LSG ² Écoutez ceci, vieillards ! Prêtez l'oreille, vous tous, habitants du pays ! Rien de pareil est-il arrivé de votre temps, Ou du temps de vos pères ?

VULC ² [Audite hoc, senes,
et auribus percipite, omnes habitatores terræ :
si factum est istud in diebus vestris,
aut in diebus patrum vestrorum ?

KJV ³ Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

LSG ³ Racontez-le à vos enfants, Et que vos enfants le racontent à leurs enfants, Et leurs enfants à la génération qui suivra !

VULC ³ Super hoc filiis vestris narrate,
et filii vestri filiis suis,
et filii eorum generationi alteræ.

KJV ⁴ That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.

VULC ⁴ Residuum erucæ comedit locusta,
et residuum locustæ comedit bruchus,

KJV ⁵ Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

LSG ⁵ Réveillez-vous, ivrognes, et pleurez ! Vous tous, buveurs de vin, gémissez, Parce que le moût vous est enlevé de la bouche !

VULC ⁵ Expergiscimini, ebrii,
et flete et ululate, omnes qui bibitis vinum in dulcedine,
quoniam periit ab ore vestro.

KJV ⁶ For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

LSG ⁶ Car un peuple est venu fondre sur mon pays, Puissant et innombrable. Il a les dents d'un lion, Les mâchoires d'une lionne.

VULC ⁶ Gens enim ascendit super terram meam,
fortis et innumerabilis :
dentes ejus ut dentes leonis,
et molares ejus ut catuli leonis.

KJV ⁷ He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

LSG ⁷ Il a dévasté ma vigne ; Il a mis en morceaux mon figuier, Il l'a dépouillé, abattu ; Les rameaux de la vigne ont blanchi.

VULC ⁷ Posuit vineam meam in desertum,
et ficum meam decorticavit ;
nudans spoliavit eam, et projecit :
albi facti sunt rami ejus.

KJV ⁸ Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

LSG ⁸ Lamente-toi, comme la vierge qui se revêt d'un sac Pour pleurer l'ami de sa jeunesse !

VULC ⁸ Plange quasi virgo accincta sacco super virum pubertatis suæ.

KJV ⁹ The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.

LSG ⁹ Offrandes et libations disparaissent de la maison de l'Éternel ; Les sacrificateurs, serviteurs de l'Éternel, sont dans le deuil.

VULC ⁹ Periit sacrificium et libatio de domo Domini ;
luxerunt sacerdotes, ministri Domini.

KJV ¹⁰ The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.

LSG ¹⁰ Les champs sont ravagés, La terre est attristée ; Car les blés sont détruits, Le moût est tari, l'huile est desséchée.

VULC ¹⁰ Depopulata est regio,
luxit humus,
quoniam devastatum est triticum,
confusum est vinum,
elanguit oleum.

KJV ¹¹ Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

LSG ¹¹ Les laboureurs sont consternés, les vignerons gémissent, A cause du froment et de l'orge, Parce que la moisson des champs est perdue.

VULC ¹¹ Confusi sunt agricolæ,
ululaverunt vinitores
super frumento et hordeo,
quia periit messis agri.

KJV ¹² The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

LSG ¹² La vigne est confuse, Le figuier languissant ; Le grenadier, le palmier, le pommier, Tous les arbres des champs sont flétris... La joie a cessé parmi les fils de l'homme !

VULC ¹² Vinea confusa est,
et ficus elanguit ;
malogranatum, et palma, et malum,
et omnia ligna agri aruerunt,
quia confusum est gaudium a filiis hominum.

KJV ¹³ Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

LSG ¹³ Sacrificateurs, ceignez-vous et pleurez ! Lamentez-vous, serviteurs de l'autel ! Venez, passez la nuit revêtus de sacs, Serviteurs de mon Dieu ! Car offrandes et libations ont disparu de la maison de votre Dieu.

VULC ¹³ Accingite vos, et plangite, sacerdotes :
ululate, ministri altaris ;
ingredimini, cubate in sacco, ministri Dei mei,
quoniam interiit de domo Dei vestri sacrificium et libatio.

KJV ¹⁴ Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,

LSG ¹⁴ Publiez un jeûne, une convocation solennelle ! Assemblez les vieillards, tous les habitants du pays, Dans la maison de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, Et criez à l'Éternel !

VULC ¹⁴ Sanctificate jejunium, vocate cœtum,
congregate senes, omnes habitatores terræ
in domum Dei vestri,
et clamate ad Dominum :

KJV ¹⁵ Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

LSG ¹⁵ Ah ! quel jour ! Car le jour de l'Éternel est proche: Il vient comme un ravage du Tout Puissant.

quia prope est dies Domini,
et quasi vastitas a potente veniet.

KJV ¹⁶ Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

LSG ¹⁶ La nourriture n'est-elle pas enlevée sous nos yeux ? La joie et l'allégresse n'ont-elles pas disparu de la maison de notre Dieu ?

VULC ¹⁶ Numquid non coram oculis vestris alimenta perierunt
de domo Dei nostri, lætitia et exsultatio ?

KJV ¹⁷ The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

LSG ¹⁷ Les semences ont séché sous les mottes ; Les greniers sont vides, Les magasins sont en ruines, Car il n'y a point de blé.

VULC ¹⁷ Computruerunt jumenta in stercore suo,
demolita sunt horrea,
dissipatæ sunt apothecæ,
quoniam confusum est triticum.

KJV ¹⁸ How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

quia non est pascua eis ;
sed et greges pecorum disperierunt.

KJV ¹⁹ O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

VULC ¹⁹ Ad te, Domine, clamabo,
quia ignis comedit speciosa deserti,
et flamma succendit omnia ligna regionis.

KJV ²⁰ The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
