BAN ²⁵ Or, de grandes foules faisaient route avec lui ; et se retournant, il leur dit :

KJV ²⁵ And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,

BAN ²⁶ Si quelqu'un vient à moi, et ne hait pas son père et sa mère et sa femme et ses enfants et ses frères et ses soeurs et même, de plus, sa propre vie, il ne peut être mon disciple.

KJV ²⁶ If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

BAN ²⁷ Et quiconque ne porte pas sa propre croix, et ne me suit pas, ne peut être mon disciple.

KJV ²⁷ And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

BAN ²⁸ Car lequel d'entre vous, voulant bâtir une tour, ne s'assied premièrement et ne calcule la dépense, pour voir s'il a de quoi achever,

KJV ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

BAN ²⁹ de peur qu'après avoir posé le fondement, il ne puisse achever, et que tous ceux qui le voient ne se mettent à se moquer de lui,

KJV ²⁹ Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

BAN ³⁰ disant : Cet homme a commencé à bâtir, et n'a pu achever !

KJV ³⁰ Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

BAN ³¹ Ou quel roi, partant pour faire la guerre à un autre roi, ne s'assiéra premièrement, et ne consultera s'il peut, avec dix mille hommes, aller à la rencontre de celui qui vient contre lui avec vingt mille ?

KJV ³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

BAN ³² Autrement, pendant que celui-ci est encore loin, il lui envoie une ambassade, pour lui demander la paix.

KJV ³² Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

BAN ³³ Ainsi donc, quiconque d'entre vous ne renonce pas à tout ce qu'il a, ne peut être mon disciple.

KJV ³³ So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

BAN ³⁴ C'est une bonne chose que le sel ; mais si le sel même perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on ?

KJV ³⁴ Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?

BAN ³⁵ Il n'est propre ni pour la terre, ni pour le fumier ; on le jette dehors. Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende !

KJV ³⁵ It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
