KJV 1 But Job answered and said,

WLC 1 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

KJV 2 Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!

WLC 2 ל֗וּ שָׁק֣וֹל יִשָּׁקֵ֣ל כַּעְשִׂ֑י בְּֽמֹאזְנַ֥יִם יִשְׂאוּ־ יָֽחַד׃

KJV 3 For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

WLC 3 כִּֽי־ עַתָּ֗ה מֵח֣וֹל יַמִּ֣ים יִכְבָּ֑ד עַל־ כֵּ֝֗ן דְּבָרַ֥י לָֽעוּ׃

KJV 4 For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

WLC 4 כִּ֤י חִצֵּ֪י שַׁדַּ֡י עִמָּדִ֗י אֲשֶׁ֣ר חֲ֭מָתָם שֹׁתָ֣ה רוּחִ֑י בִּעוּתֵ֖י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַֽעַרְכֽוּנִי׃

KJV 5 Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?

WLC 5 הֲיִֽנְהַק־ פֶּ֥רֶא עֲלֵי־ דֶ֑שֶׁא אִ֥ם יִגְעֶה־ שּׁ֝֗וֹר עַל־ בְּלִילֽוֹ׃

KJV 6 Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

WLC 6 הֲיֵאָכֵ֣ל תָּ֭פֵל מִבְּלִי־ מֶ֑לַח אִם־ יֶשׁ־ טַ֝֗עַם בְּרִ֣יר חַלָּמֽוּת׃

KJV 7 The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

WLC 7 מֵאֲנָ֣ה לִנְגּ֣וֹעַ נַפְשִׁ֑י הֵ֝֗מָּה כִּדְוֵ֥י לַחְמִֽי׃

KJV 8 Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!

WLC 8 מִֽי־ יִ֭תֵּן תָּב֣וֹא שֶֽׁאֱלָתִ֑י וְ֝תִקְוָתִ֗י יִתֵּ֥ן אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃

KJV 9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

WLC 9 וְיֹאֵ֣ל אֱ֭לוֹהַּ וִֽידַכְּאֵ֑נִי יַתֵּ֥ר יָ֝ד֗וֹ וִֽיבַצְּעֵֽנִי׃

KJV 10 Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

WLC 10 וּ֥תְהִי ע֨וֹד ׀ נֶ֘חָ֤מָתִ֗י וַאֲסַלְּדָ֣ה בְ֭חִילָה לֹ֣א יַחְמ֑וֹל כִּי־ לֹ֥א כִ֝חַ֗דְתִּי אִמְרֵ֥י קָדֽוֹשׁ׃

KJV 11 What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?

WLC 11 מַה־ כֹּחִ֥י כִֽי־ אֲיַחֵ֑ל וּמַה־ קִּ֝צִּ֗י כִּֽי־ אַאֲרִ֥יךְ נַפְשִֽׁי׃

KJV 12 Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?

WLC 12 אִם־ כֹּ֣חַ אֲבָנִ֣ים כֹּחִ֑י אִֽם־ בְּשָׂרִ֥י נָחֽוּשׁ׃

KJV 13 Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?

WLC 13 הַאִ֬ם אֵ֣ין עֶזְרָתִ֣י בִ֑י וְ֝תֻשִׁיָּ֗ה נִדְּחָ֥ה מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

KJV 14 To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

WLC 14 לַמָּ֣ס מֵרֵעֵ֣הוּ חָ֑סֶד וְיִרְאַ֖ת שַׁדַּ֣י יַעֲזֽוֹב׃

KJV 15 My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;

WLC 15 אַ֭חַי בָּגְד֣וּ כְמוֹ־ נָ֑חַל כַּאֲפִ֖יק נְחָלִ֣ים יַעֲבֹֽרוּ׃

KJV 16 Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:

WLC 16 הַקֹּדְרִ֥ים מִנִּי־ קָ֑רַח עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ יִתְעַלֶּם־ שָֽׁלֶג׃

KJV 17 What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.

WLC 17 בְּ֭עֵת יְזֹרְב֣וּ נִצְמָ֑תוּ בְּ֝חֻמּ֗וֹ נִדְעֲכ֥וּ מִמְּקוֹמָֽם׃

KJV 18 The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

WLC 18 יִ֭לָּ֣פְתוּ אָרְח֣וֹת דַּרְכָּ֑ם יַעֲל֖וּ בַתֹּ֣הוּ וְיֹאבֵֽדוּ׃

KJV 19 The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.

WLC 19 הִ֭בִּיטוּ אָרְח֣וֹת תֵּמָ֑א הֲלִיכֹ֥ת שְׁ֝בָ֗א קִוּוּ־ לָֽמוֹ׃

KJV 20 They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.

WLC 20 בֹּ֥שׁוּ כִּֽי־ בָטָ֑ח בָּ֥אוּ עָ֝דֶ֗יהָ וַיֶּחְפָּֽרוּ׃

KJV 21 For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.

WLC 21 כִּֽי־ עַ֭תָּה הֱיִ֣יתֶם תִּֽרְא֥וּ חֲ֝תַ֗ת וַתִּירָֽאוּ׃

KJV 22 Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?

WLC 22 הֲ‍ֽכִי־ אָ֭מַרְתִּי הָ֣בוּ לִ֑י וּ֝מִכֹּחֲכֶ֗ם שִׁחֲד֥וּ בַעֲדִֽי׃

KJV 23 Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?

WLC 23 וּמַלְּט֥וּנִי מִיַּד־ צָ֑ר וּמִיַּ֖ד עָרִיצִ֣ים תִּפְדּֽוּנִי׃

KJV 24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

WLC 24 ה֭וֹרוּנִי וַאֲנִ֣י אַחֲרִ֑ישׁ וּמַה־ שָּׁ֝גִ֗יתִי הָבִ֥ינוּ לִֽי׃

KJV 25 How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?

WLC 25 מַה־ נִּמְרְצ֥וּ אִמְרֵי־ יֹ֑שֶׁר וּמַה־ יּוֹכִ֖יחַ הוֹכֵ֣חַ מִכֶּֽם׃

KJV 26 Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

WLC 26 הַלְהוֹכַ֣ח מִלִּ֣ים תַּחְשֹׁ֑בוּ וּ֝לְר֗וּחַ אִמְרֵ֥י נֹאָֽשׁ׃

KJV 27 Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.

WLC 27 אַף־ עַל־ יָת֥וֹם תַּפִּ֑ילוּ וְ֝תִכְר֗וּ עַל־ רֵֽיעֲכֶֽם׃

KJV 28 Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.

WLC 28 וְ֭עַתָּה הוֹאִ֣ילוּ פְנוּ־ בִ֑י וְעַל־ פְּ֝נֵיכֶ֗ם אִם־ אֲכַזֵּֽב׃

KJV 29 Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.

WLC 29 שֻֽׁבוּ־ נָ֭א אַל־ תְּהִ֣י עַוְלָ֑ה ע֝וֹד צִדְקִי־ בָֽהּ׃

KJV 30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?

WLC 30 הֲיֵשׁ־ בִּלְשׁוֹנִ֥י עַוְלָ֑ה אִם־ חִ֝כִּ֗י לֹא־ יָבִ֥ין הַוּֽוֹת׃
