Job 36KJV 1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,
VULC 1 Addens quoque Eliu, hæc locutus est :
KJV 2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf.
VULC 2 [Sustine me paululum, et indicabo tibi :
adhuc enim habeo quod pro Deo loquar.
KJV 3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
VULC 3 Repetam scientiam meam a principio,
et operatorem meum probabo justum.
KJV 4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
VULC 4 Vere enim absque mendacio sermones mei,
et perfecta scientia probabitur tibi.
KJV 5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
VULC 5 Deus potentes non abjicit,
cum et ipse sit potens :
KJV 6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
VULC 6 sed non salvat impios,
et judicium pauperibus tribuit.
KJV 7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
VULC 7 Non auferet a justo oculos suos :
et reges in solio collocat in perpetuum,
et illi eriguntur.
KJV 8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;
VULC 8 Et si fuerint in catenis,
et vinciantur funibus paupertatis,
KJV 9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
VULC 9 indicabit eis opera eorum,
et scelera eorum, quia violenti fuerunt.
KJV 10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
VULC 10 Revelabit quoque aurem eorum, ut corripiat :
et loquetur, ut revertantur ab iniquitate.
KJV 11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
VULC 11 Si audierint et observaverint, complebunt dies suos in bono,
et annos suos in gloria :
KJV 12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
VULC 12 si autem non audierint,
transibunt per gladium,
et consumentur in stultitia.
KJV 13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
VULC 13 Simulatores et callidi provocant iram Dei,
neque clamabunt cum vincti fuerint.
KJV 14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
VULC 14 Morietur in tempestate anima eorum,
et vita eorum inter effeminatos.
KJV 15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
VULC 15 Eripiet de angustia sua pauperem,
et revelabit in tribulatione aurem ejus.
KJV 16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
VULC 16 Igitur salvabit te de ore angusto latissime,
et non habente fundamentum subter se :
requies autem mensæ tuæ erit plena pinguedine.
KJV 17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
VULC 17 Causa tua quasi impii judicata est :
causam judiciumque recipies.
KJV 18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
VULC 18 Non te ergo superet ira ut aliquem opprimas :
nec multitudo donorum inclinet te.
KJV 19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength.
VULC 19 Depone magnitudinem tuam absque tribulatione,
et omnes robustos fortitudine.
KJV 20 Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
VULC 20 Ne protrahas noctem,
ut ascendant populi pro eis.
KJV 21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
VULC 21 Cave ne declines ad iniquitatem :
hanc enim cœpisti sequi post miseriam.
KJV 22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him?
VULC 22 Ecce Deus excelsus in fortitudine sua,
et nullus ei similis in legislatoribus.
KJV 23 Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
VULC 23 Quis poterit scrutari vias ejus ?
aut quis potest ei dicere : Operatus es iniquitatem ?
KJV 24 Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
VULC 24 Memento quod ignores opus ejus,
de quo cecinerunt viri.
KJV 25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
VULC 25 Omnes homines vident eum :
unusquisque intuetur procul.
KJV 26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
VULC 26 Ecce Deus magnus vincens scientiam nostram :
numerus annorum ejus inæstimabilis.
KJV 27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof:
VULC 27 Qui aufert stillas pluviæ,
et effundit imbres ad instar gurgitum,
KJV 28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
VULC 28 qui de nubibus fluunt
quæ prætexunt cuncta desuper.
KJV 29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle?
VULC 29 Si voluerit extendere nubes quasi tentorium suum,
KJV 30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
VULC 30 et fulgurare lumine suo desuper,
cardines quoque maris operiet.
KJV 31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
VULC 31 Per hæc enim judicat populos,
et dat escas multis mortalibus.
KJV 32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt.
VULC 32 In manibus abscondit lucem,
et præcepit ei ut rursus adveniat.
KJV 33 The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour.
VULC 33 Annuntiat de ea amico suo, quod possessio ejus sit,
et ad eam possit ascendere.]
