DRB ¹ (39.34) Et l'Éternel répondit à Job et dit :

KJV ¹ Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

WLC ¹ וַיַּ֖עַן יְהוָ֥ה אֶת־ אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

DRB ² (39.35) Celui qui conteste avec le Tout-puissant l'instruira-t-il ? Celui qui reprend Dieu, qu'il réponde à cela !

KJV ² Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

WLC ² הֲ֭רֹב עִם־ שַׁדַּ֣י יִסּ֑וֹר מוֹכִ֖יחַ אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַעֲנֶֽנָּה׃

DRB ³ (39.36) Et Job répondit à l'Éternel, et dit :

KJV ³ Then Job answered the LORD, and said,

WLC ³ וַיַּ֖עַן אִיּ֥וֹב אֶת־ יְהוָ֗ה וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

DRB ⁴ (39.37) Voici, je suis une créature de rien, que te répliquerai-je ? Je mettrai ma main sur ma bouche.

KJV ⁴ Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

WLC ⁴ הֵ֣ן קַ֭לֹּתִי מָ֣ה אֲשִׁיבֶ֑ךָּ יָ֝דִ֗י שַׂ֣מְתִּי לְמוֹ־ פִֽי׃

DRB ⁵ (39.38) J'ai parlé une fois, et je ne répondrai plus ; et deux fois, et je n'ajouterai rien.

KJV ⁵ Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

WLC ⁵ אַחַ֣ת דִּ֭בַּרְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אֶֽעֱנֶ֑ה וּ֝שְׁתַּ֗יִם וְלֹ֣א אוֹסִֽיף׃

DRB ⁶ (40.1) Et l'Éternel répondit à Job du milieu du tourbillon et dit :

KJV ⁶ Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

WLC ⁶ וַיַּֽעַן־ יְהוָ֣ה אֶת־ אִ֭יּוֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

DRB ⁷ (40.2) Ceins tes reins comme un homme ; je t'interrogerai, et tu m'instruiras !

KJV ⁷ Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

WLC ⁷ אֱזָר־ נָ֣א כְגֶ֣בֶר חֲלָצֶ֑יךָ אֶ֝שְׁאָלְךָ֗ וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃

DRB ⁸ (40.3) Veux-tu donc anéantir mon jugement ? Me démontreras-tu inique afin de te justifier ?

KJV ⁸ Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

WLC ⁸ הַ֭אַף תָּפֵ֣ר מִשְׁפָּטִ֑י תַּ֝רְשִׁיעֵ֗נִי לְמַ֣עַן תִּצְדָּֽק׃

DRB ⁹ (40.4) As-tu un bras comme *Dieu et tonneras-tu de ta voix comme lui ?

KJV ⁹ Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

WLC ⁹ וְאִם־ זְר֖וֹעַ כָּאֵ֥ל ׀ לָ֑ךְ וּ֝בְק֗וֹל כָּמֹ֥הוּ תַרְעֵֽם׃

DRB ¹⁰ (40.5) Pare-toi, je te prie, de grandeur et de magnificence ; revêts-toi de majesté et de gloire !

KJV ¹⁰ Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

WLC ¹⁰ עֲדֵ֥ה נָ֣א גָֽא֣וֹן וָגֹ֑בַהּ וְה֖וֹד וְהָדָ֣ר תִּלְבָּֽשׁ׃

DRB ¹¹ (40.6) Répands les fureurs de ta colère, et regarde tout ce qui* s'élève et abaisse-le ;

KJV ¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

WLC ¹¹ הָ֭פֵץ עֶבְר֣וֹת אַפֶּ֑ךָ וּרְאֵ֥ה כָל־ גֵּ֝אֶ֗ה וְהַשְׁפִּילֵֽהוּ׃

DRB ¹² (40.7) Regarde tout ce qui* s'élève [et] humilie-le, et écrase sur place les méchants ;

KJV ¹² Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

WLC ¹² רְאֵ֣ה כָל־ גֵּ֭אֶה הַכְנִיעֵ֑הוּ וַהֲדֹ֖ךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים תַּחְתָּֽם׃

DRB ¹³ (40.8) Cache-les ensemble dans la poussière, lie leurs faces dans un lieu caché :

KJV ¹³ Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

WLC ¹³ טָמְנֵ֣ם בֶּעָפָ֣ר יָ֑חַד פְּ֝נֵיהֶ֗ם חֲבֹ֣שׁ בַּטָּמֽוּן׃

DRB ¹⁴ (40.9) Alors moi aussi je te célébrerai, parce que ta droite te sauve !

KJV ¹⁴ Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

WLC ¹⁴ וְגַם־ אֲנִ֥י אוֹדֶ֑ךָּ כִּֽי־ תוֹשִׁ֖עַ לְךָ֣ יְמִינֶֽךָ׃

DRB ¹⁵ (40.10) Vois le béhémoth*, que j'ai fait avec toi : il mange l'herbe comme le bœuf.

KJV ¹⁵ Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

WLC ¹⁵ הִנֵּה־ נָ֣א בְ֭הֵמוֹת אֲשֶׁר־ עָשִׂ֣יתִי עִמָּ֑ךְ חָ֝צִ֗יר כַּבָּקָ֥ר יֹאכֵֽל׃

DRB ¹⁶ (40.11) Regarde donc : sa force est dans ses reins, et sa puissance dans les muscles de son ventre.

KJV ¹⁶ Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

WLC ¹⁶ הִנֵּה־ נָ֣א כֹח֣וֹ בְמָתְנָ֑יו וְ֝אֹנ֗וֹ בִּשְׁרִירֵ֥י בִטְנֽוֹ׃

DRB ¹⁷ (40.12) Il courbe sa queue comme un cèdre ; les nerfs de sa cuisse sont entrelacés ;

KJV ¹⁷ He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

WLC ¹⁷ יַחְפֹּ֣ץ זְנָב֣וֹ כְמוֹ־ אָ֑רֶז גִּידֵ֖י יְשֹׂרָֽגוּ׃

DRB ¹⁸ (40.13) Ses os sont des tubes d'airain, ses membres sont des barres de fer !

KJV ¹⁸ His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

WLC ¹⁸ עֲ֭צָמָיו אֲפִיקֵ֣י נְחוּשָׁ֑ה גְּ֝רָמָ֗יו כִּמְטִ֥יל בַּרְזֶֽל׃

DRB ¹⁹ (40.14) Il est la première des voies de *Dieu : celui qui l'a fait lui a fourni son épée.

KJV ¹⁹ He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

WLC ¹⁹ ה֭וּא רֵאשִׁ֣ית דַּרְכֵי־ אֵ֑ל הָ֝עֹשׂוֹ יַגֵּ֥שׁ חַרְבּֽוֹ׃

DRB ²⁰ (40.15) Car les montagnes lui apportent [sa] pâture, là où se jouent toutes les bêtes des champs.

KJV ²⁰ Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

WLC ²⁰ כִּֽי־ ב֭וּל הָרִ֣ים יִשְׂאוּ־ ל֑וֹ וְֽכָל־ חַיַּ֥ת הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה יְשַֽׂחֲקוּ־ שָֽׁם׃

DRB ²¹ (40.16) Il se couche sous les lotus dans une retraite de roseaux et de marécages ;

KJV ²¹ He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

WLC ²¹ תַּֽחַת־ צֶאֱלִ֥ים יִשְׁכָּ֑ב בְּסֵ֖תֶר קָנֶ֣ה וּבִצָּֽה׃

DRB ²² (40.17) Les lotus le couvrent de leur ombre, les saules de la rivière l'environnent.

KJV ²² The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

WLC ²² יְסֻכֻּ֣הוּ צֶאֱלִ֣ים צִֽלֲל֑וֹ יְ֝סֻבּ֗וּהוּ עַרְבֵי־ נָֽחַל׃

DRB ²³ (40.18) Voici, que le fleuve déborde avec violence, il ne se précipite pas ; il est plein d'assurance si un Jourdain se jette contre sa gueule.

KJV ²³ Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

WLC ²³ הֵ֤ן יַעֲשֹׁ֣ק נָ֭הָר לֹ֣א יַחְפּ֑וֹז יִבְטַ֓ח ׀ כִּֽי־ יָגִ֖יחַ יַרְדֵּ֣ן אֶל־ פִּֽיהוּ׃

DRB ²⁴ (40.19) Le prendra-t-on en face ? Lui percera-t-on le nez dans une trappe ?

KJV ²⁴ He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

WLC ²⁴ בְּעֵינָ֥יו יִקָּחֶ֑נּוּ בְּ֝מֽוֹקְשִׁ֗ים יִנְקָב־ אָֽף׃

WLC ²⁵ תִּמְשֹׁ֣ךְ לִוְיָתָ֣ן בְּחַכָּ֑ה וּ֝בְחֶ֗בֶל תַּשְׁקִ֥יעַ לְשֹׁנֽוֹ׃

WLC ²⁶ הֲתָשִׂ֣ים אַגְמ֣וֹן בְּאַפּ֑וֹ וּ֝בְח֗וֹחַ תִּקּ֥וֹב לֶֽחֱיוֹ׃

WLC ²⁷ הֲיַרְבֶּ֣ה אֵ֭לֶיךָ תַּחֲנוּנִ֑ים אִם־ יְדַבֵּ֖ר אֵלֶ֣יךָ רַכּֽוֹת׃

WLC ²⁸ הֲיִכְרֹ֣ת בְּרִ֣ית עִמָּ֑ךְ תִּ֝קָּחֶ֗נּוּ לְעֶ֣בֶד עוֹלָֽם׃

WLC ²⁹ הַֽתְשַׂחֶק־ בּ֭וֹ כַּצִּפּ֑וֹר וְ֝תִקְשְׁרֶ֗נּוּ לְנַעֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃

WLC ³⁰ יִכְר֣וּ עָ֭לָיו חַבָּרִ֑ים יֶ֝חֱצ֗וּהוּ בֵּ֣ין כְּֽנַעֲנִֽים׃

WLC ³¹ הַֽתְמַלֵּ֣א בְשֻׂכּ֣וֹת עוֹר֑וֹ וּבְצִלְצַ֖ל דָּגִ֣ים רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃

WLC ³² שִׂים־ עָלָ֥יו כַּפֶּ֑ךָ זְכֹ֥ר מִ֝לְחָמָ֗ה אַל־ תּוֹסַֽף׃
