Job 29KJV 1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
VULC 1 Addidit quoque Job, assumens parabolam suam, et dixit :
WLC 1 וַיֹּ֣סֶף אִ֭יּוֹב שְׂאֵ֥ת מְשָׁל֗וֹ וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
KJV 2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
VULC 2 [Quis mihi tribuat ut sim juxta menses pristinos,
secundum dies quibus Deus custodiebat me ?
WLC 2 מִֽי־ יִתְּנֵ֥נִי כְיַרְחֵי־ קֶ֑דֶם כִּ֝ימֵ֗י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יִשְׁמְרֵֽנִי׃
KJV 3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
VULC 3 Quando splendebat lucerna ejus super caput meum,
et ad lumen ejus ambulabam in tenebris :
WLC 3 בְּהִלּ֣וֹ נֵ֭רוֹ עֲלֵ֣י רֹאשִׁ֑י לְ֝אוֹרוֹ אֵ֣לֶךְ חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
KJV 4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
VULC 4 sicut fui in diebus adolescentiæ meæ,
quando secreto Deus erat in tabernaculo meo :
WLC 4 כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר הָ֭יִיתִי בִּימֵ֣י חָרְפִּ֑י בְּס֥וֹד אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ עֲלֵ֣י אָהֳלִֽי׃
KJV 5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
VULC 5 quando erat Omnipotens mecum,
et in circuitu meo pueri mei :
WLC 5 בְּע֣וֹד שַׁ֭דַּי עִמָּדִ֑י סְבִ֖יבוֹתַ֣י נְעָרָֽי׃
KJV 6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
VULC 6 quando lavabam pedes meos butyro,
et petra fundebat mihi rivos olei :
WLC 6 בִּרְחֹ֣ץ הֲלִיכַ֣י בְּחֵמָ֑ה וְצ֥וּר יָצ֥וּק עִ֝מָּדִ֗י פַּלְגֵי־ שָֽׁמֶן׃
KJV 7 When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
VULC 7 quando procedebam ad portam civitatis,
et in platea parabant cathedram mihi.
WLC 7 בְּצֵ֣אתִי שַׁ֣עַר עֲלֵי־ קָ֑רֶת בָּ֝רְח֗וֹב אָכִ֥ין מוֹשָׁבִֽי׃
KJV 8 The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
VULC 8 Videbant me juvenes, et abscondebantur :
et senes assurgentes stabant.

KJV 9 The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

KJV 10 The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

et lingua eorum gutturi suo adhærebat.
WLC 10 קוֹל־ נְגִידִ֥ים נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ וּ֝לְשׁוֹנָ֗ם לְחִכָּ֥ם דָּבֵֽקָה׃
KJV 11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
VULC 11 Auris audiens beatificabat me,
et oculus videns testimonium reddebat mihi :
WLC 11 כִּ֤י אֹ֣זֶן שָׁ֭מְעָה וַֽתְּאַשְּׁרֵ֑נִי וְעַ֥יִן רָ֝אֲתָ֗ה וַתְּעִידֵֽנִי׃
KJV 12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
VULC 12 eo quod liberassem pauperem vociferantem,
et pupillum cui non esset adjutor.

KJV 13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
VULC 13 Benedictio perituri super me veniebat,
et cor viduæ consolatus sum.
WLC 13 בִּרְכַּ֣ת אֹ֭בֵד עָלַ֣י תָּבֹ֑א וְלֵ֖ב אַלְמָנָ֣ה אַרְנִֽן׃
KJV 14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
VULC 14 Justitia indutus sum,
et vestivi me, sicut vestimento et diademate, judicio meo.
WLC 14 צֶ֣דֶק לָ֭בַשְׁתִּי וַיִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑נִי כִּֽמְעִ֥יל וְ֝צָנִ֗יף מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃
KJV 15 I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
VULC 15 Oculus fui cæco, et pes claudo.
WLC 15 עֵינַ֣יִם הָ֭יִיתִי לַֽעִוֵּ֑ר וְרַגְלַ֖יִם לַפִּסֵּ֣חַ אָֽנִי׃
KJV 16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
VULC 16 Pater eram pauperum,
et causam quam nesciebam diligentissime investigabam.

KJV 17 And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
VULC 17 Conterebam molas iniqui,
et de dentibus illius auferebam prædam.
WLC 17 וָֽ֭אֲשַׁבְּרָה מְתַלְּע֣וֹת עַוָּ֑ל וּ֝מִשִּׁנָּ֗יו אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ טָֽרֶף׃
KJV 18 Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
VULC 18 Dicebamque : In nidulo meo moriar,
et sicut palma multiplicabo dies.
WLC 18 וָ֭אֹמַר עִם־ קִנִּ֣י אֶגְוָ֑ע וְ֝כַח֗וֹל אַרְבֶּ֥ה יָמִֽים׃
KJV 19 My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
VULC 19 Radix mea aperta est secus aquas,
et ros morabitur in messione mea.
WLC 19 שָׁרְשִׁ֣י פָת֣וּחַ אֱלֵי־ מָ֑יִם וְ֝טַ֗ל יָלִ֥ין בִּקְצִירִֽי׃
KJV 20 My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
VULC 20 Gloria mea semper innovabitur,
et arcus meus in manu mea instaurabitur.
WLC 20 כְּ֭בוֹדִי חָדָ֣שׁ עִמָּדִ֑י וְ֝קַשְׁתִּ֗י בְּיָדִ֥י תַחֲלִֽיף׃
KJV 21 Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
VULC 21 Qui me audiebant, expectabant sententiam,
et intenti tacebant ad consilium meum.
WLC 21 לִֽי־ שָׁמְע֥וּ וְיִחֵ֑לּוּ וְ֝יִדְּמ֗וּ לְמ֣וֹ עֲצָתִֽי׃
KJV 22 After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
VULC 22 Verbis meis addere nihil audebant,
et super illos stillabat eloquium meum.
WLC 22 אַחֲרֵ֣י דְ֭בָרִי לֹ֣א יִשְׁנ֑וּ וְ֝עָלֵ֗ימוֹ תִּטֹּ֥ף מִלָּתִֽי׃
KJV 23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
VULC 23 Expectabant me sicut pluviam,
et os suum aperiebant quasi ad imbrem serotinum.
WLC 23 וְיִֽחֲל֣וּ כַמָּטָ֣ר לִ֑י וּ֝פִיהֶ֗ם פָּעֲר֥וּ לְמַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃
KJV 24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
VULC 24 Siquando ridebam ad eos, non credebant :
et lux vultus mei non cadebat in terram.
WLC 24 אֶשְׂחַ֣ק אֲ֭לֵהֶם לֹ֣א יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ וְא֥וֹר פָּ֝נַ֗י לֹ֣א יַפִּילֽוּן׃
KJV 25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
VULC 25 Si voluissem ire ad eos, sedebam primus :
cumque sederem quasi rex, circumstante exercitu,
eram tamen mœrentium consolator.]
