BCC ¹ Au commencement du règne de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, cette parole fut adressée de la part de Jéhovah :

WLC ¹ בְּרֵאשִׁ֗ית מַמְלְכ֛וּת יְהוֹיָקִ֥ים בֶּן־ יֹאשִׁיָּ֖הוּ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה הָיָה֙ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה מֵאֵ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃

BCC ² Ainsi parle Jéhovah : Tiens-toi dans le parvis de la maison de Jéhovah, et dis à ceux de toutes les villes de Juda qui viennent adorer dans la maison de Jéhovah toutes les paroles que je te commande de leur dire ; n'en retranche pas un mot.

KJV ² Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

WLC ² כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה עֲמֹד֮ בַּחֲצַ֣ר בֵּית־ יְהוָה֒ וְדִבַּרְתָּ֞ עַל־ כָּל־ עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה הַבָּאִים֙ לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺ֣ת בֵּית־ יְהוָ֔ה אֵ֚ת כָּל־ הַדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתִ֖יךָ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם אַל־ תִּגְרַ֖ע דָּבָֽר׃

BCC ³ Peut-être écouteront-ils et reviendront-ils chacun de sa mauvaise voie, alors je me repentirai du mal que j'ai dessein de leur faire à cause de la méchanceté de leurs actions.

KJV ³ If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.

VULC ³ si forte audiant, et convertantur unusquisque a via sua mala, et pœniteat me mali quod cogito facere eis propter malitiam studiorum eorum.

WLC ³ אוּלַ֣י יִשְׁמְע֔וּ וְיָשֻׁ֕בוּ אִ֖ישׁ מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ הָרָעָ֑ה וְנִחַמְתִּ֣י אֶל־ הָרָעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָנֹכִ֤י חֹשֵׁב֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָהֶ֔ם מִפְּנֵ֖י רֹ֥עַ מַעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃

BCC ⁴ Tu leur diras : ainsi parle Jéhovah : Si vous ne m'obéissez pas, en suivant la loi que j'ai mise devant vous,

KJV ⁴ And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,

VULC ⁴ Et dices ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus : Si non audieritis me, ut ambuletis in lege mea quam dedi vobis,

WLC ⁴ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה אִם־ לֹ֤א תִשְׁמְעוּ֙ אֵלַ֔י לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ בְּת֣וֹרָתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶֽם׃

BCC ⁵ en écoutant les paroles de mes serviteurs les prophètes que j'envoie vers vous, que j'ai envoyés dès le matin, et que vous n'avez pas écoutés,

KJV ⁵ To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;

VULC ⁵ ut audiatis sermones servorum meorum prophetarum quos ego misi ad vos, de nocte consurgens, et dirigens, et non audistis :

WLC ⁵ לִשְׁמֹ֗עַ עַל־ דִּבְרֵ֨י עֲבָדַ֣י הַנְּבִאִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָנֹכִ֖י שֹׁלֵ֣חַ אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם וְהַשְׁכֵּ֥ם וְשָׁלֹ֖חַ וְלֹ֥א שְׁמַעְתֶּֽם׃

BCC ⁶ je traiterai cette maison comme Silo, et je ferai de cette ville un objet de malédiction pour toutes les nations de la terre.

KJV ⁶ Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

VULC ⁶ dabo domum istam sicut Silo, et urbem hanc dabo in maledictionem cunctis gentibus terræ.

WLC ⁶ וְנָתַתִּ֛י אֶת־ הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּ֖ה כְּשִׁלֹ֑ה וְאֶת־ הָעִ֤יר אֶתֵּ֣ן לִקְלָלָ֔ה לְכֹ֖ל גּוֹיֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃

BCC ⁷ Les prêtres, les prophètes et tout le peuple entendirent Jérémie prononcer ces paroles dans la maison de Jéhovah.

KJV ⁷ So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

VULC ⁷ Et audierunt sacerdotes, et prophetæ, et omnis populus, Jeremiam loquentem verba hæc in domo Domini.

WLC ⁷ וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֛וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֥ים וְהַנְּבִאִ֖ים וְכָל־ הָעָ֑ם אֶֽת־ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ מְדַבֵּ֛ר אֶת־ הַדְּבָרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ⁸ Et quand Jérémie eut achevé de dire tout ce que Jéhovah lui avait commandé de dire à tout le peuple ; les prêtres, les prophètes et tout le peuple se saisirent de lui, en disant :

KJV ⁸ Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.

VULC ⁸ Cumque complesset Jeremias, loquens omnia quæ præceperat ei Dominus ut loqueretur ad universum populum, apprehenderunt eum sacerdotes, et prophetæ, et omnis populus, dicens : Morte moriatur.

WLC ⁸ וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כְּכַלּ֣וֹת יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ לְדַבֵּר֙ אֵ֣ת כָּל־ אֲשֶׁר־ צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה לְדַבֵּ֖ר אֶל־ כָּל־ הָעָ֑ם וַיִּתְפְּשׂ֨וּ אֹת֜וֹ הַכֹּהֲנִ֧ים וְהַנְּבִאִ֛ים וְכָל־ הָעָ֥ם לֵאמֹ֖ר מ֥וֹת תָּמֽוּת׃

BCC ⁹ "Tu mourras ! Pourquoi prophétises-tu au nom de Jéhovah en disant : "Cette maison sera comme Silo, et cette ville sera dévastée et sans habitants ?" ‒ Et tout le peuple se rassembla autour de lui dans la maison de Jéhovah.

KJV ⁹ Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

VULC ⁹ Quare prophetavit in nomine Domini, dicens : Sicut Silo erit domus hæc, et urbs ista desolabitur eo quod non sit habitator ? Et congregatus est omnis populus adversus Jeremiam in domo Domini.

WLC ⁹ מַדּוּעַ֩ נִבֵּ֨יתָ בְשֵׁם־ יְהוָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר כְּשִׁלוֹ֙ יִֽהְיֶה֙ הַבַּ֣יִת הַזֶּ֔ה וְהָעִ֥יר הַזֹּ֛את תֶּחֱרַ֖ב מֵאֵ֣ין יוֹשֵׁ֑ב וַיִּקָּהֵ֧ל כָּל־ הָעָ֛ם אֶֽל־ יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

BCC ¹⁰ Les princes de Juda ayant appris ces choses, montèrent de la maison du roi à la maison de Jéhovah, et s'assirent à l'entrée de la porte neuve.

KJV ¹⁰ When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD's house.

VULC ¹⁰ Et audierunt principes Juda verba hæc, et ascenderunt de domo regis in domum Domini, et sederunt in introitu portæ domus Domini novæ.

WLC ¹⁰ וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ ׀ שָׂרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה אֵ֚ת הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַיַּעֲל֥וּ מִבֵּית־ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַיֵּֽשְׁב֛וּ בְּפֶ֥תַח שַֽׁעַר־ יְהוָ֖ה הֶחָדָֽשׁ׃

BCC ¹¹ Alors les prêtres et les prophètes dirent aux princes et à tout le peuple : cet homme mérite la mort, car il a prophétisé contre cette ville, comme vous l'avez entendu de vos propres oreilles.

KJV ¹¹ Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.

VULC ¹¹ Et locuti sunt sacerdotes et prophetæ ad principes, et ad omnem populum, dicentes : Judicium mortis est viro huic, quia prophetavit adversus civitatem istam, sicut audistis auribus vestris.

WLC ¹¹ וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים וְהַנְּבִאִים֙ אֶל־ הַשָּׂרִ֔ים וְאֶל־ כָּל־ הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר מִשְׁפַּט־ מָ֙וֶת֙ לָאִ֣ישׁ הַזֶּ֔ה כִּ֤י נִבָּא֙ אֶל־ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁמַעְתֶּ֖ם בְּאָזְנֵיכֶֽם׃

BCC ¹² Jérémie parla à tous les princes et à tout le peuple en disant : "c'est Jéhovah qui m'a envoyé prophétiser contre cette maison et contre cette ville toutes les choses que vous avez entendues.

KJV ¹² Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.

VULC ¹² Et ait Jeremias ad omnes principes, et ad universum populum, dicens : Dominus misit me ut prophetarem ad domum istam, et ad civitatem hanc, omnia verba quæ audistis.

WLC ¹² וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙ אֶל־ כָּל־ הַשָּׂרִ֔ים וְאֶל־ כָּל־ הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹ֑ר יְהוָ֣ה שְׁלָחַ֗נִי לְהִנָּבֵ֞א אֶל־ הַבַּ֤יִת הַזֶּה֙ וְאֶל־ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את אֵ֥ת כָּל־ הַדְּבָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁמַעְתֶּֽם׃

BCC ¹³ Maintenant corrigez vos voies et vos oeuvres et écoutez la voix de Jéhovah, votre Dieu, et Jéhovah se repentira du mal qu'il a prononcé contre vous.

KJV ¹³ Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

VULC ¹³ Nunc ergo bonas facite vias vestras et studia vestra, et audite vocem Domini Dei vestri, et pœnitebit Dominum mali quod locutus est adversum vos.

WLC ¹³ וְעַתָּ֗ה הֵיטִ֤יבוּ דַרְכֵיכֶם֙ וּמַ֣עַלְלֵיכֶ֔ם וְשִׁמְע֕וּ בְּק֖וֹל יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְיִנָּחֵ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הָ֣רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

BCC ¹⁴ Pour moi, me voici entre vos mains ; faites de moi ce qui vous paraîtra bon et juste.

KJV ¹⁴ As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.

VULC ¹⁴ Ego autem ecce in manibus vestris sum : facite mihi quod bonum et rectum est in oculis vestris.

WLC ¹⁴ וַאֲנִ֖י הִנְנִ֣י בְיֶדְכֶ֑ם עֲשׂוּ־ לִ֛י כַּטּ֥וֹב וְכַיָּשָׁ֖ר בְּעֵינֵיכֶֽם׃

BCC ¹⁵ Seulement sachez que si vous me faites mourir, vous mettrez un sang innocent sur vous, sur cette ville et ses habitants, car il est véritable que Jéhovah m'a envoyé vers vous pour faire entendre à vos oreilles toutes ces paroles."

KJV ¹⁵ But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

BCC ¹⁶ Alors les princes et tout le peuple dirent aux prêtres et aux prophètes : "Cet homme ne mérite pas la mort, car c'est au nom de Jéhovah, notre Dieu qu'il nous a parlé."

KJV ¹⁶ Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

VULC ¹⁶ Et dixerunt principes et omnis populus ad sacerdotes et ad prophetas : Non est viro huic judicium mortis, quia in nomine Domini Dei nostri locutus est ad nos.

BCC ¹⁷ Et quelques-uns des anciens du pays, s'étant levés, dirent à toute l'assemblée du peuple :

WLC ¹⁷ וַיָּקֻ֣מוּ אֲנָשִׁ֔ים מִזִּקְנֵ֖י הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ אֶל־ כָּל־ קְהַ֥ל הָעָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃

BCC ¹⁸ "Michée de Morescheth prophétisait au temps d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda, et il parla ainsi à tout le peuple de Juda : ainsi parle Jéhovah des armées : Sion sera labourée comme un champ ; Jérusalem deviendra un monceau de ruines, et la montagne du temple une colline boisée.

KJV ¹⁸ Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

WLC ¹⁸ הַמּ֣וֹרַשְׁתִּ֔י הָיָ֣ה נִבָּ֔א בִּימֵ֖י חִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־ כָּל־ עַם֩ יְהוּדָ֨ה לֵאמֹ֜ר כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר ׀ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת צִיּ֞וֹן שָׂדֶ֤ה תֵֽחָרֵשׁ֙ וִירוּשָׁלַ֙יִם֙ עִיִּ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה וְהַ֥ר הַבַּ֖יִת לְבָמ֥וֹת יָֽעַר׃

BCC ¹⁹ Ézéchias, roi de Juda, et tout Juda l'ont-ils fait mourir ? Ézéchias, n'a-t-il pas craint Jéhovah ? n'a-t-il pas imploré Jéhovah ? Et Jéhovah s'est repenti de ce qu'il avait prononcé contre eux. Et nous, nous commettrions un grand crime au préjudice de nos âmes ?"

KJV ¹⁹ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.

VULC ¹⁹ Numquid morte condemnavit eum Ezechias rex Juda, et omnis Juda ? numquid non timuerunt Dominum, et deprecati sunt faciem Domini, et pœnituit Dominum mali quod locutus fuerat adversum eos ? Itaque nos facimus malum grande contra animas nostras.

WLC ¹⁹ הֶהָמֵ֣ת הֱ֠מִתֻהוּ חִזְקִיָּ֨הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־ יְהוּדָ֜ה וְכָל־ יְהוּדָ֗ה הֲלֹא֮ יָרֵ֣א אֶת־ יְהוָה֒ וַיְחַל֙ אֶת־ פְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־ הָרָעָ֖ה אֲשֶׁר־ דִּבֶּ֣ר עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַאֲנַ֗חְנוּ עֹשִׂ֛ים רָעָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה עַל־ נַפְשׁוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

BCC ²⁰ Il y eut aussi un homme qui prophétisait au nom de Jéhovah, Urie, fils de Séméï, de Cariathiarim ; il prophétisa contre cette ville et contre ce pays exactement les mêmes choses que Jérémie.

KJV ²⁰ And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.

VULC ²⁰ Fuit quoque vir prophetans in nomine Domini, Urias filius Semei de Cariathiarim, et prophetavit adversus civitatem istam, et adversus terram hanc, juxta omnia verba Jeremiæ.

WLC ²⁰ וְגַם־ אִ֗ישׁ הָיָ֤ה מִתְנַבֵּא֙ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה אֽוּרִיָּ֙הוּ֙ בֶּֽן־ שְׁמַעְיָ֔הוּ מִקִּרְיַ֖ת הַיְּעָרִ֑ים וַיִּנָּבֵ֞א עַל־ הָעִ֤יר הַזֹּאת֙ וְעַל־ הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את כְּכֹ֖ל דִּבְרֵ֥י יִרְמְיָֽהוּ׃

BCC ²¹ Le roi Joakim, tous ses hommes vaillants et tous ses princes entendirent ses paroles, et le roi chercha à la faire mourir. Urie en fut informé ; il en eut peur et s'enfuit en Égypte.

KJV ²¹ And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;

VULC ²¹ Et audivit rex Joakim, et omnes potentes et principes ejus, verba hæc, et quæsivit rex interficere eum : et audivit Urias, et timuit, fugitque, et ingressus est Ægyptum.

WLC ²¹ וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־ יְ֠הוֹיָקִים וְכָל־ גִּבּוֹרָ֤יו וְכָל־ הַשָּׂרִים֙ אֶת־ דְּבָרָ֔יו וַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ הֲמִית֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע אוּרִיָּ֙הוּ֙ וַיִּרָ֔א וַיִּבְרַ֖ח וַיָּבֹ֥א מִצְרָֽיִם׃

BCC ²² Mais le roi Joakim envoya des hommes en Égypte, Elnathan et d'autres avec lui.

KJV ²² And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt.

VULC ²² Et misit rex Joakim viros in Ægyptum, Elnathan filium Achobor, et viros cum eo, in Ægyptum,

WLC ²² וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ יְהוֹיָקִ֛ים אֲנָשִׁ֖ים מִצְרָ֑יִם אֵ֣ת אֶלְנָתָ֧ן בֶּן־ עַכְבּ֛וֹר וַאֲנָשִׁ֥ים אִתּ֖וֹ אֶל־ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

BCC ²³ Ils firent sortir Urie d'Égypte et l'emmenèrent au roi Joakim, qui le fit périr par l'épée et jeta son cadavre dans les sépulcres du commun peuple.

KJV ²³ And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.

VULC ²³ et eduxerunt Uriam de Ægypto, et adduxerunt eum ad regem Joakim, et percussit eum gladio, et projecit cadaver ejus in sepulchris vulgi ignobilis.

WLC ²³ וַיּוֹצִ֨יאוּ אֶת־ אוּרִיָּ֜הוּ מִמִּצְרַ֗יִם וַיְבִאֻ֙הוּ֙ אֶל־ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ יְהוֹיָקִ֔ים וַיַּכֵּ֖הוּ בֶּחָ֑רֶב וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ֙ אֶת־ נִבְלָת֔וֹ אֶל־ קִבְרֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י הָעָֽם׃

BCC ²⁴ Or la main d'Ahicam, fils de Saphan, soutint Jérémie, en sorte qu'il ne fut pas livré au peuple pour être mis à mort.

KJV ²⁴ Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
