BAN ² Et leur dit : Vous avez observé tout ce que Moïse, serviteur de l'Eternel, vous a prescrit et vous avez obéi à ma voix dans tout ce que je vous ai commandé.

KJV ² And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:

VULC ² dixitque ad eos : Fecistis omnia quæ præcepit vobis Moyses famulus Domini : mihi quoque in omnibus obedistis,

WLC ² וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אַתֶּ֣ם שְׁמַרְתֶּ֔ם אֵ֚ת כָּל־ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֔ם מֹשֶׁ֖ה עֶ֣בֶד יְהוָ֑ה וַתִּשְׁמְע֣וּ בְקוֹלִ֔י לְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־ צִוִּ֖יתִי אֶתְכֶֽם׃

BAN ³ Vous n'avez pas abandonné vos frères durant tout le temps qui vient de s'écouler jusqu'à aujourd'hui, et vous avez observé ce que vous deviez observer, le commandement de IEternel votre Dieu.

KJV ³ Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

VULC ³ nec reliquistis fratres vestros longo tempore, usque in præsentem diem, custodientes imperium Domini Dei vestri.

WLC ³ לֹֽא־ עֲזַבְתֶּ֣ם אֶת־ אֲחֵיכֶ֗ם זֶ֚ה יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֕ם אֶת־ מִשְׁמֶ֕רֶת מִצְוַ֖ת יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

BAN ⁴ Et maintenant que l'Eternel, votre Dieu, a donné du repos à vos frères comme il le leur avait promis, retournez et vous en allez vers vos tentes, au pays qui est votre possession, que Moïse, serviteur de l'Eternel, vous a donné de l'autre côté du Jourdain.

KJV ⁴ And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.

VULC ⁴ Quia igitur dedit Dominus Deus vester fratribus vestris quietem et pacem, sicut pollicitus est : revertimini, et ite in tabernacula vestra, et in terram possessionis, quam tradidit vobis Moyses famulus Domini trans Jordanem :

WLC ⁴ וְעַתָּ֗ה הֵנִ֨יחַ יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ לַֽאֲחֵיכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֣ר לָהֶ֑ם וְעַתָּ֡ה פְּנוּ֩ וּלְכ֨וּ לָכֶ֜ם לְאָהֳלֵיכֶ֗ם אֶל־ אֶ֙רֶץ֙ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ נָתַ֣ן לָכֶ֗ם מֹשֶׁה֙ עֶ֣בֶד יְהוָ֔ה בְּעֵ֖בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

BAN ⁵ Seulement, ayez bien soin de mettre en pratique le commandement et la loi que Moïse, serviteur de l'Eternel, vous a prescrits, d'aimer l'Eternel votre Dieu, de marcher dans toutes ses voies, d'observer ses ordonnances, de vous attacher à lui, et de le servir de tout votre coeur et de toute votre âme.

KJV ⁵ But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

VULC ⁵ ita dumtaxat ut custodiatis attente, et opere compleatis mandatum et legem quam præcepit vobis Moyses famulus Domini, ut diligatis Dominum Deum vestrum, et ambuletis in omnibus viis ejus, et observetis mandata illius, adhæreatisque ei, ac serviatis in omni corde, et in omni anima vestra.

WLC ⁵ רַ֣ק ׀ שִׁמְר֣וּ מְאֹ֗ד לַעֲשׂ֨וֹת אֶת־ הַמִּצְוָ֣ה וְאֶת־ הַתּוֹרָה֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶם֮ מֹשֶׁ֣ה עֶֽבֶד־ יְהוָה֒ לְ֠אַהֲבָה אֶת־ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֜ם וְלָלֶ֧כֶת בְּכָל־ דְּרָכָ֛יו וְלִשְׁמֹ֥ר מִצְוֺתָ֖יו וּלְדָבְקָה־ ב֑וֹ וּלְעָבְד֕וֹ בְּכָל־ לְבַבְכֶ֖ם וּבְכָל־ נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃

BAN ⁶ Et Josué les bénit et les congédia, et ils s'en allèrent vers leurs tentes.

KJV ⁶ So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.

VULC ⁶ Benedixitque eis Josue, et dimisit eos. Qui reversi sunt in tabernacula sua.

WLC ⁶ וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אֶל־ אָהֳלֵיהֶֽם׃

BAN ⁷ Et Moïse avait donné [un territoire] en Basan à la demi-tribu de Manassé, et Josué avait donné de même [un territoire] à l'autre demi-tribu, en deçà du Jourdain, à l'occident ; et lorsque Josué les renvoya vers leurs tentes, il les bénit ;

KJV ⁷ Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,

VULC ⁷ Dimidiæ autem tribui Manasse possessionem Moyses dederat in Basan : et idcirco mediæ, quæ superfuit, dedit Josue sortem inter ceteros fratres suos trans Jordanem ad occidentalem plagam. Cumque dimitteret eos in tabernacula sua, et benedixisset eis,

WLC ⁷ וְלַחֲצִ֣י ׀ שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה נָתַ֣ן מֹשֶׁה֮ בַּבָּשָׁן֒ וּלְחֶצְי֗וֹ נָתַ֤ן יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ עִם־ אֲחֵיהֶ֔ם הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן יָ֑מָּה וְ֠גַם כִּ֣י שִׁלְּחָ֧ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶל־ אָהֳלֵיהֶ֖ם וַיְבָרֲכֵֽם׃

BAN ⁸ il leur parla aussi, en disant : Vous vous en retournez vers vos tentes avec de grandes richesses, avec de très nombreux troupeaux, avec de l'argent, de l'or, de l'airain, du fer et des vêtements en fort grande quantité ; partagez avec vos frères le butin de vos ennemis.

KJV ⁸ And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

VULC ⁸ dixit ad eos : In multa substantia atque divitiis revertimini ad sedes vestras, cum argento et auro, ære ac ferro, et veste multiplici : dividite prædam hostium cum fratribus vestris.

WLC ⁸ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗ר בִּנְכָסִ֨ים רַבִּ֜ים שׁ֤וּבוּ אֶל־ אָֽהֳלֵיכֶם֙ וּבְמִקְנֶ֣ה רַב־ מְאֹ֔ד בְּכֶ֨סֶף וּבְזָהָ֜ב וּבִנְחֹ֧שֶׁת וּבְבַרְזֶ֛ל וּבִשְׂלָמ֖וֹת הַרְבֵּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד חִלְק֥וּ שְׁלַל־ אֹיְבֵיכֶ֖ם עִם־ אֲחֵיכֶֽם׃

BAN ⁹ Et les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé s'en retournèrent et quittèrent les fils d'Israël, à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, pour s'en aller dans le pays de Galaad, qui était la propriété qu'ils avaient reçue, d'après l'ordre de l'Eternel donné par la bouche de Moïse.

KJV ⁹ And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

WLC ⁹ וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ וַיֵּלְכ֡וּ בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֨ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֜ד וַחֲצִ֣י ׀ שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה מֵאֵת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִשִּׁלֹ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּאֶֽרֶץ־ כְּנָ֑עַן לָלֶ֜כֶת אֶל־ אֶ֣רֶץ הַגִּלְעָ֗ד אֶל־ אֶ֤רֶץ אֲחֻזָּתָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נֹֽאחֲזוּ־ בָ֔הּ עַל־ פִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה בְּיַד־ מֹשֶֽׁה׃

BAN ¹⁰ Et ils arrivèrent dans les districts du Jourdain qui appartiennent au pays de Canaan, et les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé bâtirent là un autel au bord du Jourdain, un autel d'une grandeur remarquable.

KJV ¹⁰ And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.

VULC ¹⁰ Cumque venissent ad tumulos Jordanis in terram Chanaan, ædificaverunt juxta Jordanem altare infinitæ magnitudinis.

WLC ¹⁰ וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ אֶל־ גְּלִיל֣וֹת הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וַיִּבְנ֣וּ בְנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֣ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֡ד וַחֲצִ֣י שֵׁבֶט֩ הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֨ה שָׁ֤ם מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ עַל־ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן מִזְבֵּ֥חַ גָּד֖וֹל לְמַרְאֶֽה׃

BAN ¹¹ Et les fils d'Israël apprirent que l'on disait : Voilà que les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé ont bâti un autel sur le devant du pays de Canaan, dans les districts du Jourdain, du côté des fils d'Israël.

KJV ¹¹ And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.

VULC ¹¹ Quod cum audissent filii Israël, et ad eos certi nuntii detulissent, ædificasse filios Ruben, et Gad, et dimidiæ tribus Manasse, altare in terra Chanaan, super Jordanis tumulos, contra filios Israël :

WLC ¹¹ וַיִּשְׁמְע֥וּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֣ה בָנ֣וּ בְנֵֽי־ רְאוּבֵ֣ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֡ד וַחֲצִי֩ שֵׁ֨בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֜ה אֶת־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ אֶל־ מוּל֙ אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן אֶל־ גְּלִילוֹת֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן אֶל־ עֵ֖בֶר בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ¹² Et les fils d'Israël l'apprirent et ils convoquèrent toute l'assemblée des fils d'Israël à Silo pour se mettre en campagne contre eux.

KJV ¹² And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.

VULC ¹² convenerunt omnes in Silo, ut ascenderent, et dimicarent contra eos.

KJV ¹³ And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

VULC ¹³ Et interim miserunt ad illos in terram Galaad Phinees filium Eleazari sacerdotis,

WLC ¹³ וַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּ בְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶל־ בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֧ן וְאֶל־ בְּנֵי־ גָ֛ד וְאֶל־ חֲצִ֥י שֵֽׁבֶט־ מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה אֶל־ אֶ֣רֶץ הַגִּלְעָ֑ד אֶת־ פִּינְחָ֖ס בֶּן־ אֶלְעָזָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

BAN ¹⁴ et avec lui dix princes, un prince pour chaque maison de toutes les tribus d'Israël ; et ils étaient chacun chef de leur maison patriarcale dans les milliers d'Israël.

KJV ¹⁴ And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

VULC ¹⁴ et decem principes cum eo, singulos de singulis tribubus.

BAN ¹⁵ Et ils vinrent vers les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé, dans le pays de Galaad, et leur parlèrent, en disant :

WLC ¹⁵ וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ אֶל־ בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֧ן וְאֶל־ בְּנֵי־ גָ֛ד וְאֶל־ חֲצִ֥י שֵֽׁבֶט־ מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה אֶל־ אֶ֣רֶץ הַגִּלְעָ֑ד וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ אִתָּ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃

BAN ¹⁶ Ainsi a dit toute l'assemblée de l'Eternel : Qu'est-ce que cette infidélité que vous avez commise, contre le Dieu d'Israël, que vous vous détourniez aujourd'hui de l'Eternel en vous bâtissant un autel pour vous révolter aujourd'hui contre l'Eternel ?

KJV ¹⁶ Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?

VULC ¹⁶ Hæc mandat omnis populus Domini : Quæ est ista transgressio ? cur reliquistis Dominum Deum Israël, ædificantes altare sacrilegum, et a cultu illius recedentes ?

WLC ¹⁶ כֹּ֣ה אָמְר֞וּ כֹּ֣ל ׀ עֲדַ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה מָֽה־ הַמַּ֤עַל הַזֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר מְעַלְתֶּם֙ בֵּאלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לָשׁ֣וּב הַיּ֔וֹם מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י יְהוָ֑ה בִּבְנֽוֹתְכֶ֤ם לָכֶם֙ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ לִמְרָדְכֶ֥ם הַיּ֖וֹם בַּיהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁷ Serait-ce trop peu pour, nous que l'iniquité de Péor, dont nous ne nous sommes pas purifiés jusqu'à ce jour, malgré la plaie qui a frappé l'assemblée de l'Eternel ?

KJV ¹⁷ Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,

VULC ¹⁷ an parum vobis est quod peccastis in Beelphegor, et usque in præsentem diem macula hujus sceleris in nobis permanet, multique de populo corruerunt ?

WLC ¹⁷ הַמְעַט־ לָ֙נוּ֙ אֶת־ עֲוֺ֣ן פְּע֔וֹר אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־ הִטַּהַ֙רְנוּ֙ מִמֶּ֔נּוּ עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וַיְהִ֥י הַנֶּ֖גֶף בַּעֲדַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

BAN ¹⁸ Et vous, vous vous détournez aujourd'hui de l'Eternel ! et il arrivera que, si aujourd'hui vous vous révoltez contre l'Eternel, demain il s'irritera contre toute l'assemblée d'Israël.

KJV ¹⁸ But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.

VULC ¹⁸ Et vos hodie reliquistis Dominum, et cras in universum Israël ira ejus desæviet.

WLC ¹⁸ וְאַתֶּם֙ תָּשֻׁ֣בוּ הַיּ֔וֹם מֵאַחֲרֵ֖י יְהוָ֑ה וְהָיָ֗ה אַתֶּ֞ם תִּמְרְד֤וּ הַיּוֹם֙ בַּֽיהוָ֔ה וּמָחָ֕ר אֶֽל־ כָּל־ עֲדַ֥ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל יִקְצֹֽף׃

BAN ¹⁹ Que si le pays que vous possédez est impur, passez dans le pays de la possession de l'Eternel, où l'Eternel a fixé sa résidence, et avez votre propriété au milieu de nous ; mais ne vous révoltez point contre l'Eternel et ne vous séparez point de nous en vous bâtissant un autel autre que celui de l'Eternel notre Dieu !

KJV ¹⁹ Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.

VULC ¹⁹ Quod si putatis immundam esse terram possessionis vestræ, transite ad terram, in qua tabernaculum Domini est, et habitate inter nos : tantum ut a Domino et a nostro consortio non recedatis, ædificato altari præter altare Domini Dei nostri.

WLC ¹⁹ וְאַ֨ךְ אִם־ טְמֵאָ֜ה אֶ֣רֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶ֗ם עִבְר֨וּ לָכֶ֜ם אֶל־ אֶ֨רֶץ אֲחֻזַּ֤ת יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר שָֽׁכַן־ שָׁם֙ מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהוָ֔ה וְהֵאָחֲז֖וּ בְּתוֹכֵ֑נוּ וּבַֽיהוָ֣ה אַל־ תִּמְרֹ֗דוּ וְאֹתָ֙נוּ֙ אֶל־ תִּמְרֹ֔דוּ בִּבְנֹֽתְכֶ֤ם לָכֶם֙ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ מִֽבַּלְעֲדֵ֔י מִזְבַּ֖ח יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

BAN ²⁰ Acan, fils de Zérach, n'a-t-il pas commis infidélité par rapport à l'interdit ? et la vengeance a éclaté sur toute l'assemblée d'Israël. Il n'a pas péri seul pour son iniquité.

KJV ²⁰ Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.

VULC ²⁰ Nonne Achan filius Zare præteriit mandatum Domini, et super omnem populum Israël ira ejus incubuit ? et ille erat unus homo, atque utinam solum periisset in scelere suo.

WLC ²⁰ הֲל֣וֹא ׀ עָכָ֣ן בֶּן־ זֶ֗רַח מָ֤עַל מַ֙עַל֙ בַּחֵ֔רֶם וְעַֽל־ כָּל־ עֲדַ֥ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הָ֣יָה קָ֑צֶף וְהוּא֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶחָ֔ד לֹ֥א גָוַ֖ע בַּעֲוֺנֽוֹ׃

BAN ²¹ Et les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et la demi-tribu de Manassé répondirent et dirent aux chefs des milliers d'Israël :

KJV ²¹ Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,

VULC ²¹ Responderuntque filii Ruben et Gad, et dimidia tribus Manasse, principibus legationis Israël :

WLC ²¹ וַֽיַּעֲנוּ֙ בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֣ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֔ד וַחֲצִ֖י שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וַֽיְדַבְּר֔וּ אֶת־ רָאשֵׁ֖י אַלְפֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²² Le Dieu fort, Dieu, l'Eternel, sait, et Israël saura ! Que l'Eternel lui-même nous en demande compte, si c'est par révolte et par infidélité envers l'Eternel (ne nous soit, point en aide en ce jour-là !)

BAN ²³ que nous nous sommes bâti un autel, pour nous détourner de l'Eternel, pour y offrir des holocaustes et des dons, pour y faire des sacrifices d'actions de grâces,

KJV ²³ That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;

VULC ²³ et si ea mente fecimus ut holocausta, et sacrificium, et pacificas victimas super eo imponeremus, ipse quærat et judicet :

WLC ²³ לִבְנ֥וֹת לָ֙נוּ֙ מִזְבֵּ֔חַ לָשׁ֖וּב מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְאִם־ לְהַעֲל֨וֹת עָלָ֜יו עוֹלָ֣ה וּמִנְחָ֗ה וְאִם־ לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת עָלָיו֙ זִבְחֵ֣י שְׁלָמִ֔ים יְהוָ֖ה ה֥וּא יְבַקֵּֽשׁ׃

BAN ²⁴ et si nous ne l'avons pas fait parce que nous craignions que vos fils un jour parlant à nos fils ne leur disent : Qu'avez-vous de commun avec l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël ?

KJV ²⁴ And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?

VULC ²⁴ et non ea magis cogitatione atque tractatu, ut diceremus : Cras dicent filii vestri filiis nostris : Quid vobis et Domino Deo Israël ?

WLC ²⁴ וְאִם־ לֹ֤א מִדְּאָגָה֙ מִדָּבָ֔ר עָשִׂ֥ינוּ אֶת־ זֹ֖את לֵאמֹ֑ר מָחָ֗ר יֹאמְר֨וּ בְנֵיכֶ֤ם לְבָנֵ֙ינוּ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מַה־ לָּכֶ֕ם וְלַֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

BAN ²⁵ Comme limite entre nous et vous, fils de Ruben et fils de Gad, l'Eternel a placé le Jourdain ; vous n'avez donc point de part à l'Eternel !
Et ainsi vos fils empêcheraient nos fils de craindre l'Eternel.

KJV ²⁵ For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.

BAN ²⁶ Et nous nous sommes dit : Mettons-nous à bâtir l'autel, non point pour des holocaustes et des sacrifices,

KJV ²⁶ Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:

VULC ²⁶ et diximus : Exstruamus nobis altare, non in holocausta, neque ad victimas offerendas,

WLC ²⁶ וַנֹּ֕אמֶר נַעֲשֶׂה־ נָּ֣א לָ֔נוּ לִבְנ֖וֹת אֶת־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ לֹ֥א לְעוֹלָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א לְזָֽבַח׃

BAN ²⁷ mais afin qu'il soit un témoin entre nous et vous, et les générations après nous, que nous servons l'Eternel, devant lui, avec nos holocaustes, nos sacrifices et nos offrandes d'actions de grâces, et afin que vos fils ne disent pas un jour à nos fils : Vous n'avez point de part à l'Eternel !

KJV ²⁷ But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

BAN ²⁸ Et nous avons dit : S'ils venaient un jour à tenir ce langage à nous et à nos descendants, nous répondrions : Voyez la forme de l'autel de l'Eternel, que nos pères ont construit non point pour servir à l'holocauste et au sacrifice, mais pour être un témoin entre nous et vous !

KJV ²⁸ Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.

BAN ²⁹ Loin de nous de nous rebeller contre lui et de nous détourner aujourd'hui de l'Eternel, en bâtissant un autel qui serve à l'holocauste, à l'offrande et au sacrifice, outre l'autel de l'Eternel notre Dieu qui est devant sa Demeure !

KJV ²⁹ God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.

BAN ³⁰ Et Phinées, le sacrificateur, et les princes de l'assemblée et les chefs des milliers d'Israël qui étaient avec lui, entendirent les paroles que prononçaient les fils de Ruben, les fils de Gad et les fils de Manassé, et les approuvèrent.

KJV ³⁰ And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.

BAN ³¹ Et Phinées, fils d'Eléazar, le sacrificateur, dit aux fils de Ruben, aux fils de Gad et aux fils de Manassé : Aujourd'hui nous connaissons que l'Eternel est au milieu de nous, puisque vous n'avez point commis cette infidélité-là envers l'Eternel ; ainsi vous avez délivré les fils d'Israël de la main de l'Eternel.

KJV ³¹ And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.

VULC ³¹ Dixitque Phinees filius Eleazari sacerdos ad eos : Nunc scimus quod nobiscum sit Dominus, quoniam alieni estis a prævaricatione hac, et liberastis filios Israël de manu Domini.

BAN ³² Et Phinées, fils d'Eléazar, le sacrificateur, et les princes retournèrent d'auprès des fils de Ruben et des fils de Gad, du pays de Galaad au pays de Canaan vers les fils d'Israël, et leur rapportèrent ce qui s'était passé.

KJV ³² And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.

VULC ³² Reversusque est cum principibus a filiis Ruben et Gad de terra Galaad, finium Chanaan, ad filios Israël, et retulit eis.

WLC ³² וַיָּ֣שָׁב פִּֽינְחָ֣ס בֶּן־ אֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֣ן ׀ וְהַנְּשִׂיאִ֡ים מֵאֵ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־ רְאוּבֵן֩ וּמֵאֵ֨ת בְּנֵי־ גָ֜ד מֵאֶ֧רֶץ הַגִּלְעָ֛ד אֶל־ אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנַ֖עַן אֶל־ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּשִׁ֥בוּ אוֹתָ֖ם דָּבָֽר׃

BAN ³³ Et la chose plut aux fils d'Israël. Et les fils d'Israël bénirent Dieu et ne parlèrent plus de se mettre en campagne contre eux pour dévaster le pays qu'habitaient les fils de Ruben et les fils de Gad.

KJV ³³ And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.

VULC ³³ Placuitque sermo cunctis audientibus. Et laudaverunt Deum filii Israël, et nequaquam ultra dixerunt, ut ascenderent contra eos, atque pugnarent, et delerent terram possessionis eorum.

WLC ³³ וַיִּיטַ֣ב הַדָּבָ֗ר בְּעֵינֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיְבָרֲכ֥וּ אֱלֹהִ֖ים בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֣א אָמְר֗וּ לַעֲל֤וֹת עֲלֵיהֶם֙ לַצָּבָ֔א לְשַׁחֵת֙ אֶת־ הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֛ר בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֥ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֖ד יֹשְׁבִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃

BAN ³⁴ Et les fils de Ruben et les fils de Gad donnèrent un nom à l'autel : car [dirent-ils] il est témoin entre nous que l'Eternel est Dieu.

KJV ³⁴ And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.

VULC ³⁴ Vocaveruntque filii Ruben, et filii Gad, altare quod exstruxerant, Testimonium nostrum, quod Dominus ipse sit Deus.

WLC ³⁴ וַֽיִּקְרְא֛וּ בְּנֵי־ רְאוּבֵ֥ן וּבְנֵי־ גָ֖ד לַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ כִּ֣י עֵ֥ד הוּא֙ בֵּֽינֹתֵ֔ינוּ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
