BAN ¹ Et l'Eternel me dit : Quand Moïse et Samuel se tiendraient devant moi, mon âme ne reviendrait pas vers ce peuple ; chasse-les de devant ma face et qu'ils partent !

KJV ¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

BAN ² Et s'ils te disent : Où irons-nous ? tu leur diras : Ainsi parle l'Eternel : Celui qui est pour la mort, à la mort ; celui qui est pour l'épée, à l'épée ; celui qui est pour la famine, à la famine, et celui qui est pour la captivité, à la captivité.

KJV ² And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

VULC ² Quod si dixerint ad te : Quo egrediemur ?
dices ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus :
Qui ad mortem, ad mortem,

BAN ³ Et j'enverrai sur eux quatre familles, dit l'Eternel : l'épée pour tuer, les chiens pour déchirer, les oiseaux des cieux et les bêtes de la terre pour dévorer et pour détruire.

KJV ³ And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

VULC ³ Et visitabo super eos quatuor species, dicit Dominus :
gladium ad occisionem,
et canes ad lacerandum,
et volatilia cæli et bestias terræ
ad devorandum et dissipandum.

BAN ⁴ Et je les livrerai aux outrages de tous les royaumes de la terre, à cause de Manassé, fils d'Ezéchias, roi de Juda, pour tout ce qu'il a fait dans Jérusalem.

KJV ⁴ And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.

VULC ⁴ Et dabo eos in fervorem universis regnis terræ,
propter Manassen filium Ezechiæ regis Juda,
super omnibus quæ fecit in Jerusalem.

BAN ⁵ Qui donc aura pitié de toi, Jérusalem ? qui s'émouvra pour toi qui se détournera de sa route pour s'informer de ton état ?

KJV ⁵ For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

VULC ⁵ Quis enim miserebitur tui, Jerusalem,
aut quis contristabitur pro te ?
aut quis ibit ad rogandum pro pace tua ?

BAN ⁶ Tu m'as repoussé, dit l'Eternel, pour te retirer en arrière, et j'ai étendu ma main sur toi pour te faire périr ; je suis las de me repentir.

KJV ⁶ Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.

VULC ⁶ Tu reliquisti me, dicit Dominus ;
retrorsum abiisti :
et extendam manum meam super te, et interficiam te :
laboravi rogans.

BAN ⁷ Je les vannerai avec le van aux portes de la terre, je les priverai d'enfants, je ferai périr mon peuple ; ils ne reviennent pas de leurs voies !

KJV ⁷ And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people since they return not from their ways.

VULC ⁷ Et dispergam eos ventilabro in portis terræ :
interfeci et disperdidi populum meum,
et tamen a viis suis non sunt reversi.

BAN ⁸ Ses veuves seront plus nombreuses devant moi que le sable de la mer. Je susciterai contre eux, sur la mère du jeune homme, le dévastateur en plein midi ; je ferai fondre subitement sur elle l'angoisse et l'épouvante.

KJV ⁸ Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

VULC ⁸ Multiplicatæ sunt mihi viduæ ejus super arenam maris :
induxi eis super matrem adolescentis vastatorem meridie :
misi super civitates repente terrorem.

BAN ⁹ La mère de sept fils s'affaisse ; elle rend l'âme ; son soleil se couche pendant qu'il est jour encore ; elle est confuse, couverte de honte. Et leurs restes, je les livrerai à l'épée de leurs ennemis, dit l'Eternel.

BAN ¹⁰ Malheur à moi, ô ma mère, parce que tu m'as enfanté, moi, homme de contestations, homme de querelles pour tout le pays ! Je n'ai rien prêté et ils ne m'ont rien prêté, et tous me maudissent !

KJV ¹⁰ Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.

VULC ¹⁰ [Væ mihi, mater mea ! quare genuisti me,
virum rixæ, virum discordiæ in universa terra ?
Non fœneravi, nec fœneravit mihi quisquam :
omnes maledicunt mihi.

BAN ¹¹ L'Eternel a dit : Si je ne t'affermis pas pour ton bien ; si je ne t'amène ton ennemi en suppliant au temps du malheur et au temps de la détresse... !

KJV ¹¹ The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.

BAN ¹⁴ et je les ferai passer avec tes ennemis dans un pays que tu ne connais pas ; car un feu s'est allumé dans mes narines ; il brûlera sur vous.

BAN ¹⁹ C'est pourquoi l'Eternel parle ainsi : Si tu reviens à moi, je te ramènerai, tu te tiendras devant ma face ; et si tu sépares ce qui est précieux de ce qui est vil, tu seras comme ma bouche ; ils reviendront à toi et tu ne retourneras pas vers eux.

BAN ²⁰ Et je ferai de toi, pour ce peuple, une muraille d'airain, fortifiée ; ils te feront la guerre et ils ne pourront rien sur toi, car je serai avec toi pour te secourir et te délivrer, a dit l'Eternel.

KJV ²⁰ And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

VULC ²⁰ Et dabo te populo huic in murum æreum fortem :
et bellabunt adversum te, et non prævalebunt,
quia ego tecum sum ut salvem te, et eruam te, dicit Dominus :

BAN ²¹ Je te délivrerai de la main des méchants, et je te rachèterai de la main des violents.

KJV ²¹ And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

et redimam te de manu fortium.]
