WLC ¹ וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

KJV ² How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

OST ² Jusques à quand affligerez-vous mon âme, et m'accablerez-vous de paroles?

WLC ² עַד־ אָ֭נָה תּוֹגְי֣וּן נַפְשִׁ֑י וּֽתְדַכְּאוּנַ֥נִי בְמִלִּֽים׃

KJV ³ These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

OST ³ Voilà déjà dix fois que vous m'outragez: vous n'avez pas honte de me maltraiter?

WLC ³ זֶ֤ה עֶ֣שֶׂר פְּ֭עָמִים תַּכְלִימ֑וּנִי לֹֽא־ תֵ֝בֹ֗שׁוּ תַּהְכְּרוּ־ לִֽי׃

KJV ⁴ And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

OST ⁴ Vraiment si j'ai failli, ma faute demeure avec moi.

WLC ⁴ וְאַף־ אָמְנָ֥ם שָׁגִ֑יתִי אִ֝תִּ֗י תָּלִ֥ין מְשׁוּגָתִֽי׃

KJV ⁵ If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

OST ⁵ Si vraiment vous vous élevez contre moi, si vous me reprochez l'opprobre où je me trouve,

WLC ⁵ אִם־ אָ֭מְנָם עָלַ֣י תַּגְדִּ֑ילוּ וְתוֹכִ֥יחוּ עָ֝לַ֗י חֶרְפָּתִּֽי׃

KJV ⁶ Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

OST ⁶ Sachez donc que c'est Dieu qui m'a fait tort, et qui a tendu ses filets autour de moi.

WLC ⁶ דְּֽעוּ־ אֵ֭פוֹ כִּי־ אֱל֣וֹהַּ עִוְּתָ֑נִי וּ֝מְצוּד֗וֹ עָלַ֥י הִקִּֽיף׃

KJV ⁷ Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

OST ⁷ Voici, je crie à la violence, et on ne me répond pas; je crie au secours, et il n'y a point de justice!

WLC ⁷ הֵ֤ן אֶצְעַ֣ק חָ֭מָס וְלֹ֣א אֵעָנֶ֑ה אֲ֝שַׁוַּ֗ע וְאֵ֣ין מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

KJV ⁸ He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

OST ⁸ Il a fermé mon chemin, et je ne puis passer; il a mis des ténèbres sur mes sentiers.

WLC ⁸ אָרְחִ֣י גָ֭דַר וְלֹ֣א אֶעֱב֑וֹר וְעַ֥ל נְ֝תִיבוֹתַ֗י חֹ֣שֶׁךְ יָשִֽׂים׃

KJV ⁹ He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

OST ⁹ Il m'a dépouillé de ma gloire; il a ôté la couronne de ma tête.

WLC ⁹ כְּ֭בוֹדִי מֵעָלַ֣י הִפְשִׁ֑יט וַ֝יָּ֗סַר עֲטֶ֣רֶת רֹאשִֽׁי׃

KJV ¹⁰ He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

OST ¹⁰ Il m'a détruit de tous côtés, et je m'en vais; il a arraché, comme un arbre, mon espérance.

WLC ¹⁰ יִתְּצֵ֣נִי סָ֭בִיב וָאֵלַ֑ךְ וַיַּסַּ֥ע כָּ֝עֵ֗ץ תִּקְוָתִֽי׃

KJV ¹¹ He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

WLC ¹¹ וַיַּ֣חַר עָלַ֣י אַפּ֑וֹ וַיַּחְשְׁבֵ֖נִי ל֣וֹ כְצָרָֽיו׃

KJV ¹² His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

OST ¹² Ses troupes sont venues ensemble; elles ont dressé contre moi leurs chaussées, et se sont campées autour de ma tente.

WLC ¹² יַ֤חַד ׀ יָ֘בֹ֤אוּ גְדוּדָ֗יו וַיָּסֹ֣לּוּ עָלַ֣י דַּרְכָּ֑ם וַיַּחֲנ֖וּ סָבִ֣יב לְאָהֳלִֽי׃

KJV ¹³ He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

OST ¹³ Il a éloigné de moi mes frères, et ceux qui me connaissaient se sont écartés comme des étrangers;

WLC ¹³ אַ֭חַי מֵעָלַ֣י הִרְחִ֑יק וְ֝יֹדְעַ֗י אַךְ־ זָ֥רוּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

KJV ¹⁴ My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

OST ¹⁴ Mes proches m'ont abandonné, et mes connaissances m'ont oublié.

WLC ¹⁴ חָדְל֥וּ קְרוֹבָ֑י וּֽמְיֻדָּעַ֥י שְׁכֵחֽוּנִי׃

KJV ¹⁵ They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

KJV ¹⁶ I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

KJV ¹⁷ My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.

KJV ¹⁸ Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

KJV ¹⁹ All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

KJV ²⁰ My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

OST ²⁰ Mes os se sont attachés à ma peau et à ma chair, et je me suis échappé avec la peau de mes dents.

WLC ²⁰ בְּעוֹרִ֣י וּ֭בִבְשָׂרִי דָּבְקָ֣ה עַצְמִ֑י וָ֝אֶתְמַלְּטָ֗ה בְּע֣וֹר שִׁנָּֽי׃

KJV ²¹ Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

OST ²¹ Ayez pitié de moi, ayez pitié de moi, vous, mes amis! Car la main de Dieu m'a frappé.

WLC ²¹ חָנֻּ֬נִי חָנֻּ֣נִי אַתֶּ֣ם רֵעָ֑י כִּ֥י יַד־ אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ נָ֣גְעָה בִּֽי׃

KJV ²² Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

OST ²² Pourquoi me persécutez-vous comme Dieu, et ne pouvez-vous vous rassasier de ma chair?

WLC ²² לָ֭מָּה תִּרְדְּפֻ֣נִי כְמוֹ־ אֵ֑ל וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י לֹ֣א תִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃

KJV ²³ Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

OST ²³ Oh! je voudrais que mes paroles fussent écrites quelque part! Je voudrais qu'elles fussent inscrites dans un livre;

WLC ²³ מִֽי־ יִתֵּ֣ן אֵ֭פוֹ וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן מִלָּ֑י מִֽי־ יִתֵּ֖ן בַּסֵּ֣פֶר וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃

KJV ²⁴ That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

OST ²⁴ Qu'avec un burin de fer et avec du plomb, elles fussent gravées sur le roc, pour toujours!

WLC ²⁴ בְּעֵט־ בַּרְזֶ֥ל וְעֹפָ֑רֶת לָ֝עַ֗ד בַּצּ֥וּר יֵחָצְבֽוּן׃

KJV ²⁵ For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

OST ²⁵ Pour moi, je sais que mon Rédempteur est vivant, qu'à la fin il se lèvera sur la terre,

WLC ²⁵ וַאֲנִ֣י יָ֭דַעְתִּי גֹּ֣אֲלִי חָ֑י וְ֝אַחֲר֗וֹן עַל־ עָפָ֥ר יָקֽוּם׃

KJV ²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

OST ²⁶ Et qu'après cette peau qui se détruit, et hors de ma chair, je verrai Dieu;

WLC ²⁶ וְאַחַ֣ר ע֭וֹרִֽי נִקְּפוּ־ זֹ֑את וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י אֶֽחֱזֶ֥ה אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃

KJV ²⁷ Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

OST ²⁷ Moi, je le verrai, à moi propice; mes yeux le verront, et non un autre. Mes reins se consument en mon sein!

WLC ²⁷ אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִ֨י ׀ אֶֽחֱזֶה־ לִּ֗י וְעֵינַ֣י רָא֣וּ וְלֹא־ זָ֑ר כָּל֖וּ כִלְיֹתַ֣י בְּחֵקִֽי׃

KJV ²⁸ But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

OST ²⁸ Si vous dites: Comment le poursuivrons-nous, et trouverons-nous en lui la cause de son malheur?

WLC ²⁸ כִּ֣י תֹ֭אמְרוּ מַה־ נִּרְדָּף־ ל֑וֹ וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ דָּ֝בָ֗ר נִמְצָא־ בִֽי׃

KJV ²⁹ Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

OST ²⁹ Craignez l'épée pour vous-mêmes, car la fureur est un crime digne de l'épée, afin que vous sachiez qu'il y a un jugement.

WLC ²⁹ גּ֤וּרוּ לָכֶ֨ם ׀ מִפְּנֵי־ חֶ֗רֶב כִּֽי־ חֵ֭מָה עֲוֺנ֣וֹת חָ֑רֶב לְמַ֖עַן תֵּדְע֣וּן
