DRB ¹ Et Jacob vit qu'il y avait du blé en Égypte ; et Jacob dit à ses fils : Pourquoi vous regardez-vous les uns les autres ?

KJV ¹ Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

WLC ¹ וַיַּ֣רְא יַעֲקֹ֔ב כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־ שֶׁ֖בֶר בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ לְבָנָ֔יו לָ֖מָּה תִּתְרָאֽוּ׃

DRB ² Et il dit : Voici, j'ai appris qu'il y a du blé en Égypte ; descendez-y, et achetez-nous-en là, afin que nous vivions, et que nous ne mourions pas.

KJV ² And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

WLC ² וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֣ה שָׁמַ֔עְתִּי כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־ שֶׁ֖בֶר בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם רְדוּ־ שָׁ֙מָּה֙ וְשִׁבְרוּ־ לָ֣נוּ מִשָּׁ֔ם וְנִחְיֶ֖ה וְלֹ֥א נָמֽוּת׃

DRB ³ Et dix frères de Joseph descendirent pour acheter du blé en Égypte ;

KJV ³ And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

WLC ³ וַיֵּרְד֥וּ אֲחֵֽי־ יוֹסֵ֖ף עֲשָׂרָ֑ה לִשְׁבֹּ֥ר בָּ֖ר מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

DRB ⁴ mais Jacob n'envoya pas Benjamin, le frère de Joseph, avec ses frères, car il disait : De peur qu'un accident ne lui arrive !

KJV ⁴ But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

WLC ⁴ וְאֶת־ בִּנְיָמִין֙ אֲחִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף לֹא־ שָׁלַ֥ח יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־ אֶחָ֑יו כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר פֶּן־ יִקְרָאֶ֖נּוּ אָסֽוֹן׃

DRB ⁵ Et les fils d'Israël allèrent pour acheter du blé, parmi ceux qui allaient ; car la famine était dans le pays de Canaan.

KJV ⁵ And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

WLC ⁵ וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִשְׁבֹּ֖ר בְּת֣וֹךְ הַבָּאִ֑ים כִּֽי־ הָיָ֥ה הָרָעָ֖ב בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

DRB ⁶ Et Joseph était gouverneur du pays ; il vendait le blé à tout le peuple du pays*. Et les frères de Joseph vinrent, et se prosternèrent devant lui la face contre terre.

KJV ⁶ And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

WLC ⁶ וְיוֹסֵ֗ף ה֚וּא הַשַּׁלִּ֣יט עַל־ הָאָ֔רֶץ ה֥וּא הַמַּשְׁבִּ֖יר לְכָל־ עַ֣ם הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ אֲחֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף וַיִּשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ־ ל֥וֹ אַפַּ֖יִם אָֽרְצָה׃

DRB ⁷ Et Joseph vit ses frères, et les reconnut ; et il fit l'étranger vis-à-vis d'eux, et leur parla durement, et leur dit : D'où venez-vous ? Et ils dirent : Du pays de Canaan, pour acheter des vivres.

KJV ⁷ And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

WLC ⁷ וַיַּ֥רְא יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶת־ אֶחָ֖יו וַיַּכִּרֵ֑ם וַיִּתְנַכֵּ֨ר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר אִתָּ֣ם קָשׁ֗וֹת וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ מֵאַ֣יִן בָּאתֶ֔ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנַ֖עַן לִשְׁבָּר־ אֹֽכֶל׃

DRB ⁸ Et Joseph reconnut ses frères ; et eux ne le reconnurent pas.

KJV ⁸ And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

WLC ⁸ וַיַּכֵּ֥ר יוֹסֵ֖ף אֶת־ אֶחָ֑יו וְהֵ֖ם לֹ֥א הִכִּרֻֽהוּ׃

DRB ⁹ Et Joseph se souvint des songes qu'il avait songés à leur sujet, et il leur dit : Vous êtes des espions ; c'est pour voir les lieux ouverts* du pays que vous êtes venus.

KJV ⁹ And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

WLC ⁹ וַיִּזְכֹּ֣ר יוֹסֵ֔ף אֵ֚ת הַחֲלֹמ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר חָלַ֖ם לָהֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ מְרַגְּלִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם לִרְא֛וֹת אֶת־ עֶרְוַ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ בָּאתֶֽם׃

DRB ¹⁰ Et ils lui dirent : Non, mon seigneur ; mais tes serviteurs sont venus pour acheter des vivres.

KJV ¹⁰ And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו לֹ֣א אֲדֹנִ֑י וַעֲבָדֶ֥יךָ בָּ֖אוּ לִשְׁבָּר־ אֹֽכֶל׃

DRB ¹¹ Nous sommes tous fils d'un seul homme ; nous sommes d'honnêtes gens ; tes serviteurs ne sont pas des espions.

KJV ¹¹ We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

WLC ¹¹ כֻּלָּ֕נוּ בְּנֵ֥י אִישׁ־ אֶחָ֖ד נָ֑חְנוּ כֵּנִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ לֹא־ הָי֥וּ עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ מְרַגְּלִֽים׃

DRB ¹² Et il leur dit : Non ; mais vous êtes venus pour voir les lieux ouverts du pays.

KJV ¹² And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֑ם לֹ֕א כִּֽי־ עֶרְוַ֥ת הָאָ֖רֶץ בָּאתֶ֥ם לִרְאֽוֹת׃

DRB ¹³ Et ils dirent : Tes serviteurs étaient douze frères ; nous sommes fils d'un seul homme, au pays de Canaan ; et voici, le plus jeune est aujourd'hui avec notre père, et l'un n'est plus.

KJV ¹³ And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

WLC ¹³ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ שְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂר֩ עֲבָדֶ֨יךָ אַחִ֧ים ׀ אֲנַ֛חְנוּ בְּנֵ֥י אִישׁ־ אֶחָ֖ד בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְהִנֵּ֨ה הַקָּטֹ֤ן אֶת־ אָבִ֙ינוּ֙ הַיּ֔וֹם וְהָאֶחָ֖ד אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

DRB ¹⁴ Et Joseph leur dit : C'est ce que je vous disais en disant : Vous êtes des espions.

KJV ¹⁴ And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

WLC ¹⁴ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֖ם יוֹסֵ֑ף ה֗וּא אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבַּ֧רְתִּי אֲלֵכֶ֛ם לֵאמֹ֖ר מְרַגְּלִ֥ים אַתֶּֽם׃

DRB ¹⁵ Par ceci vous serez mis à l'épreuve : Vie du Pharaon ! si vous sortez d'ici, à moins que votre jeune frère ne vienne ici !

KJV ¹⁵ Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

WLC ¹⁵ בְּזֹ֖את תִּבָּחֵ֑נוּ חֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ אִם־ תֵּצְא֣וּ מִזֶּ֔ה כִּ֧י אִם־ בְּב֛וֹא אֲחִיכֶ֥ם הַקָּטֹ֖ן הֵֽנָּה׃

DRB ¹⁶ Envoyez l'un de vous, et qu'il aille chercher votre frère ; et vous, vous serez liés, et vos paroles seront mises à l'épreuve, [pour voir] si la vérité est avec vous : sinon, vie du Pharaon ! certainement vous êtes des espions.

KJV ¹⁶ Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

WLC ¹⁶ שִׁלְח֨וּ מִכֶּ֣ם אֶחָד֮ וְיִקַּ֣ח אֶת־ אֲחִיכֶם֒ וְאַתֶּם֙ הֵאָ֣סְר֔וּ וְיִבָּֽחֲנוּ֙ דִּבְרֵיכֶ֔ם הַֽאֱמֶ֖ת אִתְּכֶ֑ם וְאִם־ לֹ֕א חֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה כִּ֥י מְרַגְּלִ֖ים אַתֶּֽם׃

DRB ¹⁷ Et il les fit mettre ensemble sous garde pendant trois jours.

KJV ¹⁷ And he put them all together into ward three days.

WLC ¹⁷ וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ף אֹתָ֛ם אֶל־ מִשְׁמָ֖ר שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת יָמִֽים׃

DRB ¹⁸ Et le troisième jour, Joseph leur dit : Faites ceci, et vous vivrez ; moi je crains Dieu.

KJV ¹⁸ And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

WLC ¹⁸ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֤ם יוֹסֵף֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י זֹ֥את עֲשׂ֖וּ וִֽחְי֑וּ אֶת־ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים אֲנִ֥י יָרֵֽא׃

DRB ¹⁹ Si vous êtes d'honnêtes gens, l'un de vous, qui êtes frères, sera lié dans la maison ou vous avez été sous garde ; et vous, allez, emportez du blé pour la faim de vos maisons ;

KJV ¹⁹ If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

WLC ¹⁹ אִם־ כֵּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם אֲחִיכֶ֣ם אֶחָ֔ד יֵאָסֵ֖ר בְּבֵ֣ית מִשְׁמַרְכֶ֑ם וְאַתֶּם֙ לְכ֣וּ הָבִ֔יאוּ שֶׁ֖בֶר רַעֲב֥וֹן בָּתֵּיכֶֽם׃

DRB ²⁰ et amenez-moi le plus jeune de vos frères, et vos paroles se trouveront vraies ; et vous ne mourrez pas. Et ils firent ainsi.

KJV ²⁰ But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

WLC ²⁰ וְאֶת־ אֲחִיכֶ֤ם הַקָּטֹן֙ תָּבִ֣יאוּ אֵלַ֔י וְיֵאָמְנ֥וּ דִבְרֵיכֶ֖ם וְלֹ֣א תָמ֑וּתוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־ כֵֽן׃

DRB ²¹ Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Certainement nous sommes coupables à l'égard de notre frère ; car nous avons vu la détresse de son âme quand il nous demandait grâce, et nous ne l'avons pas écouté ; c'est pourquoi cette détresse est venue sur nous.

KJV ²¹ And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

WLC ²¹ וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־ אָחִ֗יו אֲבָל֮ אֲשֵׁמִ֣ים ׀ אֲנַחְנוּ֮ עַל־ אָחִינוּ֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר רָאִ֜ינוּ צָרַ֥ת נַפְשׁ֛וֹ בְּהִתְחַֽנְנ֥וֹ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ וְלֹ֣א שָׁמָ֑עְנוּ עַל־ כֵּן֙ בָּ֣אָה אֵלֵ֔ינוּ הַצָּרָ֖ה הַזֹּֽאת׃

DRB ²² Et Ruben leur répondit, disant : Ne vous ai-je pas parlé, disant : Ne péchez pas contre l'enfant ? Mais vous n'avez pas écouté ; et aussi, voici, son sang est redemandé.

KJV ²² And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

WLC ²² וַיַּעַן֩ רְאוּבֵ֨ן אֹתָ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר הֲלוֹא֩ אָמַ֨רְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֧ם ׀ לֵאמֹ֛ר אַל־ תֶּחֶטְא֥וּ בַיֶּ֖לֶד וְלֹ֣א שְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם וְגַם־ דָּמ֖וֹ הִנֵּ֥ה נִדְרָֽשׁ׃

DRB ²³ Et ils ne savaient pas que Joseph comprenait, car il y avait entre eux un interprète.

KJV ²³ And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

WLC ²³ וְהֵם֙ לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ כִּ֥י שֹׁמֵ֖עַ יוֹסֵ֑ף כִּ֥י הַמֵּלִ֖יץ בֵּינֹתָֽם׃

DRB ²⁴ Et il se détourna d'auprès d'eux, et pleura ; et il revint vers eux, et leur parla, et prit d'avec eux Siméon, et le lia devant leurs yeux.

KJV ²⁴ And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

WLC ²⁴ וַיִּסֹּ֥ב מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם וַיֵּ֑בְךְּ וַיָּ֤שָׁב אֲלֵהֶם֙ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם וַיִּקַּ֤ח מֵֽאִתָּם֙ אֶת־ שִׁמְע֔וֹן וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ר אֹת֖וֹ לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃

DRB ²⁵ Et Joseph commanda de remplir de blé leurs sacs*, et de leur remettre leur argent à chacun dans son sac, et de leur donner des provisions pour le chemin ; et on leur fit ainsi.

KJV ²⁵ Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

WLC ²⁵ וַיְצַ֣ו יוֹסֵ֗ף וַיְמַלְא֣וּ אֶת־ כְּלֵיהֶם֮ בָּר֒ וּלְהָשִׁ֤יב כַּסְפֵּיהֶם֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־ שַׂקּ֔וֹ וְלָתֵ֥ת לָהֶ֛ם צֵדָ֖ה לַדָּ֑רֶךְ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ לָהֶ֖ם כֵּֽן׃

DRB ²⁶ Et ils chargèrent leur blé sur leurs ânes, et s'en allèrent de là.

KJV ²⁶ And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

WLC ²⁶ וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ אֶת־ שִׁבְרָ֖ם עַל־ חֲמֹרֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ מִשָּֽׁם׃

DRB ²⁷ Et l'un [d'eux] ouvrit son sac pour donner à manger à son âne, dans le caravansérail, et il vit son argent, et voici, il était à l'ouverture de son sac.

KJV ²⁷ And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.

WLC ²⁷ וַיִּפְתַּ֨ח הָאֶחָ֜ד אֶת־ שַׂקּ֗וֹ לָתֵ֥ת מִסְפּ֛וֹא לַחֲמֹר֖וֹ בַּמָּל֑וֹן וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־ כַּסְפּ֔וֹ וְהִנֵּה־ ה֖וּא בְּפִ֥י אַמְתַּחְתּֽוֹ׃

DRB ²⁸ Et il dit à ses frères : Mon argent m'a été rendu ; et même, le voici dans mon sac ! Et le cœur leur manqua, et ils furent saisis de peur, se disant l'un à l'autre : Qu'est-ce que Dieu nous a fait ?

KJV ²⁸ And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

WLC ²⁸ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־ אֶחָיו֙ הוּשַׁ֣ב כַּסְפִּ֔י וְגַ֖ם הִנֵּ֣ה בְאַמְתַּחְתִּ֑י וַיֵּצֵ֣א לִבָּ֗ם וַיֶּֽחֶרְד֞וּ אִ֤ישׁ אֶל־ אָחִיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מַה־ זֹּ֛את עָשָׂ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים לָֽנוּ׃

DRB ²⁹ Et ils vinrent vers Jacob, leur père, au pays de Canaan, et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qui leur était arrivé, disant :

KJV ²⁹ And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

WLC ²⁹ וַיָּבֹ֛אוּ אֶל־ יַעֲקֹ֥ב אֲבִיהֶ֖ם אַ֣רְצָה כְּנָ֑עַן וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ ל֔וֹ אֵ֛ת כָּל־ הַקֹּרֹ֥ת אֹתָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃

DRB ³⁰ L'homme, le seigneur du pays, nous a parlé durement, et nous a traités comme des espions du pays ;

KJV ³⁰ The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

WLC ³⁰ דִּ֠בֶּר הָאִ֨ישׁ אֲדֹנֵ֥י הָאָ֛רֶץ אִתָּ֖נוּ קָשׁ֑וֹת וַיִּתֵּ֣ן אֹתָ֔נוּ כִּֽמְרַגְּלִ֖ים אֶת־ הָאָֽרֶץ׃

DRB ³¹ et nous lui avons dit : Nous sommes d'honnêtes gens, nous ne sommes pas des espions.

KJV ³¹ And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

WLC ³¹ וַנֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו כֵּנִ֣ים אֲנָ֑חְנוּ לֹ֥א הָיִ֖ינוּ מְרַגְּלִֽים׃

DRB ³² Nous étions douze frères fils de notre père : l'un n'est plus, et le plus jeune est aujourd'hui avec notre père au pays de Canaan.

KJV ³² We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

WLC ³² שְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥ר אֲנַ֛חְנוּ אַחִ֖ים בְּנֵ֣י אָבִ֑ינוּ הָאֶחָ֣ד אֵינֶ֔נּוּ וְהַקָּטֹ֥ן הַיּ֛וֹם אֶת־ אָבִ֖ינוּ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

DRB ³³ Et l'homme, le seigneur du pays, nous a dit : À ceci je connaîtrai que vous êtes d'honnêtes gens : Laissez auprès de moi l'un de vos frères, et prenez [du blé] pour la faim de vos maisons, et allez-vous-en.

KJV ³³ And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

WLC ³³ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלֵ֗ינוּ הָאִישׁ֙ אֲדֹנֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ בְּזֹ֣את אֵדַ֔ע כִּ֥י כֵנִ֖ים אַתֶּ֑ם אֲחִיכֶ֤ם הָֽאֶחָד֙ הַנִּ֣יחוּ אִתִּ֔י וְאֶת־ רַעֲב֥וֹן בָּתֵּיכֶ֖ם קְח֥וּ וָלֵֽכוּ׃

DRB ³⁴ Et amenez-moi votre plus jeune frère, et je connaîtrai que vous n'êtes pas des espions, mais que vous êtes d'honnêtes gens : je vous donnerai votre frère, et vous trafiquerez dans le pays.

KJV ³⁴ And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

WLC ³⁴ וְ֠הָבִיאוּ אֶת־ אֲחִיכֶ֣ם הַקָּטֹן֮ אֵלַי֒ וְאֵֽדְעָ֗ה כִּ֣י לֹ֤א מְרַגְּלִים֙ אַתֶּ֔ם כִּ֥י כֵנִ֖ים אַתֶּ֑ם אֶת־ אֲחִיכֶם֙ אֶתֵּ֣ן לָכֶ֔ם וְאֶת־ הָאָ֖רֶץ תִּסְחָֽרוּ׃

DRB ³⁵ Et il arriva, comme ils vidaient leurs sacs, que voici, chacun avait son paquet d'argent dans son sac ; et ils virent, eux et leur père, leurs paquets d'argent, et ils eurent peur.

KJV ³⁵ And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

WLC ³⁵ וַיְהִ֗י הֵ֚ם מְרִיקִ֣ים שַׂקֵּיהֶ֔ם וְהִנֵּה־ אִ֥ישׁ צְרוֹר־ כַּסְפּ֖וֹ בְּשַׂקּ֑וֹ וַיִּרְא֞וּ אֶת־ צְרֹר֧וֹת כַּסְפֵּיהֶ֛ם הֵ֥מָּה וַאֲבִיהֶ֖ם וַיִּירָֽאוּ׃

DRB ³⁶ Et Jacob, leur père, leur dit : Vous m'avez privé d'enfants : Joseph n'est plus, et Siméon n'est plus, et vous voulez prendre Benjamin ! Toutes ces choses sont contre moi.

KJV ³⁶ And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

WLC ³⁶ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵהֶם֙ יַעֲקֹ֣ב אֲבִיהֶ֔ם אֹתִ֖י שִׁכַּלְתֶּ֑ם יוֹסֵ֤ף אֵינֶ֙נּוּ֙ וְשִׁמְע֣וֹן אֵינֶ֔נּוּ וְאֶת־ בִּנְיָמִ֣ן תִּקָּ֔חוּ עָלַ֖י הָי֥וּ כֻלָּֽנָה׃

DRB ³⁷ Et Ruben parla à son père, disant : Tu feras mourir mes deux fils si je ne te le ramène ; remets-le entre mes mains, et je te le ramènerai.

KJV ³⁷ And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

WLC ³⁷ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר רְאוּבֵן֙ אֶל־ אָבִ֣יו לֵאמֹ֔ר אֶת־ שְׁנֵ֤י בָנַי֙ תָּמִ֔ית אִם־ לֹ֥א אֲבִיאֶ֖נּוּ אֵלֶ֑יךָ תְּנָ֤ה אֹתוֹ֙ עַל־ יָדִ֔י וַאֲנִ֖י אֲשִׁיבֶ֥נּוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

DRB ³⁸ Mais il dit : Mon fils ne descendra pas avec vous car son frère est mort, et lui seul est resté ; si quelque accident lui arrivait dans le chemin où vous allez, vous feriez descendre mes cheveux blancs avec douleur au shéol*.

KJV ³⁸ And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
