KJV ¹ Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

WLC ¹ וַ֭יַּעַן בִּלְדַּ֥ד הַשּׁוּחִ֗י וַיֹאמַֽר׃

KJV ² How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

OST ² Jusques à quand parleras-tu ainsi, et les paroles de ta bouche ressembleront-elles à un vent impétueux?

WLC ² עַד־ אָ֥ן תְּמַלֶּל־ אֵ֑לֶּה וְר֥וּחַ כַּ֝בִּיר אִמְרֵי־ פִֽיךָ׃

KJV ³ Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

OST ³ Dieu ferait-il fléchir le droit, le Tout-Puissant ferait-il fléchir la justice?

WLC ³ הַ֭אֵל יְעַוֵּ֣ת מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וְאִם־ שַׁ֝דַּ֗י יְעַוֵּֽת־ צֶֽדֶק׃

KJV ⁴ If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

OST ⁴ Si tes fils ont péché contre lui, il les a livrés à leur crime.

WLC ⁴ אִם־ בָּנֶ֥יךָ חָֽטְאוּ־ ל֑וֹ וַֽ֝יְשַׁלְּחֵ֗ם בְּיַד־ פִּשְׁעָֽם׃

KJV ⁵ If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

OST ⁵ Mais toi, si tu cherches Dieu, et si tu demandes grâce au Tout-Puissant,

WLC ⁵ אִם־ אַ֭תָּה תְּשַׁחֵ֣ר אֶל־ אֵ֑ל וְאֶל־ שַׁ֝דַּ֗י תִּתְחַנָּֽן׃

KJV ⁶ If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

OST ⁶ Si tu es pur et droit, il veillera certainement sur toi; il restaurera la demeure de ta justice;

WLC ⁶ אִם־ זַ֥ךְ וְיָשָׁ֗ר אָ֥תָּה כִּי־ עַ֭תָּה יָעִ֣יר עָלֶ֑יךָ וְ֝שִׁלַּ֗ם נְוַ֣ת צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

KJV ⁷ Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

OST ⁷ Tes commencements auront été peu de chose, et ta fin sera très grande.

WLC ⁷ וְהָיָ֣ה רֵאשִׁיתְךָ֣ מִצְעָ֑ר וְ֝אַחֲרִיתְךָ֗ יִשְׂגֶּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

KJV ⁸ For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

OST ⁸ Interroge, en effet, les générations précédentes, et fais attention aux recherches de leurs pères;

WLC ⁸ כִּֽי־ שְׁאַל־ נָ֭א לְדֹ֣ר רִישׁ֑וֹן וְ֝כוֹנֵ֗ן לְחֵ֣קֶר אֲבוֹתָֽם׃

KJV ⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

OST ⁹ Car nous sommes d'hier et nous ne savons rien; car nos jours sur la terre sont comme une ombre;

WLC ⁹ כִּֽי־ תְמ֣וֹל אֲ֭נַחְנוּ וְלֹ֣א נֵדָ֑ע כִּ֤י צֵ֖ל יָמֵ֣ינוּ עֲלֵי־ אָֽרֶץ׃

KJV ¹⁰ Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

OST ¹⁰ Mais eux, ne t'enseigneront-ils pas, ne te parleront-ils pas, ne tireront-ils pas de leur coeur ces discours:

WLC ¹⁰ הֲלֹא־ הֵ֣ם י֭וֹרוּךָ יֹ֣אמְרוּ לָ֑ךְ וּ֝מִלִּבָּ֗ם יוֹצִ֥אוּ מִלִּֽים׃

KJV ¹¹ Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

OST ¹¹ Le roseau croît-il hors des marais, et le jonc pousse-t-il sans eau?

WLC ¹¹ הֲיִֽגְאֶה־ גֹּ֭מֶא בְּלֹ֣א בִצָּ֑ה יִשְׂגֶּה־ אָ֥חוּ בְלִי־ מָֽיִם׃

KJV ¹² Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

OST ¹² Il est encore en sa verdure, on ne le coupe pas, et avant toutes les herbes, il est desséché.

WLC ¹² עֹדֶ֣נּוּ בְ֭אִבּוֹ לֹ֣א יִקָּטֵ֑ף וְלִפְנֵ֖י כָל־ חָצִ֣יר יִיבָֽשׁ׃

KJV ¹³ So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

OST ¹³ Telle est la destinée de tous ceux qui oublient Dieu: l'espérance de l'impie périra.

WLC ¹³ כֵּ֗ן אָ֭רְחוֹת כָּל־ שֹׁ֣כְחֵי אֵ֑ל וְתִקְוַ֖ת חָנֵ֣ף תֹּאבֵֽד׃

KJV ¹⁴ Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

OST ¹⁴ Sa confiance sera trompée, et sa sécurité deviendra une toile d'araignée;

WLC ¹⁴ אֲשֶׁר־ יָק֥וֹט כִּסְל֑וֹ וּבֵ֥ית עַ֝כָּבִ֗ישׁ מִבְטַחֽוֹ׃

KJV ¹⁵ He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

OST ¹⁵ Il s'appuiera sur sa maison, et elle ne tiendra pas; il s'y cramponnera, et elle ne restera pas debout.

WLC ¹⁵ יִשָּׁעֵ֣ן עַל־ בֵּ֭יתוֹ וְלֹ֣א יַעֲמֹ֑ד יַחֲזִ֥יק בּ֝֗וֹ וְלֹ֣א יָקֽוּם׃

KJV ¹⁶ He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

WLC ¹⁶ רָטֹ֣ב ה֭וּא לִפְנֵי־ שָׁ֑מֶשׁ וְעַ֥ל גַּ֝נָּת֗וֹ יֹֽנַקְתּ֥וֹ תֵצֵֽא׃

KJV ¹⁷ His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

OST ¹⁷ Mais ses racines s'entrelacent sur des monceaux de pierres, il rencontre un sol de rochers,

WLC ¹⁷ עַל־ גַּ֭ל שָֽׁרָשָׁ֣יו יְסֻבָּ֑כוּ בֵּ֖ית אֲבָנִ֣ים יֶחֱזֶֽה׃

KJV ¹⁸ If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

OST ¹⁸ Et si on l'enlève de sa place, celle-ci le renie et lui dit: Je ne t'ai point connu!

WLC ¹⁸ אִם־ יְבַלְּעֶ֥נּוּ מִמְּקוֹמ֑וֹ וְכִ֥חֶשׁ בּ֝֗וֹ לֹ֣א רְאִיתִֽיךָ׃

KJV ¹⁹ Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

OST ¹⁹ Telle est la joie qu'il a de sa conduite, et d'autres après lui s'élèveront de la poussière.

WLC ¹⁹ הֶן־ ה֭וּא מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וּ֝מֵעָפָ֗ר אַחֵ֥ר יִצְמָֽחוּ׃

KJV ²⁰ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

OST ²⁰ C'est ainsi que Dieu ne rejette pas l'homme intègre, mais il ne donne pas la main aux méchants.

WLC ²⁰ הֶן־ אֵ֭ל לֹ֣א יִמְאַס־ תָּ֑ם וְלֹֽא־ יַ֝חֲזִ֗יק בְּיַד־ מְרֵעִֽים׃

KJV ²¹ Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

OST ²¹ Il remplira encore ta bouche de joie, et tes lèvres de chants d'allégresse.

WLC ²¹ עַד־ יְמַלֵּ֣ה שְׂח֣וֹק פִּ֑יךָ וּשְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ תְרוּעָֽה׃

KJV ²² They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

OST ²² Tes ennemis seront couverts de honte, et la tente des méchants ne sera plus!

WLC ²² שֹׂנְאֶ֥יךָ יִלְבְּשׁוּ־ בֹ֑שֶׁת וְאֹ֖הֶל רְשָׁעִ֣ים אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃
