BCC ¹ Alors Job prit la parole et dit :

KJV ¹ Then Job answered and said,

WLC ¹ וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

BCC ² Jusques à quand affligerez-vous mon âme, et m'accablerez-vous de vos discours ?

KJV ² How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

WLC ² עַד־ אָ֭נָה תּוֹגְי֣וּן נַפְשִׁ֑י וּֽתְדַכְּאוּנַ֥נִי בְמִלִּֽים׃

BCC ³ Voilà dix fois que vous m'insultez, que vous m'outragez sans pudeur.

KJV ³ These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

WLC ³ זֶ֤ה עֶ֣שֶׂר פְּ֭עָמִים תַּכְלִימ֑וּנִי לֹֽא־ תֵ֝בֹ֗שׁוּ תַּהְכְּרוּ־ לִֽי׃

BCC ⁴ Quand même j'aurais failli, c'est avec moi que demeure ma faute.

KJV ⁴ And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

WLC ⁴ וְאַף־ אָמְנָ֥ם שָׁגִ֑יתִי אִ֝תִּ֗י תָּלִ֥ין מְשׁוּגָתִֽי׃

BCC ⁵ Mais vous, qui vous élevez contre moi, qui invoquez mon opprobre pour me convaincre,

KJV ⁵ If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

WLC ⁵ אִם־ אָ֭מְנָם עָלַ֣י תַּגְדִּ֑ילוּ וְתוֹכִ֥יחוּ עָ֝לַ֗י חֶרְפָּתִּֽי׃

BCC ⁶ sachez enfin que c'est Dieu qui m'opprime, et qui m'enveloppe de son filet.

KJV ⁶ Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

WLC ⁶ דְּֽעוּ־ אֵ֭פוֹ כִּי־ אֱל֣וֹהַּ עִוְּתָ֑נִי וּ֝מְצוּד֗וֹ עָלַ֥י הִקִּֽיף׃

BCC ⁷ Voici que je crie à la violence, et nul ne me répond ! J'en appelle, et point de justice !

KJV ⁷ Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

WLC ⁷ הֵ֤ן אֶצְעַ֣ק חָ֭מָס וְלֹ֣א אֵעָנֶ֑ה אֲ֝שַׁוַּ֗ע וְאֵ֣ין מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

BCC ⁸ Il m'a barré le chemin, et je ne puis passer : il a répandu les ténèbres sur mes sentiers.

KJV ⁸ He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

WLC ⁸ אָרְחִ֣י גָ֭דַר וְלֹ֣א אֶעֱב֑וֹר וְעַ֥ל נְ֝תִיבוֹתַ֗י חֹ֣שֶׁךְ יָשִֽׂים׃

BCC ⁹ Il m'a dépouillé de ma gloire, il a enlevé la couronne de ma tête.

KJV ⁹ He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

WLC ⁹ כְּ֭בוֹדִי מֵעָלַ֣י הִפְשִׁ֑יט וַ֝יָּ֗סַר עֲטֶ֣רֶת רֹאשִֽׁי׃

BCC ¹⁰ Il m'a sapé tout à l'entour, et je tombe ; il a déraciné, comme un arbre, mon espérance.

KJV ¹⁰ He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

WLC ¹⁰ יִתְּצֵ֣נִי סָ֭בִיב וָאֵלַ֑ךְ וַיַּסַּ֥ע כָּ֝עֵ֗ץ תִּקְוָתִֽי׃

BCC ¹¹ Sa colère s'est allumée contre moi ; il m'a traité comme ses ennemis.

KJV ¹¹ He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

WLC ¹¹ וַיַּ֣חַר עָלַ֣י אַפּ֑וֹ וַיַּחְשְׁבֵ֖נִי ל֣וֹ כְצָרָֽיו׃

BCC ¹² Ses bataillons sont venus ensemble, ils se sont frayés un chemin jusqu'à moi, ils font le siège de ma tente.

KJV ¹² His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

WLC ¹² יַ֤חַד ׀ יָ֘בֹ֤אוּ גְדוּדָ֗יו וַיָּסֹ֣לּוּ עָלַ֣י דַּרְכָּ֑ם וַיַּחֲנ֖וּ סָבִ֣יב לְאָהֳלִֽי׃

BCC ¹³ Il a éloigné de moi mes frères ; mes amis se sont détournés de moi.

KJV ¹³ He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

WLC ¹³ אַ֭חַי מֵעָלַ֣י הִרְחִ֑יק וְ֝יֹדְעַ֗י אַךְ־ זָ֥רוּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

BCC ¹⁴ Mes proches m'ont abandonné, mes intimes m'ont oublié.

KJV ¹⁴ My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

WLC ¹⁴ חָדְל֥וּ קְרוֹבָ֑י וּֽמְיֻדָּעַ֥י שְׁכֵחֽוּנִי׃

BCC ¹⁵ Les hôtes de ma maison et mes servantes me traitent comme un étranger ; je suis un inconnu à leurs yeux.

KJV ¹⁵ They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

WLC ¹⁵ גָּ֘רֵ֤י בֵיתִ֣י וְ֭אַמְהֹתַי לְזָ֣ר תַּחְשְׁבֻ֑נִי נָ֝כְרִ֗י הָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃

BCC ¹⁶ J'appelle mon serviteur, et il ne me répond pas je suis réduit à le supplier de ma bouche.

KJV ¹⁶ I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

WLC ¹⁶ לְעַבְדִּ֣י קָ֭רָאתִי וְלֹ֣א יַעֲנֶ֑ה בְּמוֹ־ פִ֝֗י אֶתְחַנֶּן־ לֽוֹ׃

BCC ¹⁷ Ma femme a horreur de mon haleine, je demande grâce aux fils de mon sein.

KJV ¹⁷ My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.

WLC ¹⁷ ר֭וּחִֽי זָ֣רָה לְאִשְׁתִּ֑י וְ֝חַנֹּתִ֗י לִבְנֵ֥י בִטְנִֽי׃

BCC ¹⁸ Les enfants eux-mêmes me méprisent ; si je me lève, ils me raillent.

KJV ¹⁸ Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

WLC ¹⁸ גַּם־ עֲ֭וִילִים מָ֣אֲסוּ בִ֑י אָ֝ק֗וּמָה וַיְדַבְּרוּ־ בִֽי׃

BCC ¹⁹ Tous ceux qui étaient mes confidents m'ont en horreur, ceux que j'aimais se tournent contre moi.

KJV ¹⁹ All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

WLC ¹⁹ תִּֽ֭עֲבוּנִי כָּל־ מְתֵ֣י סוֹדִ֑י וְזֶֽה־ אָ֝הַ֗בְתִּי נֶהְפְּכוּ־ בִֽי׃

BCC ²⁰ Mes os sont attachés à ma peau et à ma chair, je me suis échappé avec la peau de mes dents.

KJV ²⁰ My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

WLC ²⁰ בְּעוֹרִ֣י וּ֭בִבְשָׂרִי דָּבְקָ֣ה עַצְמִ֑י וָ֝אֶתְמַלְּטָ֗ה בְּע֣וֹר שִׁנָּֽי׃

BCC ²¹ Ayez pitié, ayez pitié de moi, vous du moins, mes amis, car la main de Dieu m'a frappé !

KJV ²¹ Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

WLC ²¹ חָנֻּ֬נִי חָנֻּ֣נִי אַתֶּ֣ם רֵעָ֑י כִּ֥י יַד־ אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ נָ֣גְעָה בִּֽי׃

BCC ²² Pourquoi me poursuivez-vous, comme Dieu me poursuit ? Pourquoi êtes-vous insatiables de ma chair ?

KJV ²² Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

WLC ²² לָ֭מָּה תִּרְדְּפֻ֣נִי כְמוֹ־ אֵ֑ל וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י לֹ֣א תִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃

BCC ²³ Oh ! Qui me donnera que mes paroles soient écrites ! Qui me donnera qu'elles soient consignées dans un livre,

KJV ²³ Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

WLC ²³ מִֽי־ יִתֵּ֣ן אֵ֭פוֹ וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן מִלָּ֑י מִֽי־ יִתֵּ֖ן בַּסֵּ֣פֶר וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃

BCC ²⁴ qu'avec un burin de fer et du plomb, elles soient pour toujours gravées dans le roc !

KJV ²⁴ That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

WLC ²⁴ בְּעֵט־ בַּרְזֶ֥ל וְעֹפָ֑רֶת לָ֝עַ֗ד בַּצּ֥וּר יֵחָצְבֽוּן׃

BCC ²⁵ Je sais que mon vengeur est vivant, et qu'il se lèvera le dernier sur la poussière.

KJV ²⁵ For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

WLC ²⁵ וַאֲנִ֣י יָ֭דַעְתִּי גֹּ֣אֲלִי חָ֑י וְ֝אַחֲר֗וֹן עַל־ עָפָ֥ר יָקֽוּם׃

BCC ²⁶ Alors de ce squelette, revêtu de sa peau, de ma chair je verrai Dieu.

KJV ²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

WLC ²⁶ וְאַחַ֣ר ע֭וֹרִֽי נִקְּפוּ־ זֹ֑את וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י אֶֽחֱזֶ֥ה אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃

BCC ²⁷ Moi-même je le verrai ; mes yeux le verront, et non un autre ; mes reins se consument d'attente au-dedans de moi.

KJV ²⁷ Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

WLC ²⁷ אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִ֨י ׀ אֶֽחֱזֶה־ לִּ֗י וְעֵינַ֣י רָא֣וּ וְלֹא־ זָ֑ר כָּל֖וּ כִלְיֹתַ֣י בְּחֵקִֽי׃

BCC ²⁸ Vous direz alors : "Pourquoi le poursuivions-nous ?" et la justice de ma cause sera reconnue.

KJV ²⁸ But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

WLC ²⁸ כִּ֣י תֹ֭אמְרוּ מַה־ נִּרְדָּף־ ל֑וֹ וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ דָּ֝בָ֗ר נִמְצָא־ בִֽי׃

BCC ²⁹ Ce jour-là, craignez pour vous le glaive : terribles sont les vengeances du glaive ! Et vous saurez qu'il y a une justice.

KJV ²⁹ Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

WLC ²⁹ גּ֤וּרוּ לָכֶ֨ם ׀ מִפְּנֵי־ חֶ֗רֶב כִּֽי־ חֵ֭מָה עֲוֺנ֣וֹת חָ֑רֶב לְמַ֖עַן תֵּדְע֣וּן
