KJV ³ And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

KJV ⁴ And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

LSG ⁴ Il courut en avant, et monta sur un sycomore pour le voir, parce qu'il devait passer par là.

KJV ⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

LSG ⁵ Lorsque Jésus fut arrivé à cet endroit, il leva les yeux et lui dit: Zachée, hâte-toi de descendre ; car il faut que je demeure aujourd'hui dans ta maison.

KJV ⁶ And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

LSG ⁶ Zachée se hâta de descendre, et le reçut avec joie.

KJV ⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

LSG ⁷ Voyant cela, tous murmuraient, et disaient: Il est allé loger chez un homme pécheur.

KJV ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

LSG ⁸ Mais Zachée, se tenant devant le Seigneur, lui dit: Voici, Seigneur, je donne aux pauvres la moitié de mes biens, et, si j'ai fait tort de quelque chose à quelqu'un, je lui rends le quadruple.

KJV ⁹ And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

LSG ⁹ Jésus lui dit: Le salut est entré aujourd'hui dans cette maison, parce que celui-ci est aussi un fils d'Abraham.

KJV ¹⁰ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

LSG ¹⁰ Car le Fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.

KJV ¹¹ And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

LSG ¹¹ Ils écoutaient ces choses, et Jésus ajouta une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'on croyait qu'à l'instant le royaume de Dieu allait paraître.

KJV ¹² He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

LSG ¹² Il dit donc: Un homme de haute naissance s'en alla dans un pays lointain, pour se faire investir de l'autorité royale, et revenir ensuite.

KJV ¹³ And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

LSG ¹³ Il appela dix de ses serviteurs, leur donna dix mines, et leur dit: Faites-les valoir jusqu'à ce que je revienne.

KJV ¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

LSG ¹⁴ Mais ses concitoyens le haïssaient, et ils envoyèrent une ambassade après lui, pour dire: Nous ne voulons pas que cet homme règne sur nous.

KJV ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

LSG ¹⁵ Lorsqu'il fut de retour, après avoir été investi de l'autorité royale, il fit appeler auprès de lui les serviteurs auxquels il avait donné l'argent, afin de connaître comment chacun l'avait fait valoir.

KJV ¹⁶ Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

LSG ¹⁶ Le premier vint, et dit: Seigneur, ta mine a rapporté dix mines.

KJV ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

LSG ¹⁷ Il lui dit: C'est bien, bon serviteur ; parce que tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, reçois le gouvernement de dix villes.

KJV ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

LSG ¹⁸ Le second vint, et dit: Seigneur, ta mine a produit cinq mines.

KJV ¹⁹ And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

LSG ¹⁹ Il lui dit: Toi aussi, sois établi sur cinq villes.

KJV ²⁰ And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

LSG ²⁰ Un autre vint, et dit: Seigneur, voici ta mine, que j'ai gardée dans un linge ;

KJV ²¹ For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

LSG ²¹ car j'avais peur de toi, parce que tu es un homme sévère ; tu prends ce que tu n'as pas déposé, et tu moissonnes ce que tu n'as pas semé.

KJV ²² And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

LSG ²² Il lui dit: Je te juge sur tes paroles, méchant serviteur ; tu savais que je suis un homme sévère, prenant ce que je n'ai pas déposé, et moissonnant ce que je n'ai pas semé ;

KJV ²³ Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

LSG ²³ pourquoi donc n'as-tu pas mis mon argent dans une banque, afin qu'à mon retour je le retirasse avec un intérêt ?

KJV ²⁴ And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

LSG ²⁴ Puis il dit à ceux qui étaient là: Otez-lui la mine, et donnez-la à celui qui a les dix mines.

KJV ²⁵ (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

LSG ²⁵ Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, il a dix mines. -

KJV ²⁶ For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

LSG ²⁶ Je vous le dis, on donnera à celui qui a, mais à celui qui n'a pas on ôtera même ce qu'il a.

KJV ²⁷ But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

LSG ²⁷ Au reste, amenez ici mes ennemis, qui n'ont pas voulu que je régnasse sur eux, et tuez-les en ma présence.

KJV ²⁸ And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

LSG ²⁸ Après avoir ainsi parlé, Jésus marcha devant la foule, pour monter à Jérusalem.

KJV ²⁹ And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

LSG ²⁹ Lorsqu'il approcha de Bethphagé et de Béthanie, vers la montagne appelée montagne des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples,

KJV ³⁰ Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

LSG ³⁰ en disant: Allez au village qui est en face ; quand vous y serez entrés, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel aucun homme ne s'est jamais assis ; détachez-le, et amenez-le.

KJV ³¹ And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

LSG ³¹ Si quelqu'un vous demande: Pourquoi le détachez-vous ? vous lui répondrez: Le Seigneur en a besoin.

KJV ³² And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

LSG ³² Ceux qui étaient envoyés allèrent, et trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus leur avait dit.

KJV ³³ And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

LSG ³³ Comme ils détachaient l'ânon, ses maîtres leur dirent: Pourquoi détachez-vous l'ânon ?

KJV ³⁴ And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

LSG ³⁴ Ils répondirent: Le Seigneur en a besoin.

KJV ³⁵ And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

LSG ³⁵ Et ils amenèrent à Jésus l'ânon, sur lequel ils jetèrent leurs vêtements, et firent monter Jésus.

KJV ³⁶ And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

LSG ³⁶ Quand il fut en marche, les gens étendirent leurs vêtements sur le chemin.

KJV ³⁷ And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

LSG ³⁷ Et lorsque déjà il approchait de Jérusalem, vers la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la multitude des disciples, saisie de joie, se mit à louer Dieu à haute voix pour tous les miracles qu'ils avaient vus.

KJV ³⁸ Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

LSG ³⁸ Ils disaient: Béni soit le roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur ! Paix dans le ciel, et gloire dans les lieux très hauts !

KJV ³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

LSG ³⁹ Quelques pharisiens, du milieu de la foule, dirent à Jésus: Maître, reprends tes disciples.

KJV ⁴⁰ And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

LSG ⁴⁰ Et il répondit: Je vous le dis, s'ils se taisent, les pierres crieront !

KJV ⁴¹ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

LSG ⁴¹ Comme il approchait de la ville, Jésus, en la voyant, pleura sur elle, et dit:

KJV ⁴² Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

LSG ⁴² Si toi aussi, au moins en ce jour qui t'est donné, tu connaissais les choses qui appartiennent à ta paix ! Mais maintenant elles sont cachées à tes yeux.

KJV ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

LSG ⁴³ Il viendra sur toi des jours où tes ennemis t'environneront de tranchées, t'enfermeront, et te serreront de toutes parts ;

KJV ⁴⁴ And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

LSG ⁴⁴ ils te détruiront, toi et tes enfants au milieu de toi, et ils ne laisseront pas en toi pierre sur pierre, parce que tu n'as pas connu le temps où tu as été visitée.

KJV ⁴⁵ And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

LSG ⁴⁵ Il entra dans le temple, et il se mit à chasser ceux qui vendaient,

KJV ⁴⁶ Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

LSG ⁴⁶ leur disant: Il est écrit: Ma maison sera une maison de prière. Mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.

KJV ⁴⁷ And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

LSG ⁴⁷ Il enseignait tous les jours dans le temple. Et les principaux sacrificateurs, les scribes, et les principaux du peuple cherchaient à le faire périr ;

KJV ⁴⁸ And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

LSG ⁴⁸ mais ils ne savaient comment s'y prendre, car tout le peuple l'écoutait avec admiration.

KJV ¹ And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

LSG ¹ Un de ces jours-là, comme Jésus enseignait le peuple dans le temple et qu'il annonçait la bonne nouvelle, les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes, avec les anciens, survinrent,

KJV ² And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

LSG ² et lui dirent: Dis-nous, par quelle autorité fais-tu ces choses, ou qui est celui qui t'a donné cette autorité ?

KJV ³ And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

LSG ³ Il leur répondit: Je vous adresserai aussi une question.

KJV ⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

LSG ⁴ Dites-moi, le baptême de Jean venait-il du ciel, ou des hommes ?

KJV ⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

LSG ⁵ Mais ils raisonnèrent ainsi entre eux: Si nous répondons: Du ciel, il dira: Pourquoi n'avez-vous pas cru en lui ?

KJV ⁶ But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

LSG ⁶ Et si nous répondons: Des hommes, tout le peuple nous lapidera, car il est persuadé que Jean était un prophète.

KJV ⁷ And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

LSG ⁷ Alors ils répondirent qu'ils ne savaient d'où il venait.

KJV ⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

LSG ⁸ Et Jésus leur dit: Moi non plus, je ne vous dirai pas par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.

KJV ⁹ Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

LSG ⁹ Il se mit ensuite à dire au peuple cette parabole: Un homme planta une vigne, l'afferma à des vignerons, et quitta pour longtemps le pays.

KJV ¹⁰ And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

LSG ¹⁰ Au temps de la récolte, il envoya un serviteur vers les vignerons, pour qu'ils lui donnent une part du produit de la vigne. Les vignerons le battirent, et le renvoyèrent à vide.

KJV ¹¹ And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

LSG ¹¹ Il envoya encore un autre serviteur ; ils le battirent, l'outragèrent, et le renvoyèrent à vide.

KJV ¹² And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

LSG ¹² Il en envoya encore un troisième ; ils le blessèrent, et le chassèrent.

KJV ¹³ Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

LSG ¹³ Le maître de la vigne dit: Que ferai-je ? J'enverrai mon fils bien-aimé ; peut-être auront-ils pour lui du respect.

KJV ¹⁴ But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

LSG ¹⁴ Mais, quand les vignerons le virent, ils raisonnèrent entre eux, et dirent: Voici l'héritier ; tuons-le, afin que l'héritage soit à nous.

KJV ¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

LSG ¹⁵ Et ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne, et le tuèrent. Maintenant, que leur fera le maître de la vigne ?

KJV ¹⁶ He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

LSG ¹⁶ Il viendra, fera périr ces vignerons, et il donnera la vigne à d'autres. Lorsqu'ils eurent entendu cela, ils dirent: A Dieu ne plaise !

KJV ¹⁷ And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

LSG ¹⁷ Mais, jetant les regards sur eux, Jésus dit: Que signifie donc ce qui est écrit: La pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient Est devenue la principale de l'angle ?

KJV ¹⁸ Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

LSG ¹⁸ Quiconque tombera sur cette pierre s'y brisera, et celui sur qui elle tombera sera écrasé.

KJV ¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

LSG ¹⁹ Les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchèrent à mettre la main sur lui à l'heure même, mais ils craignirent le peuple. Ils avaient compris que c'était pour eux que Jésus avait dit cette parabole.

KJV ²⁰ And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

LSG ²⁰ Ils se mirent à observer Jésus ; et ils envoyèrent des gens qui feignaient d'être justes, pour lui tendre des pièges et saisir de lui quelque parole, afin de le livrer au magistrat et à l'autorité du gouverneur.

KJV ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

LSG ²¹ Ces gens lui posèrent cette question: Maître, nous savons que tu parles et enseignes droitement, et que tu ne regardes pas à l'apparence, mais que tu enseignes la voie de Dieu selon la vérité.

KJV ²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

LSG ²² Nous est-il permis, ou non, de payer le tribut à César ?

KJV ²³ But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

LSG ²³ Jésus, apercevant leur ruse, leur répondit: Montrez-moi un denier.

KJV ²⁴ Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.

LSG ²⁴ De qui porte-t-il l'effigie et l'inscription ? De César, répondirent-ils.

KJV ²⁵ And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

LSG ²⁵ Alors il leur dit: Rendez donc à César ce qui est à César, et à Dieu ce qui est à Dieu.

KJV ²⁶ And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

LSG ²⁶ Ils ne purent rien reprendre dans ses paroles devant le peuple ; mais, étonnés de sa réponse, ils gardèrent le silence.

KJV ²⁷ Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

LSG ²⁷ Quelques-uns des sadducéens, qui disent qu'il n'y a point de résurrection, s'approchèrent, et posèrent à Jésus cette question:

KJV ²⁸ Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

LSG ²⁸ Maître, voici ce que Moïse nous a prescrit: Si le frère de quelqu'un meurt, ayant une femme sans avoir d'enfants, son frère épousera la femme, et suscitera une postérité à son frère.

KJV ²⁹ There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

LSG ²⁹ Or, il y avait sept frères. Le premier se maria, et mourut sans enfants.

KJV ³⁰ And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

LSG ³⁰ Le second et le troisième épousèrent la veuve ;

KJV ³¹ And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

LSG ³¹ il en fut de même des sept, qui moururent sans laisser d'enfants.

KJV ³² Last of all the woman died also.

LSG ³² Enfin, la femme mourut aussi.

KJV ³³ Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

LSG ³³ A la résurrection, duquel d'entre eux sera-t-elle donc la femme ? Car les sept l'ont eue pour femme.

KJV ³⁴ And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

LSG ³⁴ Jésus leur répondit: Les enfants de ce siècle prennent des femmes et des maris ;

KJV ³⁵ But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

LSG ³⁵ mais ceux qui seront trouvés dignes d'avoir part au siècle à venir et à la résurrection des morts ne prendront ni femmes ni maris.

KJV ³⁶ Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

LSG ³⁶ Car ils ne pourront plus mourir, parce qu'ils seront semblables aux anges, et qu'ils seront fils de Dieu, étant fils de la résurrection.

KJV ³⁷ Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

LSG ³⁷ Que les morts ressuscitent, c'est ce que Moïse a fait connaître quand, à propos du buisson, il appelle le Seigneur le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob.

KJV ³⁸ For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

KJV ³⁹ Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

LSG ³⁹ Quelques-uns des scribes, prenant la parole, dirent: Maître, tu as bien parlé.

KJV ⁴⁰ And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

LSG ⁴⁰ Et ils n'osaient plus lui faire aucune question.

KJV ⁴¹ And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

LSG ⁴¹ Jésus leur dit: Comment dit-on que le Christ est fils de David ?

KJV ⁴² And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

LSG ⁴² David lui-même dit dans le livre des Psaumes: Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Assieds-toi à ma droite,

KJV ⁴³ Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

LSG ⁴³ Jusqu'à ce que je fasse de tes ennemis ton marchepied.

KJV ⁴⁴ David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

LSG ⁴⁴ David donc l'appelle Seigneur ; comment est-il son fils ?

KJV ⁴⁵ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

LSG ⁴⁵ Tandis que tout le peuple l'écoutait, il dit à ses disciples:

KJV ⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

LSG ⁴⁶ Gardez-vous des scribes, qui aiment à se promener en robes longues, et à être salués dans les places publiques ; qui recherchent les premiers sièges dans les synagogues, et les premières places dans les festins ;

KJV ⁴⁷ Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

LSG ⁴⁷ qui dévorent les maisons des veuves, et qui font pour l'apparence de longues prières. Ils seront jugés plus sévèrement.
