BAN ¹ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel. : Descends à la maison du roi de Juda, et là tu prononceras ces paroles,

KJV ¹ Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

WLC ¹ כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה רֵ֖ד בֵּֽית־ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ שָׁ֔ם אֶת־ הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃

BAN ² et tu diras : Ecoute la parole de l'Eternel, roi de Juda, assis sur le trône de David, toi et tes serviteurs et ton peuple qui passe par ces portes ;

KJV ² And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

WLC ² וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ שְׁמַ֣ע דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֔ה מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה הַיֹּשֵׁ֖ב עַל־ כִּסֵּ֣א דָוִ֑ד אַתָּ֤ה וַעֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ וְעַמְּךָ֔ הַבָּאִ֖ים בַּשְּׁעָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

BAN ³ ainsi parle l'Eternel : Faites droit et justice ; arrachez le misérable aux mains de celui qui l'opprime ; n'accablez pas, ne violentez pas l'étranger, l'orphelin ni la veuve, et ne versez pas le sang innocent dans ce lieu.

KJV ³ Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

WLC ³ כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה עֲשׂ֤וּ מִשְׁפָּט֙ וּצְדָקָ֔ה וְהַצִּ֥ילוּ גָז֖וּל מִיַּ֣ד עָשׁ֑וֹק וְגֵר֩ יָת֨וֹם וְאַלְמָנָ֤ה אַל־ תֹּנוּ֙ אַל־ תַּחְמֹ֔סוּ וְדָ֣ם נָקִ֔י אַֽל־ תִּשְׁפְּכ֖וּ בַּמָּק֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

BAN ⁴ Car, si vous faites bien ce que je vous dis, il entrera par les portes de cette maison des rois assis sur le trône de David, montés sur des chars et des chevaux, chacun d'eux avec ses serviteurs et son peuple.

KJV ⁴ For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

WLC ⁴ כִּ֤י אִם־ עָשׂוֹ֙ תַּֽעֲשׂ֔וּ אֶת־ הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּ֑ה וּבָ֣אוּ בְשַׁעֲרֵ֣י הַבַּ֣יִת הַזֶּ֡ה מְלָכִים֩ יֹשְׁבִ֨ים לְדָוִ֜ד עַל־ כִּסְא֗וֹ רֹֽכְבִים֙ בָּרֶ֣כֶב וּבַסּוּסִ֔ים ה֥וּא וְעַמּֽוֹ׃

BAN ⁵ Mais si vous n'écoutez point ces paroles, je jure par moi-même, dit l'Eternel, que cette maison deviendra une ruine.

KJV ⁵ But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

WLC ⁵ וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תִשְׁמְע֔וּ אֶת־ הַדְּבָרִ֖ים הָאֵ֑לֶּה בִּ֤י נִשְׁבַּ֙עְתִּי֙ נְאֻם־ יְהוָ֔ה כִּי־ לְחָרְבָּ֥ה יִֽהְיֶ֖ה הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה׃

BAN ⁶ Car ainsi parle l'Eternel touchant la maison du roi de Juda : Tu es pour moi un Galaad, le sommet du Liban. Si je ne fais de toi un désert, des villes inhabitées !

KJV ⁶ For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

WLC ⁶ כִּֽי־ כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה עַל־ בֵּית֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה גִּלְעָ֥ד אַתָּ֛ה לִ֖י רֹ֣אשׁ הַלְּבָנ֑וֹן אִם־ לֹ֤א אֲשִֽׁיתְךָ֙ מִדְבָּ֔ר עָרִ֖ים לֹ֥א

BAN ⁷ Je sacre tes destructeurs, chacun avec ses outils ; ils couperont tes cèdres de choix et les jetteront au feu ;

KJV ⁷ And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

WLC ⁷ וְקִדַּשְׁתִּ֥י עָלֶ֛יךָ מַשְׁחִתִ֖ים אִ֣ישׁ וְכֵלָ֑יו וְכָֽרְתוּ֙ מִבְחַ֣ר אֲרָזֶ֔יךָ וְהִפִּ֖ילוּ עַל־ הָאֵֽשׁ׃

BAN ⁸ et de nombreuses nations passeront sur cette ville et se diront l'une à l'autre : Pourquoi l'Eternel a-t-il fait cela à cette grande ville ?

KJV ⁸ And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

WLC ⁸ וְעָֽבְרוּ֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים עַ֖ל הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֑את וְאָֽמְרוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל־ רֵעֵ֔הוּ עַל־ מֶ֨ה עָשָׂ֤ה יְהוָה֙ כָּ֔כָה לָעִ֥יר הַגְּדוֹלָ֖ה הַזֹּֽאת׃

BAN ⁹ Et on dira : Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'alliance de l'Eternel, leur Dieu ; ils se sont prosternés devant d'autres dieux et ils les ont servis.

KJV ⁹ Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

WLC ⁹ וְאָ֣מְר֔וּ עַ֚ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָֽזְב֔וּ אֶת־ בְּרִ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֛וּ לֵאלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִ֖ים וַיַּעַבְדֽוּם׃

BAN ¹⁰ Ne pleurez point celui qui est mort, et ne vous affligez pas à cause de lui ; pleurez, pleurez celui qui s'en est allé, car il ne reviendra plus et ne reverra pas le pays de sa naissance !

KJV ¹⁰ Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

WLC ¹⁰ אַל־ תִּבְכּ֣וּ לְמֵ֔ת וְאַל־ תָּנֻ֖דוּ ל֑וֹ בְּכ֤וּ בָכוֹ֙ לַֽהֹלֵ֔ךְ כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָשׁוּב֙ ע֔וֹד וְרָאָ֖ה אֶת־ אֶ֥רֶץ מוֹלַדְתּֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹¹ Car ainsi parle l'Eternel touchant Sallum, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, qui a régné à la place de Josias, son père, et qui est sorti de ce lieu : Il n'y reviendra plus.

KJV ¹¹ For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

WLC ¹¹ כִּ֣י כֹ֣ה אָֽמַר־ יְ֠הוָה אֶל־ שַׁלֻּ֨ם בֶּן־ יֹאשִׁיָּ֜הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה הַמֹּלֵךְ֙ תַּ֚חַת יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ אָבִ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָצָ֖א מִן־ הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה לֹֽא־ יָשׁ֥וּב שָׁ֖ם עֽוֹד׃

BAN ¹² Au lieu où on l'a emmené il mourra, et il ne reverra plus ce pays-ci.

KJV ¹² But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

WLC ¹² כִּ֗י בִּמְק֛וֹם אֲשֶׁר־ הִגְל֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ שָׁ֣ם יָמ֑וּת וְאֶת־ הָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את לֹֽא־ יִרְאֶ֥ה עֽוֹד׃

BAN ¹³ Malheur à celui qui bâtit sa maison sans justice et ses étages sans droit, qui fait travailler son prochain pour rien et ne lui paie pas son ouvrage ;

KJV ¹³ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

WLC ¹³ ה֣וֹי בֹּנֶ֤ה בֵיתוֹ֙ בְּֽלֹא־ צֶ֔דֶק וַעֲלִיּוֹתָ֖יו בְּלֹ֣א מִשְׁפָּ֑ט בְּרֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ יַעֲבֹ֣ד חִנָּ֔ם וּפֹעֲל֖וֹ לֹ֥א יִתֶּן־ לֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁴ qui dit : Je me bâtirai une maison vaste et des chambres spacieuses ; j'y perce beaucoup de fenêtres, je la couvre de cèdre et je la peins au vermillon !

KJV ¹⁴ That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

WLC ¹⁴ הָאֹמֵ֗ר אֶבְנֶה־ לִּי֙ בֵּ֣ית מִדּ֔וֹת וַעֲלִיּ֖וֹת מְרֻוָּחִ֑ים וְקָ֤רַֽע לוֹ֙ חַלּוֹנָ֔י וְסָפ֣וּן בָּאָ֔רֶז וּמָשׁ֖וֹחַ בַּשָּׁשַֽׁר׃

BAN ¹⁵ Es-tu roi, parce que tu as la passion du cèdre ? Ton père n'a-t-il pas mangé et bu ? Il faisait droit et justice, et tout allait bien pour lui ;

KJV ¹⁵ Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

WLC ¹⁵ הֲתִֽמְלֹ֔ךְ כִּ֥י אַתָּ֖ה מְתַחֲרֶ֣ה בָאָ֑רֶז אָבִ֜יךָ הֲל֧וֹא אָכַ֣ל וְשָׁתָ֗ה וְעָשָׂ֤ה מִשְׁפָּט֙ וּצְדָקָ֔ה אָ֖ז ט֥וֹב לֽוֹ׃

BAN ¹⁶ il jugeait la cause du malheureux et du pauvre, et tout allait bien ; n'est-ce pas là me connaître, dit l'Eternel ?

KJV ¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

WLC ¹⁶ דָּ֛ן דִּין־ עָנִ֥י וְאֶבְי֖וֹן אָ֣ז ט֑וֹב הֲלוֹא־ הִ֛יא הַדַּ֥עַת אֹתִ֖י נְאֻם־ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁷ Mais tes yeux et ton coeur ne visent qu'à la rapine, au sang innocent pour le répandre, à l'oppression et aux pillages pour les commettre.

KJV ¹⁷ But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

WLC ¹⁷ כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין עֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ וְלִבְּךָ֔ כִּ֖י אִם־ עַל־ בִּצְעֶ֑ךָ וְעַ֤ל דַּֽם־ הַנָּקִי֙ לִשְׁפּ֔וֹךְ וְעַל־ הָעֹ֥שֶׁק וְעַל־ הַמְּרוּצָ֖ה לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

BAN ¹⁸ C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle l'Eternel touchant Jéhojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda : On ne le pleurera pas : Hélas, mon frère ! hélas, ma soeur !
On ne pleurera pas sur lui en disant : Hélas, seigneur ! hélas, majesté !

KJV ¹⁸ Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

WLC ¹⁸ לָכֵ֞ן כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה אֶל־ יְהוֹיָקִ֤ים בֶּן־ יֹאשִׁיָּ֙הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה לֹא־ יִסְפְּד֣וּ ל֔וֹ ה֥וֹי אָחִ֖י וְה֣וֹי אָח֑וֹת לֹא־ יִסְפְּד֣וּ ל֔וֹ ה֥וֹי אָד֖וֹן וְה֥וֹי הֹדֹֽה׃

BAN ¹⁹ Il sera enterré comme on enterre un âne, traîné et jeté en dehors des portes de Jérusalem.

KJV ¹⁹ He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

WLC ¹⁹ קְבוּרַ֥ת חֲמ֖וֹר יִקָּבֵ֑ר סָח֣וֹב וְהַשְׁלֵ֔ךְ מֵהָ֖לְאָה לְשַׁעֲרֵ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

BAN ²⁰ Monte au Liban et crie ; élève ta voix en Basan et crie du haut d'Abarim, car tous tes amants sont brisés !

KJV ²⁰ Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

WLC ²⁰ עֲלִ֤י הַלְּבָנוֹן֙ וּֽצְעָ֔קִי וּבַבָּשָׁ֖ן תְּנִ֣י קוֹלֵ֑ךְ וְצַֽעֲקִי֙ מֵֽעֲבָרִ֔ים כִּ֥י נִשְׁבְּר֖וּ כָּל־ מְאַהֲבָֽיִךְ׃

BAN ²¹ Je t'ai parlé pendant tes prospérités ; tu as dit : Je n'écouterai pas. C'est là ta conduite dès ta jeunesse ; tu n'as point écouté ma voix !

KJV ²¹ I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

WLC ²¹ דִּבַּ֤רְתִּי אֵלַ֙יִךְ֙ בְּשַׁלְוֺתַ֔יִךְ אָמַ֖רְתְּ לֹ֣א אֶשְׁמָ֑ע זֶ֤ה דַרְכֵּךְ֙ מִנְּעוּרַ֔יִךְ כִּ֥י לֹֽא־ שָׁמַ֖עַתְּ בְּקוֹלִֽי׃

BAN ²² Car le vent emportera tes pasteurs et tes amants s'en iront en captivité ; alors tu seras couverte de honte et d'ignominie pour toute ta méchanceté.

KJV ²² The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

WLC ²² כָּל־ רֹעַ֙יִךְ֙ תִּרְעֶה־ ר֔וּחַ וּֽמְאַהֲבַ֖יִךְ בַּשְּׁבִ֣י יֵלֵ֑כוּ כִּ֣י אָ֤ז תֵּבֹ֙שִׁי֙ וְנִכְלַ֔מְתְּ מִכֹּ֖ל רָעָתֵֽךְ׃

BAN ²³ Toi qui habites au Liban, qui as placé ton aire dans les cèdres, comme tu gémiras, quand surviendront pour toi des douleurs, des maux tels que ceux d'une femme en travail !

KJV ²³ O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

WLC ²³ בַּלְּבָנ֔וֹן בָּֽאֲרָזִ֑ים מַה־ נֵּחַנְתְּ֙ בְּבֹא־ לָ֣ךְ חֲבָלִ֔ים חִ֖יל כַּיֹּלֵדָֽה׃

BAN ²⁴ Je suis vivant, dit l'Eternel, quand Conia, fils de Jéhojakim, roi de Juda, serait un anneau à ma main droite, je t'arracherais de là !

KJV ²⁴ As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

WLC ²⁴ חַי־ אָנִי֮ נְאֻם־ יְהוָה֒ כִּ֣י אִם־ יִהְיֶ֞ה כָּנְיָ֤הוּ בֶן־ יְהֽוֹיָקִים֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה חוֹתָ֖ם עַל־ יַ֣ד יְמִינִ֑י כִּ֥י מִשָּׁ֖ם אֶתְּקֶֽנְךָּ׃

BAN ²⁵ Je te livrerai aux mains de ceux qui en veulent à ta vie, aux mains de ceux dont tu as peur, aux mains de Nébucadretsar, roi de Babylone, et aux mains des Chaldéens ;

KJV ²⁵ And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

WLC ²⁵ וּנְתַתִּ֗יךָ בְּיַד֙ מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י נַפְשֶׁ֔ךָ וּבְיַ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־ אַתָּ֥ה יָג֖וֹר מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וּבְיַ֛ד נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֥ר מֶֽלֶךְ־ בָּבֶ֖ל וּבְיַ֥ד הַכַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

BAN ²⁶ et je te jetterai, toi et ta mère qui t'a mis au monde, dans un autre pays où vous n'êtes pas nés, et où vous mourrez.

KJV ²⁶ And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

WLC ²⁶ וְהֵֽטַלְתִּ֣י אֹתְךָ֗ וְאֶֽת־ אִמְּךָ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְלָדַ֔תְךָ עַ֚ל הָאָ֣רֶץ אַחֶ֔רֶת אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־ יֻלַּדְתֶּ֖ם שָׁ֑ם וְשָׁ֖ם תָּמֽוּתוּ׃

BAN ²⁷ Et au pays où de toute leur âme ils désireront revenir, ils n'y reviendront pas.

KJV ²⁷ But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

WLC ²⁷ וְעַל־ הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־ הֵ֛ם מְנַשְּׂאִ֥ים אֶת־ נַפְשָׁ֖ם לָשׁ֣וּב שָׁ֑ם שָׁ֖מָּה לֹ֥א יָשֽׁוּבוּ׃

BAN ²⁸ Est-ce un vase méprisé et brisé, que cet homme-là, Conia, ou un ustensile de rebut, qu'on les ait jetés, lui et sa race, et relégués dans une terre qu'ils ne connaissaient point ?

KJV ²⁸ Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

WLC ²⁸ הַעֶ֨צֶב נִבְזֶ֜ה נָפ֗וּץ הָאִ֤ישׁ הַזֶּה֙ כָּנְיָ֔הוּ אִ֨ם־ כְּלִ֔י אֵ֥ין חֵ֖פֶץ בּ֑וֹ מַדּ֤וּעַ הֽוּטֲלוּ֙ ה֣וּא וְזַרְע֔וֹ וְהֻ֨שְׁלְכ֔וּ עַל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־ יָדָֽעוּ׃

BAN ²⁹ Terre, terre, terre, écoute la parole de l'Eternel !

KJV ²⁹ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

WLC ²⁹ אֶ֥רֶץ אֶ֖רֶץ אָ֑רֶץ שִׁמְעִ֖י דְּבַר־ יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ³⁰ Ainsi a dit l'Eternel : Inscrivez cet homme comme stérile, tel qu'un homme qui ne réussit pas dans ses jours, car nul de sa race ne réussira à s'asseoir sur le trône de David pour régner encore sur Juda !

KJV ³⁰ Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

WLC ³⁰ כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה כִּתְב֞וּ אֶת־ הָאִ֤ישׁ הַזֶּה֙ עֲרִירִ֔י גֶּ֖בֶר לֹא־ יִצְלַ֣ח בְּיָמָ֑יו כִּי֩ לֹ֨א יִצְלַ֜ח מִזַּרְע֗וֹ אִ֚ישׁ יֹשֵׁב֙ עַל־ כִּסֵּ֣א דָוִ֔ד וּמֹשֵׁ֥ל ע֖וֹד בִּיהוּדָֽה׃
