WLC ¹ כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֨ר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י הָל֞וֹךְ וְקָנִ֤יתָ לְּךָ֙ אֵז֣וֹר פִּשְׁתִּ֔ים וְשַׂמְתּ֖וֹ עַל־ מָתְנֶ֑יךָ וּבַמַּ֖יִם לֹ֥א תְבִאֵֽהוּ׃

KJV ² So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

S21 ² J'ai acheté la ceinture, conformément à la parole de l'Eternel, et je l'ai mise autour de ma taille.

KJV ³ And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

S21 ³ La parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée une deuxième fois:

KJV ⁴ Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

S21 ⁴ «Prends la ceinture que tu as achetée, qui est autour de ta taille, puis lève-toi, va vers l'Euphrate et là-bas cache-la dans la fente d'un rocher.»

WLC ⁴ קַ֧ח אֶת־ הָאֵז֛וֹר אֲשֶׁ֥ר קָנִ֖יתָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־ מָתְנֶ֑יךָ וְקוּם֙ לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְטָמְנֵ֥הוּ שָׁ֖ם בִּנְקִ֥יק הַסָּֽלַע׃

KJV ⁵ So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

S21 ⁵ J'y suis allé et l'ai cachée près de l'Euphrate, comme l'Eternel me l'avait ordonné.

WLC ⁵ וָאֵלֵ֕ךְ וָאֶטְמְנֵ֖הוּ בִּפְרָ֑ת כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אוֹתִֽי׃

KJV ⁶ And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

S21 ⁶ Après bien des jours, l'Eternel m'a dit: «Lève-toi, va vers l'Euphrate et là-bas reprends la ceinture que je t'avais ordonné de cacher.»

WLC ⁶ וַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י ק֚וּם לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְקַ֤ח מִשָּׁם֙ אֶת־ הָ֣אֵז֔וֹר אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתִ֖יךָ לְטָמְנוֹ־ שָֽׁם׃

KJV ⁷ Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

S21 ⁷ Je suis retourné vers l'Euphrate, j'ai fouillé et j'ai repris la ceinture à l'endroit où je l'avais cachée, mais voici que la ceinture était abîmée, elle n'était plus bonne à rien.

KJV ⁸ Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

KJV ⁹ Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

S21 ⁹ «Voici ce que dit l'Eternel: C'est ainsi que je détruirai l'orgueil de Juda et l'orgueil immense de Jérusalem.

WLC ⁹ כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה כָּ֠כָה אַשְׁחִ֞ית אֶת־ גְּא֧וֹן יְהוּדָ֛ה וְאֶת־ גְּא֥וֹן יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם הָרָֽב׃

KJV ¹⁰ This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

S21 ¹⁰ Ce méchant peuple refuse d'écouter mes paroles, il persévère dans les penchants de son cœur et suit d'autres dieux pour les servir et se prosterner devant eux. Il deviendra pareil à cette ceinture, qui n'est plus bonne à rien.

WLC ¹⁰ הָעָם֩ הַזֶּ֨ה הָרָ֜ע הַֽמֵּאֲנִ֣ים ׀ לִשְׁמ֣וֹעַ אֶת־ דְּבָרַ֗י הַהֹֽלְכִים֙ בִּשְׁרִר֣וּת לִבָּ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֗וּ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים לְעָבְדָ֖ם וּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֣ת לָהֶ֑ם וִיהִי֙ כָּאֵז֣וֹר הַזֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־ יִצְלַ֖ח לַכֹּֽל׃

KJV ¹¹ For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

S21 ¹¹ En effet, de même qu'une ceinture est attachée à la taille d'un homme, de même je m'étais attaché toute la communauté d'Israël et toute celle de Juda, déclare l'Eternel, afin qu'elles soient mon peuple, ma réputation, ma gloire et mon honneur, mais elles ne m'ont pas écouté.

KJV ¹² Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

S21 ¹² »Tu leur diras cette parole: ‘Voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Toutes les outres seront remplies de vin.' Et ils te diront: ‘Nous savons bien que toutes les outres seront remplies de vin!'

KJV ¹³ Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

S21 ¹³ Alors tu leur diras: ‘Voici ce que dit l'Eternel: Je vais remplir d'ivresse tous les habitants de ce pays, les rois qui sont assis sur le trône de David, les prêtres, les prophètes et tous les habitants de Jérusalem.

WLC ¹³ וְאָמַרְתָּ֨ אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה הִנְנִ֣י מְמַלֵּ֣א אֶת־ כָּל־ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֪רֶץ הַזֹּ֟את וְאֶת־ הַמְּלָכִ֣ים הַיֹּשְׁבִים֩ לְדָוִ֨ד עַל־ כִּסְא֜וֹ וְאֶת־ הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְאֶת־ הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־ יֹשְׁבֵ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִָ֖ם שִׁכָּרֽוֹן׃

KJV ¹⁴ And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

S21 ¹⁴ Je les fracasserai les uns contre les autres, les pères et les fils ensemble, déclare l'Eternel. Je ne les épargnerai pas, je n'aurai aucune pitié, aucune compassion, rien ne m'empêchera de les détruire.'

WLC ¹⁴ וְנִפַּצְתִּים֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־ אָחִ֜יו וְהָאָב֧וֹת וְהַבָּנִ֛ים יַחְדָּ֖ו נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה לֹֽא־ אֶחְמ֧וֹל וְלֹֽא־ אָח֛וּס וְלֹ֥א אֲרַחֵ֖ם מֵהַשְׁחִיתָֽם׃

KJV ¹⁵ Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.

S21 ¹⁵ »Ecoutez et prêtez l'oreille,
ne soyez pas orgueilleux,
car c'est l'Eternel qui a parlé.

WLC ¹⁵ שִׁמְע֥וּ וְהַאֲזִ֖ינוּ אַל־ תִּגְבָּ֑הוּ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃

KJV ¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

S21 ¹⁶ Rendez gloire à l'Eternel, votre Dieu,
avant qu'il ne fasse venir les ténèbres,
avant que vos pieds ne se blessent sur les montagnes, la nuit tombée.
Vous attendrez la lumière,
mais il l'aura changée en ombre de la mort,
il instaurera d'épaisses ténèbres.

WLC ¹⁶ תְּנוּ֩ לַיהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֤ם כָּבוֹד֙ בְּטֶ֣רֶם יַחְשִׁ֔ךְ וּבְטֶ֛רֶם יִֽתְנַגְּפ֥וּ רַגְלֵיכֶ֖ם עַל־ הָ֣רֵי נָ֑שֶׁף וְקִוִּיתֶ֤ם לְאוֹר֙ וְשָׂמָ֣הּ לְצַלְמָ֔וֶת לַעֲרָפֶֽל׃

KJV ¹⁷ But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.

S21 ¹⁷ Si vous n'écoutez pas cela,
je pleurerai en secret, à cause de votre orgueil.
Mes yeux pleureront abondamment,
ils verseront des larmes,
parce que le troupeau de l'Eternel sera emmené prisonnier.

WLC ¹⁷ וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תִשְׁמָע֔וּהָ בְּמִסְתָּרִ֥ים תִּבְכֶּֽה־ נַפְשִׁ֖י מִפְּנֵ֣י גֵוָ֑ה וְדָמֹ֨עַ תִּדְמַ֜ע וְתֵרַ֤ד עֵינִי֙ דִּמְעָ֔ה כִּ֥י נִשְׁבָּ֖ה עֵ֥דֶר יְהוָֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

car il est tombé de vos têtes,
le diadème qui faisait votre gloire.

KJV ¹⁹ The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

il n'y a plus personne pour les ouvrir.
Tout Juda a été exilé,
il a été totalement exilé.

KJV ²⁰ Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

S21 ²⁰ Levez vos yeux et regardez

Où est le troupeau qui t'avait été donné,
le petit bétail qui faisait ta gloire?'

WLC ²⁰ עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצָּפ֑וֹן אַיֵּ֗ה הָעֵ֙דֶר֙ נִתַּן־ לָ֔ךְ צֹ֖אן תִּפְאַרְתֵּֽךְ׃

KJV ²¹ What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

S21 ²¹ »Que diras-tu quand ils interviendront contre toi?
C'est toi-même qui leur as appris à agir en maîtres à tes dépens!
Les souffrances ne s'empareront-elles pas de toi,
pareilles à celles d'une femme prête à accoucher?

WLC ²¹ מַה־ תֹּֽאמְרִי֙ כִּֽי־ יִפְקֹ֣ד עָלַ֔יִךְ וְ֠אַתְּ לִמַּ֨דְתְּ אֹתָ֥ם עָלַ֛יִךְ אַלֻּפִ֖ים לְרֹ֑אשׁ הֲל֤וֹא חֲבָלִים֙ יֹאחֱז֔וּךְ כְּמ֖וֹ אֵ֥שֶׁת לֵדָֽה׃

KJV ²² And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

S21 ²² Peut-être te demandes-tu:
‘Pourquoi cela m'est-il arrivé?'
C'est à cause du grand nombre de tes fautes
que les pans de ton habit sont relevés
et que tes talons sont traités avec violence.

WLC ²² וְכִ֤י תֹאמְרִי֙ בִּלְבָבֵ֔ךְ מַדּ֖וּעַ קְרָאֻ֣נִי אֵ֑לֶּה בְּרֹ֧ב עֲוֺנֵ֛ךְ נִגְל֥וּ שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ נֶחְמְס֥וּ עֲקֵבָֽיִךְ׃

KJV ²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

S21 ²³ Un Ethiopien peut-il changer sa peau,
et un léopard ses taches?
De même, pourriez-vous faire le bien,
vous qui êtes habitués à faire le mal?

WLC ²³ הֲיַהֲפֹ֤ךְ כּוּשִׁי֙ עוֹר֔וֹ וְנָמֵ֖ר חֲבַרְבֻּרֹתָ֑יו גַּם־ אַתֶּם֙ תּוּכְל֣וּ לְהֵיטִ֔יב לִמֻּדֵ֖י הָרֵֽעַ׃

KJV ²⁴ Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

KJV ²⁵ This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

l'issue que je t'ai réservée,
déclare l'Eternel,
parce que tu m'as oublié
et que tu as mis ta confiance dans des faussetés.

WLC ²⁵ זֶ֣ה גוֹרָלֵ֧ךְ מְנָת־ מִדַּ֛יִךְ מֵֽאִתִּ֖י נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁכַ֣חַתְּ אוֹתִ֔י וַֽתִּבְטְחִ֖י בַּשָּֽׁקֶר׃

KJV ²⁶ Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.

S21 ²⁶ Moi aussi, je retrousse les pans de ton habit jusqu'à ton visage,
afin que ton déshonneur soit flagrant.

WLC ²⁶ וְגַם־ אֲנִ֛י חָשַׂ֥פְתִּי שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ עַל־ פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְנִרְאָ֖ה קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃

KJV ²⁷ I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

S21 ²⁷ J'ai vu tes adultères et tes hennissements de plaisir,
tes scandaleuses prostitutions sur les collines et dans les champs,
j'ai vu tes monstruosités.
Malheur à toi, Jérusalem!
Combien de temps encore resteras-tu impure?»

WLC ²⁷ נִֽאֻפַ֤יִךְ וּמִצְהֲלוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ זִמַּ֣ת זְנוּתֵ֔ךְ עַל־ גְּבָעוֹת֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה רָאִ֖יתִי שִׁקּוּצָ֑יִךְ א֥וֹי לָךְ֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם לֹ֣א תִטְהֲרִ֔י אַחֲרֵ֥י מָתַ֖י עֹֽד׃
