allez à Joseph, [et] faites ce qu'il vous dira.

WLC ⁵⁵ וַתִּרְעַב֙ כָּל־ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיִּצְעַ֥ק הָעָ֛ם אֶל־ פַּרְעֹ֖ה לַלָּ֑חֶם וַיֹּ֨אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֤ה לְכָל־ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לְכ֣וּ אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֔ף אֲשֶׁר־ יֹאמַ֥ר לָכֶ֖ם תַּעֲשֽׂוּ׃

KJV ⁵⁶ And the famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

MAR ⁵⁶ La famine donc étant dans tout le pays, Joseph ouvrit tous [les greniers] qui étaient chez les Egyptiens, et leur distribua du blé ; et la famine augmentait au pays d'Egypte.

WLC ⁵⁶ וְהָרָעָ֣ב הָיָ֔ה עַ֖ל כָּל־ פְּנֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּפְתַּ֨ח יוֹסֵ֜ף אֶֽת־ כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֤ר בָּהֶם֙ וַיִּשְׁבֹּ֣ר לְמִצְרַ֔יִם וַיֶּחֱזַ֥ק הָֽרָעָ֖ב בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

KJV ⁵⁷ And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

MAR ⁵⁷ On venait aussi de tout pays en Egypte vers Joseph, pour acheter du blé ; car la famine était fort grande par toute la terre.

WLC ⁵⁷ וְכָל־ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ בָּ֣אוּ מִצְרַ֔יְמָה לִשְׁבֹּ֖ר אֶל־ יוֹסֵ֑ף כִּֽי־ חָזַ֥ק הָרָעָ֖ב בְּכָל־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃
