BCC ¹ Après cela, il y eut une fête des Juifs, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.

BCC ² Or, à Jérusalem, près de la porte des Brebis, il y a une piscine qui s'appelle en hébreu Béthesda, et qui a cinq portiques.

KJV ² Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

BCC ³ Sous ces portiques étaient couchés un grand nombre de malades, d'aveugles, de boiteux et de paralytiques. Ils attendaient le bouillonnement de l'eau.

KJV ³ In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

BCC ⁴ Car un ange du Seigneur descendait à certains temps dans la piscine, et agitait l'eau. Et celui qui y descendait le premier après l'agitation de l'eau, était guéri de son infirmité quelle qu'elle fut.

KJV ⁴ For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

BCC ⁵ Là se trouvait un homme malade depuis trente huit ans.

KJV ⁵ And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

BCC ⁶ Jésus l'ayant vu gisant et sachant qu'il était malade depuis longtemps, lui dit :

KJV ⁶ When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

BCC ⁷ "Veux-tu être guéri ?" Le malade lui répondit : "Seigneur, je n'ai personne pour me jeter dans la piscine dès que l'eau est agitée, et pendant que j'y vais, un autre descend avant moi."

KJV ⁷ The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

BCC ⁸ Jésus lui dit :"Lève-toi, prends ton grabat et marche."

KJV ⁸ Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

BCC ⁹ Et à l'instant cet homme fut guéri ; il prit son grabat et se mit à marcher. C'était un jour de sabbat.

KJV ⁹ And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

BCC ¹⁰ Les Juifs dirent donc à celui qui avait été guéri : "C'est le sabbat, il ne t'es pas permis d'emporter ton grabat."

KJV ¹⁰ The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

BCC ¹¹ Il leur répondit : "Celui qui m'a guéri m'a dit : prends ton grabat et marche."

KJV ¹¹ He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

BCC ¹² Ils lui demandèrent : "Qui est l'homme qui t'a dit : prends ton grabat et marche ?"

KJV ¹² Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

BCC ¹³ Mais celui qui avait été guéri ne savait pas qui c'était ; car Jésus s'était esquivé, grâce à la foule qui était en cet endroit.

KJV ¹³ And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

BCC ¹⁴ Plus tard, Jésus le trouva dans le temple et lui dit : "Te voilà guéri ; ne pèche plus, de peur qu'il ne t'arrive quelque chose de pire."

KJV ¹⁴ Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

BCC ¹⁵ Cet homme s'en alla, et annonça aux Juifs que c'était Jésus qui l'avait guéri.

KJV ¹⁵ The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

BCC ¹⁶ C'est pourquoi ils persécutaient Jésus, parce qu'il faisait ces choses le jour du sabbat.

KJV ¹⁶ And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

BCC ¹⁷ Mais Jésus leur dit : "Mon Père agit jusqu'à présent, et moi aussi j'agis."

KJV ¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

BCC ¹⁸ Sur quoi les Juifs cherchaient encore avec plus d'ardeur à le faire mourir, parce que non content de violer le sabbat, il disait encore que Dieu était son père, se faisant égal à Dieu. Jésus reprit donc la parole et leur dit :

KJV ¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

BCC ¹⁹ "En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de lui-même, mais seulement ce qu'il voit faire au Père ; et tout ce que fait le Père, le Fils aussi le fait pareillement.

KJV ¹⁹ Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

BCC ²⁰ Car le Père aime le Fils, et lui montre tout ce qu'il fait ; et il lui montrera des oeuvres plus grandes que celles-ci, qui vous jetteront dans l'étonnement.

KJV ²⁰ For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

BCC ²¹ Car comme le Père ressuscite les morts et donne la vie, aussi le Fils donne la vie à qui il veut.

KJV ²¹ For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

BCC ²² Le Père lui-même ne juge personne, mais il a donné au Fils le jugement tout entier,

KJV ²² For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

BCC ²³ afin que tous honorent le Fils comme ils honorent le Père. Celui qui n'honore pas le Fils n'honore pas le Père qui l'a envoyé.

KJV ²³ That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

BCC ²⁴ En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui écoute ma parole et croit à celui qui m'a envoyé a la vie éternelle, et n'encourt point la condamnation, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie.

KJV ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

BCC ²⁵ En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, l'heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les morts entendront la voix du Fils de Dieu, et ceux qui l'auront entendue vivront.

KJV ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

KJV ²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

KJV ²⁷ And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

BCC ²⁸ Ne vous en étonnez pas ; car l'heure vient où tous ceux qui sont dans les sépulcres entendront sa voix

KJV ²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

BCC ²⁹ Et ils en sortiront, ceux qui auront fait le bien, pour une résurrection de vie ; ceux qui auront fait le mal, pour une résurrection de condamnation.

KJV ²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

BCC ³⁰ Je ne puis rien faire de moi-même. Selon que j'entends, je juge ; et mon jugement est juste, parce que je ne cherche pas ma propre volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m'a envoyé.

KJV ³⁰ I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

BCC ³¹ Si c'est moi qui rends témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage n'est pas véridique.

KJV ³¹ If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

BCC ³² Il y en a un autre qui rend témoignage de moi, et je sais que le témoignage qu'il rend de moi est véridique.

KJV ³² There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

BCC ³³ Vous avez envoyé vers Jean, et il a rendu témoignage à la vérité.

KJV ³³ Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

BCC ³⁴ Pour moi, ce n'est pas d'un homme que je reçois le témoignage ; mais je dis cela afin que vous soyez sauvés.

KJV ³⁴ But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

BCC ³⁵ Jean était la lampe qui brûle et luit, mais vous n'avez voulu que vous réjouir un moment à sa lumière.

KJV ³⁵ He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

BCC ³⁶ Pour moi, j'ai un témoignage plus grand que celui de Jean ; car les oeuvres que le Père m'a donné d'accomplir, ces oeuvres mêmes que je fais, rendent témoignage de moi, que c'est le Père qui m'a envoyé.

KJV ³⁶ But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

BCC ³⁷ Et le Père qui m'a envoyé a rendu lui-même témoignage de moi. Vous n'avez jamais entendu sa voix, ni vu sa face.

KJV ³⁷ And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

BCC ³⁸ Et vous n'avez point sa parole demeurant en vous, parce que vous ne croyez pas à celui qu'il a envoyé.

KJV ³⁸ And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

BCC ³⁹ Vous scrutez les Écritures, parce que vous pensez trouver en elles la vie éternelle ;

KJV ³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

BCC ⁴⁰ Or, ce sont elles qui rendent témoignage de moi ; et vous ne voulez pas venir à moi pour avoir la vie.

KJV ⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

BCC ⁴¹ Ce n'est point que je demande ma gloire aux hommes.

KJV ⁴¹ I receive not honour from men.

BCC ⁴² Mais je vous connais, je sais que vous n'avez pas en vous l'amour de Dieu.

KJV ⁴² But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

BCC ⁴³ Je suis venu au nom de mon Père, et vous ne me recevez pas ; qu'un autre vienne en son propre nom, et vous le recevrez.

KJV ⁴³ I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

BCC ⁴⁴ Comment pouvez-vous croire, vous qui tirez votre gloire les uns des autres, et qui ne recherchez pas la gloire qui vient de Dieu seul ?

KJV ⁴⁴ How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

BCC ⁴⁵ Ne pensez pas que ce soit moi qui vous accuserai devant le Père ; votre accusateur c'est Moïse, en qui vous avez mis votre espérance.

KJV ⁴⁵ Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

BCC ⁴⁶ Car si vous croyiez Moïse, vous me croiriez aussi, parce qu'il a écrit de moi.

KJV ⁴⁶ For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

BCC ⁴⁷ Mais si vous ne croyez pas à ses écrits, comment croirez-vous à mes paroles ?"

KJV ⁴⁷ But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
