KJV ¹ But Job answered and said,

WLC ¹ וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

KJV ² How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?

VULC ² [Cujus adjutor es ? numquid imbecillis ?
et sustentas brachium ejus qui non est fortis ?

WLC ² מֶה־ עָזַ֥רְתָּ לְלֹא־ כֹ֑חַ ה֝וֹשַׁ֗עְתָּ זְר֣וֹעַ לֹא־ עֹֽז׃

KJV ³ How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?

VULC ³ Cui dedisti consilium ?
forsitan illi qui non habet sapientiam :
et prudentiam tuam ostendisti plurimam.

WLC ³ מַה־ יָּ֭עַצְתָּ לְלֹ֣א חָכְמָ֑ה וְ֝תוּשִׁיָּ֗ה לָרֹ֥ב הוֹדָֽעְתָּ׃

KJV ⁴ To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

VULC ⁴ Quem docere voluisti ?
nonne eum qui fecit spiramentum ?

WLC ⁴ אֶת־ מִ֭י הִגַּ֣דְתָּ מִלִּ֑ין וְנִשְׁמַת־ מִ֝י יָצְאָ֥ה מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

KJV ⁵ Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

VULC ⁵ Ecce gigantes gemunt sub aquis,
et qui habitant cum eis.

WLC ⁵ הָרְפָאִ֥ים יְחוֹלָ֑לוּ מִתַּ֥חַת מַ֝֗יִם וְשֹׁכְנֵיהֶֽם׃

KJV ⁶ Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

VULC ⁶ Nudus est infernus coram illo,
et nullum est operimentum perditioni.

WLC ⁶ עָר֣וֹם שְׁא֣וֹל נֶגְדּ֑וֹ וְאֵ֥ין כְּ֝ס֗וּת לָֽאֲבַדּֽוֹן׃

KJV ⁷ He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

VULC ⁷ Qui extendit aquilonem super vacuum,
et appendit terram super nihilum.

WLC ⁷ נֹטֶ֣ה צָפ֣וֹן עַל־ תֹּ֑הוּ תֹּ֥לֶה אֶ֝֗רֶץ עַל־ בְּלִי־ מָֽה׃

KJV ⁸ He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

VULC ⁸ Qui ligat aquas in nubibus suis,
ut non erumpant pariter deorsum.

WLC ⁸ צֹרֵֽר־ מַ֥יִם בְּעָבָ֑יו וְלֹא־ נִבְקַ֖ע עָנָ֣ן תַּחְתָּֽם׃

KJV ⁹ He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.

VULC ⁹ Qui tenet vultum solii sui,
et expandit super illud nebulam suam.

WLC ⁹ מְאַחֵ֥ז פְּנֵי־ כִסֵּ֑ה פַּרְשֵׁ֖ז עָלָ֣יו עֲנָנֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁰ He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

VULC ¹⁰ Terminum circumdedit aquis,
usque dum finiantur lux et tenebræ.

WLC ¹⁰ חֹֽק־ חָ֭ג עַל־ פְּנֵי־ מָ֑יִם עַד־ תַּכְלִ֖ית א֣וֹר עִם־ חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃

KJV ¹¹ The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.

VULC ¹¹ Columnæ cæli contremiscunt,
et pavent ad nutum ejus.

WLC ¹¹ עַמּוּדֵ֣י שָׁמַ֣יִם יְרוֹפָ֑פוּ וְ֝יִתְמְה֗וּ מִגַּעֲרָתֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹² He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.

VULC ¹² In fortitudine illius repente maria congregata sunt,
et prudentia ejus percussit superbum.

WLC ¹² בְּ֭כֹחוֹ רָגַ֣ע הַיָּ֑ם מָ֣חַץ רָֽהַב׃

KJV ¹³ By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

VULC ¹³ Spiritus ejus ornavit cælos,
et obstetricante manu ejus, eductus est coluber tortuosus.

WLC ¹³ בְּ֭רוּחוֹ שָׁמַ֣יִם שִׁפְרָ֑ה חֹֽלֲלָ֥ה יָ֝ד֗וֹ נָחָ֥שׁ בָּרִֽיחַ׃

KJV ¹⁴ Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

VULC ¹⁴ Ecce hæc ex parte dicta sunt viarum ejus :
et cum vix parvam stillam sermonis ejus audierimus,
quis poterit tonitruum magnitudinis illius intueri ?]

WLC ¹⁴ הֶן־ אֵ֤לֶּה ׀ קְצ֬וֹת וּמַה־ שֵּׁ֣מֶץ דָּ֭בָר נִשְׁמַע־ בּ֑וֹ וְרַ֥עַם מִ֣י יִתְבּוֹנָֽן׃
