KJV ¹ Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?

WLC ¹ קְֽרָא־ נָ֭א הֲיֵ֣שׁ עוֹנֶ֑ךָּ וְאֶל־ מִ֖י מִקְּדֹשִׁ֣ים תִּפְנֶֽה׃

KJV ² For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.

MAR ² Certainement la colère tue le fou, et le dépit fait mourir le sot.

WLC ² כִּֽי־ לֶֽ֭אֱוִיל יַהֲרָג־ כָּ֑עַשׂ וּ֝פֹתֶ֗ה תָּמִ֥ית קִנְאָֽה׃

KJV ³ I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

MAR ³ J'ai vu le fou qui s'enracinait, mais j'ai aussitôt maudit sa demeure.

WLC ³ אֲ‍ֽנִי־ רָ֭אִיתִי אֱוִ֣יל מַשְׁרִ֑ישׁ וָאֶקּ֖וֹב נָוֵ֣הוּ פִתְאֹֽם׃

KJV ⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

MAR ⁴ Ses enfants, bien loin de trouver de la sûreté, sont écrasés aux portes, et personne ne les délivre.

WLC ⁴ יִרְחֲק֣וּ בָנָ֣יו מִיֶּ֑שַׁע וְיִֽדַּכְּא֥וּ בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּֽיל׃

KJV ⁵ Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

MAR ⁵ Sa moisson est dévorée par l'affamé, qui même la ravit d'entre les épines ; et le voleur engloutit leurs biens.

WLC ⁵ אֲשֶׁ֤ר קְצִיר֨וֹ ׀ רָ֘עֵ֤ב יֹאכֵ֗ל וְאֶֽל־ מִצִּנִּ֥ים יִקָּחֵ֑הוּ וְשָׁאַ֖ף צַמִּ֣ים חֵילָֽם׃

KJV ⁶ Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;

MAR ⁶ Or le tourment ne sort pas de la poussière, et le travail ne germe pas de la terre ;

WLC ⁶ כִּ֤י ׀ לֹא־ יֵצֵ֣א מֵעָפָ֣ר אָ֑וֶן וּ֝מֵאֲדָמָ֗ה לֹא־ יִצְמַ֥ח עָמָֽל׃

KJV ⁷ Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

MAR ⁷ Quoique l'homme naisse pour être agité, comme les étincelles pour voler en haut.

WLC ⁷ כִּֽי־ אָ֭דָם לְעָמָ֣ל יוּלָּ֑ד וּבְנֵי־ רֶ֝֗שֶׁף יַגְבִּ֥יהוּ עֽוּף׃

KJV ⁸ I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:

MAR ⁸ Mais moi, j'aurais recours au [Dieu] Fort, et j'adresserais mes paroles à Dieu,

WLC ⁸ אוּלָ֗ם אֲ֭נִי אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ אֶל־ אֵ֑ל וְאֶל־ אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים אָשִׂ֥ים דִּבְרָתִֽי׃

KJV ⁹ Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:

MAR ⁹ Qui fait des choses si grandes qu'on ne les peut sonder, [et] tant de choses merveilleuses, qu'il est impossible de les compter.

WLC ⁹ עֹשֶׂ֣ה גְ֭דֹלוֹת וְאֵ֣ין חֵ֑קֶר נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת עַד־ אֵ֥ין מִסְפָּֽר׃

KJV ¹⁰ Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

MAR ¹⁰ Qui répand la pluie sur la face de la terre, et qui envoie les eaux sur les campagnes.

WLC ¹⁰ הַנֹּתֵ֣ן מָ֭טָר עַל־ פְּנֵי־ אָ֑רֶץ וְשֹׁ֥לֵֽחַ מַ֝יִם עַל־ פְּנֵ֥י חוּצֽוֹת׃

KJV ¹¹ To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

MAR ¹¹ Qui élève ceux qui sont bas, et qui fait que ceux qui sont en deuil sont en sûreté dans une haute retraite.

WLC ¹¹ לָשׂ֣וּם שְׁפָלִ֣ים לְמָר֑וֹם וְ֝קֹדְרִ֗ים שָׂ֣גְבוּ יֶֽשַׁע׃

KJV ¹² He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

MAR ¹² Il dissipe les pensées des hommes rusés, de sorte qu'ils ne viennent point à bout de leurs entreprises.

WLC ¹² מֵ֭פֵר מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת עֲרוּמִ֑ים וְֽלֹא־ תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃

KJV ¹³ He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

MAR ¹³ Il surprend les sages en leur ruse, et le conseil des méchants est renversé.

WLC ¹³ לֹכֵ֣ד חֲכָמִ֣ים בְּעָרְמָ֑ם וַעֲצַ֖ת נִפְתָּלִ֣ים נִמְהָֽרָה׃

KJV ¹⁴ They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

MAR ¹⁴ De jour ils rencontrent les ténèbres, et ils marchent à tâtons en plein midi, comme dans la nuit.

WLC ¹⁴ יוֹמָ֥ם יְפַגְּשׁוּ־ חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וְ֝כַלַּ֗יְלָה יְֽמַשְׁשׁ֥וּ בַֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹⁵ But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

MAR ¹⁵ Mais il délivre le pauvre de [leur] épée, de leur bouche, et de la main de l'homme puissant.

WLC ¹⁵ וַיֹּ֣שַׁע מֵ֭חֶרֶב מִפִּיהֶ֑ם וּמִיַּ֖ד חָזָ֣ק אֶבְיֽוֹן׃

KJV ¹⁶ So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.

MAR ¹⁶ Ainsi il arrive au pauvre ce qu'il a espéré, mais l'iniquité a la bouche fermée.

WLC ¹⁶ וַתְּהִ֣י לַדַּ֣ל תִּקְוָ֑ה וְ֝עֹלָ֗תָה קָ֣פְצָה פִּֽיהָ׃

KJV ¹⁷ Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

MAR ¹⁷ Voilà, ô que bienheureux est celui que Dieu châtie ! ne rejette donc point le châtiment du Tout-puissant.

WLC ¹⁷ הִנֵּ֤ה אַשְׁרֵ֣י אֱ֭נוֹשׁ יוֹכִחֶ֣נּֽוּ אֱל֑וֹהַּ וּמוּסַ֥ר שַׁ֝דַּ֗י אַל־ תִּמְאָֽס׃

KJV ¹⁸ For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

MAR ¹⁸ Car c'est lui qui fait la plaie, et qui la bande ; il blesse, et ses mains guérissent.

WLC ¹⁸ כִּ֤י ה֣וּא יַכְאִ֣יב וְיֶחְבָּ֑שׁ יִ֝מְחַ֗ץ תִּרְפֶּֽינָה׃

KJV ¹⁹ He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

MAR ¹⁹ Il te délivrera dans six afflictions, et à la septième le mal ne te touchera point.

WLC ¹⁹ בְּשֵׁ֣שׁ צָ֭רוֹת יַצִּילֶ֑ךָּ וּבְשֶׁ֓בַע ׀ לֹא־ יִגַּ֖ע בְּךָ֣ רָֽע׃

KJV ²⁰ In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

MAR ²⁰ En temps de famine il te garantira de la mort, et en temps de guerre [il te préservera] de l'épée.

WLC ²⁰ בְּ֭רָעָב פָּֽדְךָ֣ מִמָּ֑וֶת וּ֝בְמִלְחָמָ֗ה מִ֣ידֵי חָֽרֶב׃

KJV ²¹ Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

MAR ²¹ Tu seras à couvert du fléau de la langue, et tu n'auras point peur du pillage quand il arrivera ;

WLC ²¹ בְּשׁ֣וֹט לָ֭שׁוֹן תֵּחָבֵ֑א וְֽלֹא־ תִירָ֥א מִ֝שֹּׁ֗ד כִּ֣י יָבֽוֹא׃

KJV ²² At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

MAR ²² Tu riras durant le pillage et durant la famine, et tu n'auras point peur des bêtes sauvages.

WLC ²² לְשֹׁ֣ד וּלְכָפָ֣ן תִּשְׂחָ֑ק וּֽמֵחַיַּ֥ת הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ אַל־ תִּירָֽא׃

KJV ²³ For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

MAR ²³ Même tu feras accord avec les pierres des champs, tu seras en paix avec les bêtes sauvages.

WLC ²³ כִּ֤י עִם־ אַבְנֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה בְרִיתֶ֑ךָ וְחַיַּ֥ת הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה הָשְׁלְמָה־ לָֽךְ׃

KJV ²⁴ And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

MAR ²⁴ Tu connaîtras que la prospérité sera dans ta tente ; tu pourvoiras à ta demeure, et tu n'y seras point trompé.

WLC ²⁴ וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ כִּי־ שָׁל֣וֹם אָהֳלֶ֑ךָ וּֽפָקַדְתָּ֥ נָ֝וְךָ וְלֹ֣א תֶחֱטָֽא׃

KJV ²⁵ Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

MAR ²⁵ Et tu verras croître ta postérité et tes descendants, comme l'herbe de la terre.

WLC ²⁵ וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ כִּי־ רַ֣ב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְ֝צֶאֱצָאֶ֗יךָ כְּעֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ²⁶ Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.

MAR ²⁶ Tu entreras au sépulcre en vieillesse, comme un monceau de gerbes s'entasse en sa saison.

WLC ²⁶ תָּב֣וֹא בְכֶ֣לַח אֱלֵי־ קָ֑בֶר כַּעֲל֖וֹת גָּדִ֣ישׁ בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃

KJV ²⁷ Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

MAR ²⁷ Voilà, nous avons examiné cela, et il est ainsi ; écoute-le, et le sache pour ton bien.

WLC ²⁷ הִנֵּה־ זֹ֭את חֲקַרְנ֥וּהָ כֶּֽן־ הִ֑יא שְׁ֝מָעֶ֗נָּה וְאַתָּ֥ה דַֽע־ לָֽךְ׃
