KJV ² That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

KJV ³ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

S21 ³ Alors l'Eternel dit: «Mon Esprit ne contestera pas toujours avec l'homme, car l'homme n'est que chair. Il vivra 120 ans.»

KJV ⁴ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

S21 ⁴ Il y avait des géants sur la terre à cette époque-là. Ce fut aussi le cas après que les fils de Dieu se furent unis aux filles des hommes et qu'elles leur eurent donné des enfants. C'étaient les célèbres héros de l'Antiquité.

VULC ⁴ Gigantes autem erant super terram in diebus illis : postquam enim ingressi sunt filii Dei ad filias hominum, illæque genuerunt, isti sunt potentes a sæculo viri famosi.

KJV ⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

S21 ⁵ L'Eternel vit que les hommes commettaient beaucoup de mal sur la terre et que toutes les pensées de leur cœur se portaient constamment et uniquement vers le mal.

VULC ⁵ Videns autem Deus quod multa malitia hominum esset in terra, et cuncta cogitatio cordis intenta esset ad malum omni tempore,

KJV ⁶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

KJV ⁷ And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

VULC ⁷ Delebo, inquit, hominem, quem creavi, a facie terræ, ab homine usque ad animantia, a reptili usque ad volucres cæli : pœnitet enim me fecisse eos.

KJV ⁸ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

S21 ¹⁴ Fais-toi un bateau avec des arbres résineux. Tu disposeras cette arche en compartiments et tu l'enduiras de poix dedans et dehors.

VULC ¹⁴ Fac tibi arcam de lignis lævigatis ; mansiunculas in arca facies, et bitumine linies intrinsecus et extrinsecus.

KJV ¹⁵ And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

S21 ¹⁵ Voici comment tu la feras: l'arche aura 150 mètres de long, 25 de large et 15 de haut.

VULC ¹⁵ Et sic facies eam : trecentorum cubitorum erit longitudo arcæ, quinquaginta cubitorum latitudo, et triginta cubitorum altitudo illius.

KJV ¹⁶ A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

S21 ¹⁶ Tu feras une ouverture à l'arche et tu la feras d'une cinquantaine de centimètres depuis le haut. Tu placeras une porte sur le côté de l'arche. Tu construiras un étage inférieur, un deuxième et un troisième étages.

VULC ¹⁶ Fenestram in arca facies, et in cubito consummabis summitatem ejus : ostium autem arcæ pones ex latere ; deorsum, cœnacula et tristega facies in ea.

KJV ¹⁷ And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

KJV ¹⁸ But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

S21 ¹⁹ De tout ce qui vit, de toute créature, tu feras entrer dans l'arche deux membres de chaque espèce pour leur conserver la vie avec toi. Il y aura un mâle et une femelle.

VULC ¹⁹ Et ex cunctis animantibus universæ carnis bina induces in arcam, ut vivant tecum : masculini sexus et feminini.

KJV ²⁰ Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

S21 ²⁰ Des oiseaux selon leur espèce, du bétail selon son espèce et de tous les reptiles de la terre selon leur espèce, deux membres de chaque espèce viendront vers toi pour que tu leur conserves la vie.

VULC ²⁰ De volucribus juxta genus suum, et de jumentis in genere suo, et ex omni reptili terræ secundum genus suum : bina de omnibus ingredientur tecum, ut possint vivere.

KJV ²¹ And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

S21 ²¹ Quant à toi, prends de tous les aliments que l'on mange et fais-t'en une provision afin qu'ils vous servent de nourriture, à toi et à eux.»

VULC ²¹ Tolles igitur tecum ex omnibus escis, quæ mandi possunt, et comportabis apud te : et erunt tam tibi, quam illis in cibum.

KJV ²² Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
