KJV ¹ The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,

S21 ¹ Voici la parole de l'Eternel adressée à Jérémie par l'Eternel.

KJV ² Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

S21 ² «Ecoutez les paroles de cette alliance! Tu les répéteras aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem

KJV ³ And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

S21 ³ et tu leur diras: ‘Voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Maudit soit l'homme qui n'écoute pas les paroles de cette alliance,

KJV ⁴ Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

S21 ⁴ celle que j'ai prescrite à vos ancêtres le jour où je les ai fait sortir d'Egypte, de la fournaise où l'on fait fondre le fer, en disant: Ecoutez ma voix et faites tout ce que je vous ordonnerai, alors vous serez mon peuple et je serai votre Dieu.

KJV ⁵ That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

S21 ⁵ Ainsi, j'accomplirai le serment que j'ai fait à vos ancêtres de leur donner un pays où coulent le lait et le miel comme, vous pouvez le constater, c'est le cas aujourd'hui.'»
J'ai répondu: «Amen, Eternel!»

KJV ⁶ Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

S21 ⁶ L'Eternel m'a dit: «Proclame toutes ces paroles dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem: ‘Ecoutez les paroles de cette alliance et mettez-les en pratique!

KJV ⁷ For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

S21 ⁷ En effet, j'ai plus qu'assez averti vos ancêtres, depuis le jour où je les ai fait sortir d'Egypte jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Je les ai avertis inlassablement en disant: Ecoutez ma voix!

KJV ⁸ Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do: but they did them not.

S21 ⁸ mais ils n'ont pas écouté, ils n'ont pas tendu l'oreille. Ils ont persévéré, chacun, dans les penchants de leur cœur mauvais. Alors j'ai fait en sorte que toutes les paroles de cette alliance s'accomplissent contre eux, ces paroles que je leur avais ordonné de mettre en pratique et qu'ils n'ont pas mises en pratique.'»

KJV ⁹ And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

S21 ⁹ L'Eternel m'a dit: «Il y a une conspiration chez les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁰ They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

S21 ¹⁰ Ils sont retournés aux fautes de leurs ancêtres, qui ont refusé d'écouter mes paroles et qui ont suivi d'autres dieux pour les servir. La communauté d'Israël et celle de Juda ont violé mon alliance, celle que j'avais conclue avec leurs ancêtres.

KJV ¹¹ Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

S21 ¹¹ »C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit l'Eternel: Je vais faire venir sur eux un malheur dont ils ne pourront s'extirper. Ils crieront vers moi, et je ne les écouterai pas.

KJV ¹² Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

S21 ¹² Alors les villes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem iront crier vers les dieux en l'honneur desquels ils font brûler de l'encens, mais ceux-ci ne les sauveront absolument pas quand ils seront dans le malheur.

KJV ¹³ For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

S21 ¹³ Oui, tu as autant de dieux que de villes, Juda! Et autant Jérusalem a de rues, autant vous avez dressé d'autels dédiés à la honte, d'autels pour faire brûler de l'encens en l'honneur de Baal.

KJV ¹⁴ Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

S21 ¹⁴ »Quant à toi, n'intercède pas pour ce peuple, ne fais entendre ni supplications ni prières pour eux, parce que je n'écouterai pas quand ils feront appel à moi à cause de leur malheur.

KJV ¹⁵ What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

S21 ¹⁵ »Que viendrait faire mon bien-aimé dans mon temple,
alors qu'on s'y livre à de nombreuses manigances?
Qu'on enlève la viande sacrée de chez toi,
puisque c'est quand tu fais le mal que tu éprouves de la joie!

KJV ¹⁶ The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

S21 ¹⁶ ‘Olivier verdoyant, magnifique par l'allure de son fruit',
voilà le nom que l'Eternel t'avait donné.
Dans un grand fracas, il lui a mis le feu,
et ses branches ne valent plus rien.

KJV ¹⁷ For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

S21 ¹⁷ L'Eternel, le maître de l'univers, celui qui t'a planté, appelle le malheur sur toi à cause du mal que la communauté d'Israël et celle de Juda se sont fait en m'irritant, en faisant brûler de l'encens en l'honneur de Baal.»

KJV ¹⁸ And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

S21 ¹⁸ L'Eternel me l'a fait savoir, et je l'ai su. «A ce moment-là, tu m'as fait voir leurs agissements.

KJV ¹⁹ But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

S21 ¹⁹ J'étais comme un agneau confiant qu'on conduit à l'abattoir, j'ignorais les projets qu'ils avaient formés contre moi:
‘Détruisons l'arbre avec son fruit!
Supprimons-le de la terre des vivants
et qu'on ne se souvienne plus de son nom!'

KJV ²⁰ But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.

S21 ²⁰ Mais l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers, est un juste juge
qui examine les reins et les cœurs.
Je verrai ta vengeance s'exercer contre eux,
car c'est à toi que j'ai confié ma cause.»

KJV ²¹ Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:

S21 ²¹ «C'est pourquoi, voici ce que dit l'Eternel au sujet des habitants d'Anathoth qui en veulent à ta vie et qui disent: ‘Ne prophétise pas au nom de l'Eternel, sinon tu mourras de nos mains',

KJV ²² Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

S21 ²² voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le maître de l'univers: Je vais intervenir contre eux. Les jeunes hommes mourront par l'épée, leurs fils et leurs filles mourront par la famine.

KJV ²³ And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.

S21 ²³ Il n'y aura aucun survivant, car je ferai venir le malheur sur les habitants d'Anathoth, l'année où j'interviendrai contre eux.»
