DRB ⁴ n'avez-vous pas fait une distinction en vous-mêmes*, et n'êtes-vous pas devenus des juges ayant de mauvaises pensées ?

KJV ⁴ Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

DRB ⁵ Écoutez, mes frères bien-aimés : Dieu n'a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres quant au monde, riches en foi et héritiers du royaume qu'il a promis à ceux qui l'aiment ?

KJV ⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

DRB ⁶ Mais vous, vous avez méprisé le pauvre. Les riches ne vous oppriment-ils pas, et ne sont-ce pas eux qui vous tirent devant les tribunaux ?

KJV ⁶ But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

DRB ⁷ Ne sont-ce pas eux qui blasphèment le beau nom qui a été invoqué sur vous ?

KJV ⁷ Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

DRB ⁸ Si en effet vous accomplissez la loi royale, selon* l'écriture : «Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même» {Lévitique 19:18}, vous faites bien ;

KJV ⁸ If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

DRB ⁹ mais si vous faites acception de personnes, vous commettez le péché, et vous êtes convaincus par la loi comme transgresseurs.

KJV ⁹ But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

DRB ¹⁰ Car quiconque gardera toute la loi et faillira en un seul point, est coupable sur tous.

KJV ¹⁰ For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

DRB ¹¹ Car celui qui a dit : «Tu ne commettras pas adultère», a dit aussi : «Tu ne tueras pas»*. Or si tu ne commets pas adultère, mais que tu tues, tu es devenu transgresseur de [la] loi.

KJV ¹¹ For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

DRB ¹² Ainsi parlez, et ainsi agissez comme devant être jugés par la loi de la liberté ;

KJV ¹² So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

DRB ¹³ car le jugement est sans miséricorde pour celui qui n'a pas usé de miséricorde. La miséricorde se glorifie vis-à-vis du* jugement.

KJV ¹³ For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

DRB ¹⁴ Mes frères, quel profit y a-t-il si quelqu'un dit qu'il a la foi, et qu'il n'ait pas d'œuvres ? La foi peut-elle le sauver ?

KJV ¹⁴ What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

DRB ¹⁵ Et si un frère ou une sœur sont nus et manquent de leur nourriture de tous les jours,

KJV ¹⁵ If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

DRB ¹⁶ et que quelqu'un d'entre vous leur dise : Allez en paix, chauffez-vous et rassasiez-vous, - et que vous ne leur donniez pas les choses nécessaires pour le corps, quel profit y a-t-il ?

KJV ¹⁶ And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

KJV ¹⁸ Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

DRB ¹⁹ Tu crois que Dieu est un ; tu fais bien : les démons aussi croient, et ils frissonnent.

KJV ¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

DRB ²⁰ Mais veux-tu savoir, ô homme vain, que la foi sans les œuvres est morte* ?

KJV ²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

DRB ²¹ Abraham, notre père, n'a-t-il pas été justifié par des œuvres, ayant offert son fils Isaac sur l'autel ?

KJV ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

DRB ²² Tu vois que la foi agissait avec ses œuvres ; et par les œuvres la foi fut rendue parfaite.

KJV ²² Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

DRB ²³ Et l'écriture a été accomplie qui dit : «Et Abraham crut Dieu, et cela lui fut compté à justice» {Genèse 15:6} ; et il a été appelé ami de Dieu.

KJV ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

DRB ²⁴ Vous voyez qu'un homme est justifié par les œuvres et non par la foi seulement.

KJV ²⁴ Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

DRB ²⁵ Et pareillement Rahab aussi, la prostituée, n'a-t-elle pas été justifiée par les œuvres, ayant reçu les messagers et les ayant mis dehors par un autre chemin ?*

KJV ²⁵ Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

DRB ²⁶ Car comme le corps sans esprit est mort, ainsi aussi la foi sans les œuvres est morte.

KJV ²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
