KJV ³ He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.

WLC ³ תַּֽחַת־ כָּל־ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם יִשְׁרֵ֑הוּ וְ֝אוֹר֗וֹ עַל־ כַּנְפ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃

DRB ⁴ Après lui une voix rugit. Il tonne de sa voix majestueuse, et il ne retient pas ses* éclairs quand il fait entendre sa voix.

KJV ⁴ After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

WLC ⁴ אַחֲרָ֤יו ׀ יִשְׁאַג־ ק֗וֹל יַ֭רְעֵם בְּק֣וֹל גְּאוֹנ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗ם כִּֽי־ יִשָּׁמַ֥ע קוֹלֽוֹ׃

DRB ⁵ *Dieu tonne merveilleusement de sa voix, faisant de grandes choses que nous ne comprenons pas.

KJV ⁵ God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

KJV ⁶ For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

DRB ⁷ Il met un sceau sur la main de tout homme, afin que tous les hommes connaissent son œuvre*.

KJV ⁷ He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

KJV ¹⁸ Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?

WLC ¹⁸ תַּרְקִ֣יעַ עִ֭מּוֹ לִשְׁחָקִ֑ים חֲ֝זָקִ֗ים כִּרְאִ֥י מוּצָֽק׃

DRB ¹⁹ Fais-nous savoir ce que nous lui dirons ! Nous ne savons préparer [des paroles], à cause de [nos] ténèbres.

KJV ¹⁹ Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.

DRB ²³ Le Tout-puissant, nous ne le trouvons pas ; grand en force, en jugement* et en beaucoup de justice, il n'opprime pas**.

KJV ²³ Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

KJV ¹³ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

KJV ¹⁷ Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

WLC ¹⁷ הֲנִגְל֣וּ לְ֭ךָ שַׁעֲרֵי־ מָ֑וֶת וְשַׁעֲרֵ֖י צַלְמָ֣וֶת תִּרְאֶֽה׃

KJV ²⁰ That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

KJV ²¹ Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

KJV ²² Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

KJV ²⁵ Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

WLC ²⁵ מִֽי־ פִלַּ֣ג לַשֶּׁ֣טֶף תְּעָלָ֑ה וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ לַחֲזִ֥יז קֹלֽוֹת׃

DRB ²⁶ Pour faire pleuvoir sur une terre où il n'y a personne, sur le désert où il n'y a pas d'hommes ;

KJV ²⁶ To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

KJV ²⁸ Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

WLC ²⁸ הֲיֵשׁ־ לַמָּטָ֥ר אָ֑ב א֥וֹ מִי־ ה֝וֹלִ֗יד אֶגְלֵי־ טָֽל׃

DRB ²⁹ Du sein de qui sort la glace ? et le frimas des cieux, qui l'enfante ?

KJV ²⁹ Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

KJV ³¹ Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

WLC ³¹ הַֽ֭תְקַשֵּׁר מַעֲדַנּ֣וֹת כִּימָ֑ה אֽוֹ־ מֹשְׁכ֖וֹת כְּסִ֣יל תְּפַתֵּֽחַ׃

DRB ³² Fais-tu sortir les signes du zodiaque en leurs saisons, et mènes-tu la grande Ourse avec ses filles* ?

KJV ³² Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

WLC ³² הֲתֹצִ֣יא מַזָּר֣וֹת בְּעִתּ֑וֹ וְ֝עַ֗יִשׁ עַל־ בָּנֶ֥יהָ תַנְחֵֽם׃

DRB ³³ Connais-tu les lois des cieux, ou établis-tu leur empire sur la terre ?

KJV ³³ Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

WLC ³³ הֲ֭יָדַעְתָּ חֻקּ֣וֹת שָׁמָ֑יִם אִם־ תָּשִׂ֖ים מִשְׁטָר֣וֹ בָאָֽרֶץ׃

DRB ³⁴ Peux-tu élever ta voix vers les nuages, en sorte que des torrents d'eau te couvrent ?

KJV ³⁴ Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

WLC ³⁴ הֲתָרִ֣ים לָעָ֣ב קוֹלֶ֑ךָ וְֽשִׁפְעַת־ מַ֥יִם תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃

DRB ³⁵ As-tu lancé la foudre, en sorte qu'elle soit allée et t'ait dit : Me voici ?

KJV ³⁵ Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

WLC ³⁵ הַֽתְשַׁלַּ֣ח בְּרָקִ֣ים וְיֵלֵ֑כוּ וְיֹאמְר֖וּ לְךָ֣ הִנֵּֽנוּ׃

DRB ³⁶ Qui a mis la sagesse dans les reins, ou qui donna l'intelligence à l'esprit ?

KJV ³⁶ Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

WLC ³⁶ מִי־ שָׁ֭ת בַּטֻּח֣וֹת חָכְמָ֑ה א֤וֹ מִֽי־ נָתַ֖ן לַשֶּׂ֣כְוִי בִינָֽה׃

DRB ³⁷ Qui a compté les nuages dans [sa] sagesse ? et qui verse les outres des cieux,

KJV ³⁷ Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,

WLC ³⁷ מִֽי־ יְסַפֵּ֣ר שְׁחָקִ֣ים בְּחָכְמָ֑ה וְנִבְלֵ֥י שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם מִ֣י יַשְׁכִּֽיב׃

DRB ³⁸ Quand la poussière coule comme du métal en fusion et que les mottes se soudent entre elles ?

KJV ³⁸ When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?

WLC ³⁸ בְּצֶ֣קֶת עָ֭פָר לַמּוּצָ֑ק וּרְגָבִ֥ים יְדֻבָּֽקוּ׃

DRB ³⁹ (39.1) Est-ce toi qui chasses la proie pour la lionne, et qui rassasies l'appétit des lionceaux,

KJV ³⁹ Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

WLC ³⁹ הֲתָצ֣וּד לְלָבִ֣יא טָ֑רֶף וְחַיַּ֖ת כְּפִירִ֣ים תְּמַלֵּֽא׃

DRB ⁴⁰ (39.2) Quand ils sont couchés dans leurs tanières [et] se tiennent aux aguets dans leur fourré ?

KJV ⁴⁰ When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

WLC ⁴⁰ כִּי־ יָשֹׁ֥חוּ בַמְּעוֹנ֑וֹת יֵשְׁב֖וּ בַסֻּכָּ֣ה לְמוֹ־ אָֽרֶב׃

DRB ⁴¹ (39.3) Qui prépare au corbeau sa pâture quand ses petits crient à *Dieu [et] qu'ils errent sans nourriture ?

KJV ⁴¹ Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

WLC ⁴¹ מִ֤י יָכִ֥ין לָעֹרֵ֗ב צֵ֫יד֥וֹ כִּֽי־ אֶל־ אֵ֣ל יְשַׁוֵּ֑עוּ יִ֝תְע֗וּ לִבְלִי־ אֹֽכֶל׃

DRB ¹ (39.4) Sais-tu le temps où mettent bas les bouquetins* des rochers ? As-tu observé les douleurs des biches ?

KJV ¹ Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?

WLC ¹ הֲיָדַ֗עְתָּ עֵ֭ת לֶ֣דֶת יַעֲלֵי־ סָ֑לַע חֹלֵ֖ל אַיָּל֣וֹת תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃

DRB ² (39.5) As-tu compté les mois qu'elles accomplissent, et connais-tu le temps où elles mettent bas ?

KJV ² Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?

WLC ² תִּסְפֹּ֣ר יְרָחִ֣ים תְּמַלֶּ֑אנָה וְ֝יָדַ֗עְתָּ עֵ֣ת לִדְתָּֽנָה׃

DRB ³ (39.6) Elles se courbent, elles enfantent leur portée, elles se délivrent de leurs douleurs.

KJV ³ They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.

WLC ³ תִּ֭כְרַעְנָה יַלְדֵיהֶ֣ן תְּפַלַּ֑חְנָה חֶבְלֵיהֶ֥ם תְּשַׁלַּֽחְנָה׃

DRB ⁴ (39.7) Leurs petits deviennent forts, ils grandissent dans les champs*, ils s'en vont et ne reviennent pas à elles.

KJV ⁴ Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.

WLC ⁴ יַחְלְמ֣וּ בְ֭נֵיהֶם יִרְבּ֣וּ בַבָּ֑ר יָ֝צְא֗וּ וְלֹא־ שָׁ֥בוּ לָֽמוֹ׃

DRB ⁵ (39.8) Qui a lâché* l'âne sauvage ? qui a délié les liens de l'onagre,

KJV ⁵ Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?

WLC ⁵ מִֽי־ שִׁלַּ֣ח פֶּ֣רֶא חָפְשִׁ֑י וּמֹסְר֥וֹת עָ֝ר֗וֹד מִ֣י פִתֵּֽחַ׃

DRB ⁶ (39.9) Auquel j'ai donné le désert pour maison, et la terre salée pour demeure ?

KJV ⁶ Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.

WLC ⁶ אֲשֶׁר־ שַׂ֣מְתִּי עֲרָבָ֣ה בֵית֑וֹ וּֽמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָ֥יו מְלֵֽחָה׃

DRB ⁷ (39.10) Il se rit du tumulte de la ville, il n'entend pas le cri du conducteur.

KJV ⁷ He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.

WLC ⁷ יִ֭שְׂחַק לַהֲמ֣וֹן קִרְיָ֑ה תְּשֻׁא֥וֹת נ֝וֹגֵ֗שׂ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָֽע׃

DRB ⁸ (39.11) Il parcourt les montagnes pour trouver sa pâture, et il est en quête de tout ce qui est vert.

KJV ⁸ The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.

WLC ⁸ יְת֣וּר הָרִ֣ים מִרְעֵ֑הוּ וְאַחַ֖ר כָּל־ יָר֣וֹק יִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃

DRB ⁹ (39.12) Le buffle* voudra-t-il être à ton service ? passera-t-il la nuit auprès de ta crèche ?

KJV ⁹ Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

WLC ⁹ הֲיֹ֣אבֶה רֵּ֣ים עָבְדֶ֑ךָ אִם־ יָ֝לִ֗ין עַל־ אֲבוּסֶֽךָ׃

DRB ¹⁰ (39.13) Attacheras-tu le buffle par sa corde dans le sillon ? Hersera-t-il les vallées après toi ?

KJV ¹⁰ Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

WLC ¹⁰ הֲ‍ֽתִקְשָׁר־ רֵ֭ים בְּתֶ֣לֶם עֲבֹת֑וֹ אִם־ יְשַׂדֵּ֖ד עֲמָקִ֣ים אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃

DRB ¹¹ (39.14) Auras-tu confiance en lui, parce que sa force est grande, et lui abandonneras-tu ton labeur ?

KJV ¹¹ Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

WLC ¹¹ הֲֽתִבְטַח־ בּ֭וֹ כִּי־ רַ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ וְתַעֲזֹ֖ב אֵלָ֣יו יְגִיעֶֽךָ׃

DRB ¹² (39.15) Te fieras-tu à lui pour rentrer ce que tu as semé, et rassemblera-t-il [le blé] dans ton aire ?

KJV ¹² Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?

WLC ¹² הֲתַאֲמִ֣ין בּ֭וֹ כִּי־ זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְֽגָרְנְךָ֥ יֶאֱסֹֽף׃

DRB ¹³ (39.16) L'aile de l'autruche bat joyeusement : ce sont les plumes et le plumage de la cigogne ;

KJV ¹³ Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

WLC ¹³ כְּנַף־ רְנָנִ֥ים נֶעֱלָ֑סָה אִם־ אֶ֝בְרָ֗ה חֲסִידָ֥ה וְנֹצָֽה׃

DRB ¹⁴ (39.17) Toutefois elle abandonne ses œufs à la terre et les chauffe sur la poussière,

KJV ¹⁴ Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,

WLC ¹⁴ כִּֽי־ תַעֲזֹ֣ב לָאָ֣רֶץ בֵּצֶ֑יהָ וְֽעַל־ עָפָ֥ר תְּחַמֵּֽם׃

DRB ¹⁵ (39.18) Et elle oublie que le pied peut les écraser et la bête des champs les fouler ;

KJV ¹⁵ And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

WLC ¹⁵ וַ֭תִּשְׁכַּח כִּי־ רֶ֣גֶל תְּזוּרֶ֑הָ וְחַיַּ֖ת הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה תְּדוּשֶֽׁהָ׃

DRB ¹⁶ (39.19) Elle est dure avec ses petits comme s'ils n'étaient pas à elle ; son labeur est vain, sans qu'elle s'en émeuve.

KJV ¹⁶ She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;

WLC ¹⁶ הִקְשִׁ֣יחַ בָּנֶ֣יהָ לְּלֹא־ לָ֑הּ לְרִ֖יק יְגִיעָ֣הּ בְּלִי־ פָֽחַד׃

DRB ¹⁷ (39.20) Car #Dieu l'a privée de* sagesse, et ne lui a pas départi l'intelligence.

KJV ¹⁷ Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.

WLC ¹⁷ כִּֽי־ הִשָּׁ֣הּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ חָכְמָ֑ה וְלֹא־ חָ֥לַק לָ֝֗הּ בַּבִּינָֽה׃

DRB ¹⁸ (39.21) Quand elle s'enlève, elle se moque du cheval et de celui qui le monte.

KJV ¹⁸ What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

WLC ¹⁸ כָּ֭עֵת בַּמָּר֣וֹם תַּמְרִ֑יא תִּֽשְׂחַ֥ק לַ֝סּ֗וּס וּלְרֹֽכְבֽוֹ׃

DRB ¹⁹ (39.22) Est-ce toi qui as donné au cheval sa force ? Est-ce toi qui as revêtu son cou d'une crinière flottante* ?

KJV ¹⁹ Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?

WLC ¹⁹ הֲתִתֵּ֣ן לַסּ֣וּס גְּבוּרָ֑ה הֲתַלְבִּ֖ישׁ צַוָּאר֣וֹ רַעְמָֽה׃

DRB ²⁰ (39.23) Est-ce toi qui le fais bondir comme la sauterelle ? Son ronflement magnifique est terrible.

KJV ²⁰ Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

WLC ²⁰ הְֽ֭תַרְעִישֶׁנּוּ כָּאַרְבֶּ֑ה ה֖וֹד נַחְר֣וֹ אֵימָֽה׃

DRB ²¹ (39.24) Il creuse [le sol] dans la plaine et se réjouit de sa force ; il sort à la rencontre des armes ;

KJV ²¹ He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.

WLC ²¹ יַחְפְּר֣וּ בָ֭עֵמֶק וְיָשִׂ֣ישׂ בְּכֹ֑חַ יֵ֝צֵ֗א לִקְרַאת־ נָֽשֶׁק׃

DRB ²² (39.25) Il se rit de la frayeur et ne s'épouvante pas, et il ne se tourne pas devant l'épée.

KJV ²² He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.

WLC ²² יִשְׂחַ֣ק לְ֭פַחַד וְלֹ֣א יֵחָ֑ת וְלֹֽא־ יָ֝שׁ֗וּב מִפְּנֵי־ חָֽרֶב׃

DRB ²³ (39.26) Sur lui retentit le carquois, brillent la lance et le javelot.

KJV ²³ The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.

WLC ²³ עָ֭לָיו תִּרְנֶ֣ה אַשְׁפָּ֑ה לַ֖הַב חֲנִ֣ית וְכִידֽוֹן׃

DRB ²⁴ (39.27) Frémissant et agité, il dévore le sol, et ne peut se contenir quand sonne la trompette.

KJV ²⁴ He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.

WLC ²⁴ בְּרַ֣עַשׁ וְ֭רֹגֶז יְגַמֶּא־ אָ֑רֶץ וְלֹֽא־ יַ֝אֲמִ֗ין כִּי־ ק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָֽר׃

DRB ²⁵ (39.28) Au bruit de la trompette, il dit : Ha ! ha ! et de loin il flaire la bataille, le tonnerre des chefs et le tumulte.

KJV ²⁵ He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

WLC ²⁵ בְּדֵ֤י שֹׁפָ֨ר ׀ יֹ֘אמַ֤ר הֶאָ֗ח וּֽ֭מֵרָחוֹק יָרִ֣יחַ מִלְחָמָ֑ה רַ֥עַם שָׂ֝רִים וּתְרוּעָֽה׃

DRB ²⁶ (39.29) Est-ce par ton intelligence que l'épervier prend son essor et qu'il étend ses ailes vers le midi ?

KJV ²⁶ Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

WLC ²⁶ הֲ‍ֽ֭מִבִּינָ֣תְךָ יַֽאֲבֶר־ נֵ֑ץ יִפְרֹ֖שׂ לְתֵימָֽן׃

DRB ²⁷ (39.30)Est-ce à ta parole* que l'aigle s'élève et qu'il bâtit haut son aire ?

KJV ²⁷ Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?

WLC ²⁷ אִם־ עַל־ פִּ֭יךָ יַגְבִּ֣יהַּ נָ֑שֶׁר וְ֝כִ֗י יָרִ֥ים קִנּֽוֹ׃

DRB ²⁸ (39.31) Il demeure dans les rochers et y fait son habitation, sur la dent du rocher et sur les hautes cimes.

KJV ²⁸ She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

WLC ²⁸ סֶ֣לַע יִ֭שְׁכֹּן וְיִתְלֹנָ֑ן עַֽל־ שֶׁן־ סֶ֝֗לַע וּמְצוּדָֽה׃

DRB ²⁹ (39.32) De là il épie sa nourriture, ses yeux regardent dans le lointain.

KJV ²⁹ From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.

WLC ²⁹ מִשָּׁ֥ם חָֽפַר־ אֹ֑כֶל לְ֝מֵרָח֗וֹק עֵינָ֥יו יַבִּֽיטוּ׃

DRB ³⁰ (39.33) Ses petits sucent le sang, et là où sont les tués, là il est.

KJV ³⁰ Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

WLC ³⁰ יְעַלְעוּ־ דָ֑ם וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר חֲ֝לָלִ֗ים שָׁ֣ם הֽוּא׃
