BAN ¹ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Va t'acheter une ceinture de lin, et mets-la sur tes reins, mais ne la mets pas dans l'eau.

BAN ² Et je m'achetai la ceinture, selon la parole de l'Eternel, et je la mis sur mes reins.

KJV ² So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

VULC ² Et possedi lumbare juxta verbum Domini, et posui circa lumbos meos.

WLC ² וָאֶקְנֶ֥ה אֶת־ הָאֵז֖וֹר כִּדְבַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה וָאָשִׂ֖ם עַל־ מָתְנָֽי׃

BAN ³ Puis la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée une seconde fois, disant :

KJV ³ And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

VULC ³ Et factus est sermo Domini ad me secundo, dicens :

WLC ³ וַיְהִ֧י דְבַר־ יְהוָ֛ה אֵלַ֖י שֵׁנִ֥ית לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ⁴ Prends la ceinture que tu as achetée, qui est sur tes reins, et lève-toi ; va vers l'Euphrate et l'y cache dans une fente de rocher.

KJV ⁴ Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

VULC ⁴ Tolle lumbare quod possedisti, quod est circa lumbos tuos : et surgens vade ad Euphraten, et absconde ibi illud in foramine petræ.

WLC ⁴ קַ֧ח אֶת־ הָאֵז֛וֹר אֲשֶׁ֥ר קָנִ֖יתָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־ מָתְנֶ֑יךָ וְקוּם֙ לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְטָמְנֵ֥הוּ שָׁ֖ם בִּנְקִ֥יק הַסָּֽלַע׃

BAN ⁵ Et j'allai et je la cachai dans l'Euphrate, comme l'Eternel me l'avait ordonné.

KJV ⁵ So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

VULC ⁵ Et abii, et abscondi illud in Euphrate, sicut præceperat mihi Dominus.

WLC ⁵ וָאֵלֵ֕ךְ וָאֶטְמְנֵ֖הוּ בִּפְרָ֑ת כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אוֹתִֽי׃

BAN ⁶ Et il arriva au bout d'un grand nombre de jours que l'Eternel me dit : Lève-toi, va vers l'Euphrate, et reprends la ceinture que je t'avais commandé d'y cacher.

KJV ⁶ And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

VULC ⁶ Et factum est post dies plurimos, dixit Dominus ad me : Surge, vade ad Euphraten, et tolle inde lumbare quod præcepi tibi ut absconderes illud ibi.

WLC ⁶ וַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י ק֚וּם לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְקַ֤ח מִשָּׁם֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אֵז֔וֹר אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתִ֖יךָ לְטָמְנוֹ־ שָֽׁם׃

BAN ⁷ Et j'allai vers l'Euphrate, je creusai, je repris la ceinture au lieu où je l'avais cachée, et voici, la ceinture était gâtée ; elle n'était plus bonne à rien.

KJV ⁷ Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

BAN ⁸ Et la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée, disant :

KJV ⁸ Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

VULC ⁸ Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :

WLC ⁸ וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־ יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ⁹ Ainsi parle l'Eternel : C'est ainsi que je détruirai l'orgueil de Juda et le grand orgueil de Jérusalem.

KJV ⁹ Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

VULC ⁹ [Hæc dicit Dominus :
Sic putrescere faciam superbiam Juda,
et superbiam Jerusalem multam :

WLC ⁹ כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה כָּ֠כָה אַשְׁחִ֞ית אֶת־ גְּא֧וֹן יְהוּדָ֛ה וְאֶת־ גְּא֥וֹן יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם הָרָֽב׃

BAN ¹⁰ Ce peuple mauvais qui refuse d'écouter mes paroles, qui marche suivant l'endurcissement de son coeur et court après d'autres dieux pour les servir et les adorer, il sera comme cette ceinture qui n'est plus bonne à rien ;

KJV ¹⁰ This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

VULC ¹⁰ populum istum pessimum qui nolunt audire verba mea,
et ambulant in pravitate cordis sui,
abieruntque post deos alienos ut servirent eis et adorarent eos :
et erunt sicut lumbare istud,
quod nulli usui aptum est.

BAN ¹¹ car, comme la ceinture est attachée aux reins d'un homme, ainsi je m'étais attaché toute la maison d'Israël et toute la maison de Juda, dit l'Eternel, afin qu'elles fussent pour-moi un peuple, un nom, un honneur et une gloire ; mais ils n'ont pas obéi.

KJV ¹¹ For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

BAN ¹² Dis-leur ces paroles : Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, Dieu d'Israël : Toute cruche sera remplie de vin. Ils te répondront : Ne savons-nous pas bien que que toute cruche sera remplie de vin ?

KJV ¹² Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

VULC ¹² Dices ergo ad eos sermonem istum : [Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël :
Omnis laguncula implebitur vino.] Et dicent ad te : [Numquid ignoramus quia omnis laguncula implebitur vino ?]

BAN ¹³ Et tu leur diras : Ainsi a parlé l'Eternel : Voici, je vais remplir tous les habitants de ce pays et les rois assis sur le trône de David, les sacrificateurs et les prophètes et tous les habitants de Jérusalem, d'ivresse.

KJV ¹³ Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

BAN ¹⁴ Et je les briserai les uns contre les autres, les pères et les fils ensemble, a dit l'Eternel ; je n'épargnerai pas ; je n'aurai pas de compassion ; je n'aurai pas de pitié pour ne pas les détruire.

KJV ¹⁴ And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

VULC ¹⁴ Et dispergam eos virum a fratre suo,
et patres et filios pariter, ait Dominus.
Non parcam, et non concedam :
neque miserebor, ut non disperdam eos.

WLC ¹⁴ וְנִפַּצְתִּים֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־ אָחִ֜יו וְהָאָב֧וֹת וְהַבָּנִ֛ים יַחְדָּ֖ו נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה לֹֽא־ אֶחְמ֧וֹל וְלֹֽא־ אָח֛וּס וְלֹ֥א אֲרַחֵ֖ם מֵהַשְׁחִיתָֽם׃

BAN ¹⁵ Ecoutez et prêtez l'oreille : ne soyez point orgueilleux, car l'Eternel a parlé.

KJV ¹⁵ Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.

VULC ¹⁵ Audite, et auribus percipite :
nolite elevari, quia Dominus locutus est.

WLC ¹⁵ שִׁמְע֥וּ וְהַאֲזִ֖ינוּ אַל־ תִּגְבָּ֑הוּ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃

BAN ¹⁶ Rendez gloire à l'Eternel votre Dieu, avant qu'il n'amène les ténèbres ; que vos pieds ne se heurtent aux montagnes de la nuit ; qu'il ne fasse de la lumière que vous attendez une ombre de mort ; qu'il ne la change en obscurité noire.

KJV ¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

VULC ¹⁶ Date Domino Deo vestro gloriam
antequam contenebrescat,
et antequam offendant pedes vestri ad montes caliginosos :
exspectabitis lucem,

BAN ¹⁷ Et si vous n'écoutez pas ces choses, mon âme pleurera en secret votre orgueil, mon oeil versera des larmes et se fondra, parce que le troupeau de l'Eternel aura été emmené captif.

KJV ¹⁷ But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.

VULC ¹⁷ Quod si hoc non audieritis,
in abscondito plorabit anima mea a facie superbiæ :
plorans plorabit,
et deducet oculus meus lacrimam,
quia captus est grex Domini.

BAN ¹⁸ Dis au roi et à la reine : Abaissez-vous, asseyez-vous à terre, car votre couronne de gloire tombe de votre tête.

KJV ¹⁸ Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

Humiliamini, sedete,

BAN ¹⁹ Les villes du midi sont fermées, et nul ne les ouvre ; Juda tout entier est déporté, la déportation est complète.

KJV ¹⁹ The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

VULC ¹⁹ Civitates austri clausæ sunt,
et non est qui aperiat :

BAN ²⁰ Elève tes yeux et vois ceux qui viennent du nord : où est le troupeau qui t'avait été donné, les brebis qui faisaient ta gloire ?

KJV ²⁰ Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

VULC ²⁰ Levate oculos vestros et videte,
qui venitis ab aquilone :
ubi est grex qui datus est tibi,
pecus inclytum tuum ?

WLC ²⁰ עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצָּפ֑וֹן אַיֵּ֗ה הָעֵ֙דֶר֙ נִתַּן־ לָ֔ךְ צֹ֖אן תִּפְאַרְתֵּֽךְ׃

BAN ²¹ Que diras-tu, quand l'Eternel t'imposera pour maîtres ceux auxquels tu avais appris tes amours ? Les douleurs ne te saisiront-elles pas comme une femme qui enfante ?

KJV ²¹ What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

VULC ²¹ Quid dices cum visitaverit te ?
tu enim docuisti eos adversum te,
et erudisti in caput tuum.
Numquid non dolores apprehendent te,
quasi mulierem parturientem ?

WLC ²¹ מַה־ תֹּֽאמְרִי֙ כִּֽי־ יִפְקֹ֣ד עָלַ֔יִךְ וְ֠אַתְּ לִמַּ֨דְתְּ אֹתָ֥ם עָלַ֛יִךְ אַלֻּפִ֖ים לְרֹ֑אשׁ הֲל֤וֹא חֲבָלִים֙ יֹאחֱז֔וּךְ כְּמ֖וֹ אֵ֥שֶׁת לֵדָֽה׃

BAN ²² Et si tu dis dans ton coeur : Pourquoi ces choses m'arrivent-elles ? C'est pour la multitude de tes péchés que les pans de ta robe ont été relevés, que tes talons ont été meurtris.

KJV ²² And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

VULC ²² Quod si dixeris in corde tuo : Quare venerunt mihi hæc ?
propter multitudinem iniquitatis tuæ
revelata sunt verecundiora tua,
pollutæ sunt plantæ tuæ.

WLC ²² וְכִ֤י תֹאמְרִי֙ בִּלְבָבֵ֔ךְ מַדּ֖וּעַ קְרָאֻ֣נִי אֵ֑לֶּה בְּרֹ֧ב עֲוֺנֵ֛ךְ נִגְל֥וּ שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ נֶחְמְס֥וּ עֲקֵבָֽיִךְ׃

BAN ²³ Un Maure changera-t-il sa peau, un léopard ses taches ? Alors vous pourrez aussi faire le bien, vous qui êtes appris à mal faire.

KJV ²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

VULC ²³ Si mutare potest Æthiops pellem suam,
aut pardus varietates suas,
et vos poteritis benefacere,
cum didiceritis malum.

BAN ²⁴ Aussi les disperserai-je, comme la balle emportée par le vent du désert.

KJV ²⁴ Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

VULC ²⁴ Et disseminabo eos quasi stipulam
quæ vento raptatur in deserto.

WLC ²⁴ וַאֲפִיצֵ֖ם כְּקַשׁ־ עוֹבֵ֑ר לְר֖וּחַ מִדְבָּֽר׃

BAN ²⁵ Tel est ton sort, ta portion mesurée par moi, dit l'Eternel, parce que tu m'as oublié, que tu t'es confiée au mensonge.

KJV ²⁵ This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

VULC ²⁵ Hæc sors tua,
parsque mensuræ tuæ a me, dicit Dominus,
quia oblita es mei,
et confisa es in mendacio.

WLC ²⁵ זֶ֣ה גוֹרָלֵ֧ךְ מְנָת־ מִדַּ֛יִךְ מֵֽאִתִּ֖י נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁכַ֣חַתְּ אוֹתִ֔י וַֽתִּבְטְחִ֖י בַּשָּֽׁקֶר׃

BAN ²⁶ Et moi aussi je retrousserai les pans de ta robe sur ton visage, et l'on verra ta honte,

KJV ²⁶ Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.

VULC ²⁶ Unde et ego nudavi femora tua contra faciem tuam,
et apparuit ignominia tua :

WLC ²⁶ וְגַם־ אֲנִ֛י חָשַׂ֥פְתִּי שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ עַל־ פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְנִרְאָ֖ה קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃

BAN ²⁷ tes adultères, tes hennissements, l'horreur de tes impudicités, sur toutes les hauteurs de la campagne. J'ai vu tes abominations. Malheur à toi, Jérusalem ! Tu ne seras pas purifiée, après combien de temps encore ?

KJV ²⁷ I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

super colles in agro vidi abominationes tuas.
