Josué 24KJV 1 And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

WLC 1 וַיֶּאֶסֹ֧ף יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ אֶת־ כָּל־ שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שְׁכֶ֑מָה וַיִּקְרָא֩ לְזִקְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל וּלְרָאשָׁ֗יו וּלְשֹֽׁפְטָיו֙ וּלְשֹׁ֣טְרָ֔יו וַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
KJV 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
VULC 2 et ad populum sic locutus est : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Trans fluvium habitaverunt patres vestri ab initio, Thare pater Abraham et Nachor : servieruntque diis alienis.
WLC 2 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־ כָּל־ הָעָ֗ם כֹּֽה־ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָה֮ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֗ר יָשְׁב֤וּ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם תֶּ֛רַח אֲבִ֥י אַבְרָהָ֖ם וַאֲבִ֣י נָח֑וֹר וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
KJV 3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

WLC 3 וָ֠אֶקַּח אֶת־ אֲבִיכֶ֤ם אֶת־ אַבְרָהָם֙ מֵעֵ֣בֶר הַנָּהָ֔ר וָאוֹלֵ֥ךְ אוֹת֖וֹ בְּכָל־ אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן אֶת־ זַרְע֔וֹ וָֽאֶתֶּן־ ל֖וֹ אֶת־ יִצְחָֽק׃
KJV 4 And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
VULC 4 et dedi ei Isaac : illique rursum dedi Jacob et Esau. E quibus, Esau dedi montem Seir ad possidendum : Jacob vero et filii ejus descenderunt in Ægyptum.

KJV 5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.

WLC 5 וָאֶשְׁלַ֞ח אֶת־ מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאֶֽת־ אַהֲרֹן֙ וָאֶגֹּ֣ף אֶת־ מִצְרַ֔יִם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ וְאַחַ֖ר הוֹצֵ֥אתִי אֶתְכֶֽם׃
KJV 6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.
VULC 6 Eduxique vos et patres vestros de Ægypto, et venistis ad mare : persecutique sunt Ægyptii patres vestros cum curribus et equitatu, usque ad mare Rubrum.
WLC 6 וָֽאוֹצִ֤יא אֶת־ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם וַתָּבֹ֖אוּ הַיָּ֑מָּה וַיִּרְדְּפ֨וּ מִצְרַ֜יִם אַחֲרֵ֧י אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֛ם בְּרֶ֥כֶב וּבְפָרָשִׁ֖ים יַם־ סֽוּף׃
KJV 7 And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
VULC 7 Clamaverunt autem ad Dominum filii Israël : qui posuit tenebras inter vos et Ægyptios, et adduxit super eos mare, et operuit eos. Viderunt oculi vestri cuncta quæ in Ægypto fecerim, et habitastis in solitudine multo tempore :
WLC 7 וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ אֶל־ יְהוָ֗ה וַיָּ֨שֶׂם מַֽאֲפֵ֜ל בֵּינֵיכֶ֣ם ׀ וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּצְרִ֗ים וַיָּבֵ֨א עָלָ֤יו אֶת־ הַיָּם֙ וַיְכַסֵּ֔הוּ וַתִּרְאֶ֙ינָה֙ עֵינֵיכֶ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־ עָשִׂ֖יתִי בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַתֵּשְׁב֥וּ בַמִּדְבָּ֖ר יָמִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃
KJV 8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
VULC 8 et introduxi vos in terram Amorrhæi, qui habitabat trans Jordanem. Cumque pugnarent contra vos, tradidi eos in manus vestras, et possedistis terram eorum, atque interfecistis eos.

KJV 9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:
VULC 9 Surrexit autem Balac filius Sephor rex Moab, et pugnavit contra Israëlem. Misitque et vocavit Balaam filium Beor, ut malediceret vobis :
WLC 9 וַיָּ֨קָם בָּלָ֤ק בֶּן־ צִפּוֹר֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מוֹאָ֔ב וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח וַיִּקְרָ֛א לְבִלְעָ֥ם בֶּן־ בְּע֖וֹר לְקַלֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶֽם׃
KJV 10 But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
VULC 10 et ego nolui audire eum, sed e contrario per illum benedixi vobis, et liberavi vos de manu ejus.
WLC 10 וְלֹ֥א אָבִ֖יתִי לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ לְבִלְעָ֑ם וַיְבָ֤רֶךְ בָּרוֹךְ֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וָאַצִּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִיָּדֽוֹ׃
KJV 11 And you went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
VULC 11 Transistisque Jordanem, et venistis ad Jericho. Pugnaveruntque contra vos viri civitatis ejus, Amorrhæus et Pherezæus, et Chananæus, et Hethæus, et Gergezæus, et Hevæus, et Jebusæus : et tradidi illos in manus vestras.
WLC 11 וַתַּעַבְר֣וּ אֶת־ הַיַּרְדֵּן֮ וַתָּבֹ֣אוּ אֶל־ יְרִיחוֹ֒ וַיִּלָּחֲמ֣וּ בָכֶ֣ם בַּעֲלֵֽי־ יְ֠רִיחוֹ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֨י וְהַפְּרִזִּ֜י וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֗י וְהַֽחִתִּי֙ וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁ֔י הַֽחִוִּ֖י וְהַיְבוּסִ֑י וָאֶתֵּ֥ן אוֹתָ֖ם בְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃
KJV 12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
VULC 12 Misique ante vos crabrones : et ejeci eos de locis suis, duos reges Amorrhæorum, non in gladio nec in arcu tuo.

KJV 13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
VULC 13 Dedique vobis terram, in qua non laborastis, et urbes quas non ædificastis, ut habitaretis in eis : vineas, et oliveta, quæ non plantastis.
WLC 13 וָאֶתֵּ֨ן לָכֶ֜ם אֶ֣רֶץ ׀ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־ יָגַ֣עְתָּ בָּ֗הּ וְעָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־ בְנִיתֶ֔ם וַתֵּשְׁב֖וּ בָּהֶ֑ם כְּרָמִ֤ים וְזֵיתִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־ נְטַעְתֶּ֔ם אַתֶּ֖ם אֹכְלִֽים׃
KJV 14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
VULC 14 Nunc ergo timete Dominum, et servite ei perfecto corde atque verissimo : et auferte deos quibus servierunt patres vestri in Mesopotamia et in Ægypto, ac servite Domino.
WLC 14 וְעַתָּ֞ה יְר֧אוּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֛ה וְעִבְד֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ בְּתָמִ֣ים וּבֶֽאֱמֶ֑ת וְהָסִ֣ירוּ אֶת־ אֱלֹהִ֗ים אֲשֶׁר֩ עָבְד֨וּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֜ם בְּעֵ֤בֶר הַנָּהָר֙ וּבְמִצְרַ֔יִם וְעִבְד֖וּ אֶת־ יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
VULC 15 Sin autem malum vobis videtur ut Domino serviatis, optio vobis datur : eligite hodie quod placet, cui servire potissimum debeatis : utrum diis, quibus servierunt patres vestri in Mesopotamia, an diis Amorrhæorum, in quorum terra habitatis : ego autem et domus mea serviemus Domino.
WLC 15 וְאִם֩ רַ֨ע בְּֽעֵינֵיכֶ֜ם לַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־ יְהוָ֗ה בַּחֲר֨וּ לָכֶ֣ם הַיּוֹם֮ אֶת־ מִ֣י תַעֲבֹדוּן֒ אִ֣ם אֶת־ אֱלֹהִ֞ים אֲשֶׁר־ עָבְד֣וּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ הַנָּהָ֔ר וְאִם֙ אֶת־ אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתֶּ֖ם יֹשְׁבִ֣ים בְּאַרְצָ֑ם וְאָנֹכִ֣י וּבֵיתִ֔י נַעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת־ יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
VULC 16 Responditque populus, et ait : Absit a nobis ut relinquamus Dominum, et serviamus diis alienis.
WLC 16 וַיַּ֤עַן הָעָם֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר חָלִ֣ילָה לָּ֔נוּ מֵעֲזֹ֖ב אֶת־ יְהוָ֑ה לַעֲבֹ֖ד אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
KJV 17 For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
VULC 17 Dominus Deus noster, ipse eduxit nos et patres nostros de terra Ægypti, de domo servitutis : fecitque videntibus nobis signa ingentia, et custodivit nos in omni via per quam ambulavimus, et in cunctis populis per quos transivimus.
WLC 17 כִּ֚י יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ הוּא֩ הַמַּעֲלֶ֨ה אֹתָ֧נוּ וְאֶת־ אֲבוֹתֵ֛ינוּ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם מִבֵּ֣ית עֲבָדִ֑ים וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר עָשָׂ֣ה לְעֵינֵ֗ינוּ אֶת־ הָאֹת֤וֹת הַגְּדֹלוֹת֙ הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַֽיִּשְׁמְרֵ֗נוּ בְּכָל־ הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָלַ֣כְנוּ בָ֔הּ וּבְכֹל֙ הָֽעַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָבַ֖רְנוּ בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃
KJV 18 And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
VULC 18 Et ejecit universas gentes, Amorrhæum habitatorem terræ quam nos intravimus. Serviemus igitur Domino, quia ipse est Deus noster.
WLC 18 וַיְגָ֨רֶשׁ יְהוָ֜ה אֶת־ כָּל־ הָעַמִּ֗ים וְאֶת־ הָאֱמֹרִ֛י יֹשֵׁ֥ב הָאָ֖רֶץ מִפָּנֵ֑ינוּ גַּם־ אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ נַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה כִּי־ ה֖וּא אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
KJV 19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
VULC 19 Dixitque Josue ad populum : Non poteritis servire Domino : Deus enim sanctus et fortis æmulator est, nec ignoscet sceleribus vestris atque peccatis.
WLC 19 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־ הָעָ֗ם לֹ֤א תֽוּכְלוּ֙ לַעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה כִּֽי־ אֱלֹהִ֥ים קְדֹשִׁ֖ים ה֑וּא אֵֽל־ קַנּ֣וֹא ה֔וּא לֹֽא־ יִשָּׂ֥א לְפִשְׁעֲכֶ֖ם וּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶֽם׃
KJV 20 If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
VULC 20 Si dimiseritis Dominum, et servieritis diis alienis, convertet se, et affliget vos atque subvertet, postquam vobis præstiterit bona.
WLC 20 כִּ֤י תַֽעַזְבוּ֙ אֶת־ יְהוָ֔ה וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֖ם אֱלֹהֵ֣י נֵכָ֑ר וְשָׁ֨ב וְהֵרַ֤ע לָכֶם֙ וְכִלָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֔ם אַחֲרֵ֖י אֲשֶׁר־ הֵיטִ֥יב לָכֶֽם׃
KJV 21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.
VULC 21 Dixitque populus ad Josue : Nequaquam ita ut loqueris erit, sed Domino serviemus.
WLC 21 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הָעָ֖ם אֶל־ יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ לֹ֕א כִּ֥י אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה נַעֲבֹֽד׃
KJV 22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
VULC 22 Et Josue ad populum : Testes, inquit, vos estis, quia ipsi elegeritis vobis Dominum ut serviatis ei. Responderuntque : Testes.
WLC 22 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־ הָעָ֗ם עֵדִ֤ים אַתֶּם֙ בָּכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־ אַתֶּ֞ם בְּחַרְתֶּ֥ם לָכֶ֛ם אֶת־ יְהוָ֖ה לַעֲבֹ֣ד אוֹת֑וֹ וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ עֵדִֽים׃
KJV 23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
VULC 23 Nunc ergo, ait, auferte deos alienos de medio vestri, et inclinate corda vestra ad Dominum Deum Israël.
WLC 23 וְעַתָּ֕ה הָסִ֛ירוּ אֶת־ אֱלֹהֵ֥י הַנֵּכָ֖ר אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑ם וְהַטּוּ֙ אֶת־ לְבַבְכֶ֔ם אֶל־ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
KJV 24 And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
VULC 24 Dixitque populus ad Josue : Domino Deo nostro serviemus, et obedientes erimus præceptis ejus.
WLC 24 וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ הָעָ֖ם אֶל־ יְהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ אֶת־ יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ נַעֲבֹ֔ד וּבְקוֹל֖וֹ נִשְׁמָֽע׃
KJV 25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
VULC 25 Percussit ergo Josue in die illo fœdus, et proposuit populo præcepta atque judicia in Sichem.
WLC 25 וַיִּכְרֹ֨ת יְהוֹשֻׁ֧עַ בְּרִ֛ית לָעָ֖ם בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַיָּ֥שֶׂם ל֛וֹ חֹ֥ק וּמִשְׁפָּ֖ט בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃
KJV 26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.
VULC 26 Scripsit quoque omnia verba hæc in volumine legis Domini : et tulit lapidem pergrandem, posuitque eum subter quercum, quæ erat in sanctuario Domini :
WLC 26 וַיִּכְתֹּ֤ב יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אֶת־ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה בְּסֵ֖פֶר תּוֹרַ֣ת אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיִּקַּח֙ אֶ֣בֶן גְּדוֹלָ֔ה וַיְקִימֶ֣הָ שָּׁ֔ם תַּ֚חַת הָֽאַלָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּמִקְדַּ֥שׁ יְהוָֽה׃
KJV 27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
VULC 27 et dixit ad omnem populum : En lapis iste erit vobis in testimonium, quod audierit omnia verba Domini, quæ locutus est vobis : ne forte postea negare velitis, et mentiri Domino Deo vestro.
WLC 27 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ אֶל־ כָּל־ הָעָ֗ם הִנֵּ֨ה הָאֶ֤בֶן הַזֹּאת֙ תִּֽהְיֶה־ בָּ֣נוּ לְעֵדָ֔ה כִּֽי־ הִ֣יא שָׁמְעָ֗ה אֵ֚ת כָּל־ אִמְרֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר עִמָּ֑נוּ וְהָיְתָ֤ה בָכֶם֙ לְעֵדָ֔ה פֶּֽן־ תְּכַחֲשׁ֖וּן בֵּאלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
KJV 28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
VULC 28 Dimisitque populum, singulos in possessionem suam.
WLC 28 וַיְשַׁלַּ֤ח יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ אֶת־ הָעָ֔ם אִ֖ישׁ לְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃
KJV 29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
VULC 29 Et post hæc mortuus est Josue filius Nun servus Domini, centum et decem annorum :
WLC 29 וַיְהִ֗י אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַיָּ֛מָת יְהוֹשֻׁ֥עַ בִּן־ נ֖וּן עֶ֣בֶד יְהוָ֑ה בֶּן־ מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃
KJV 30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
VULC 30 sepelieruntque eum in finibus possessionis suæ in Thamnathsare, quæ est sita in monte Ephraim, a septentrionali parte montis Gaas.
WLC 30 וַיִּקְבְּר֤וּ אֹתוֹ֙ בִּגְב֣וּל נַחֲלָת֔וֹ בְּתִמְנַת־ סֶ֖רַח אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּהַר־ אֶפְרָ֑יִם מִצְּפ֖וֹן לְהַר־ גָּֽעַשׁ׃
KJV 31 And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.

KJV 32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

KJV 33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
